So any time you're feeling low
Instead of lettin' go
Just remember that ant
Whoops, there goes another rubber tree plant.

Get-n-Happy, we used to sing that in children's choir. Guess what's going to be playing in my head ALL DAY now...

Thanks everyone. I am not really beating myself up, just noting a pattern of behaviour. Trinity bakes a delicious cake when the whole family is not around to polish it off, Trinity will eat the whole magilla. Note to self: Don't bake unless ALL the sons are home from summer nonsense, when there's no fear of leftovers.

As for the recipe, I tend to be an "experimental" cook. I don't measure a whole lot, and throw things in at random depending on what's in the pantry. I will try to retrace my steps as much as possible and post the recipe.

Trinity don't beat yourself up. We all have bad days. I go threw the same thing if i have baked goods or sweet treats in my house. Take one minute at a time. It's done and over. Don't let it discourage you. So focus on what was good today! Looks like you found a awesome cake recipe! That's a plus right! So now you know what to make for special occasions. Just start fresh from this minute forward. emoticon emoticon

UPDATE: it IS wrong to have cake for breakfast when it turns into a day-long cake binge. I have had cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a mid-afternoon snack. Sad, really.

Perhaps I need to start at the source and lay off baking entirely for a while...

Whew! I feel much better with everyone's comments.

My challenge now is to skip having cake for dessert with dinner tonight. My favourite babysitter when I was a child used to let us have "backwards dinner", where we would have dessert first and then the main meal. I always had dessert, dinner and then dessert.

I'm going to have to ask her sons whether she lets them do that too. She's a very strict mom (she was NOT a strict babysitter), so I highly doubt it. And she would KILL me for giving her away.

Sounds better than most standard cakes, and breakfast is the *most important meal of the day*, sure better than nothing.

I love how you have everyone's stamp of approval. LOL

Bill Cosby has an old routine about cake for breakfast. His reasoning was the ingredients were breakfast foods so it should be fine. But he said he gave the kids a glass of grapefruit juice to go with it. YUK! Milk would be my choice.

Trinity, an occasional indulgence is a good thing. Like FeelingStronger said, you have all day to burn it off!

If your going to eat cake it's problem better to eat it in the morning. That way you have all day to burn it off :) Everything is OK in moderation and it sounds like your cake is a healthier version of most cakes. Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too!

As long as it's only occassionally, I don't see a problem with it. (Just don't tell the kids. LOL)

Last night I experimented with a new cake recipe. It is low fat, low carb, lactose-free, soy-free, "buttercream" made from chilled canola oil instead of butter. It accommodates all of the family's allergy and dietary requirements.

And, astonishingly, it actually tastes like cake. The last low-everything cake I tried had a great flavour but a texture like rocks.

It was lovely for dessert last night, I even dreamed about it. So...I had a slice of cake for breakfast. I know all of the rules about eating healthfully and all that jazz, but is the occasional slice of cake for breakfast all that bad?
