I'm puzzling at the feelings of depression that I get when I take Tylenol. I have had increased pain and stiffness and did 48 hours round the clock of Tylenol and last evening was really dark and depressed feeling - I have noticed this before but just beginning to connect the dots... I have heart stents and they prefer that I not take advil but do have permission to do 3 day cycle of Advil round the clock to break a fibro pain cycle so started last night - am much more comfy today and the darkness has lifted. less pain and stiffness but thinking I will do another 24hr and maybe full three day cycle.
Anyone else get the depression with pain meds?

I was member of this team before and it was non-active but your note today called me back.
The frustration of peripheral neuropathy is the confusion about different types, levels of pain, treatments that seem to help or do they just make it worse? and what do we do to help ourselves and live life fully??
I want to be an encouragement and assure you that you are not lone and begin to be more active on this team for my own sake as well as or others. I am part of a VERY ACTIVE Face-book team but they do not address the weight issues and I am convinced that the foods I eat, the weight I carry and the efforts I make to exercise or at least keep mobile are part of the whole picture for me.

SO for the present I am learning a low carb/sugar free lifestyle to turn around the prediabetic diagnosis I just received and to get the scales to a lower number just for improving mobility and energy.
I have been through physical therapy to teach me strength and balance efforts and am back to working each day to improve that area of life.
I am blessed that I actually have little pain compared to many - just numbness and stiffness and lack of strength or assurance in walking.
I do take several supplements for different aspects of my health and will talk more about them another day.

This is Thanksgiving day and I am thankful to be here tonight!

Have terrible foot pain worsening over a year now. Can barely walk, sometimes can't wear shoes that touch the top of my right foot & this week it's starting on the left foot. Feet red when down & legs white. Feet white when elevated. Don't know what to do, in the last year been to PCP, rheumatologist, vascular Dr who increased compression stockings strength & foot Dr who made orthodics....pain worse than ever & life even more limited.....lost & alone.

I mentioned my first symptom of peripheral neuropathy to a doctor when I was only 17 years old. In June of 2015, at the age of 53, I finally got a diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy and fibromaylgia. So much makes sense to me now. Unfortunately, because doctors didn't investigate my symptoms and brushed me off I have permanent nerve damage. I have had to give up a job I loved, my horses, gardening, walking, bike riding, camping, hiking, cooking, and decorating cakes...my life is full of pain, meds that only help somewhat and cause all kinds of side effects. I could not tolerate some of the meds my doctor tried so my treatment options are limited. So, I have had peripheral neuropathy for about 39 years and was only diagnosed a little over a year ago.

Dangers of having numb feet
---stubbing toe and thinking it was just a little bump - later in day little toe and am inch circle around it are purple and swollen - I can move it but frightening to look so rough and no pain awareness of injury. Also had infected sliver on bottom of foot with no Must be more consistent in using mirrow for daily inspections for feet.

Symptoms: mine is fairly typical pain, numb and pins and needles in feet and up right leg especially... I am blessed that I do not have severe pain that many do ..most aggrevating in what feels like bees stinging the ends of toes and the restlessness of legs. They often feel like they don't even belong to me..like someone put a tall pair of boots on them , and then set the boots over beside me... weird!!!

The frightening part is the not being able to tell where I am stepping and concern for falling because of that and lack of balance. I use a cane whenever out of our home and two canes if I walk any long distances or on uneven ground.

My feet swell and the best help for that seems to be to wear strong support panty hose - difficult to put on and expensive but seem better for me and less pain the days I wear them.
I tried knee high and thigh high and both seem to cause more pain and cut into legs.

The part that puzzles my Dr the most is my right leg feels warm and the left leg is cold nd yet circulation tests show good circulation ...again--weird!!

My hands are showing more and more signs...worst in little finger and ring finger.

I study and pick my Dr's brain and he listened and we work on this together.

I am having problems this week with my hands and arms. I do have a feeling of burning pain in my hands and arms. Also, I am always moving my hands and arms, hoping to stop the pain. Do anyone else have this?

You poor thing! It's abhorrent that you went that long, suffering, and not knowing what was wrong or getting the help you needed. I'm so sorry. Meds like Lyrica and Cymbalta can be helpful with the pain. However, like most meds, they do carry side effects, so make notes in your Diary.

I didn't make the connection between Neuropathy and poor balance, but it sure is true. Thanks.

I have had neuropathy for probably 14 years, but I just found this out a few weeks ago. My worst symptom is skin sensitivity and being cold. Just having my blood pressure checked sends me up a wall! I also have poor balance and weakness. I have fallen many times, but the last two falls sent me to the Emergency Room. After that I went to a neurologist and had an EMG. I have severe neuropathy, but I don't have diabetes. I guess peripheral neuropathy is the most common, but I haven't been told I have any specific form, except that it isn't diabetic neuropathy. I was very angry that I had to go that many years to have it diagnosed. I take Lyrica, which helps, but I can't take much of it because I am sensitive to higher doses. I am currently doing aqua therapy and enjoy it a great deal. I only have two more sessions and then an evaluation. Anyway, I'm glad this board is here and I hope to see messages from others.
