Cardiologist appointment yesterday went fine; no problems at this time, but he ordered another heart echo in March just to make sure the chemo isn't damaging my heart. He's not worried about the rapid heartbeat, that is something that is normal with chemo, especially with as long as I have been on it.

Speaking of which, I was suppose to have chemo today, but they couldn't do it because my WBC and platelets were too low, we will try again next week.

Hello Friends,
Well I am back in San Antonio with Chris my son and Caitlin my daughter in law. I had a great time in Arizona with my daughter and granddaughter. I only gained 4 pounds the whole time I was gone so that was not bad. I am starting on WW again and drinking my water and I can walk 2 blocks here to get my exercise in.

Kat I think that is great too you train dogs. I am sure it is not easy to let go of them after you have had them so long. So happy you do that for the disabled. Erin and Cindy have 4 dogs and 3 cats! All 3 cats and one dashund dog is hers and the other 3 dogs are Cindy's then Chris and Caitlin have 2 big dogs a german shepher mix and a pit bull boxer! They are Abbie and Hooch!

Finished the first book The Monk Downstairs and now starting The Monk UpStairs and then reading all the Harry Potter Books after watching all 8 movies last week! Hope everyone has a great day!!

"KAT" - that's so awesome that you train dogs. How did you get into that? I think it's wonderful, but I can imagine how hard it is to have a loving animal in your home and then need to let them go. But you are doing a wonderful service.

Shari - I'm glad you felt well enough to go to church yesterday.

LEANMEAN2 - Thanks. My fellow puppy-raisers are amazing support, but it is a weird experience to not have that furry being who has been with me for several months.

But it is one of THE BEST reasons to 'lose' a companion animal.

It is kind of funny how lost my cat seems this time.

This has been a bittersweet week -
1st) Everest, the black dog in my profile picture graduated today with his human partner. He will be providing mobility assistance to his partner, who seems like a really awesome lady. I am so thrilled that they are such a good match...I am not sure who is more enamored!

2nd) Cricket, the Golden Retriever girl I have been raising for the last 7 months has been recalled to begin her advanced training cycle in preparation for eventual service.

It is just my cat (Marbles) and I, for now. Another pup will come along soon.

Went to church this morning, first time I have felt well enough to go since Christmas Eve.
Just relaxing with what is left of this day.

It has been a busy week at work and this one is also going to be crazy. I made my resolution to go through mom's things and see what we want to keep and what we want to give away as well as other things in the house. I'm also going to get more organized. So far I've been doing that but today it is one of those days where I'm tired and just going to relax. May be I'll get some reading in today. Have a great week all.

Hello Friends,
Well this is my last night with Erin and Maddie. Maddie is taking a nap and then we are going to the park for a while. My plane leave at 4:05 tomorrow and I will get there at 9:30 pm. I don't know when I will be able to come back out here again or when they can come see us. None of us have a lot of money and so it makes it hard. But it has been a really fun couple of weeks and I am kind of ready to go back to San Antonio. I need to look for a job and get my own life started back on some kind of normal routine. I have applied for 3 part time jobs so maybe one of them will call me. There are lots of jobs to look through. I am thinking though it would be fun to work for Barnes and Noble. Erin worked for Borders and had a lot of fun. The problem was she used a lot of her paychecks to buy books since she got a discount! I am afraid I might be the same way! lol Hope everyone has a good day!

Hello All,

I want to thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. I really do appreciate them a lot.

Today my leg looked a little bit better, but the spot on top of my foot still looks a little darker. I do have an appointment with my doctor on Monday morning. I am hoping that it will be a lot better than it is right now. I will try to keep everyone informed.

Thank you all, again.

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Best wishes to all!

Lue - 4 funerals in 5 days...that's heart-wrenching and completely emotionally exhausting. Best wishes to your mom and her test results.

Dot - ouch...cellulitis is so not fun. My dad had it several times in the same leg, but "knock on wood" it's been a while. I hope your infection clears up soon and without the need for IV antibiotics.

Darla - I can understand how it's hard for you to leave your daughter and granddaughter. I hope you have a safe trip back to your son's and best of luck with the SS and Medicare.I hope it all gets straightened out soon.

Shari - I completely agree with Penny...you are dealing with a lot right now and seem to be coping so well with it all and you come out here and give all of us encouragement to boot. I hope you can get some good rest and start to feel stronger and less-fatigued soon.

Hello Friends,
Dot- That sounds painful. I hope you get to feeling better!

CopperPenney- I have no idea why Medicare and SS can't get it together! SS did send a letter that they read to me that says I will get $300 for my first check and $766 for the second one and I was hoping to get it all on the 3rd which is my usual day to get it but it still has not come in unless it has today. Luckily Erin got paid so she can loan me money to get back home on and was able to pay for my medications. So now I am just wating on my checks this month and hopefully they will come in and then I will get a check next month on the 3rd.

I am having so much fun with Maddie and hate to go home. she is a sweetheart most of the time but she can also be difficult sometimes too and scream and cry a lot. She is every bit 4 years old! lol

Dot, I hope you are feeling better soon. I know from my mom that Cellitous can be painful. She has had it on her leg before, and she currently trying to fight it off again in the same leg. She just saw the doctor yesterday and he changed her antibiotics.

Hello All,

I can't go into any lengthy post. I just wanted to let you all know that I have developed a Cellitous (sp) infection on my left leg.

I have done a blog on it so you will all know what is going on with me.

I will keep you all in my prayers.

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Best wishes to all!

I had thought I might get a Kindle for Christmas but not this year. It's ok since I don't travel so I don't have to carry the books around.

I read this morning that Barnes & Noble is probably going to sell off their Nook.

Shari, thanks. You're really a strong lady to be so upbeat with what's going on with you. I admire you more than you'll ever know. Yesterday I felt so good (warmest weather for that date on record) & today's really warm also but, for some reason I just feel very tired. I'm so hoping that what ever he does on the 17th cures all this.

Darla, isn't it funny (NOT!) when two different government offices can't get together on something? Does this mean you'll get your check on a regular basis? It'll be nice when you can get on a regular routine & know what to expect. Icing on the cake will be when you can get your own apartment & be able to do your own thing.

I got a Sony reader one year for Christmas & some books the following 2 Christmases. This year they got me the latest Kindle & all the accessories. But we're on dial-up & can't use the Kindle. Besides it won't let us put the books from the Sony on it. I'd told them I didn't want a Kindle when they asked back in the summer. I don't use the Sony all that much either. I love to hold the book when I read it. Besides DH says the books add insulation to our house.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day! emoticon

Thanks, Renata for the new beginning.
It seems to me to be a 'good thing' to do every new year.
I have four funerals in five days and my mom is having an echo cardio gram Monday. The Christmas Tree has to come down pronto. Even if I can't locate every box for every ornament.

Quit stuffing your face and face your stuff.

Hello Friends,
CopperPenney- So sorry to hear that is is heart blockage. Will they do surgery to fix it?? I hope you feel better soon. I want to see the Alama again. I saw it when I was a little kid but not since then.

Joyce- I am still in Phonix with my daughter and granddaughter and Cindy Erin's roommate and Madddie's babysitter. I go home on Sunday. I had got a letter from the SS lady I saw and it said my medicare was canceled but I called them yesterday and it was not so I was able to get my Bipolar meds filled and took the right dosage last night and feel so much better today. Maddie is at preschool today and it is so quiet here! But she needed to go and play with her friends! It is nice for Cindy and I to have some time to do what we need to get done.
I hate to even leave Sunday. I love spending time with Erin and Maddie so much! I wish they lived closer to us. Erin has a guy she dated that she might go back to and I am sure he would want to live in Texas close to his kids so at least they would be in the same state. But he did hurt her so they are just working on being friends again. I am pretty tired. You would think I never had any kids of my own! lol Just seems like the grandkids wear you out faster! lol

Hope everyone has a good day!

Got the test results back from the chemical stress test & I have a partial heart blockage. Hr's going to do a test on the 17 th to see how bad it is. But I can go to Texas the 10th to the 16 th to see my GS graduate fro the AF boot camp or what ever it's called. We're also going to stop by the Alamo. It's one of the places I've always wanted to see.

It's going to get into the 50's today so I got up early & did the wash & hung it all out to dry. Love the smell of clothes hung out. Tomorrow's going to get into the 60's. Then turn cold again on Saturday.

I've gotten into some of the older mysteries so I've been checking at the used book store for them. MIDSOMER MURDERS hasn't came out with the latest set (on DVD) yet, I also like POIROT & MISS MARPLE. Just rea one book at a time but sew on something while watching the DVD.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day! emoticon

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well. I've managed to come down with a little bit of a cold and having trouble getting back into any kind of routine after being away over New Year's weekend. We had a really good time though and it was nice to see all the family. I've decided that even though I'm not much of a morning person, if I don't get my workouts done in the morning, it doesn't really happen. I might go for a walk or ride the stationary bike for a while in the evening, but an actual workout...nope. And the last two mornings I've had to take the kids to various doctor appointments. So, this morning, once I get done here, it's treadmill time. I also haven't been sleeping well the last couple of nights...I guess mostly due to the sinus congestion...it wakes me up and then I have trouble falling back asleep. Oh well...it will get better soon.

Shari - how are you feeling? I hope things are well.

Darla - Are you back in TX with your son now? How is everything going? I'm glad you had the chance to see your daughter and granddaughter over Christmas.

Well, I had started a book some time ago that I found on the Kindle called Snow Crash. It's incredibly odd. I hadn't been reading much because I was working on cross-stitch ornaments for Jim's sisters, but I picked it back up the last couple of days sitting in doctors offices. It certainly isn't the kind of book I would normally read, but I'll finish it anyway. :)

Have a great day everyone!

Joyce

Hello Friends,
Well I did not have all my medications last night and was awake all night so it has been a rough day. I was able to take a nap so that helped. Hope everyone had a good day!

Had my follow up appointment with my internist today; it went fine, except for the long wait; didn't see the doctor til an hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time, thankfully I had my Kindle with me to keep me sane!

Started back on my chemo today, got 25% of my book read while I was there; I am reading On Gold Mountain by Lisa See. It's the history of her family from when they came to the US from China in the 1800's. She is one of my favorite authors, I love her fiction stories about China.

Hello Friends,
I am almost finished with the Monk Downstairs. It is about a man who was a Monk for 20 years and decides to leave and now is in the world and falls in love with a single Mom who rented him the apt downstairs. It is really good!! the second one is the Monk Upstairs. I am just glad to be reading again! I just have to make time for that! I have just until Sunday here in Phoenix with my daughter and granddaughter and then I fly home to San Antonio! It has been a lot of fun and I have enjoyed it a lot. Last time I was out here I got too tired and ended up crying at the end. But so far I have not got too tired this time so it has been a lot better. Hope everyone has a great day!

I have 5 days off starting today. I have a book to finish and then I am starting a different book for bookclub. I do read more than one book at a time. I'm also reading A Course in Weight Loss by Marianne Williamson.

I never read more than one book at a time. I am almost finished with How Evan Broke his Head and Other Stories by Garth Stein and really enjoying it. He wrote The Art of Racing in the Rain which was very good--this is an earlier book.

Hello Friends,
Sounds like everyone has some great books you are reading! I am going to start The Monk Downstairs today and try to get it read before I leave. I was reading a book on Erin's Kindle too but I am going to buy a Kindle like hers in a month or so then I can read it again. I think I am going to set a goal of reading 100 books this year. I think that is a great idea! Thanks for starting a new topic! On one of my other groups they start a new topic each month and start with question so that might be something to think about to start one each month. It is whatever anyone wants to do. I am fine no matter what! Hope everyone has a good day!

I haven't had more than one book going at a time since I was a teenager, but soon I will have two going. I will be reading The Emperor of All Maladies, (about the history of cancer) for an online book club. There is a group of us that all have metastatic breast cancer in a private group there, and one of the ladies started a group for the book. Starting next month we will discuss it chapter by chapter. It sounds like kind of a depressing book for steady reading, so I plan on just reading a chapter per week, and when I am not reading that, I will be reading another book for my "fun" read.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, I am now in hospice care for metastatic breast cancer, but I'm not letting cancer stop me from Sparking!

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

I haven't read The Litigator yet but I have The Confession in paperback down in my stack somewhere. I finished Chuck Swindoll's book on the Apostle Paul this weekend - what a way for a Christian to start a new year! Today, I'm finishing my reread of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Yep, I'm bad!

After giving myself a mandate to read a book all the way through, instead of reading 40 books at a time, I still have about 25 books in the partially read pile. I'm going to try to get them all read this month. It's a good thing Janaury takes forever, huh?

Has everyone read John Grisham's latest? The Litagaters may be his best yet. It has everything, humor, suspense, and sympathetic characters. I loved it.

Great idea to make a new topic...thanks a bunch!

I have read several of my "to be read" books from my 'use the library' list...I want to try to get a few of my series caught up after 3 years of neglect!

Could we get updated 'game' topics as well? I just noticed one or two well over 6000 responses.

I love the holiday season, but I am very ready to let life quiet down a bit. I have a lot of work to do before the thaw. I'm not expecting to be bikini ready by memorial day, but there are many more worthy objectives to shoot for.

Happy New Year everyone. I had a great new year eve and today it was very quiet. The weather here was rainy, snowy and cold. Typical January weather. It looks like it will be cold week here in Wisconsin. I'm excited for a new year - started reading my book again and plan to do a lot of that and at night relax. Did alot of other things. I still have a lot of my mom's things to go through and I actually now have a plan. Wish me luck. Take care all and have a Great New Year.

Hello Friends,
Happy New Year!!! Erin 's friend Kylie came over last night and they bought a lot of alchol and poor Erin is so sick! She really did not drink that much but she is sleeping now and we are going to have some blackeyed peas and cornbread in a little while. I only drank one light drink and some chapaigne. I am happy it is a new year and new beginning! I have a lot of plans this year to learn how to make some quilts and just keep working on getting the weight off. I had gained 4 pounds but got on the scale and lost that plus one pound so 5 pounds gone! Now that will only be working part time I will have more time to work on taking better care of myself for my kids and Maddie';s sake. I am still having so much fun with Maddie! I go home Jan . 8th and will hate to leave her since I don;t' know when we will see each other again. None of us have any money. But Chris and Caitlin will be doing good when they finish college and I am going to buy Erin the book she needs to study to be a ITT Specialist. I know she could do it. She is very smart! Maddie is really smart too. She can do the IPAD II and Ipod so easy! She knows more than I do! lol

Shari- Erin gave me The Help for Christmas so I can't wait to see it. Glad you had a good Christmas.

We are eating some blackeyed peas and cornbread soon. Happy New Year Everyone!

Had a nice Christmas with my family yesterday afternoon.
Quite New Years for me, but an enjoyable evening; did some crocheting and some knitting on my knitting loom and watched The Help on DVD.

Yes, I did have you in mind when I started this topic emoticon

As new messages are added, the topic moves to the top of the list in each forum section. Posts that aren't updated recently eventually will move farther back in the lists of topics.

Sticky notes keep that topic in place at the very top of each forum section so it's always easy to find until it's time to replace it with something new. (I'm introverted so I tend to say a lot to explain something simple).

Team members ... here's a challenge. Who can explain what I just did using half of the words I did?

appreciate it. I was one with a sloooooow computer. I am starting James Patterson's Double Cross today so it will count for January. This is my first full month on SP so I am alittle confused on how it works.

I have another dumb question. On some posts I see sticky topic. What does that mean?

Welcome back Sandy and welcome to 2012 everyone.

Also, welcome to your new Ongoing Discussion topic to replace our other topic with 6,000+ messages.

Some members are having trouble with slow navigation on Spark and just in case a large topic causes problems, it seemed like a good time to start with a 'clean' slate (for many of us .. that's in more ways than one, right?).

Here's the link to the older topic if you need to review back to any of the posts:
