Kim, I did DVR and watch that movie. And no I had never seen it before. Can't believe there was one out there that I had missed. I agree, worth the watch.

I remember Don DeFore from his character, Mr B, on the Hazel show. This was long long before you (and most everybody else) were around. The episode I remember is the one where Hazel buys a color TV, something really unusual and very expensive for the era, and the question was just how blue were Perry Como's eyes.

I also remember an episode from the Donna Reed Show, (she always came down those stairs with a different dress on but always the pearls and heels), where they had invested in the stock market and had enough of a profit to buy a color TV. Which you would think on his wages, I think he was either a Dr or a lawyer, they wouldn't have to worry that much about a big purchase.

Come to think of it, outside of Danny Thomas and Ricky Ricardo, I don't know what any of the TV dads did for a living. They just walked through the scene with a pipe every once in awhile and gave valued advice at the end. Moms never had advice, just cookies. TV moms always made you sit down for milk and cookies after school. My mom made cookies for me one time and burnt the crap out of them. That's when I learned how to bake my own cookies. That was sort of not a good thing.

Well, I'm still alive, so there's that…..

Bern it's a great movie that I discovered last year, it was never popular because it didn't come from a major studio. It's about a hobo who lives in a millionaire's mansion from Nov-March when the owner leaves NYC and goes to stay in his Va estate. So the hobo comes across a homeless WWII vet and invites him to stay with him, then the millionaire's daughter runs away from her finishing school and goes to the mansion to get some clothes from her room only to be discovered by the other 2 who think she is a thief and she doesn't tell them who she is. Her father finds her and she convinces him to pretend he is poor as well and to stay with them, it has some really funny moments, especially when the girl's mother, the ex wife of the millionaire, comes in and helps her daughter out keep up the rouse. There are moments where I can't stop laughing.

Anyway it's definitely a movie you have to watch, my description is not giving it justice at all and has a great message, like at times the poorest of people are truly the richest people.

Kim, I can't recall ever seeing It Happened On 5th Ave, but checked and will set my DVR to record it off TCM @12:15pm eastern on the 24th. I probably have seen it, but then again maybe I missed one. We'll see.

There are so many that I love to watch, most are ones I grew up with like Frosty, Rudolph, Santa Claus is coming to Town, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Night Before Christmas....you know all the Rankin/Bass production movies. Then there are The Muppets Christmas Carol, A Christmas Carol the one with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge, Meet me in St Louis, Holiday Inn, White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, both Miracle on 34th St movies, It Happened on 5th Avenue (great great great movie from the 40s). Santa Clause the Movie is a great film I grew up with, Dudley Moore plays an elf and John Lithgow plays an evil toy manufacturer do I really need to say more? Such a great movie.

I have three favorites that I usually reserve until Christmas Eve or Day depending.

ELF - this one is new to my top three list, it appeals to my hokey quirky side.

White Christmas - who can say no to a skinny Rosie, Mandy Keep A Minister Handy, and of course the SISTERS song - she wore the dress and I stayed home.

Holiday Inn - One of those wonderful movies made during the war with Bing and Fred in their prime. I love Louise Beavers, she was great.

I like all the "old" ones with the exception of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I can relate to Clark Griswold wanting to have that, "perfect family Christmas". :)

It’s a Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th Street
A Christmas Carol
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman

Nora - I know Love Actually is your favorite. Every year I keep saying I'm going to watch it and hopefully it will be this year:)

I only have one..... It's a Wonderful Life. I like it because it shows how our lives go on to affect other's and theirs to affect other's and so forth like a pyramid! It is a great movie for any time you feel like you don't matter not just Christmas!

The early ones, Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, Bell of St Marys, The original Scrooge just to name a few. I like the originals that aren't so modern. Oh It's a wonderful life starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.
