I ran 5.5 miles yesterday evening after getting in from work. I was fired up. Must have been what I ate for lunch. I had a turkey burger on Ezekiel bread. I think the protein/carb ratio really gave me the energy I needed.

This morning I got up and did Supreme 90 - Legs.

We were looking on Craigs list and saw an ad for a free Nordic elliptical machine. It needs a monitor. Because of that it only runs on level 1. However, it is a Nordic and it is free. My husband can fix it. I can't wait. I have always wanted a elliptical machine. I love it because you can run or walk without the stress on your joints. Can't wait to use it.

I just ran 3.4 miles. I've only been running for two months, and today I ran 5K a minute and a half faster than last week! Hope it's not just a fluke.

I started the bootcamp but signed out because I didn't have the time to do the workouts. However, I just did the first days workout and it didn't take long. I acutally sweated a little. Now I feel great. I was stiff and sore this morning but now I am sweaty and more flexible. I should do this more often.

Hello, Just got here. Okay, I'm stuck using bikes or spinners. I have arthritis in my right knee and doctor says no walking. Boy, that is a downer. So I'm doing the recumbent bike every day for at least 5K. Today, set the goal for 100 calories just to see how long it'd take.
Forgot my telemeter strap to monitor the heart rate. :-(

I got a 5.79 mile walk in today and burned 287 calories. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon.

Icing the bottom of your foot before bed also helps if it is plantar fasciitis. That is what my doctor had me do plus stretching my foot before getting out of bed.

Sounds like plantar fasciitis or heel spurs. There are some things you can do such as some stretches for the foot, change-up you shoes, inserts. When I had a problem with this a few years ago, I had to quit wearing heels for a while. It was very painful, especially in the morning when you first get up. Eventually the pain went away and keeping your weight down will help. Check out this site for more info. Hope it helps.

Thanks Steph!

No workout today, it's a much needed rest day. Went off my clean eating for one day and had some of my hubby's fresh crappie fillets, fried with spaghetti with turkey sauce. So yummy but I still didn't do too bad. I'll make up for it and get back to clean eating tomorrow.

Hello Everyone! I'm feeling really motivated today. I've noticed that I'm a lot hungrier in the mornings & a friend reminded me that it's because I've been working out. So I've been making myself eat healthy snacks more frequently rather than just my assigned meals. Working out tonight & having turkey/wheat spaghetti. Hope everyone moves for a few minutes today!

Hi! I'm Stephanie and although I have been using Sparkpeople for a while, (mainly for recipes)
I just created my page and did my first food tracking yesterday. I have been tracking with Livestrong, but that site recommended that I consume 981cal/day to lose 1.5lbs/wk. Even with briskly walking (probably 3.5-4mph) 3 miles a day, I was not losing any weight.

As of today, I have not walked for a week. Last Tuesday I pushed myself to walk although I was really sore, and did quite a number on my knees - extremely painful! They are finally recovering and I am anxious to get back into the swing of it all!

Sandra - you are amazing and a complete inspiration!

Steph

Wow you ladies are doing awesome!!!! I have really struggled in the past 3 weeks. I have kidney stones that keep movin around but not down and out (if you know what I mean) plus I have ear/sinus infection and on top of that hubby was diagnosed with diabetes 2 weeks ago, so I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about that subject so I can keep him off of meds for that. I must be doing good nutrition wise, because I got his blood sugars down from 170 to 117. It has NOT been a good month at all. Thanks for letting me vent....and congratulations to you all on your weight loss and your strength to keep on movin!!! Here's wishing everyone a GREAT rest of the week!!!!

Chrism that's awesome. 6 pounds is great, just keep it up those 6 pounds keep adding up. Increase your cardio to a run/walk to get your heart rate increased. It'll also increase your metabolism. Also check your foods, what are you eating? Is it empty calories or nutritional calories? Give me a look at your foods and I may be able to help you.

Suchi, congrats on the 8 pounds gone girl, keep it up, you'll start seeing it. I have the same problem with my heel. It started by wearing the wrong running shoes. Now that I've got better pair, the pain is still there but the new shoes make it feel better. I probably need to go get it checked, but I'm don't want to doctor to tell me to stop running.

Wow you ladies have been really busy.

I made it back home on Friday. I really, really enjoyed Hawaii, and loved being with the grandchildren, but I was so ready to get back home to my hubby, my bed and my air conditioner system.

I was so tired Friday from the long flight and the time difference. Slept really well next to hubby and didn't want to get up Saturday, but I had promised a girl I'll run with her Saturday morning. So I got that run done, and went back home and rested some more.

This week back at work has been hectic. Got paperwork stacked about a feet high on my desk to move. So no time at work to get on here.

I've still been very busy with my workouts, getting up early getting it done and sometimes putting in a second workout in the evenings.

SUCHITRAP GREAT NEWS! Congratulations! 8 pounds is awesome!

For your question about the heel pain - this may sound obvious and I am by no means an expert or doctor but are you wearing good supportive shoes and how long have you had them. In 2008 I did the 60 mile breast cancer walk - just because I thought it was a good thing to do - anyway they stressed that walking and running shoes should be replaced on a regular basis. They say every 300-500 miles. Sounds like a lot of miles but surprisingly they said it actually comes out to be ever 3-6 months depending on how much walking or running you are doing. The brand that you were can also make a difference because everybody's feet are different. I am not going to name brands but I have 2 that I like a lot for exercising and I have found that there are a few brands that just don't support my feet very well and that makes a huge difference. Good Luck!

Lost 8 pounds GUYZZZZZ

YAY!!!

the only issue I am having right now, why on earth am I not looking it lol
I am thinking , hey if you take out a glass of water from ocean , its not going to make a big difference right : )

its ok I am feeling the change though!!

----

I have a serious question though...every day when I wake up my heels hurt a LOT so much that I am unable to walk but few minutes later everything is fine. Does anyone know why?

I am 28 years told and I think its cause of my huge weight but lately its hurting even more.

Is it due to the walking I am doing?

Thank you Slimmerin2006. About a week or so ago I posted a question about running and my lungs burning and you replied with some great motivation and help. I am very proud to tell you that on Thursday, Saturday and yesterday I was able to run at 5mph rate for 10 minutes straight without lowering to a fast walk! I know this is just a small accomplishment but it is huge for me and in fact I was debating on increasing the speed to 6mph tonight but I think I am going to increase the amount of time I run instead. My total walk/run workout is 25 minutes and then I do either yoga or balance ball after. So thanks again for your help! I keep hearing you say "you are a runner" and then Jillian Michaels saying "move outside of your comfort zone" and I just keep pushing myself. I am hoping to be signing in more often...my computer crashed and I just got my new one yesterday!

Hi Lissa,

I'm not sure from a scientific point of view...but in my humble opinion....running the stairs is probably better to do after your walk...mainly because your muscles will be warmed up so you will be less likely to injure yourself or over do it.

Hi all! Now that it's getting nicer out, I've got my rear up to the track/stadium and have been walking 1-2 miles up there, getting used to it. Two nights ago I decided to run the stairs after walking and boy was I wasted!!! Question: Should I do the stairs first or do them last? Benefits? Cons?

I just signed up to walk in the Walk for Lupus Now in Charlotte on May 21st! It is a 5K so it should be totally doable for my health issues if I take a couple of breaks. I did a 4.5 hike last month and did pretty good with breaks. But breaks are okay with me because it means I get to participate and do something I loved before I got sick. And that is everything to me!

My daughters and I went to the Ala Moana Mall, and let me say OMG the stores there were something to see. Even just walking in Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Neeman Marcus, Ferra Gamo,Fossil and so many others was worth the trip. I picked up a pair of shoes at Neeman Marcus that was over $1000, you should have seen the look on my face. After over 5 hours there my feet was so tired.

I'm heading back home on tomorrow, our flight is at 7:30 tomorrow night and we'll be in Memphis Friday about noon.

I recently started doing the gluten free thing and while I felt better, I was still not losing any weight. And then I looked closer at the ingredients in the gluten free items. A lot of gluten free items contain huge amounts of simple starches as they try to reach the wheat texture and taste. I started eating closer to natural food sources similar to what KULASPARK appears to be doing and I am now losing weight.

I don't think those expensive gluten free specialty items are worth eating on a regular basis - especially after reading their ingredients.
