Happy Friday!

I have been struggling with staying on track, I have lots of excuses --- some really, really good ones LOL but the bottom line is that I have lost my focus. Is anyone else feeling the same way? I think we need a new challenge any suggestions?

July 4th falls on a Monday - 8 week challenge that starts on May 9?

I dont know how challenging dieting or calorie reduction may be for you, but the answer may be as simple as eating more pulses(beans, peas, lentils chickpeas etc)

As of yesterday.
I have began daily seated chair exercises.
The first is heel to toe rocking with my feet.
The next is leg raises and straightening.
The last is holding a fit band with arms straight out to front and then opening both arms out to the side.
there are 20 repetitions of each at this stage

@ wildflower, I so hear you about the heat! Right now I live down in central Florida and well it's already has hit 90, gone back down but this weekend and all next week it's going to be in the 90s! I am NOT ready for this heat! My plan to combat it is to make lots of cold soups, salads, grain salads and homemade freezer treats like popsicles and ice creams/sorbets. I actually have some blackberry honey yogurt popcicles in the freezer right now.

Not looking forward to summer... each day brings it closer. Why? Because It is just too hot. I would rather layer clothes on to cover up, not wear shorts to stay cool. Thankfully I live where true summer only lasts for about 3 months. It isnt so bad when you are not overweight, but being as big as I am puts a damper on summer fun with the family. I am going to find ways to not worry about it like I normally do this year.

Hi y'all!

I've been mia for a little bit - about 4 months! whew! It's been hectic in my life these days.. I know I know, What's new? right? :) My life is always a hot mess! Either way, all is well ;) Some new faces around! Love to see that!!! :) Some old faces, love those too :)

All is well for me, My husband and I tried to save our marriage and I put 100% effort in to that. I really can say I gave it all I could before having to pull the plug - I put on 20lbs... and have actually lost most of it, I'm at 201 - for those of you that are new, I started my journey back in 08/2013. My starting weight was 365lbs!! I got down to 196 in 11/2015 and blew back up to 225... now I am back to 201 and going strong! I got a garmin vivosmart HR - Love Love it! Anyone else have one??? :) It's connected with mfp, so I've been cheating on you guys over there (shhh) :)

Anyway - Just wanted to check in and say hello! I hope you are all well :)

Just checking in to say hello - I've been gone awhile! We've been super busy, and I've really let things slide. I've put about 20 pounds back on since Thanksgiving, and that makes me so mad at myself! But, I started tracking again yesterday, and I had an injection in my knee on Friday and it is feeling much better already, so I think I'm going to ease into some walking and exercising again, too.

Sounds like everyone has been really busy - hope you're all doing well!

WYCKEDSTEPMOM - Welcome back!

1MOM93 - I think it varies. One tip I have is not to do too much too soon - that always made me dread it. Ditto for upping intensity. I'm trying to get back there myself. Right now I'm in not looking forward to it but it is almost a habit. Though I'm still having my dreading it days.

This week I've felt lethargic all week. Also I did too much too soon (*gasp*!) upping my intensity which I think just tired me out so much so I've been a bit blah on getting my exercise in the latter part of the week. Water has only been so-so too. Can't win every week.

Hi CAITIATM - I can relate to this - I work at a computer all day and sometimes I hop on here during my lunch or break to track food or exercise but that takes up the whole time. When I get home (on evening shift) the last thing I want to do is get back on the computer.

Well ... the question of the day for Dusty is ... How many times can one vanish and still come back to the team? Hopefully many, because I'm back again emoticon

I went to the doctor today, got all my scripts filled (silly man wanted to know the last time I took them) ... had my blood done ... got all the things done that I needed to for the new job (leaving mine after five years and it's making my heart hurt) ... and decided that I needed to reconnect with SparkPeople.

*sigh* I had a feeling a gain was coming so it wasn't a crushing blow to my motivation. Last week was not my healthiest effort. I ate too much and moved way too little and drank little water. So not a huge surprise that I gained. Though I wasn't expecting it to be quite so large a gain. I didn't eat that badly. Back on track now. I upped my speed a tiny bit and my legs are tired so I might have to limit that to every other day so I don't burn myself out.

Zenyaw - exactly! Just because someone didn't do it "right" I'm working on appreciating that they did something for me and it got done even if it wasn't the way I would've done it.

Cat - I hope you aren't always that busy and I hope you're doing well.

Zen - I guess it will work out well as long as the two of you mesh well. I hope it works out well for both of you.

Hello folks! It's a great Monday here...with blue sky and sunshine! I hope everyone has a SPARK day! This weekend, I decided to get a roommate. Now, I haven't lived with anyone else in over 30 years, so I consider this a major event for me. emoticon emoticon It's a male college student whose lease is up where he lives and is wanting a change for hiimself. He has some issues of his own to deal with and his presence in my apartment will provide me a long break from being alone and all that goes with it. And no, this isn't a FWB-type relationship. emoticon

Anyway...so this is going to be a big change for me. However, I believe we can help one another. He needs to remove himself from his current environment and situation, and I can use the companionship of his company. We both have a variety of things in common, and the big generational age gap is not as big a deal as one might think. (he's 26; I'm 52). We have both decided that by moving in together, he will be able to distance himself from some of his bad issues from where he now lives, and I will be able to help him a bit with his depression issues. He also is young, which will allow me to soak up some of his youth and vibrancy. His knowledge of computers and elecfronics will also be a big plus as he helps me learn about these things more.

He won't actually be living here until April 1 (yeah, I know...April Fool!). He will begin moving his stuff across town from his apartment to mine this week.. My job now is to clear out the 2nd bedroom (with a second full bathroom) that I have been using as a storage area for my collection of junk from years gone by. emoticon

So...I'll keep you guys up-to-date as to how this new life-changing event shapes up.

Kitty good for you. I am glad you were able to have that internal conversation with yourself. Sometimes I have the same issue. My husband will do something trying to help me out and its not the way I would have done it. I have to remind myself to be appreciative of his kindness.

I had to put myself in my place today. Busy and someone helped me out by doing something I needed to do for me without asking but they didn't do it the way I would have and the way they did actually made a bit more work for me and I was having an internal rant about it when in the back of my mind a quiet voice said "Or you could stop being an ungrateful bitch and thank them for helping you out." So I shamed myself but felt much calmer and better. And I went and thanked them and felt bad again about my first reaction but lesson reinforced that the only proper response when someone goes out of their way to help you is thank you.

KITTY_M: yes, I was amazed watching it come down and pile up. emoticon As it pelted my apartment windows and my truck windows outside, I worried the glass would break. After the storm, I went outside to the truck to check for hail damage. Nothing, thankfully! emoticon And thank you...everyone survived this storm, and nobody was injured in the tornado here. emoticon

This Arkansas weather is unusually warm for this time of year. Though it worries me (from a climate change point-of-view), I'll not complain about the warm, sunny March weather here.

I don't' know if it's the time change or what but man have I been dragging this week. So sleepy.... Haven't gotten much exercise this week so far either.

Welcome back, Paul! It always feels like no matter how long the vacation you need another one right away.

Zen - I noticed the picture first before reading I thought it HAD snowed but then had a Huh? moment when you said it was 85. I've never seen hail that large. I hope everyone got through it ok.

Good morning folks! emoticon Here in Arkansas it's going to be an unusually warm day...nothing but sunshine and 85-degrees. emoticon Two days ago Arkansas had an outbreak of tornadoes and strong thunderstorms...with one tornado confirmed on the ground just East of my city. Nobody was injured and the storm lifted up over the town of Vilonia, sparing the people there from direct hit. Here in Conway, high winds, lightning strikes, and...a hail storm of large hail which covered the ground like snow. Here are some pictures of the hail:







Until yesterday, I had never seen such large stones...it lookd liked as if it had snowed. Wow.... And today? Blue sky and sunshine! What a difference a day makes.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I was shocked to have a loss this week. After I had the week I had I was really bracing myself for bad news when I got on the scale but was pleasantly surprised. Unless of course it shows up next week - I know sometimes that happens.

Last weeks eat everything in site fest notwithstanding I've been doing quite well. I'm nervous though. I know one bad weigh in can wipe out quite a bit of progress.

No that character is just a little character I made like that.

I hope you'll get rid of this time of the month soon. I feel you. I'm always starving too when it hit me and I can't seem to keep within my portions range either when that happens. Hi guys,

It's been a little while. I've been busy at home redoing our kitchen floors and it took us a little bit more time then anticipated. But now it's done and we are super happy with the result.
I've been missing the group and reading your post and all and I hope that everyone is doing good. It's been a while since I saw anything from Dusty too I hope she is doing OK.

I've finally hit the 100 lbs. loss this week and I now have lost a total of 102 lbs. After 3 years and never giving up I'm super happy about that.
Also saw my new GP this week. So far he seems nice. Never mentioned anything about my weight and he likes to make jokes. If he's competent also I think I'll be in good hands.

Other than that I've been away a lot from internet because I started creating and sculpting again and I spent all my spare time really into it :-)
I made a little fawn girl art doll that is hand sculpted and painted and about 2 inches tall. She is not quite finish as she is missing her top but I still don't know exactly what I'll do with that.
