DYK - I'm sparking but not very bright - I am suffering through a cold.
DYK - I want to get on the program but typing this has tuckered me out so it might be nap time
DYK - I love the holidays - so much cheer - wish some people (like my wife) would slow down a little and enjoy the holiday. Who really cares if she bakes only 10 different kinds of cookies this year - so long as she cooks my favorites - those PB things with kisses on them, Butterscotch scotties, and of course Toll House chocolate chips with nuts.

DYK - I'm okay with counting avocado calories but why should Christmas cookies count? They should be free!

Let's protest - Occupy Chicago!!! That's right - we will protest until the World's largest cookie factory (Nabisco) starts producing 0 calorie cookies.

We are entitled to 0 calorie cookies!!!

Let's wait for winter to end before we occupy Chicago though - it snows there (a lot).

Paul I know what you mean, I joined a few other teams and there was only a couple of people active and even they weren't on every day. It was kinda sad. Sorry I havent been chatty here... DYK - 40,000 Spark Points!!!!
DYK - I need more active Spark Friends! I use to have 10 or so people on 3 teams I use to Spark with and co-encourage daily. Sad to say - 7 have been missing for a while and 3 only show up once in a while. I see a trend - the less people I interact with the less motivated I am. Maybe not a true cause and effect.
DYK - This is the best team (outside of my Lose 2 Win team which rocks).
DYK - My other two teams - Golden Retriever Lovers and Outdoor Lovers really should be shuttered - no one is active any more.
DYK - Not complaining - they were dead when I took them over, got active for bit and died off.

Melly - I still can not jog much more than a minute - Find a park and walk jog. I held back because of what other people think and you know what - they either do not care, are supportive or do not matter. Go do it!

I jogged outside today. It was cold. I felt strong and got to 2.25 miles. I usuaully do 3 miles or more but it was freezing and it was dark outside. So dark I was turning my phone on when cars drove by so they could see the light and see me!

Dusty, Karen,
DYK that I realized that I was an emotional eater also.

I got hurt and upset with my Mr. Wonderful last month and I WANTED TO EAT SOMETHING! ANYTHING!!!

But I drove around and prayed and thought about it. I realized that that's how I got to be up to 380 at one point. Eating helped raise my serotonin.

Well, I went to the library. Got some books out and started to read while there.
Then when I was calm, I went home and cooked dinner for my "Mr. Wonderful" (my daughter told me SHE would not have made his dinner, that I was too nice) After he ate, I told him to sit down and listen to me. I communicated my thoughts and feelings. My 29 year old daughter was there to help him hear me. When it was all over, he apologized, we hugged and all was well.

A Victory! I DID NOT NUMB MY PAIN.

DYK -Dusty I am more emotional too. It is tough when you used to eat to comfort feelings etc. Now I try to use exercise when I am upset. That is not always possible. I am stuck trying to find things. I even tried reading or surfing the internet.

DYK Paul get on the machine. Sweat is a good thing! Plus it will make you feel good too.

DYK My sinuses are acting up again. I feel an infection coming on. I guess the sinus surgery I had in 2010 did not last ....

DYK I actually jogged outside in the wind and rain some yesterday? I then switched to the treadmill indoors. However the treadmill is now harder for me than outside.

I forget what sweat is....
I have distant memories of a machine - Elliptical was its name and I kind of remember dripping liquid on the floor around it. Yes, that's right, it is coming back to me - when one is suffering hard on exercise machinery one leaks liquid called sweat. Yes... Coming to think of it - the Elliptical lives in the building across the street - maybe I should visit it. Maybe...

I get grouchy when I am hungry. Maybe that is why people keep trying to feed me. Last night one of the dogs gave me a soggy raw hide bone - so sweet. I told him he could finish it but it is the thought that counts.

I find the biggest change is that I am cold more often.

DYK: Dusty, I have the same problem. The day just seems to creep by and I'm anxiously awaiting my next meal. I didn't think I was going to make it yesterday.

DYK: Changing my eating seems to be affecting my emotions. I was pretty emo yesterday. I felt kind of angry for no real reason. Has anyone else had this problem?

DYK: Amy, I have one daughter named Gypsy. When I try to imagine her plus 4 more, UH..all I can see is a hangman's noose swinging. LoL.

DYK I was just REALLY tired yesterday lol and feeling great today thanks Melly and Karen ;)

DYK karen I do a 5 mile walk almost everyday (it's the walk away the pounds dvd's) and strength training mon thru fri for 15 mins switching between upper body mon and wed and lower tue and thur and whole body fri. I love leslie, the coach on the watp's dvds's!!

DYK I hate workout dvd's lol most of the coaches are skinny and don't even break a sweat and they make me so made when my fat butt's sweating like a hog 10 minutes into it...and them skinny coaches are saying one more set...that's why I don't do much of any of the other dvd workouts lol

DYK Melly, my 2 setp daughters don't live with us so it's not as bad as ya think with 7 kids lol...

DYK Amy I hope you feel better soon! I did bike riding, walking and exercise videos in the beginning. Then In August I switched to running and walking. Now I run every other day and do other cardio between. (3 -4 times a week). In the beginning I was not very consistent. Now I exercise 6 days a week. I have just added ST to my routine. I have done arms this week and may add legs later on.

DYK Melly, that is great you thought about working out!! Good for you!

DYK I jogged/ran yesterday. It was a tough day for me. Some days I have an easier time than others. Today it is pouring rain outside. I may just do an dance exercise video or walk on the treadmill at the clubhouse in my neighborhood. (Then I can ST too)

DYK thanks Paul! I was one of the fattest at the 5k. However, I ran right past some skinny people.

DYK complete strangers told me I was doing great. Some said great job. And people cheer for you to finsh the race. One guy even ran beside me for a few seconds and said "you are almost there keep going" (he had already finished.) I told him thanks and smiled...

It makes me wonder if some of these people were previously fat. It was as if they knew how hard I was trying and how hard it is to run when you are fat.

There was a 70 year old woman who ran the 5k in 21 minutes. It goes to show us anyone can be fit if they want it bad enough.

Karen: The only time I was not the fattest person in the room was when I was with my pal Bob. Well – he is on Medi-fast and he has lost a whopping 140 pounds. Yike – I am the fattest one always now. Not as self conscious but still….
BTW – GREAT JOB ON 5K!!! YOU ROCK!!!

FAIRMELLY: SparksPeople is a great place to start. A friendship can easily start with these two words – “You Too?” I am not shy by nature but less out there due to my self consciousness about my size. Suggestion – sign you posts with your name. You are somebody! Let it be known!

DYK FAIRYMELLY I also have had a similar problem.

Maybe you can talk to us. Maybe that will give you more confidence to talk to others. You can do it. I have been there, too shy to talk. I was always worried about being the fattest person in the room. Now I worry less as I get healthier (I think I feel so good that my confidence has gone up even though I am still usually the fattest in the room)

I finished the 5k today. 43:35 was my time. It had a lot of small hills. I had a good time and recomend anyone that wants to to try a 5k! Lots of people walked it too. Some walkers were faster than my jogging, lol

DYK I am going to eat lunch and take a long bubble bath as my reward.

DYK Dusty if my son had heard that spider story he would have ran out and slept on the couch. (He hates spiders). Thanks for the 5k support too!

DYK Amy, I agree weight loss can make you colder. I have not lost a lot but I notice I am not as hot as I used to be. (thanks for the kind words)

DYK I jogged today and I actually got hot. It was in the 60’s here and I was surprised. The weather for my 5k is looking better. It was supposed to snow right before it. Now it should be warmer.

DYK Yesterday I watched my Neice (almost 3 years) and Nephew (1 year) and they wore me out. The 1 year old wanted me to hold him all day. My arms are sore today. He is heavy!! My boys are 12 and 14 it was strange taking care of little ones all day. I am pooped still! lol

DYK I'm thankful for JEANBAPTC, Karen and Dusty! this team rocks!!

DYK that I've walked 15 miles this week so far! 5 miles a day adds up quick ;)

DYK the only critter I'm scared of is a snake....spiders, bugs, worms none of them bother me but a snake will make me scream like a girl lol....

DYK its FREAKIN COLD here in SC? it's only getting up to the lower 60's MAYBE and down to the LOW 30's at night BURRRRRRR!!!!!!

DYK this is usually my favorite time of year...but for some crazy reason I'm CLODER This year....hmmm can it be the weight loss? I'm losing my insulation...LMAO ;)

DYK that it's so windy out this morning that half my Halloween decorations blew down?

emoticon DYY that when it's this windy I'm always afraid to drive my little Bug on the freeway for fear it will blow over? That I have a Baja Bug with a rag-top so that it's mostly fiberglass and vinyl (rag-top)? So there's not much to hold it down? Well, except for me that is? LOL!

DYK that I work for a tree and landscaping business and I'm wondering how many tree emergencies we might be having today?

DYK that in-spite of all the wind it's going to be in the 80's?

emoticon DYK I saw a big spider running across a pillow in my front room last night? That I tried to get it with a broom but it was too fast for me? That I keep wondering when it will show up again? That I hate spiders? Shudder!

DYK I have not posted here in a while

DYK I watched Niece and Nephew yesterday and My arms are sore from picking them up :)

DYK today I jog outside and Saturday is my real live 5k. I am a little nervous...more nervous about jogging around so many people and going the wrong way more than finishing a 5k. (I will crawl if I have to)

DYK I will miss the challenge we just had?
