I have gotten interested in Dr. Gundy's plan. It soes seem very restrictive. How could I eat at friends or family or in restaurants?

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

Hi everyone-

I am long since recovered from my EBV illness (back in 1999), but I remembered the name of the vitamins that I took and what helped me get better.

It was All One Active Seniors Multiple Vitamin & Mineral from the Vitamin Shoppe. Back then it was only $29.99 but since the price has increased. It is $58.99 for a 15.9 oz container. It is a powdered vitamin. I used to take it with orange juice (blended) because it is powdered vitamins and doesn't taste good. (By the way, I am not a senior, but that formula worked better than the original vitamins as it contained different stuff in it).

I also used to take oil of oregano, but I would not suggest using the oil - it is wicked to get down and caused me heartburn. It is an excellent antiviral agent. Just purchase regular dried oregano from the store and use about a tsp. per 8 oz of boiling water for a cup of tea twice a day. Or make a pot of oregano tea, simmered for a few minutes with the dried oregano in it. Tastes much better and the indigestion is lessened.

If oregano doesn't agree with you, try making two cups a day of St. John's Wort tea. SJW is a natural antiviral as well. However, if you're on oral birth control it can slip that up and you could get pregnant, and SJW makes you sun sensitive so keep out of the sun while taking it.

Oh! I almost forgot - absolutely drink 2-4 cups of white (unflavored) tea daily, no sugar, no milk. It is a mild tea with greater antioxidants than green tea and doesn't get bitter if you over steep it.

Good luck to you all and I hope you start to feel better soon. -Christine

Hello,

Stopping by to thank _JULEE_ for her post; in special, I would like to thank her for the recipe to treat/hold at bay her HHV-4 breakouts. Since January 16, after a severe sore throat kept me in bed for 2 weeks, I've been showing signs of carrying the virus know as pityriasis rosea, which, for lack of a more diligent research on the side of our traditional occidental medicine, can or cannot be associated to the HHV-7 variation.

In any case, Julee's anti-virus blend of herbs and roots was spot-on in stopping the breakout of new spots, specially on my shoulders and upper-arms. I did what we call in my country "garrafada," or throwing all the ingredients into a bottle and filling it up with alcohol (whiskey or vodka). I've been taking a gulp of this blend twice a day, one in the morning before breakfast, another at night before bed. In comparison to Julee's approach, I know this a rustic way of doing it but I'm short in cash and time so...I guess it will have to do!

I started noticing results within 2 weeks of treatment. Spots started to miraculously rescind. Within 4 weeks, spots on arms, shoulders, and back had completely disappeared, excepted for leaving behind a shaded version of the same. At this point I stopped taking the blend which was a big mistake! Turns out those shaded spots all came back to a full-blown breakout within 2 days of stop taking the medicine. Thus, I urge you to continue drinking this stuff for as long as necessary until there are no vestige of spots anywhere in your body.

I'm not there yet, btw. It appears because I stopped, my cycle had to start all over. Good thing is, after 2 weeks into the new cycle, I'm noticing the same results I've noticed the 1st time around. Spots on arms and shoulders starting to rescind again.

A piece of advice, tho. I have refiled the bottle with alcohol about 3 times already. I can tell the rich taste of the herbs is starting to fade, which may or may not affect the potency of the concussion- most likely it will! For that reason, I would buy two rounds of the blend, that way, while you drink from one bottle, the other one is getting stronger as it seats, resting.

So, here's what I did to find all this stuff. I live in SoCal and we have a big Asian community down here. I thought it would be easy to find the Chinese/Asian part of the recipe just by going to one of these traditional Chinese herbal places. Turns out they are clueless to the western names we give their herbs. So here's a translation:

Skullcap - Huang Qin (1 oz p/ bottle)
Isatidis - Ban Lan Gen (1 oz p bottle)
Licorice Root - Gan Cao or Gan Zao (1 oz p bottle)
Houttuynia Cordata - Pin Yin (Chinese), Giap Ca (Vietnamese)...1 oz p bottle

Everything else found on Ebay:

Lomatium
Osha Root
Yearba Santa
Pleurish Root
Red Root

Oh, and don't forget: 3 gloves of garlic a day and find a way to eat some fresh ginger. I've been adding it to my morning smoothies.

Good Luck!!!

Hello,

I would like to respond to Julee on her analysis of the EBV infection she is suffering from and many others of course. I used to have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and have recovered since June 2015, after 20 years of disease. The only way to cure myself was to become a Natural Doctor and learn from thousands of smart people on the internet.

Please see the critical insight below on Phoenix Rising website board which is part of what allowed me to beat my own Epstein Barr Infection: Please read my full comments on that board discussion topic and those of others. The EBV you have has nothing in common with the standard off the shelf well known EBV virus that gets cured in only 6 months by natural immune action. . Instead, what you have is a powerful strain of EBV that is highly resistant to any immune action, its a super bug virus. This is contrary to your theory that all you have is standard EBV.

Good Health to you,

Abdulrahman

Hi Julie, thanks for asking about me.

I last had my iron checked at the end of April and my levels got up to 40 so a huge improvement. Taking the vit C along with the iron is a big help.

We went on vacation in May and I got complacement and stopped the iron for almost 3 weeks. I changed when I took my thyroid meds which meant I had to wait 4 hours to take my iron and we were out and about by then.

I guess I am finally becoming premenopausal because I just skipped my period for almost 3 months and when it showed up it took all my energy away even though I was back on my iron by then.

I will go for another iron test at the end of July. I should be well above 50 by now, even with skipping 3 weeks.

I followed the AIP diet religiously for almost 2 months. Our vacation interfered with that as well and once we came back I slowly strayed further away. Today is just day 3 of getting back on track with that. I was actually losing weight and noticing a lot of symptoms going away. Sadly I didn't reintroduce all the foods back properly so I don't know which ones were causing the symptoms. Starting over in that area but I do know the symptoms are food related at least so that is something.

How are you doing on the health front? I see on one of your posts that your business is doing well so that is great!

Terri

Terrri, have you followed up on your iron levels lately? If so, how are they doing by now?

You are correct, it is non-heme. You may find that your body more readily absorbs the iron if you take vitamin C with it. It will help alleviate the sore stomach that often accompanies that much iron, too.

Thanks for this info, I will look in to it.
Last week my ferritin was at 16 and the doctor would like me to get to 50, 15 and under is considered low. I have been taking ferritin for quite a few months now. The brand I was taking before barely moved my ferritin up but it did go up to 23. I am now taking Nature Made Iron. I started at one pill and as of last week I was told to take three, I was taking 2 daily for a fair bit. I think I am following all the rules regarding taking iron so it is getting very frustrating. One of these pills is equivalent to 325 mg of ferrous sulfate which is 361% of your recommended daily value. I assume this is probably non heme. I haven't asked a pharmacist so I will try that as well.

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling so good, Terrri!

I completely understand the ferritin issue! My Dr., after this Epstein Barr business, said she thought the EBV was causing my ferritin to not only not go up while taking iron, but to continue to drop.

There are two products that helped me immensely before we knew about the EBV (and no, I have not had my iron or ferritin tested yet, but plan to - apparently the virus costs iron) - Proferrin - heme iron - you can get it in one of the Feosol (often as low as $10-$13 on Amazon; as much as $20 at drugstore - havent chkd walmart yet) preparations as well as by itself (proferrin dot com - not cheap), and Ferritin by Cardiovascular Research (I buy this at Swanson Vitamins dot com - about $12-13). I could take vegetable-based iron (ferrous sulfate, gluconate, etc.) 3 to 4 times a day and my iron levels barely moved - even with a lot of vitamin C going down with the iron. Ferritin continued to fall.

It's worth a thought.

Yeah, my Dr. wouldn't think 2.8 was ok. Sorry. emoticon

Great that you recognized quickly that it was coming back so you could deal with it right away.

I was doing okay until recently. Starting to feel like I did last June with no energy and complete brain fog. Other symptoms as well but those are the worst for me especially combined.

My basic immune system, as far as catching colds or flues is excellent it is the auto immune system that sucks.

I started back doing the auto immune protocol which is similar to the whole 30 I started last august. Sadly I didn't end it properly so I have to start all over again. Today is just day 7 and no improvement yet.

My ferritin levels won't go to where they need to be so now I am taking 3 iron pills a day. I am not anemic. The dr just did a full iron test last week and everything is good but the ferritin so I have added another pill a day. From what I have read low ferritin is the precursor to anemia. My stomach acids are good as far as I know. I don't get heartburn and that is the only symptom I know to check for that.

I take vit D, b12 and a multi as well as 3 iron pills a day. My meds are eltroxin and I am on the lowest dosage. My TSH was at 2.8 last week which the dr says is fine but I don't think it is.

Sorry for rambling!

Terri

LOL Terrri! Everything was written down in 3 places and set reminders on my smart phone - they automatically repeated until discontinued. There were so many days I slept through reminders and had to play catch up. But 85-90% of the days went as planned

Today, I have already had an episode where the virus was trying to make a comeback (a few days of doing too much coupled with not enough sleep - BOOM!). Learning to identify that and put it down fast was a triumphant feeling. Currently doing light ST and cardio to rebuild the physical stamina.

How are you? :)

Glad you are on the mend. You've brought to light something I've wondered about for many years. When I was 16 i got mono (glandular fever here in Australia). Others at school had it too but recovered quickly whilst I didmt attend school on a daily basis for many months. I then got sick again and a blood test revealed I had another glandular type illness which doctors couldn't identify. I'm wondering now whether this was EPV as I had many relapses particularly early on. Great information thank you so much,

Wow, Julee! I am printing this off to study it in more detail, but I thank yo for this. I believe I was probably exposed to the EBV about 15 yrs. ago. Haven't had any flares, but for sure this information helps me be forewarned and forearmed.

HUGS and hope you're feeling better. You had a very difficult year.
