I've done several 3 month rounds of it. The first round, I noticed a definite difference that was reflected in my blood work. After a clear relief of symptoms (not complete, but VERY noticeable), for about a month and a half, I began to backslide into hot flashes and night sweats. I was taking the smaller, initial dose. When I stopped for the recommended 3 month hiatus, my symptoms worsened. I started up again, doubling the dose as recommended. I have noticed a definite improvement in my hot flashes, but I can't tell if this would happen anyway, as I'm further into menopause (I'm 57 and have suffered hot flashes since 2006). I've been without periods now for 2 full years. I've just finished my second 3 month round, and I'm watching carefully to see if I get worse. My MD's declared it safe (my sister has 4th stage breast cancer), as it has no hormones, but the jury's out as to whether the relief I feel is due to this product, or if it's a placebo effect or if I'm just naturally winding down from the really intense symptoms of hot flashes/night sweats. The next 3 months will tell. I can tell you it's expensive, but if it really does the job, I'll gladly pay the price, as these sweats have really affected my quality of life, and sleep! I will tell you to stay away from antidepressants as a treatment for hot flashes. I had a NIGHTMARE experience from using them.

I started Amberen last saturday May 28th 2011 and I will be taking my 7th dose today, I seem to be sleeping better and I also seem to becoming more regular which was a big problem for me. Feeling bloated all the time just makes things 10 times worse. I'm keeping a opened mind and hoping for more positive results. I will keep everyone posted. HRT was not an option just to many health risks involved, I want to feel better just not at the price of causing other health problems. emoticon
