I love me some El Rancherito. OH MY!!! We pretty much go there every week. I know it's my downfall. But I am planning on not eating as much when we do go. I also like Ruby Tuesday and AppleBees because they hav calories listed and such.

Reviving this thread since I have been on my journey for almost a year now.

My Waterbugs and I go out to eat the first Wednesday of every month as kind of a treat for our hard work in the pool. We've been to Sprouts, Ruby Tuesdays, Lakeview, Out to Lunch (closed now), Nothin' Special (closed now), Park Bench, La Maya, Village Inn and Washington Perk .... help me Honeybee, am I missing any? Anyway, at all of these places we found good, healthy meals at decent prices. Notice there are no pizza places or fast food places.

I do want to tell you about yesterday though. Those of you that read my blogs will probably already know about it. We went to Washington Perk. It is supposed to be a high end place...right? Sharon, another rather large girl and I had to go to the bathroom before we ate. We had to pass by the kitchen and it smelled so good back there. Now understand this is a real "girly" place and the prices are like $10 for soup and sandwich. When we were walking back I mention that whatever smelled so good, I wanted that to eat. Then I said it smelled like bacon. The girls in the kitchen made a nasty comment...which I didn't hear, but Sharon did. They said, "She sure doesn't need anymore bacon and neither does her friend." then giggled. Of course we were both hurt, But I was ticked off. Sharon told me to be the bigger person and not say anything. Honeybee was ready to go after them tho.

The more I thought about it the more I knew I should have said something. This morning I called and they apologized. Point is...even your fancy places has dumb a**es working for them. AND stick up for yourself no matter where you are.

My mom always said "No one is better than, but you are better than no one either."

Unfortunately, all of Quincy's Restaurants are good. The new pizza place, Talyana's, out Broadway next to the Auto place has Chicago style pizza. La Jalapeno is awesome. The Abbey is great,And we can't forget about The Maidrite and Elders. BUT these are all not on my diet anymore. We used to avoid the last two when people smoked but now they smell better and I shouldn't go to them.

And yes, Sprouts, Gem City are staples of Quincy. Anytime someone from out of town come to visit, that is where we take them. And Sprouts does have good choices.

That's just the problem. We all like to eat too well. And Quincy just has too many restaurants. If you look in the phone book, we have more restaurants than churches, gas stations and taverns put together. If everyone in Quincy went out to eat at the same time, not all the restaurants would be full...just kidding but it would be close.

I love the Biggest Loser and yes, it does take tissues to get through it. I would love to be on it, but I would be like the girl they hauled off to the hospital the first day. But what they are doing in the research area is amazing. I watch it faithfully and can't wait to see Dan lose another 100 pounds.

Nothing Special. It is a fantastic place.
I highly recommend the "Honey Almond Chicken".

Hi Tina,
I'm a BIG FAN of The Biggest Loser. I've watched every show they have done in the past 5 years. Last year on Jan 9th I joined their online club and in 6 months lost 43 pounds. As the economy got worse my friends from there left and joined Sparks People because it was free so I followed them here. You should check out the show sometime. Tuesday nights on channel 10 from 7-9pm. I personally find the show inspirational and informational. Last night it took 6 tissues to get through the show!

Hi Karen,
I had never heard of The Biggest Loser until my friend mentioned it the other day and said maybe I should try out. She is not overweight, but is hopelessly addicted to the show. I don't know anything about it. Are you a fan?

I really don't have a favorite anymore. I actually try to avoid eating out as much as possible knowing how much sodium they put in the food. Seems like every time I do eat out my weight is up the next day even if I made good choices.

Does anyone watch the Biggest Loser?

I think my favorite restaurant is Sprout's. Went there the other night (Dec. 30th) and it was fabulous as always

We love Gem City as well, their taco pizza is awesome. I like different restaurants for different things. For steak I like Lakeview. For chinese it's China Palace. For seafood it's Sprouts. For burgers it's Kriegers. For mexican it's Maya. I've hardly ever found a restaurant I didn't like because we love to eat out. That is part of my problem!

My favorite would have to be Gem City. High in calories and fat though.
