Based on member feedback, we've made it so that you can now reset the articles you’ve read more than 6 months ago. To reset articles, you can go to Account/Email Preferences (https://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/prefer
ence.asp) from your MyStart page, and scroll down on the Account tab to the Reset Articles section of the page. Click the Reset Articles button, agree to reset, and voila! You can now read the articles again and get more SparkPoints. Again, this will only allow you to re-read articles you read more than 6 months ago. Articles you have read less than six months ago will be left unchanged.

Resetting your articles will keep the SparkPoints you earn for previously reading articles. You will lose the checkmark next to any articles in the Resource Center that have been reset.

Good morning!

I have a copy of the 30 day shred. It is too tough for me right now, since I haven't been all that active for quite a while. I tried a little bit of it just a couple of days ago. I got about 3 minutes into it and decided to switch to the Wii Fit for the rest of my activity. LOL. I'll keep trying. Eventually, I'll get there!!

Everyone have a beautiful Monday!

Bobbi, you rock! Keep up the good work.

Deb, enjoy your ME day! A workout called 30 day shred sounds too tough for me, but I wish I could join you at water aerobics. I've never done water aerobics before but I LOVE getting in the pool!

Today I'm going to Curves (will be leaving in a few minutes) and then during the day I will be doing 30 minute sessions on the Wii Fit.

Hey Ruby ladies... YOU ARE ALL GEMS!

Bobbi - WOOHOO! You know it is always just one day at a time and sometimes it is one minute at a time for me! Each day is an opportunity to feel great and change your life in some way.

Time for a ME day today! Well mostly! I am starting a new workout video this morning, it is called the 30 day shred and I have water aerobics today. I always enjoy water aerobics.

Later I need to plant a couple of things and weed a row. The garden is looking so much better.

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful Monday!

Just dropping by to say hello! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend :)

I really need to go out and weed the garden but I am just not into it today. Instead went to my morning meeting, cleaned out my work room and did some paper work. I am going to chill this evening :)

I have a crock pot full of black bean soup that should be ready for dinner. It smells great and I cannot wait to have a bowl.

I have a Wii Fit. My family got the Wii from my office manager for Christmas. She is a sweetheart. I had some Christmas money saved up from gifts from family. I can be hard to shop for. lol. So I used that Christmas money to get a Wii Fit after the holiday season. I loved it at first. I used it every day. I had gotten out of the habit of using it over the past several month. I don't really think it was the fault of the game or anything. Rather, I think I was just going through a personal funk and didn't want to do anything that I had previously found to be fun.

I have started using it again and having as much fun as ever. I just used it last night to do some upper body exercises, step aerobics and played with the hula hoop game a bit!

De, I'm really new to the Wii Fit, but in only a little over a week I can do a lot of the exercises better now...but I still have a long way to go.

There are yoga exercises which I think are hard. And step aerobics, plus virtual hula hooping and boxing. There are balance games and strength exercises. I think it would challenge you and maybe you wouldn't be able to do much at first but its a great calorie burner and you'd get better as time went by.

When you buy the Wii you get a game that has boxing, bowling, baseball, golf and tennis. These are pretty good exercise too. Then with the Fit you get a disc of exercises.

Lori, it was expensive, especially since my hubby is out of work again, but I just had to have it. I hated charging something at this time but now I'm glad I did. I use it at least an hour and a half a day....sometimes more! It has been a great investment.

I can see myself getting better all the time. I'm still not GREAT at some of the exercises but it really is wonderful that I can see my progress! That motivates me to try even harder next time.

Another other Wii Fit fans on the team??? I'd love to hear what workouts you like.

Deb, thats great that you were able to just have one slice of cake and be done. I bet it was good too!!

Debbie, I like how you bring up the small things we can notice as we lose weight. We should all name at least one thing we've noticed!

For me, since working out with the Wii Fit so much, I have noticed a couple of things;
My calves are firmer!
I still can't do a good pushup, but I'm getting better.
I'm getting better at yoga too.
I have more endurance and can work out for longer and longer amounts of time.
My shirts are folding in up top near the shoulders.

Debbie- You are right about deprivation. This is precisely why I asked hubby to get me a b-day cake! I had a piece and I was DONE! If I would have denied myself... it would have led to heaven knows what!

I really need to sit down and blog about last weekend. My family get together was rough for me (emotionally) because it really puts my old behaviors up close and personal. I am going to do this today. I PROMISE!

I'm not an emotional eater, but i am a binger. i can go thru 3,000-4,000 calories in a couple of hrs...and yes i am consciously aware of the calories i'm consuming while i'm bingeing. isn't that sad.

for me, depriviation leads to cravings which ends up triggering my binges. recently found that moderation not deprivation, works for me and that came about when i started practicing portion control. unreal because i never thought i could stop at just 1-2 serv of anything sweet or doughy.

i think other factors like eating better, seeing my body changing, feeling stronger, moving faster, fitting in smaller size clothes...those little positive feedbacks also helps keep me on track.

i think we should all look for those little positive feedbacks...to reinforce our reasons to keep moving forward.

i'm sure we all have something good that we noticed about ourselves or happened since we lost weight...

I agree with Lori, those are great ideas Deb! I will post them in my food journal.

I've been on so many DIETS and I would lose weight and gain it back. I like what Richard Simmons calls it though...he calls it a LIVE IT. Now that makes perfect sense! I'm not on a diet, I'm on a LIVE IT! I'm not making a temporary change in order to get a fast fix. I'm changing my whole lifestyle and this is how its going to be for the rest of my life. I'm going to lose the weight again and this time I'll keep it off because I won't go "off my diet" because I'm not even on a diet!

Pixie- You hit the nail on the head. That is why diets do not work- LIFE HAPPENS!

To avoid emotional eating:
journal
call a friend
write a letter
read a book
walk
scream into a pillow
soak in the tub and cry it out
watch lifetime movies- lol

You know, Pixie! That is what I do sometimes. Depends on what's bothering me. The other day a walk helped me vent some heated emotions. But often if it's just glum hum-drums, a nap is exactly what I need!

oh yes! "Emotional eater" describes me to a T!

My story is a few years ago I was eating healthy, exercising, losing lots of weight in a healthy way. Then out of the blue my husband of 15 years said he didn't love me any more. Threw me for a loop. A divorce followed, lots of messy emotional ups and downs and I gained every ounce back and then some. It's been a long battle of ups and downs on the scale while that weight came back, but it sure did.

Soooo ... here I am again. I've got to keep working on it, otherwise, I'm just admitting defeat and I don't even want to imagine how my life would be if I did that.

I was really sad when Kirstie Alley gained her weight back because I could totally empathize with her.

I lost 86 lbs in 2005/2006 and I maintained it for about 8 months. Then I got depressed (majorly) and gained most of it back within 4 months!! I spent all of 2007 and most of 2008 just trying to get back on track.

I joined Sparks in November 2008 and by February 2009 I'd lost 25 lbs. Then I got sucker punched with a few things; problems with my Mom, hubby losing his job, a very dear Spark friend having to leave Sparks, and another Spark "friend" turning on me...and I gained the 25 lbs back again.

I guess mainly I struggle with dealing with my emotions. I always turn to food but I need to change that. Now when I'm mad, frustrated or depressed I try to go work out with my Wii Fit instead.

Anyone else an emotional eater??

I agree with Pixie too! I think for any weight loss plan to be permanent, we need to learn to eat our own food and deal with the food out in the world.

I lost my weight with Weight Watchers and when I joined I was very skeptical BUT it worked FOR ME. I lost 65 in one year and almost another 15 since then. I have been in the maintenence stage for over a year and I feel as if I have learned to eat healthy as well as monitor my intake.

I get really sad when I see peeps on weight loss plans and then they gain back their weight because something was missing in the weight loss experience. When I see Kirstie Alley I just want to CRY. I feel so bad for her. She is worse off than she was before because she acts defeated. I felt this way myself so many times, when I went off and on diets, losing only to gain more.

I don't struggle with food so much anymore. Some days are a little harder but I have flexiblity and accountablility with my program and it works for me.

I think we all need to find what works for us and what we will be able to maintain over the long haul. Quick fixes do not solve the problems.

I'd love to be able to afford to use a plan like the Hourglass plan to get started. Like Pixie said, I think it's well worth the cost of getting started. Provided that they also help you adjust to making your own meals and meal plans when you're ready to move on!

I agree Pixie, First of all I am such a picky eater, I would know it would be a waste for me as I am sure I would not eat it, I also think it would be way to expensive, and I am not sure but it must be processed to help keep, would it not be high in sodium, not sure on the answer for that.

I do hope she is eating her own food now, That way she could go out with her friends without toting around the meals and could eat where they eat but eat healthier.

I hope she's not still on that plan, and that she's making her own meals.

Years ago I looked into Nutri System and I was shocked by the cost. I couldn't afford it then and I was so disappointed! But I wouldn't go on it now even if I could afford it. I like making me own food.

As for whether or not its worth the price, its definitely worth it if it helps you get started.

Ok let us start a discussion;

Do you think Ruby is still using the hourglass plan?

Would you use a plan like that to eat your meals, Do you think they are worth the price?
