Had a good run today. I went down on the river and ran for 5.4 miles and burned 1028 calories per my heart rate monitor. Thats over 2000 calories burned in 2 days. emoticon

I don't think I did bad with my eating on Christmas, nor the weekend. Hubby cooked a turkey breast, turnip greens, and macronni & cheese. Plus he bought a lemon crunch bundt cake and a sweet potato pie. I ate a very small amount of food on Christams and that's it. I just wasn't feeling all that food. Today I'm home alone right now so I took the remaining turkey and made some homemade turkey noodle soup. It's so yummy.

Also after not working out for 2 days I got up this morning and burned 1122 calories per my heart rate monitor. I ran on the treadmill for 70 min. then did 20 min. of Cathe's pyramid combos. I did only 20 minutes because I was so tired with the first set of high steps that I fast forwarded to chest and back. Then was just too pooped to do any more.

I did 1.75 miles today - power walking on the treadmill. Every time I get on, I add minutes or distance. It is fun.

It never occurred to me to add up the milage over the course of several days. It would be neat to see how long it will take me to get up to 26 miles.

Thanks for the idea Sparkbuddies!

Hi team,
I didn't workout today, I was out finishing up my Christmas shopping. Anyway, I plan to workout tomorrow morning, 2.0 miles on the track. After that, I'm out of town until Monday.

Everyone have a Merry Christmas! I will chat again next week.

Good evening everyone!

I'm so tired. This morning I got up and went down on the river and ran for 2.7 miles. Then came home and did some serious yard work. I went into the back yard and started cutting down branches that had grown up on my fence. I bought this new cordless saw style loper cutters. That thing really works good but it sure did give my arms a great workout. My arms are so sore now, I don't see how I'm sitting here typing. My arms feel like lead. I know that was some serious calories burned.

Hi stuffedpuppet - after my hysterectomy a couple of years ago I totally fell off the wagon. I'd been working out seriously hard and was slim & buff before surgery. Hysterectomies are, after all, seriously major surgery & your body's very different afterward, as you know. Thought I could just start right back in afterword - a word of caution: make sure you listen to your body as you progress. I set myself back by trying to do too much too soon and ended up delaying the healing and totally blowing getting back to workouts. Finally, 20lbs later...

Bless you for getting right back to it! Sounds like you're well on your way :)

Today was supposed to be a rest day, and I was all up to resting until a friend came over for help. She's ready to lose eight and get healthy so I'm starting her on a healthy weight lost program. I started her with just 15 min. on the elliptical. So I took advantage of it and got on the treadmill and ran for 15 min.

Bree the best to way to meet your goals is take one day at a time and work toward it. Don't be in a hurry to get there, just enjoy the journey. Remember also to stay motivated you've got to tell yourself everyday that "this is something I'm doing for my body and to lose weight and get healthy I've got to keeping moving".

Hi everyone!
I'm new to all this, and I've just started a program for daily walking/jogging on my treadmill. I hope to be able to do a 5k by this summer. I'm unfortunately easily de-motivated, so I'm joining up here in the hopes that it will help me to keep on track. I have to progress a little more slowly than the average 30 yr old due to a heart condition, but does anyone have any suggestions for the best ways to proceed to my goal?

Thanks!
Bree

Morning everyone!
Ran two miles today.

...I was thinking how I don't believe I would ever have this sculpted toned body....not me, I think. Self-fulfilling and self-defeating maybe? Thus, I don't have a picture in my head about myself looking like that. I have some college pictures...almost shockingly skinny...but it doesn't seem to make any difference...I mean...that was 20 years and 3 kids ago...self-defeating again, maybe? I weigh 30 pounds more now.
However...don't give up on me yet, friends...I am recognizing this and consciously building that self-esteem and confidence that this 'new sculpted me' is possible...and as it is said...act a smile, soon you will be smiling, I am certainly working out, and trying to work on my really life long poor eating habits by staying faithful to this life change. Of course, when I was younger, I never thought I'd be one of those struggling with weight issues!! Is that why people say youth is folly? :)
I do indeed want to live long and be healthy...and a dose of cuteness is welcome too!

So...I am here to stay and committed to our mutual goals...and specifically to mine also.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Priscilla

Hi all. I have started using my elliptical again. I had a hysterectomy back in August and my elliptical "magical" broke while I was recovering. Now it's fix and away we go!

Last night I did a 12.5 minute mile. I am not sure if that's really good or not. Not sure where it should be. But it sure felt good. Got a major sweat going on!!

Any idea how fast a mile should be?

Good evening everyone!

Well today didn't go as I planned. I completely forgot that hubby had an appointment for an MRI on his shoulder. It's been giving him problems lately. After sitting with him and going to the grocery store we didn't get home until about 4. So I didn't want to go down on the river because it gets dark too soon. But I went into my workout room and got on the treadmill and ran 3 miles, burned over 600 calories.

Hi Karen and welcome. The marathon is just totaling your daily miles, either, run, walk, bike, or elliptical. When you reach 26, count it as a marathon done.

I'm a complete newbie here (sorry in advance!), can I just ask about the marathon numbers? Are you actually completing a marathon? Adding miles/month (or miles/week or miles/year) to make a marathon? I would really appreciate any help to steer me in the right direction!

I'm off to work out now, although I really just want to go home and nap, but I know afterward I'll feel much better and that's what is driving me right now.

Keep it up everyone!

Sandra...how wonderful to remind us of what truly matters. I, too, am spending some more time praying, listening to sermons and trying to apply newly learned principles in my life.

Ran two miles...making it 14/26 miles in #2.

Good Morning all,

Today, I plan to take it easy. I will probably just walk, 5 miles if I can get it in. It's beginning to look alot like Christmas. It's snow and icy in the midwest.

Bry, way to go! putting in double digits on the exercise bike yesterday! Two workouts in one day! Nice!

Everyone have a FABULOUS DAY!

Good morning everyone!

No bodily exercise this morning but got a good soul exercise in. Had a great devotional bible study and prayer this morning. I'm hoping to hit the pavement on the river this evening. The weather is suppose to be great with a high of 60, but cloudy, so I'm ready today.

Today, I ran 2.0 miles on the track, did 25 minutes on the elliptical and some strength training for 40 minutes. I had a good workout today.

Zanball, you really have a considerate husband. That was a great idea to go into the city. I'm glad you had a good time.

Everyone, enjoy your evening.

Got my 5 miles in on Saturday and Sunday, but what a wonderful way to get them!

OMG I just have to tell you about what an awesome weekend I had. The DH decided to surprise me on Saturday - said we had to spend a little "us holiday time" before things got sooo busy with all the family/travel/etc etc etc. (Tee hee - listen up, you guys - this is the way to score HUGE brownie points with your lady!)

He blew my Saturday plan to get my hair/nails done & then finish all the holiday errands/running around but OMG what a WONDERFUL way to blow it :) :) When I got home from the salon he whisked me off to the city for a night out. It was only 14 degrees, but sooooo much fun just to walk up and down the Mag mile looking at xmas windows and holiday lights. Then we had dinner at an amazing restaurant with three kitchens - sushi (my fave), Brazilian and Peruvian. We tasted like a dozen small plates - a little of each type of food. Yuuuuummmmmyyy and shared a good bottle of wine. Then we wrapped up by going to a cool "underground" bar where a truly horrible band was playing LOL - the band was so bad it was fun. Had a great time talking to the young people around us who were celebrating an engagement. I still got all the stuff I needed to get done finished on Sunday, but I was so chilled out doing it instead of frantic.

The great part: Didn't gain a pound with all the walking around in the city. Just about got in my daily 5 miles of walking but in a much more fun way than on the treadmill - he even thought of that :)

What a wonderful DH I have!! He's the best! Some excellent together time with him is my best holiday gift of the year, I'm just sure of it!! God bless him!!

Good morning everyone!

I was up early and got in 3 miles on the treadmill then did some strength training and abs.

I'm really feeling like running some more today. So I put my running clothes in my bag this morning, and I'm hoping to hit the pavement this evening.

WOW I've been slow. I miss posting a couple of days and look at what I come back to.

Hello, and welcome to all the new members.

Let me chime in on the treadmills. I have a horizon treadmill that I bought off of amazon.com, and I love it. I mostly run on mines at a 5 speed and sometimes incline to 1-2 but not much. Mines go to a 10% incline and I only go that high on the incline at the end of my runs for about 3 min. on speed of 3, and I walk that.

No workout for me though this weekend. I'm going to reevaluate my workouts and my foods. I'm thinking about 3-4 days of running 3-5 miles each time, with 2 days of weight workouts and 2 days of rest. I want to see if this will give me a jolt to seeing a reduction on the scale.
