Lee, best of luck with everything, you'll be in my thoughts.

Happy Friday!!
I'm going to a Dr. Hook concert (anyone hear of them??)- I haven't, well..not really until a friend said she wanted to go, so I've been listening to their CD.

106'f...WOW...I'm quite comfy with our Nova Scotia temps, a little warmer would be nice, but I'd not want it at 106!

Tomorrow is weight in day..yikes! :) I'm hoping for goood things!

Will you be seeing the surgeon for the hernia or enlarged ovary?

Lee, what does an enlarged ovary mean? I have had cyst on my ovaries but that is all that I really know about that.

Hello, team. I'm sorry that I didn't report what my goal or achievement was -- what did I call it? Do you just post a message to explain the huddle?

Sorry. I really wanted to announce it because it means a lot to me.

I reached the 10 percent loss goal that Weight Watchers sets up. It was really neat and I am thrilled.

In all, I have lost 43 pounds now, and with a little luck I will get out of the 300s this summer.

I lose weight so slowly now that I don't even know how to tell you when. One thing I do know: I am watching my food (points), and sticking to it, but I am so sedentary that I barely lose unless I exercise at least four times a week.

But enough about me. emoticon I will try to get involved more in this thread, but I won't be able to post as many personals as Dusty does. She's great on those.

Thanks, folks, for asking about the achievement. (I got this really neat bronze key chain that is a "10" when you look at it right.)

Hi Babs, FreakWild (we've got two Kims now:) and Nola! I just wanted to say emoticon to the team again!
emoticon On the fantastic weight losses you've had!

Babs - That's nice that you can work in your home. The best of both worlds:)

Nola - Great job on the treadmill today! emoticon

You too Debbie! emoticon

Fit - I'm so happy that my boss finally (2 weeks ago) finished putting the wall in! Hard to believe I know!

Erica - I'm sorry that you felt you had to not go to the pool party, but I know how you feel. I'm glad you have a nice family though. I swear every summer that it will be the last that I am as heavy as I am. The good news is we have approximately 11 months till next summer, lol! So let this be the last summer we sit it out. I know we, and all of us can do it!

Linda - That's too much about your parents! The things some of them can come up with, lol!

Pass the wine my way Kathy:)

Starrbrite - I was wondering what goal you reached too. Post and let us know.

Cheryl - How's Bobby doing?

Lisa - Great to have you back posting. I can't imagine what you've been going through. I'm glad your back is better and that you had a good weight loss this past week!

emoticon Kim (-8 lbs.), Cheryl (-4.5)

Hi! Things are finally settling down a little bit after my mini vacation. I've been catching up on the articles I haven't had time to read and stuff.

Walking 3 miles is pretty good, and I'm still doing .5% incline! Keep up the good work NDENHAM!

I just wanted to check in this evening. I did very well eating today and I walked 3 miles in 61 minutes on my treadmill. The 2nd mile I put it at a 1% incline, I know not much, but at least something. Hope everyone had a great day. emoticon

hi all
i have a favor

if you pray, please pray for me,
the doctor called and wants to see me in the morning.
i had a cat scan done yesterday. i have been having some pain in my left lower abdomen area [someone said it sounds like diverticulitus]
but the nurse said there is an abnormality and he wants to see me first thing in morning.
so i would appreciate any and all prayers. i will get pray tonight at church too. but you can never have enough prayers.

Hi,

I sorry I don't have any words of wisdom...and to say "just go with the flow" (in moderation) would just plain be tacky.

I use to have a terrible time getting thru "that time" I'd literally stand in the kitchen looking for things. I guess I'd suggest making sure you eat small meals frequently and try to fill up on a big salad with an extra portion of croutons and use your favorite dressing but in moderation.

Hello everyone,

Just popping in to say Hello and I hope everyone is having a good day.
I and NOT having a good day ,lol. My "monthly visitor" has arrived and today I feel like I can eat anything that isn't nailed down. I'm popping Motrin and trying to drink alot of water.
I know some women are still able to exercise during this time but I cannot. I am pretty miserable and can't wait for it to be over.

I hope so. I work on Saturdays so it's not like I'm home with nothing to do. I do ok until after lunch and the last 2-3 week-ends it like I eat everything in site (or out of site) that I can get my hands on from lunch on Saturday through all of Sunday. It is weird. I use to have a hard time on Thursday and Sunday's (my days off) but Thursday have been OK. I do have a new incentive tho my brother called me yesterday and the company that he and both of his sons work for has a family day at Holiday World once a year and he called wanting to know if we wanted to go with them and their families. My husband and I both love HW. So I have 2 months to get more weight off because we will spend most of the day in the water park! No swim suit, but shorts are nice.

If anything throws me off it's the weekends. I think it's because I have a definate routine during the week...and on the weekend it's just basically a "whatever goes" thing for me. I'm still trying to establish a weekend routine (with flexibility) so that I'm less tempted to "flounder" (hum - I should fix some fish for supper...ok back on track)...don't know why it seems more difficult...but I'm sure it will fall into place.

Linda,
You will get to the 100 mark. I am trying to up my cardio. I had not thought about having SparkPeople recalculate my daily calories. That is a good suggestion. I have been getting in 7-8 16.9oz of water in per day. I am trying to get it up to 10 bottles per day. It seems like I do good for 4-5 days and then not so good on Sat. and Sunday's. I don't know what the deal is with those two days.

I felt like I had been stuck between 30-35 pounds off for almost 4 weeks with my weight going up and down but not really moving. To get over the hurdle, I did the following:
1. Ramped up my cardio
2. Had SparkPeople recalculate my daily calories
3. Increased my daily water from 8 to at least 10.

That did it for me...we'll see what the next plateau dictates.

Good Luck jumping the 100 mark...I wish I was jumping it with you...give me time.

Thank you Linda. I have worked hard and I still have a ways to go, but I will get there. I'm a Sparkaholic also, I love this site. I just got off the treadmill, I did get 3 miles in tonight. I try to go to Curves after work as well, but I had a chiropractor appointment tonight so I didn't make it tonight. In March I did reach the 100 mile mark, but then some things happened and I gained 15 pounds. I have lost 9 of those 15 and can't seem to get out of the 270's. I have been working on these same 15 pounds now for 2 months! Just when I get within a pound or two, I get lax and gain 3-4 back. I am trying not to weigh until I think I am over the 100 mark. For some reason I think that is a stumbling block for me. Any suggestions? emoticon

Hi all newbies,

I've reached the point where I feel like once a day I need to stand up and say, "Hi I'm Linda and I'm a Sparkaholic"...and I'm proud of it.

It's really good to see you all here...and NDENHAM WAY TO GO you almost have 100 pounds off, that's almost a social worker (the soc wrkr that is in the office beside me weighs about 112 pounds). I can't wait to lose "a social worker" or 2.

Ok - moving on because I still have to go out and mow the front yard.

Hello everyone. I just saw this board. Just to let you know a little about me, I started working on my weight and getting healthier Jan 2007. I started at 368. I did Weight Watchers point system for the first year and I have now switched to Sparkpeople. I love this site, you can keep track of more than just points or calories and keep everything in one site, exercise, message boards etc.. Anyway, today I weight 274. I can't seem to get out of the 270's. If I can help anyone please let me know. This is a journey we will all be on all of our lives and all the support we can get is what it will take for us to do this. I know we can.

Hello everyone ~

Thank you to Dusty,LALATY152 and KITRAE1 for the comments you left on my page. and Dusty, TY for the Goodie!

I have to tell you, I am a bit overwhelmed by this site. I am not new to computers or message boards, been at it for years but there is just so much on here! I will be fine, just need to take some free time and find my way around.
BTW, litle about me: I am a manicurist and I own my own business. When I got married in 2003, my husband and I bought a house that could have my salon in it as well... so....I am able to post throughout the day if I have a break.

That is about all I have time for. I will be back later to check in. Have a great day . . .

Lisa,

Hope that clears up for you soon...there is very little (that I know of) as bad as serious back pain.

Hi Everyone!

I haven't forgotten about the group, it's just that this is the first time since last Thursday, that I've able to sit long enough to do anything. I'm off with a back injury, and last Sunday, it moved down, and pinched the Sciatic nerve. It finally let go last night, after a weekend of intense pain. The scale showed wonderul results this morning, as a combination of being mindful of what I was eating, and not having a lot of appetite. I will read up on what's been going later. I have to grab an ice pack and keep cool..lol

Hope all is well.

Lisa

I agree - there is nothing worse than always being the biggest person when you go somewhere.

I remember this one time when I was about 30y/o - my parents had watched some 60 minutes type show where they said that former drug abusers frequently gain a lot of weight. They tried to do an "intervention" on me. They demanded to know what drugs I had been abusing and when I had started. I laughed at them (which ticked them off) and said if that were the case then I was demanding to know what drugs they had forced on me as a child since I'd been heavy for as long as I can remember, so if that was what caused it they were the ones at fault not me. That pretty much shut them up on that subject. Good grief the things people come up with.

OK back to work,
Linda T

LOL - I'll go with you....I will be one of the happiest depressed people he ever met. (the only time I see my glass as half empty is when it has red wine in it!) Maybe he should check her thyroid level first....or even ask her to do a food log and review it. *sheesh!*

Erica - the walking is great!! Good for you!! I did yoga this morning (which I have fallen in love with! *even at my size*) and I have aerobics after work. They didn't have it all last week so I am sure I'll have my behind dragging tonight!

my 30 year old neice used to be bipolar till the lord healed her 4 years ago [this is true]
and her doc wanted to send her to see a phychatrist[spelling]
because she has gained 14 lbs in 3 months said she must be depressed.

Hey Kathy,

Yes, I'm measuring too. I've lost a 1/2 from my thigh, but that's been a couple weeks back too...when I lost the pound.
I'm doing good today...behaving on my eating and I've already walked 2 miles today...will walk 2 more later.
Anyways, off to eat lunch. See you all later.

Good Morning all!

Erica - I know what you mean about being 145 fat - talk about image distortion! I'm sorry that you didn't go to the party....I hope that next year (or maybe later this summer) you will feel up to going.

Are you measuring yourself along with weighing in? If you are working out/exercising you change fat to muscle and muscle weighs more.....so if you start measuring yourself (if you don't already) you may be pleasantly surprised with yourself.

Sending everyone happy and healthy thoughts!

Kathy

Hi everyone...
Sorry I've only come to visit the team once so far. I'm such a slacker :D
I've been bummed lately....it's so hard to stay strong when you aren't losing. I lost a pound 2 weeks ago, so I worked extra hard this past week and actually GAINED 2 pounds! It's so frustrating!
Adding to the aggravation is the fact that my mom's side of the family...the side I see the most of...are all skinny...except me and my mom. I am officially the heaviest...which just makes me want to eat some cheese fries frankly!
There was a pool party this weekend at the condo my aunt always rents at the beach in the summer. I actually created a reason to not go...I've gained 12 pounds since last summer's party and I couldn't stand the thought of going out there like that. Mind you, at this size...nobody's noticing the 12 pounds but me. Plus, my family is so nice about it...nobody says anything about my weight. But, it's hard to want to take this body into a pool next to my 18 year old, size 2 cousin and her equally thin and might I add...absolutely gorgeous...fiance. Think JFK,Jr...yummy.
I've got to get this weight gone. I want to be the one on the beach who's getting looked at ....not because I'm the whale but because I'm fit and attractive. I need to do it for me and I want to do it for my children..I want them to have a mom that is healthy and that they know will be around for years to come.
It's funny how when you're thin, like I was in high school... you always think you're fat....HA! I'd give just about anything to be 145 pounds "fat" again!
Anyways, I ramble....I'll try to remember to check back in tomorrow and take time to read the posts so I can get to know everyone here a little better.

Hi Kris - Welcome back! I'm glad you had a great vacation! emoticon

Hey Jenn - So true! Between groceries, gas and now with the summer here, A/C, it's just the basic stuff for most all of us.
Does shopping once a week help you with planning your meals for the week?
One of our new members Buffalo said on his SparkPage that he's worked for Republic Steel for years. Not sure if it's related to your guy or not. (Kind of like all us Italians knowing each other, lol!)

Lee - One word....Yummy! LOL! Let us know what you think of the new Weight Watchers.
Yes I'm a vegetarian, I think for about 11 years. It's not hard for me. No, I don't eat fish. I don't eat eggs (I did at first) by themselves either except if they are in bread. (Don't make me give up bread, lol!) Fish is good because of the Omega 3s, but you can also get that from Flax seed oil or seeds.

Hi everyone!

Well, I went grocery shopping yesterday, as I do every Saturday, and I gotta tell ya', despite the fact we shop at WinCo (ultra-cheap with a big bulk section) and that there's no sales tax here, prices are really hurting me!

Now, my guy is a journeyman steel worker and makes pretty decent money. I can't imagine how the truly poor are surviving. Even we are delving into frozen and boxed convenience foods, just to stretch dollars.
Okay, done with my gripe.

emoticon Betty on your walking and exercise goals! I know you'll make it! Great job!

Vicky and Lee - Thanks for sharing your stories with us!

Maureen - You've really had a rough couple of days! Your computer, wrenching your knee and your son being sick. It really is enough to throw any of us off track! Just remember that this will pass and to stay focused on your goals!
So having said all that, here is a kick in the pants from me!

VickyWicky1,

How cow girlfriend...I thought I had been through the wringer...my medical woes seems very small in comparison to yours. Glad you are still here and with this team. Hang in there.

Well so far i havent gotten any injuries from exercising, or turning my anke or any thing. i try to be real careful un till the 4th of july week end especially. ive been in the womans challenge since may 11th. i set my goal as 10,000 steps a day . which exercise can be converted into steps. i make it by doing 45 minutes of circuit traing ,5 days a week.sometimes i have extra steps to add but some times not much more.i am 4 points away from my goal of 16. i am traveling cross country starting at san fransisco and will finish in washington dc. when i started this i didnt think i would finish as im not good about sticking to every day routine. but something about this challenge makes me want to keep on and after its over i will keep up the exercising. i am losing weight in the proccess and it has gotten me inthe habit of exercising. it seems like i may have already told this team about this . if i have ...sorry.. just chalk it up to old age.

betty
