Thanks, Moody, your condolences are appreciated. emoticon

I've been feeling out of sorts for a while now. I finally realized this morning that a comment a few weeks back at work has had me re-evaluating my work situation, and my basic feeling is one of dissatisfaction. Negotiating is not a strong suit for me, and I don't know yet how to approach this. It's just been a background concern or irritant, or a source of anxiety--too bad I read those DoF chapters on anxiety without this in mind. Though the chapter on an anxious workplace, and our preprogramed coping behaviors to stress (often based on birth placement & gender) was both interesting and relevant.

And of course there's the tax deadline approaching--and I have all but one document in the tax envelope on my desk. I have all the numbers but one (a small one), so do I complete it and get it over with, and maybe miss out on a few bucks, but get it sooner? Just wait and figure when I have all the numbers? See if it makes a difference when I get the replacement 1099, and file a correction if it matters? And since I'm getting money back, there's no reson for me to have waited so late--which feeds into my shame about being disorganized.

Blessed Be, Amanda

Thank you, Elvie, I appreciate that. I miss my sweet Kenny still. And I enjoy having Dora in my life now. Do you have any fur babies of your own?

Thank you all. I picked up his cremains from the pet hospital after work today. I cried a bunch on the way home, and found a very sweet sympathy card from a dear friend in my mailbox. I'm chatting with him more now that a part of him is here. And while I've never been a big teddy bear person, a couple of my super soft ones have been getting lots of hugs and squeezing! One sits in my recliner with me as I read or watch TV (Kenny was often curled in my lap there), and another gets hugged close when I go to sleep (he used to curl up by my pillow).

It's been a rough week, but I'm doing OK. When I go for my walks at work, I often send thanks to his spirit and to the Goddess for his sweet affection and the joy he brought me for so many years. He has truly blessed my life and I will always be grateful for that.

Blessed Be, Amanda

Amanda, I am so sorry that your fur baby has crossed over. It is always a most difficult thing to try to come to terms with no matter how much we may have been expecting it.
Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy.

Blessed be, dear Amanda.

Careful, Eva--that's how I acquired my 3 cats--I couldn't resist 3 little abandoned feral kittens, and the rest is history!

Sorry I've been absent--I really do want to be an active member of this team. I've been dealing with some issues of friendship and trust lately and the good news is I'm going to learn a lot about myself thru this drama--that's the plan anyway!

Blessed be!

Ahh Goddess help me! My internet is acting the monkey today! I think maybe the rain has confused it!

On another note. I've been over run by stray cats this weekend. It's pouring down rain and my daughter is worried about the kitten we saw this morning. I fed it poor thing is soaked.

I hope all who got something out of the current Fire challenge will post something about their experience.

Hello Goddesses! I'm so glad to see you all today.

I'm happy to say I think my Aunt may get to come home today. She's had some issues since her surgery (nausea and such) but she was much improved yesterday. I think Dr ogler may let her leave late this afternoon.

Thank you all for you healing energy and well wishes.

Blessings,
Eva

Do any of you watch Dr Oz? I don't regularly but if I happen to see a commercial for something he's doing that interests me I'll flip the tv over there while I fold laundry or something. Makes the chore I dislike most a little more bearable. Anywho. I watched the defy your age diet thing earlier this month and he has a drink on there he called Tangerine Weight-orade.

8 cups brewed green tea
1 tangerine sliced and juiced (drop wedges into pitcher)
and a hand full of fresh chopped mint

Mix it up and let it set overnight in the fridge. Made about 6 or 8 servings. It tastes pretty good if you like flavored teas. It's suppose to boost metabolism.

Good morning Goddesses!

I am so excited about my trip! We leave tomorrow, and I have to get packed today. My goal is to work in 20 minutes of exercise a day because I just got back to exercising and I don't want to fall off of the wagon already! Besides, I'll be on the beach, and who can't get in a 20 minute beach walk? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I spent a while yesterday visiting friends' pages, commenting and giving goodies, and connecting with our new members as part of our fire challenge. I will do that some more today. Then next week I will be sharing my fire, my creativity, and my passion with other passionate stitchers. emoticon So what a good challenge for me this coming week!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!

Hugs,
Lisa

Dawn you are right. This week has just disappeared!

Thank you ladies for keeping my bunch in your thoughts. They all seemed to be doing better yesterday. At least nothing unexpected has popped up.

Amanda is Kenny still doing good with his new diet?

Lisa, we look forward to having you back, but have fun at your seminar! I want to hear about it when you get back.

Just wanted to pop in & say hello. Here's hoping that you are all having a good week. It's been a busy one for me. How is it that weeks with a holiday at the beginning seem to FLY by too fast? I hope that you've all been getting in enough fitness while having fun. Bright blessings to you all. Love, Dawn

PS: going to check out the Cave of the Crone challenge now... thanks

Hi everyone -

I'm sorry I have been MIA. I've been getting ready for the seminar next week, as well as getting over some back spasms. In addition to feeling sorry for myself for all my stress and pain, I totally let go of all my hard won good habits. emoticon The Biggest Loser Challenge brought me back to spark people, which has helped get me out of my funk and back to moving forward again. emoticon I have missed you guys!

Eva, I'm so sorry to hear about the health issues of your step-dad and aunt! I'm so glad both of their surgeries came out okay. I will keep your family in my thoughts.

Amanda, poor little Kenny! I'm glad to hear he is recovering. My little dog Flea had a bout with pancreatitis earlier this year. The vet said that is very serious because they get sick so quickly, and dehydrate so fast. It was very scary!

Eydie, it sounds like you are doing great on your vegan diet. I'm a vegetarian, but I really like my eggs and cheese. So I admire you vegans!

I promise I will be more focused and present after next week when the seminar is over!

Well both my step dad and my aunt came through their surgeries very well. My step dads was a kidney stone removal, the worrisome part was it was 10 times the size of a normal stone. He's sore but otherwise seems to be fine.

My Aunt's surgery wasn't as extensive as they thought it would be. she had 1.5 feet of her colon removed and they got the entire mass. The doctor is sending it off to pathology but he says it doesn't look like cancer just a massive growth. She's had a badder tumor for a while and he went ahead and removed it while he was in there and could see it. She should be leaving the hospital in about a week.

Today I am thankful to the Goddesses for watching over them both.

Thank you Amanda. I am playing hurry up and wait. I'm hoping to hear information about my step father's surgery. My Aunt goes down at 11:30 CST. I'm nervous as a cat today. I had forgotten both surgeries were the same day. I thought my step dad's was tomorrow.

Amanda I'm glad to hear Kenny is doing better. I think pets are sometimes harder than kids, mainly because they can't say what hurts, at least not unless you are a Dr. Doolittle.

Eydie I'm glad to here you are enjoying you Vegan Venture!

Ladies, I may not be as active this week as I would like to be. My step-father is having a kidney stone busted up this week and my aunt is having cololrectal surgery tomorrow. She had a colonoscopy and the doctor poked a hole in her colon. I know she will have at least part of her colon removed and maybe all of it depending on the extent of the damage and where the hole is located. She's 72 and she's pretty weak. I'm not really sure what's going to happen with it.

Glad he's doing better. It's painful to see those critters in distress!

I've started my vegan diet and am really loving it. I know I'm in the honeymoon phase with it and
it's too early to know for sure how I'll be with it, but right now, feeling so good about it! It wasn't a huge transition as I was vegetarian already, but this little tweak in my diet has been good for me.

Thanks for asking about my sweet Kenny emoticon , Eydie. I updated my status with the results, but not everyone would see that. The x-rays as well as the blood work reurned a bunch of negative results for the serious problems that could have been causing the frequent regurgitating. The most likely problem indicated was with the pancreas, very possibly due to, or exacerbated by the the little bit of half and half I was giving him in the morning after putting it in my coffee. It was one of our morning rituals for some months, but it turns out it may not have been good for him, no matter how much he liked it. (Sound familiar, anyone?)

For most of a week, no dry chow or cream, and no more spitting up. He's on all wet food now, and is putting some of his weight back on. I am much relieved!!

Blessed Be, Amanda

I'm feeling calmer; still haven't gotten 2nd set of results back from the vet, but no regurgitating in the last 1-1/2 days, so that's good. No more dry food for now, no sharing half-and-half when I fix my morning coffee. Feeding a little more wet, and more often. And I've already worked on forgiving myself for any mistakes I've made in his care. Kenny and I are both very affectionate, and I believe he "knows" he is loved.

Good morning, Goddesses! Eydie, I am happy to hear you are safe and just got the rain that you needed! Hoping that we hear from Ruby today and that she is safe as well!

I was busy the last couple of days getting laundry done and doing a bit of shopping. DH is leaving in a little while to go to a 4 day professional development workshop in northern Arkansas... Had to get his stuff ready and get a few grocery items to tide me over (we only have one vehicle at the moment, so I'll be 'stuck' here).

I have been reading a lot lately... emoticon and, I have been participating in a 21 day meditation challenge with the (Deepak) Chopra Center; this is Day 14. emoticon

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! Sending prayers and light to all on the the east coast...
Blessed Be, Pamela emoticon emoticon

E, so glad for the kindness of Irene in behaving and sending ye rain. That is happy news.

Good morning, all!

I am also stocking pantry today! Woot! Just waiting for my usual time to weigh in and see if there has been any damage this week or if, maybe, I might have lost a nice pound!

Woot!

Have friends there, no family. Blessings in that direction, that all may be safe, that the hurricane may see the error of its ways and go quietly out to sea and that all humans and animals will evacuate as directed when it be prudent to do so.

I am finding blogs very helpful lately, lol, especially one of my own newer ones that is helping me focus on a strange journey that has called me to age backwards lol.

Regarding religion, though, it is ever as it has been since I long ago began the major weight loss and fitness journey, that journey is a focal point of my personal religion, if I could be said to have one.

The journey waxes and wanes but it is of major import to this process of aging backwards.

At the moment though I have to bnoogie out to an assignment so will walk some first.

I ran across an interesting blog today while searching for something else.
oneyeartoenlightenment.blogspot.com

Apparently this one is trying a new religion on for a month, trying to find what fits her. She appears to finish this October. I think I'm going to read through her adventure just for fun. Sounds like something I would have done when I was floundering around trying to find myself 17 years ago (now I'm feeling old even though I think I'm the youngest one here it's the concept of talking about how much time has passed. emoticon )

Yesterday I had the day off and spent several hours pursuing my interest in alchemy. Yikes! That's some heavy stuff, but I'm determined to slog on thru. I've found alchemy quite helpful in my fitness journey---transmutation and all that!

In light of all our delicious squirrel energy from yesterday, I found it very interesting that the daily om this morning was all about Squirrel Energy. So I thought I would share it with you guys in case you don't get these emails. emoticon

Squirrel Medicine
Affirming an Abundant Future

Squirrel medicine reminds us to set aside a portion of our most precious resources as an investment in the future.

Native Americans considered all living beings as brothers and sisters that had much to teach including squirrels. These small creatures taught them to work in harmony with the cycles of nature by conserving for the winter months during times when food was plentiful. In our modern world, squirrels remind us to set aside a portion of our most precious resources as an investment in the future. Though food and money certainly fall into this category, they are only some of the ways our energy is manifested. We can conserve this most valuable asset by being aware of the choices we make and choosing only those that nurture and sustain us. This extends to the natural resources of our planet as well, using what we need wisely with the future in mind.

Saving and conservation are not acts of fear but rather affirmations of abundance yet to come. Squirrels accept life’s cycles, allowing them to face winters with the faith that spring will come again. Knowing that change is part of life, we can create a safe space, both spiritually and physically, that will support us in the present and sustain us in the future. This means not filling our space with things, or thoughts, that don’t serve us. Without hoarding more than we need, we keep ourselves in the cyclical flow of life when we donate our unwanted items to someone who can use them best. This allows for more abundance to enter our lives, because even squirrels know a life of abundance involves more than just survival.

Squirrels use their quick, nervous energy to enjoy life’s adventure. They are great communicators, and by helping each other watch for danger, they do not allow worry to drain them. Instead, they allow their curious nature to lead the way, staying alert to opportunities and learning as they play. Following the example set by our squirrel friends, we are reminded to enjoy the journey of life’s cycles as we plan and prepare for a wonderful future, taking time to learn and play along the way.

I'm glad you like the picture as well Eydie. The round goddesses always remind me of my baby belly LOL.

Oh squirrels were a riot. I was a regular Ellie May growing up. We lived in the country so I could be. We raised dogs, and had numerous cats, mostly out doors. I've had pet ducks and chickens. I even had a pig in the house, BTW they are really clean as house pets. No shedding, no pet dander. Mine was even litter box trained. She barked instead of grunting.

I'm not afraid of many things but I have an irrational fear of snakes and have had since I was about 8 and happened up on one that got into the house. Until then they didn't bother me. I'm better now I don't run like the village idiot as long as it's out side I can back away and if it's at the zoo or something I don't get too close. Lizards are fine it's just snakes. i don't think I could have one in the house. *shivers*

Good morning Goddesses!

Eydie, I'm glad you like the picture! I like the round, fertile Goddess images myself, maybe because I'm round. LOL

I bet it was such fun having squirrels as pets. And they are just so smart! The rats also liked to sit on your shoulder and hide in your hair. I was surprised that my cat (whose name is Evil Kitty Baby) ignored the rats. His mom was a wild cat, so he has always had a feral streak in him, and was very bad to catch birds and other small animals (hence the name, that is what I would shriek at him as I rescued his latest victim). But he paid absolutely no attention to the rats in the cage.

Megan also wanted a chinchilla, but we never got one of those. I don't know what it is with her and exotic pets. She had a snake when she moved to Kentucky, and left it with me. Now, I like snakes, but I do NOT want to have to feed them. And this one wouldn't eat frozen mice, she would only eat live ones. So my husband had to do the honors, I just couldn't stand it. I finally found her another home.

I hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Hugs,
Lisa

My mother bought a huge bird cage actually. This was before the chinchillas and sugar gliders were popular pets so we had to kind of make it up as we went. She got what i assume was a rats exercise wheel. We didn't have any other indo pets at the time so the cage was left open for them to come and go as they pleased. They always returned to thier cage at night and mother had me put them up if were were having company. Some people would just have fits. She fixed a box in the bottom for them to go in and rigged a platform with a nest up higher in the cage.

They are amazingly clean pets believe it or not. and really funny. They like to sit on your shoulder and hide in long hair. LOL.

Lisa that is so funny. That poor dog! Funny part is 2 of the cats I'm sure would ignore any critter in a cage. Pearl and Smokey are far to lazy to attack anything that moves. Sonny on the other hand is very energetic and tries to swat birds through the window. He knocked himself a little silly the other day over a dove perched on the deck. I'm not sure what he would do with any rodent in the house.

I think having pet squirrels would be amazing. What did you keep them in? We used to have a chinchilla but had to find her a new home when we moved. They live a very lon time but are not easy pets to have. I had pet rats for a while growing up and my dad especially was very fond of them. We ended up with 14 at his house at one time because we happened to get a new one and found out later she had gotten herself knocked up in the pet store. She had 8 babies! 4 male, 4 female, we had never had males before, they stunk something awful but were very sweet.

100+ lbs to lose.

My daughter had 4 girl rats, and they were so sweet! Except to my dogs. They really hated my dogs, who were so curious about them. They would reach their little hands out of the cage trying to get to them. One of them one time caught ahold of my spaniel's long hair on her ears and yanked hard, and sent the poor thing yelping from the room. I was laughing so hard I couldn't even go console her. My cat, on the other hand, decided rats in a cage were totally beneath his notice. LOL

Oh Lisa that sounds like fun. Good luck with the meeting you chair.

I'd allow her a rat but I'm sure the cats wouldn't like it. I got dirty looks over the fish. Dogs are funny about squirrels aren't they? it's a personal offense that that critter came into the territory. My cats on the other hand watch helplessly and meep at the squirrels. I think it's a call for assistants LOL!

I decorate my alter on Mabon for the full of the Autumn. I'm betting my DD gets into it this year, help "scavenge" for things in the yard to bring in and decorate with. Then we have a small feast. My hubby participates in the feast but it think it is to pacify me.

Good morning everyone -

I'm sorry I haven't been checking daily. The Embroidery Guild of America's national seminar is in a few weeks, and I have to chair one of the meetings. So preparations for that have been keeping me fairly busy this past week. It is messing with my joyous anticipation of the seminar! emoticon

Squirrels really are cute little things! I have several that visit my bird feeders too, and my little chihuahua mix takes that so personally. LOL She hates having squirrels in her yard. Of course the squirrels treat her so disrespectfully. emoticon If you like the squirrels, you would like domesticated rats. They are actually a lot like squirrels, except for the tail. They have a lot of personality and are so smart! They like interacting with their people too. My daughter's rats knew their names, and would come when you called them if they felt like it (kind of like a cat).

Is anyone making plans for Mabon? The study circle I belong to is making plans for a ritual and then a nice dinner afterwards. I'm very excited, as it has been forever since I had anyone to celebrate the sabbats with! emoticon

Have a great Tuesday!

Hugs,
Lisa

Good morning GG's! I hope everyone is having a Tantalizing Tuesday Morning! Our Jumpy Squirrel (DD named it) is running around on the deck this morning getting the evil eye from the mocking birds LOL. He's eating bird seed. I bought some with too much corn in it and the little fellow has been visiting ever since. I like him. When I was DD age I had 2 pet squirrels, babies who's mother had a fight with a neighbors car and lost, so it take me back to a happy place seeing him running around out there. Of course I domesticated my 2 until they would have never survived in the wild, but they were fun to have running around the house.

Good morning Ladies!

I hope you all are having a spectacular Sunday morning. My hubby and daughter are making low cal soybutter banana bread. It's funny watching them cook as I am normally the chief cook and bottle washer.

Good evening GGs! Just wanted to remind everyone that if you want to participate in the new weekly challenge, I've posted it in the Hearth of the Mother forum, with a preview in this week's challenge thread.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Amanda that makes perfect sense. Sometimes success is all in the way you look at it.

I read the spark and it says basically to do what you are planning to do Lisa, see where you are then baby step your way to where you want to be. And as far as tracking food goes, I know when I've gone off track before I ever sit down to my tracker. But I tell myself, I get to start over every day, because it's a new day. If I have more on days than off days, I'm moving in the right direction. Small goals move us to big accomplishments.

Judging yourself only makes you not want to track. Somethings you have to just let go and say, I'll be on tomorrow.

My second favorite team on here (this being the first) is the slowest loser. I am a turtle and I'm proud of it! emoticon

Good for you, Lisa! Taking your own successes, like yours with exercise, and using it to motivate yourself and glean lessons to appy in another area is extremely powerful. You *know* you can make positive changes in your life--because you've done it! You know the thrill of being in the zone and totally enjoying these healthy new activities, and you know sometimes you only can do a little bit--but it's all part of a new way of being.

I started with exercise, too, have changed my eating in small ways, and I'm trying to transfer my weight loss success to decluttering--letting go of the excess stuff that weighs me down.

Oh, you said something else that I think is really important--about not judging yourself harshly. Years ago I took a number of intensive personal growth workshops and worked on reprogramming thoughts and attitudes and challenging core beliefs. I've done work with Louise Hay's affirmations from You Can Heal Your Life. And I did several years of intensive EMDR therapy to deal with incest issues and PTSD.

All that work has been so valuable, in that I really like and accept myself at any weight. I'm totally enjoying losing the weight, but it doesn't make me any better or more lovable--though it does make me stronger & healthier, and I look better too! emoticon When we really love ourselves the way we are, we want the best for ourselves, and we want to treat ourselves well--nurturing and protecting our bodies and spirits. I think it's important to move toward the goals you want for yourself, rather than away from what you despise in yourself now. Does that distinction make sense?

Anyway, I want to check in with my 2 other main teams. And I should probably get off my soapbox now! emoticon

Blessed Be, Amanda

Good morning everyone! Today is my Friday, since I'm off tomorrow. emoticon emoticon

Amanda, congrats on being sober for a year and a half! And also on your 45 pounds gone! That is so awesome!

I have had such great success increasing and improving my exercising using a basic goal of 10 minutes a day, I think it would help me greatly to use those principles on my eating. I started out with 10 minutes a day, because that is a small goal, and one I could easily achieve even if I didn't feel good. Now I actually enjoy and look forward to my exercising on most days, and on those other days if 10 minutes is all I can do, then that is good too. One week in July I got over 1,000 minutes, which is a personal record I am so proud of!

So my thinking is to use these baby step principles to help with my eating. I struggle with binging and emotional eating, and I am so addicted to sugar. If I have no sweets in the house, I have been know to eat straight sugar right from the bag which is terrible. And I put so much judgement against myself as I track my food, I almost give up before I start. I have always done this, because I had the opposite problem when I was younger. I starved myself to feel in control. So my first goal is to get over the judgement aspect. I prefer to track using Weight Watchers points system, so I think my first goal is to track and count points without having a set amount of points each day. Then work towards staying on my plan.

Thank you guys so much for your encouragement and tips! You guys are the best!

Cool ideas, Eva! emoticon I especially agree about the consistency factor. It doesn't do a lot of good to attempt to go from wherever you are now to perfection all at once. Rather, by deciding what you want to work on, then making a fist little change, then another, slowing getting used to new activities and choices, adding others over time: babysteps emoticon and slow progress emoticon may not seem strong or sexy or "enough" but the prpgress you see over time emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon can't be argued with, and is a whole lot easier to maintain!

Best luck to all of us as we build or healthier habits and routines!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good Morning Ladies!

Lisa I'm sorry to see you are having a time of it. I'm like Amanda, one thing I won't give up is my morning coffee. I only use cream, but it's my daily "sin" so to speak. We have dessert around here at night but usually it's something like fresh fruit with honey. I did make a brown rice pudding the other night, but as it is whole grain and mine is not all that sweet so I figure it's okay.

My big thing was stepping away from the cookies, or as I like to call them my arch nemesis the Evil Keebler Elf. I don't buy them, my MIL does, for my little one (who coincidentally doesn't really care for sweets beyond the occasional bowl of ice cream or the rare cupcake) .

At first I replaced the craving with a healthier alternative, the handy dandy fig bar. Or when the chocolate craving set in a 90 calorie fiber bar or a Kashi cherry dark chocolate bar. I had to ween myself off of it.

My exercise began as extra playtime. Now I still count play time but it is almost always accompanied by "real exercise" which comes during nap time for DD. I'm up to an hour a day but I started with 20 minutes with my wii, just to build consistency. If it was fun I'd do it, if not then not so much. I've learned to enjoy my circuit training and my walks (baby monitor around the house and yard!) I still hate ST but I like the muscles I can see peeking out at me so I figure it's worth it. I also figured out that a good kickboxing session is better than a good yelling session (I have a temper must be I'm a Leo emoticon ).

I think no matter what you do you have to be consistent. My hubby's dietitian told him that if you give up something for a month your taste buds "turn over" That's how I got off soda, I gave it up for a month and then when i tried one the next time it was so sweet it nearly made me sick.

But as Amanda said each person is different. You'll find your groove and when you do everything else will follow. Sometimes it just takes a minute to find your groove emoticon

Good evening, sweet goddesses!

Lisa, I'm sorry you've had a frustrating time with your eating/weight loss. Everyone is different, but I'll toss out a few things that have helped me shed (right around) 45# over the last 10-11 months.

I gradually increased my exercise time--from once at lunch to 3 times a day at morning break, lunch & afternoon break--and speed--I'm now at a very brisk to speed walking pace as I make my circuit of the block, getting around 30 minutes per work day.

Unlike many, I have never been able to write down everything I eat, much less measure it! I track my water, which I finally got up to 6-8 daily, and my veggies and fruits, usually around 8 a day.

I'm lucky that I don't have a sweet tooth. What I did give up (aside from alcohol--empty calories!--more than a year and a half sober emoticon ) is potato chips by the bag. I love them, but I can't stop, so I won't buy a bag. If they come with a meal, like the lovely ketle chips with my Panera sandwich or soup, I will savor every last crumb! But I won't tempt myself with that red light food.

When my wellness committee at work ran a challenge to get 30 minutes of exercise 4 times a week and cut 100 discretionary calories 4 days a week (or more often on each), I started thinking about some substitutions. I discovered Trader Joe's roasted seaweed snacks, which I happen to love, though most of my coworkers don't care for, because they think they taste fishy. I find them tangy, and a great substitute for a salty snack. But the sodium isn't bad, and the calories in a tub are just 60. I also often forgo the "treats" (mostly sweet) that coworkers bring. If I decide to try something, I'll cut a small piece off, and if I don't care for it, I'll throw it away.

But I will not give up certain things--especially my 2 cups of coffee a day. I blend flavored beans and espresso, and I always use honey and half-n-half. I will not compromise there, not for that daily ritual. I don't know if any of this will give you ideas that may prove helpful. My progress has been slow and steady, and I never expect myself to be perfect--and I'm not. But I'm practicing better habits, more consistently than I was before, when I worked my way up to and then maintained 215 on a 5'3" frame. Before much longer, I'll be leaving the obese BMI range behind. I can't wait to just be overweight!! emoticon

Blessed Be, Amanda

Hello Goddesses!

We had some good rain this morning, something I am extremely grateful for! My trees were looking a bit droopy, and I was thinking I would have to water them this evening. But now they got a drink without my help.

I am so frustrated with my eating and no weight loss. The biggest loser challenge I was in just ended, and I am about the same as when I started it. I have the exercise thing down now, thanks to my goal of 10 minutes a day. So I am thinking maybe I can use that same process on my eating plan, and baby-step my way to sticking with it. (Amanda will be proud of me!) emoticon So this week my goal is to just write everything down and calculate the points. Then next week my goal will be to stay on plan for 2 days, then 3 days, and so on until I can manage to stay on my plan.

Eva, it sounds like you have recuperated from your tummy problem! The froggie lunch was so cute. emoticon

Amanda, I'm sorry you are having such a time with your computer! That is so frustrating. Mine is getting older too, so I probably should start planning on a replacement so I don't have major trauma when it dies.

I hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Hugs,
Lisa

Good Morning Goddesses!

Amanda we love our crotchety old computers LOL Mine feels it should update 3 times a day it seems. I'm thinking it's a hit that it wants meals too, as it's in the kitchen (bad joke)

Well Lisa Our fall weather hasn't lasted long but we are at least back in the low 90's instead of low 100's. I'm still calling it cooler weather!

We've had fun with it being cool enough to go actually run around. My froggish blog will tell you all about my being a momma frog yesterday emoticon Rib-bit....

Then when Jim come home he took little bit back out so I could finish dinner. I think that child could swing all day if our arms would hold out to help push her higher. I think this is the real reason i've been doing all the bicept curls! emoticon

Good morning, Glorious Goddesses!

Last night, I Sparked with my BBs and my SAssies, but when I tried to catch up with the GGs, my crotchety computer decided to freeze up on me. Grr! emoticon But when I huddled with the team this morning, I found *2* new members!! emoticon
I am so happy to have more gorgeous goddesses to commune and carouse with! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Oops! Gotta get ready for work! I'm starting with the GGs tonight, for sure! emoticon

Good morning everyone!

Eva, that is so interesting that women do full moons and men do dark moons. I do think I respond more to the full moon. I will have to ask my husband which he feels drawn to.

I envy you your fallish weather. We will have summer all the way through September, then hopefully fall will start to cool things off in October. However, I have worn shorts on Thanksgiving before, but just once. emoticon

Have a happy Tuesday!

Lisa

No need for apologies! We are an easy going bunch here:)

Lisa, full moons bring an extra ordinary amount of orders for me, as do dark moons. I don't understand it but it cycles. Women do full moon men do the dark moon. Go figure. LOL so I worked all night! But I had the window open so that the moon could watch over me while I did it.

We have had such beautiful weather the last few days. It's been in the 80's here and the trend is suppose to keep going for a few more days. In the mornings I've been throwing open all the windows and letting the fresh air sweep out the house. It's feeling Fallish to me. But we didn't have a spring, not really, so I welcome the early cool temps even if they are temporary! I bet it's going to be one more cold winter though.

Have A Happy Tuesday Ladies!

You don't need to apologize. It is perfectly okay to have your daily greeting thread separate. Or you can put it here. We are very flexible. emoticon

Good morning everyone!

I love the huddle you posted this morning, Eva. I am so NOT a Monday person, as work feels like pure drudgery to me on Mondays, and I'm so grumpy normally. But I had determined that this day would be a good day, and your huddle reminded me to look for the magic in my Monday. How can a day be bad if you can find the magic in it?
emoticon So thank you for that thought! I'm going to make it my status; I hope you don't mind. emoticon

I had a great weekend. Our "cold front" that I snickered about on Friday really did make a difference in the feeling of the days. I guess because it took our humidity out, the days did not feel so blistering hot. Yesterday was especially delightful, even though our high was 93. It was a comfortable 93. So I'm definitely eating my words from Friday. emoticon emoticon

I like the idea of giving goodies to those who work on the weekly challenges. And I agree the leader who sponsors the challenge should give them out. It is a good way to share the work. Amanda, I think your challenge on organizing will be great! So I will plan on taking the week after you. emoticon

I enjoyed the full moon too. I always sleep with my blinds open when the moon is full, and I love it when I wake up to find the moon peeking in on me. Did anyone do anything special to mark the full moon? I meant too, but as usual the time just got away from me. emoticon I'm working on that though.

I hope you all have a Marvelous, Magickal Monday!

Hugs,
Lisa

Good morning goddesses! emoticon I hope you all have a Happy Monday.

I lived outside this weekend or so it feels. The temps were A LOT lower so we hit the park yesterday for family fun and a picnic. Today we can tell we have all seen just a hint too much of sun. but we had fun in any case!

How was your weekend?

I like that plan, Eva! I'm looking forward to taking turns, sharing the work and the play! emoticon

Sounds good to me. I think it would be encouraging to get a "participation trophy" for just reporting your success. Should the leader sponsoring the weeks challenge be the one responsible for sending out the goodies at the end of the weekly challenge?

Pamela we had a beautiful moon last night too. I'm glad you got to see it before the rain set in :) We are expecting rain today. I'd like to go out and see the meteor shower tonight if it's all clear.

emoticon Good morning and Happy Saturday! I got outside to gaze at the beautiful full moon last night-not a cloud to be seen; then, just a couple of hours later, major thunderstorms moved in! We had quite a show of lightening and very loud thunder off & on thru the night and early morning hours. We definitely needed the rain, the grass, trees and other plants are smiling this morning!

Have a great weekend! Blessings to you all!

We have team points to "buy" goodies. I actually like the idea of a small goodie going to anyone who reports, whatever their results, with bigger goodies--ribbons, trophies, medals, whatever to those who have the most success. Just a thought! What say y'all?

Sure I'll post it tonight and send an email out to the members. I hope we have a fair number to decide to participate. Should there be a reward for completing each weekly challenge?

Happy Friday everyone! emoticon emoticon emoticon

We got a little rain yesterday, and it was wonderful. The weather person was talking about our "cold" front that will be moving through, dropping our temps to a more "comfortable" 93. Okay, to me the words "cold" and "comfortable" do NOT relate to a temp of 93. emoticon I guess it is all relative! But everything looks refreshed and green this morning.

Eva, I think your idea is great. Do you want to take the first week? emoticon

I hope everyone has a Fantastic Friday!

Hugs,
Lisa

Excellent! Who wants to start? We could begin on the weekend which lets the working folks think, plan and implement before the work week starts.

I wanted to be sure to greet my fellow goddesses before heading out to my first allergy clinic appointment and then work. I think I can squeeze in a few yoga moves and PT exercises first though. Have a Fun and Friend-Filled Friday!

We could take the ideas of setting up a weekly challenge like a round robin, that wayit's not such a brain racker for one person. New challenge from a leader each week, and leave it open to suggestions from members as well, a "what would you like to attempt" kind of thing. What do you all think?

Good morning everyone -

We are getting a little rain here, and that is so wonderful! It is definitely a welcome break from hot and sunny.

Tonight is Project Runway night! Woo hoo! I really enjoy that show. It is so interesting to get a peak inside of what goes into the ideas the designers come up with.

Have a great Thursday!

Hugs,
Lisa

My computer keeps freezing up, so I don't finish my Sparking before calling it a night! Grr. emoticon

Great ideas--I'd say go for them! Though for myself, a new challenge every day sounds a bit daunting. I kind of like the idea of weekly challenges with some discussions of what's easy, hard, fun about the habits/activities. That way there's time to try ideas somebody else suggests before moving on to something else.

As a committed babystepper, I'm also good with reminding people it's OK to alter a challenge to make it fit. It's OK to work your way up to a target. If you are doing more than you were before, that can be success, even if you haven't reached a certain target number yet.

My group posts the challenge on the message boards daily but also sparkmails the members. Usually it's ST exercises, but i don't see why it couldn't be a challenge for the day to get in your freggies or your water. Even something as simple as 10 minutes of fresh air. Nothing too complicated. I think the sparkmail daily with a challenge in it might draw members to become active because they will be reminded we are still here trucking along!

Good morning everyone! Whew, I made it to hump day! emoticon

I'm picking up my Tarot cards again. I have decided to take the Fool's journey, taking one card from the major arcana and working with it for a week. I thought I might post my thoughts here in our group, and would love to read any thoughts you guys might want to share too. Anyone want to take the journey with me?

Eva, a daily challenge would be fun. Maybe we could also include other healthy habits - water and basic nutrition stuff. Do you have an idea how we could do it? I will think about it too.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Hugs,
Lisa

ooh I hate when I stretch myself too thin! I don't do it so much anymore but i use to keep a full plate constantly.

I've always loved thunderstorms. I even take my little bit outside dancing in the rain, if there is no dangerous lightening.

As for more team participation, I have one team that sends out daily challenges. These are usually fitness challenges and the members report in once they have completed the day's challenge. I get an email every morning about 10 am. I know it's swiping an idea but the challenge doesn't have to be fitness for the day but the daily email might serve as a reminder that "Hey we are here and we miss you!"

Good morning everyone. My energy is at a very low ebb right now. I seem to have overcommitted myself in several areas, and I'm feeling very stressed right now. I'm going to get through these commitments, and then I'm going to start shucking some stuff.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Hugs,
Lisa

When I lived in Texas, I enjoyed those summer thunder and lightening storms--quite exciting and entertaining. I was a skinny young thing and handled the heat rather better than I do now.

Wishing everyone a marvelous week!

So how can we get more folks to participate? emoticon emoticon emoticon

I did cardio and ST then took a long deserved bath. All of that is AFTER I did the mound of laundry.I'm learning to draw, mostly because Bug (DD) wants me to constantly draw something for her. Apparently I make a decent rabbit but my unicorns "need so much help momma."

Lisa great on finding pieces for your embroidery. That's something I can't do but I've always admired. I can sew and i'm a mad woman with a glue gun! But needlepoint and embroidery are something i'm just no wiz at.

Amanda how did it feel to get back into the swing of Yoga? And I hope your sister's week gets better.

It rained here around midnight last night. A beautiful electrical storm with it. The flashes woke me up but my little one and my hubby never moved. I enjoy storms, well some storms.
