When giving gifts to people who spend their day around children I try to aim for the me-time gifts, like bath salts or a gift certificate to a spa. For laughs I throw in a pair of earplugs and a package of crybabies (the candy).

this is an old thread, but I am a daycare worker and I never expect gifts, but it is nice to receive them. My favorite gifts have been $5.00 Dunkin Donuts gift card; $10.00 manicure giftcard; A basic black photo frame; a hand knitted scarf; a thermal travel coffee mug, and a christmas cactus plant.

We have done cookie mix in a jar (the kids decorate the jars), homemade treats, homemade angel ornaments (using paper clips, beads & thin ribbon - they are awesome), and if running out of time to do something homemade we do a $5 Tim Horton's gift card in a card for the teachers and bus driver.

When I was little my mother did a lot of baking fir gifts (a tradition I continue), but with my kids I wanted it to be something they did… so they could learn the fun of doing and giving. The first year I had my son make his gifts he was almost two… I got some door hangers made out of that foamie stuff, some stick on foamies in different shapes, and some magnetic strips… I cut the door hangers in half, and had my son show me where he wanted the stickers on half with the hole (by the third or fourth one he took over himself), then I took picture if the kids and put it on the other half of the door hanger and glued the piece he had decorated on top and stuck the magnetic strip on the back… whola! Picture frames for all the nursery workers @ church and for all the family (grandparents & aunts and uncles).
Last year he made soup mix in a jar. I had to measure it, but he could (loves to) pour the stuff out of the measuring cup… this year he is making bird houses with his dad, and he wants to also make cookie mix in a jar…
A couple ideas anyway…
I get Higlights High Five magazine, every issue has a craft on it designed for kids 2-5, that helps me alot because I don't know what to let them try because I don't know what they can do…

I'm wondering what you are getting your child's preschool teacher for Christmas, if anything. I'd like to get my son's teacher something small, as well as our nursery worker at church. Looking for ideas that won't break the bank, but show we care.

Thanks!
