10-31-19 I don't usually like Halloween. Too much weird stuff going on. That is WHY we got married on All Saints Day, 44 years ago! To help with sending love to everyone! We sent out 1,000 invitations! MANY people came to celebrate us! (We were in the entertainment industry)
Yesterday, I ate a fun sized 'snickers', it tasted like wax. YUCK! I don't eat candy anymore, because of SP! Happy, safe Halloween! emoticon emoticon I will be giving out treats to the children who come to our door as a 6' tall blue butterfly! emoticon

Gill - I had my haircut recently. It feels good to have it done by a stylist.

Pat - good luck with the installer today. Hope that all goes well.

It is a cool cloudy day here but we are not expecting rain or snow (lol). My husband did a lot of yard work this past week and on the weekend a couple of the neighbours came to help cut the ivy in our back yard. One of the neighbours wanted it done as it was spreading and killing his trees but the previous owner would not let him cut it. Anyways somehow my husband twisted his knee and he has been hobbling around for the past few days. It is quite swollen and bruised and I keep telling him to go see someone. So maybe today he will head to the clinic.

Halloween and I will miss seeing the grandchildren but I do have a great picture of them

Have a great day

I haven't had a ponytail in decades! emoticon Due for a trim next week, too, but it hardly needs it.

Floor installer is here. Thankfully, I didn't have to remove the moulding, but I did have to move all the furniture into the bedroom and dining room. I was tired. DH helped move the recliner over the lip of the floor which now ends at the edge of the dining room. The rest of the time he was in his man cave. emoticon

I've promised myself a haircut next week! My hair has got quite long and I just scrape it back in a high pony-tail. It needs to be trimmed to get rid of the thin ends. I'll probably keep it much the same......... but might treat myself to a new hairband.

I was going to get my blood work done today, however I noticed that he put the cholesterol fasting test so I need to go tomorrow or Friday as I missed this morning. Funny though that he did not add the A1C. I am just going to a clinic but still.

I am getting my hair done today and it really needs it and then the chiropractor this evening. I think it is helping as I am sleeping better and not waking with a sore back so that is something

….:::Good morning friends! I hope the day finds you well and happy!
And Pam, I am going to call my insurance company and find out if the shingles (second one)
is covered. And the reimbursement thing sounds absurd! What proof do we have is RIGHT---No way would I fall for that line either, certainly not to the tune of $200!

Although I have already helped decorate a studio set for Christmas, I hadn't even begun thinking about cards. You're way ahead of the game to me!

A couple years ago, I was told I'd have to pay for the shingles vaccine in advance, then the insurance would pay me back. Uh huh, then what proof do I have that they wouldn't try to wrangle out of it some way? $200 gone. We have a new insurance company now and I'm over 65, so I should look into it.

I'm washing bed sheets, picking up some large plastic sheets from a FreeCycle person that I will use to cover the patio table, then going to Mom's to give her a ring (costume jewelry) that hopefully will satisfy her desire to have a ring to wear. And hopefully, no one will steal this one. I did enlist the help of the police when someone stole her wedding ring right after she was moved to the nursing home area, and it was returned surreptitiously to a dresser drawer in her old apartment, which I was still cleaning out. She continues to ask me for it, but I dare not let her have it again.

Back home, I'll be fitting the living room furniture into the dining room again so the wood flooring can be installed tomorrow and Friday. I will be SOOO grateful to have that done. Oh dear, I just realized I have to pull up the shoe moulding as well. Can I count carpentry as my exercise for the day?

To find the Holiday missions go to the Fly Lady website

www.flylady.net/

Then click on the 'Launch Pad' picture - which should take you to here

www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Then click on 'Cruising Through the Holidays'

Hope that gets you there! I find it so helpful.

Sweet -the cards are lovely—I can’t seem to find the Christmas missions...how do I find it/them?
I’ve had Shingles twice, so get the vaccine when doc tells me to. After turning 65, Medicare or supplement has always paid for Shingles, Flu, Pneumonia.

Angela - glad that you can get the flu vaccine free. That's wonderful.

Sparkling - yes that is a big temp drop. Hope that the warmer temps come back to you soon. I also have family in Cali and praying for everyone. The firefighters have such a tough job to do.

Jan - let me know if you find out that the shingles shot is free to anyone over 65. I will be 65 next year.

Sweet - wouldn't that be cool to make marionette cards.

Thanks Linda and I will check once again about the cost. I do have Medicare--and last time I asked (about two years ago was told they did not cover). Will call the number on back of my card to find out. I appreciate your reply Linda.

2b - my doctor said to get the shot when I am completely well. I have read that medicare will pay for it if you are 65 or over/have a disability. The people that I have heard from swear by the shingle shot. If I were you, I would get it. Yes, if you did have to pay over $200 for it - that is ridiculous.

I am feeling a lot better from shingles. However, getting rid of the sore and scab on my face will take awhile. Therefore, I have not been going to the gym or church. I am too self conscious of it. I am exercising and doing housework. This weekend was laundry. Today was dusting and sweeping the hardwood floors.

Pat - happy that you received the drill and roses.

Gill - your day sounds lovely. I hope that you had fun with your friend. It is great that you made your Christmas cards. In my world, it seems like few people exchange them much anymore. Yours are great.

Sparkling - I love your photos. Very cute.

Angela - we had a very rainy and windy day. But today it turned out to be beautiful. Unfortunately, this is one of the few days I have never even gotten outside.

DJ - it is great to see you back. I am glad that you are back to your exercise. Also, happy that your headache is gone.

Sunday is Renew your Spirit day on Fly Lady!

I'm lucky that I'm not working today - I still have a slight headache from the flu shot I had yesterday (not too bad)

I went out for a run/walk this morning which was wonderful. I came home and had a long bubbly bath and washed my hair.

I've taken the time to make myself a healthy roast dinner, and this afternoon I'm going to go on the bus to visit my best friend. Later this evening, I've promised I'll snuggle up on the sofa and watch an nice film (I've got a little collection of feel-good films like "You've Got Mail" etc)

Have a lovely day!

Wonderful stuff - you look great in your butterfly outfit! Love it!

I just noticed on the Fly Lady website (because I don't visit there every day) that Cruising Through the Holidays has begun - already on Day 6!

I've been doing this with my Holiday Control Journal since 2013 and it's SO helpful!

Today I got up to speed with the Missions, and made some Xmas cards which I enjoyed doing. Very simple 'makes' using old Xmas cards and blank cards.

This is for my brother and his wife - they're quite down to earth and artistic.

This is for my sister and her husband - they're more complicated, but love rich things, fast things, red things, birds and ornaments

This is for my son, his wife, and my grandson - my d-i-l is a crafter herself, so will enjoy the 'make', my grandson will like the cheerful gingerbread man, my son will just see it as being typical of me card probably!

I enjoyed the making. Sometimes I do more complicated things - but this year - just the simple. I'm pleased with the effects.

PLEASE stay healthy everyone!

emoticon AND continuing: 10-26-19 Yesterday I volunteered & performed at the Nature Preserve. I used 3 marionettes to 'greet', they call me an Ambassador, I like that! There were about 500 people that came to the event. The marionettes said hi to most of them. 3 hours of REALLY moving. I had the energy to do it, because of my 're-'boot'. Feeling FABULOUS! emoticon The good thing is I am continuing my goal! This is Chris idea from THE SPARK. emoticon 80-100% days. That sounds like fun, Pat. I noticed that all the Xmas trees have gone up around town - each building has a bracket which can take a flag or a Xmas tree - and they all now have small Xmas trees with the lights on them (ready for switch on at the end of November I think). I couldn't believe it when I saw them up already! I guess they're maximizing the spending period - there are only two more pay-days (end of October and end of November) - we mostly get paid monthly here in the UK.

Last evening I helped DIL with the final decorations on a set of the TV studio. Christmas music must be taped now to give time for edits. Then we went to one of her storage rooms to put away florals that were taken out of the studio, and rearranged a large lobby area where bigger silk plants and bushes are now stored "artistically."

I'm excited to go to her and her husband's (Son #2) house for grilling out this afternoon. They have a new puppy I'm anxious to see. All five of the grandpuppies will be there. Let's see if the boys remember that their mother asked for a new cordless drill for small household fixes.

My tap water tastes foul - I use a Brita filter jug, and I have a Brita filter water bottle! I've taught myself to prefer room temperature water - it's less of a shock on the stomach apparently.

No trouble drinking water here. I've found a brand I like (Deja Blue), but I wish I liked the city water from a Brita Filter pitcher so there would not be so many water bottles to recycle. I like very cold water, so I put a bottle in the freezer. When I get a few frozen crystals as I drink, that's my favorite beverage. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I don't find it easy to drink water either - use all the tricks you can to make it more likely that you'll drink. I have a water bottle I put by my bed - I only put about 200 ml in it, but I drink it as soon as I wake up. That does, at least, start the day right!

I've been having headaches off and on for a week. So, today, I made sure to drink more water. I'm horrible about drinking anything. But, I do feel better this evening.

Finally back on the exercise bike and found a digital recording of a walking w/ weight tape, so I've ridden the ol' bike with arm exercises. First time without and tonight with tiny weights (1 pound each?)

I've been inconsistent with everything for way too long. So happy to see this group is still here!

I am totally tired and slept a lot. I have also started to go to a chiropractor as my back is sore. this one does not do the standard cracking but took a bunch of x-rays and is adjusting using an instrument of some sort. My back is really crooked and my neck is also. So I will be going 3 times a week for the next 4 weeks to see if we can make any improvement. Fingers crossed

After an hour and a half of ironing and changing sheets, we went out to dinner at Longhorn. We shared a 12 oz. ribeye, but neither of us could finish our portion. Leftovers!

Today my friends and I are lunching at First Watch. Joining the Sunshine Club earns each member a free entree when the birthday rolls around. Free is good. So many other restaurants only offer a free dessert or appetizer now.

Hello, Linda. You've done well to do anything. Something like shingles can be all-consuming, and make you feel so tired.

Go gently. How wonderful that Marla set up Fly Lady - she has advice for every situation.

Hello to all!! I have not done much this week. However, I have exercised around the house because I am not well enough to go to the gym. I need to try to get a bit done around the house other than dishes and laundry.

Angela - take care. That is a scary situation.

I know it is only Wednesday but I am looking forward to the weekend. my blood sugar crashed last evening which was really scary as I became lightheaded and dizzy and slightly nauseous. I thought about going to the hospital but got some sugar into me and had my husband keep an eye on me. Today I am very tired so am taking it easy

Have a great day

Stayed up to clean the dishes from dinner so I wouldn't have to look at the mess when I got up on my birthday. The dinner was fabulous -- perfectly cooked salmon, cubed Yukon gold potatoes and steamed green beans. We walked before dinner. It was still a bit sunny, but brisk.

Did some yoga wake-up poses and a short video to get the heart rate up this morning. Now it's time to iron, iron and iron. Must have been a lot of important business people to meet last week. Wonder if I taped anything on the DVR that will last that long.

After only 20 days, DH scheduled another TV supplier to change back to satellite. The cable company's system was too complicated and didn't give him the channels he wanted. This one has the Netflix app built in, so there's no need of a different remote.

Need to return the exercise videos to the library this evening. And I'd like to stop by Earth Fare for some lobster tails they have on sale. Good birthday dinner idea, eh?

Thanks to all...the shingles seem not as bad for me as others. The pain is gone. All I have is the nasty sore on the face. Taking my meds and resting more. I do find that I do not have as much energy.

Weekends are always so busy that I never seem to get time to get on here. I am going to have to plan better.

So the house is looking really good now - we got our dining room table and deacons bench delivered on Saturday so that is the last of the furniture. I also went through a lot of the cupboards in the kitchen and cleared off the counter between the kitchen and dining room. Now on to the boxes that are at the side door.

I also went to a little black dress event with my sister on Saturday evening - I had forgotten about it as we had booked it back in August. It was in support of helping women out of domestic violence. Neither my sister nor I own a black dress so we wore black pants and black tops. There were lots of other women there in pants. Overall it was a nice evening but I am not sure if I will attend another one. It was very drawn out.

Sunday was grocery shopping and then my husband got very sick so I was nursing him while doing my cleaning.

Rainy day here but mild. Have a great day

Thank you, Linda, from all the people who don't know what you're going through to protect them. Prayers that healing comes quickly.

Son #1 brought down his boxer and Plott hound yesterday. He was picking up a pair of pants that needed hemming, as he has a meeting with a major client today. He was taking the dogs on a hike, so I went along on a trail marked "difficult" and we walked just shy (.06 mi) of two and a half miles. Came in the house late and started fixing dinner, then showered while the soup was warming. It boiled over and I had a major mess on the stove top. Laid wet paper towels over the mess and cleaned it when I got home from church.

I wasn't content with my effort and really gave the stove top, grates, etc. a thorough cleaning today. Then I tackled the shower doors, tracks and other places where I noticed some scale. I have a few more loads of laundry, too. I think this was a day of accomplishment.

Oh, poor you, Linda! Being socially isolated is bad enough, but having the shingles on your face is really unfortunate - damn. I hope it clears up and doesn't cause you too much pain. Pain in the face is NOT pleasant at all!

Pat - the doctor said I am very contagious to children, pregnant women and anyone that would touch my sore. I may be overdoing it but I am just afraid to spread this. I am even skipping church tomorrow. rarely ever miss but the doctor said be sure no one hugs you, etc. That certainly happens at church with certain people. I am a bit discouraged but I know things could be worse. I am definitely thinking about getting a shingles shot in a few months. I cannot do it while sick. Yes, I thought hubby had forgotten Sweetest Day but he did buy me a mixture of roses and other flowers. A pretty bouquet. So happy that you and your Spark Friend had a great visit.

I had no idea shingles was contagious, but chicken pox is, so that figures. Prayers for you. My husband got the vaccine, but I did not. I'll have to see what the percentage of people who get shingles after having had chicken pox is.

I had totally forgotten that today is Sweetest Day. No doubt that is why the first restaurant my friend and I went to was packed. We ended up at Panera. This was our first time meeting in person. It was a Spark meeting and I was amazed at how much we have in common. Delightful time.

I went to the doctor because I have had a bad sore pop up on my face. It is a little embarrassing. Did not get good news, I have shingles. OMG I hate this. I did get a prescription for it. It will take a few weeks to get rid of it and that is AFTER it scabs. Oh well, nothing I can do about it. Guess I will skip the gym because I don't want to spread it. Hope that you are all having a great day. Happy Saturday.

I have had a "junky" area in my family room for a few months. Really it was paper clutter. Today I decided to look for something in the area and decided to rid myself of some of the junk! So happy I did. It makes a big difference. I also had a good workout and walk today.

It really rained last night but today it is just cloudy and mild. I am glad it is Friday. I cannot work properly today due to a Microsoft global issue. So I am monitoring my inboxes (I have 3 to watch) and am waiting for it to get fixed.

Have a great day

Progress, yes. And then last evening I ended up leaving a mess of paper looking for the script of the play I am in before the dress rehearsal. Never found it. It was on the prop table at the theater. I see now that October is paper month. Ugh. I will do the minimum; that is down the line with organizer Nancy. Maybe I will start calling her Onancy for short as I know I will be referring to her for awhile.

From her second visit, brought three boxes of stuff back in house. Two of them are pretty much put away. One is the dulcimer stuff. Not sure where that will go yet. Inch by inch.

Angela, how'd the vet visit go?
