My blood pressure has now settled to a just right place. Not too high and not too low. The doctor took me off one bp med and now I only have one half dose med for bp. 5 years ago I had a stent for a blocked artery and was put on 3 meds. Slowly I’m getting off them. I love having control of my health. Thank you Dr McDougall.

So my blood work showed excellent results, but my blood pressure is still on the high side. Yesterday I decided to ditch the two-cup of coffee and had a nice green tea for breakfast. Later in the day I felt fatigued and checked my bp. It had dropped 27 pts on the high number!!

So it is the coffee. I need to go off it more slowly. I’ll start with half-caffeine and then decaf then just tea.

No, but I only have one cup a day in the morning. Some days it is half-caf.

Not giving up coffee! Use soy milk and a bit of sugar free flavor. Working as early as I do, you want me to have my coffee! My coffee mug says "SSSHH, its too early for you to say things!"

I agree Cafix is wonderful. I sometimes crave iced coffee, and make it with Cafix, almond milk and the smallest amount of sugar (tsp) and it is an afternoon treat for me when I'm craving something sweet.

I just gave up my morning coffee and didn't think it would ever happen, didn't even fret over it. Just decided last Monday to see what happens. It's been a week and I'm surprised I haven't even missed it. Still drinking tea and looking for a strong cup of black tea in the morning so not completely off the caffeine. I'll work up to a cup of herbal tea instead. Otherwise through the day I drink green tea and hibiscus tea, that hasn't changed.

I gave up coffee several years back however last year started drinking green tea and oolong tea some. I didn't think I'd ever be able to give up coffee - tried several times before it stuck - I was a "several pots a day" type person! I do drink a coffee replacement from time to time - tried several brands and like Cafix Crystals the best - at first tasted a little strange but adapted - mainly use it for a spicy blend (adding own spices) or sometimes add some plant milk - drink hot or iced. I used to drink my coffee black...the Cafix is a bit better with something in it.

I have an rare cup of black tea. Since I gave up caffine, for the most part, I have much fewer headaches. Yay.

Sorry Dr. McDougall but coffee stays for me. Only in the morning, after my big breakfast, then it's water and herbal tea for the rest of the day. A woman needs one guilty pleasure!

I still drink green tea and Earl Grey, but gave up coffee - a huge step. So far so good, I didn't think giving up coffee was even possible. Did you notice any changes to your appetite giving it up? I never was hungry in the morning with coffee. Without coffee breakfast is a must.

I wanted to give up caffeine because it was an addiction and it reduces my bodies ability to absorb calcium. Plus coffee is expensive.

I'd tried many times before but this time it took! I started by switching to decaf coffee (which has plenty of caffeine--don't fool yourself) Then went to tea, then decaf tea, then really weak decaf tea and now I'm just using warm water or herbal tea. I want to transition further to just using mint from my garden for my morning tea. I think what I crave is something warm and comforting with my breakfast and that can be done without caffeine.
