So, my diet this past week has consisted of chicken soups and orange juice and vitamins... and NO exercise. This cold needs to go away NOW! It is impossible to go the gym when you can't breathe sitting still. Ok, enough complaining. Hoping everyone's New Year is starting out full of healthy foods and a renewed commitment to being healthy including exercise.

I am afraid to step on the scale on Monday morning, knowing that the orange juice I have been drinking is making my number of calories for the day way too high and I'm burning none.

I felt it was "laughing at" rather than "laughing with" if you know what I mean. I started to cry while watching it.

I'm struggling with being extremely harsh with myself. I'm at the point of having to see my therapist and psychiatrist because my eating disorder has switched from binge eating to the opposite end of the spectrum. I beat myself up for every bite of food that goes into my mouth, healthy or not. If I feel the slightest bit full, I think I am disgusting, etc. I figure out which fruit I'm going to eat by how many calories it has. It's crazy making.

When I have food in front of me it takes me five minutes just to talk myself into starting to eat and then have to keep myself distracted to finish it. If I have to think too much about it, I'll get nauseous and upset with self-hatred.

I've lost over 50 pounds in three weeks and that isn't "fast enough." I have no idea what "fast enough" would be. I gained a few pounds over the last few days, most likely due to hormones, but it doesn't matter. In my head, I've eaten like a pig (over 1000 calories), and, therefore, must eat even less. So at my next weigh in I will have to have lost 10 pounds. If I haven't lost 10 pounds by then, I will have to go on a fast. My mind is going crazy on me.

Has anyone had their emotions go nuts during menopause? Or maybe had their eating disorder change from one extreme to another?

Happy New Year!

We rang in 2016 doing inventory at the shop. It was almost 1 before we were done. Then Ben stayed to enter everything and Spencer and I went home to sleep. Now I'm back here at the shop while Ben is home sleeping. The life of small business owners is not glamorous!

I updated my weight and measurements this morning. I've gotten back into the habit of tracking my food - I always do so much better when I do.

Wow, I'm ready for the three-day weekend! (even though we have to do inventory at the shop tomorrow night!) I've been working 10 hour days, and my mom had a doctor appointment on Monday, Ben had a colonoscopy on Tuesday, and Spencer had a doctor appointment today (followed by an EKG and lab work)!

My basement is (mostly) dried out - I hope it stays that way... we've got lots of flooding in our area. The river is over the banks and officially just about 10 blocks from my house at the moment! There's been a couple of levee breeches, and one of the bridges out of town is closed due to a log jam and high water.

This is a picture of the log jam on the bridge near here - less than a mile away...

Heather - Yikes about the rain and flooded basement. Hope there wasn't a whole lot of damage for you.

Iamtheprincess - That's no good, what a time to come down with a cold. I like to make chicken soup loaded with garlic and ginger when I get sick

Last new year's I resolved to do meatless Mondays and fish Fridays all of 2015 as a way to help me lose weight which I've kept up to this point. I had lost weight up to Halloween and well all hell broke loose with the scale, my waistline and my mouth. I'm not sure what my 2016 resolutions will be but I do plan on keeping up having a meatless day and fish once a week. I do want to start blogging hopefully daily as a way of documenting what I'm eating. More of when i make meatless and seafood recipes as well as other healthy recipes. Just not sure about doing so on here or going onto a blogging site. If I should use tumblr or keep up with my pinterest. I've started using pinterest for about a yr now as a way to organize and ease to retrieve recipes I've found online. I don't know yet what my resolutions will be but I'll prolly blog about it on here in the next few days.

Question, does anyone here use a blogging site and/or can you recommend one?

So, now that I finally got back on track exercising, I am catching a cold and it is settling in my chest so it is hard to breathe.

I am going to try to get lots of rest and kick this cold's butt so I can kick some serious weight loss butt.

I'm working on setting some goals for the year and should be posting them on my blog soon. I need to sit down and really think about what numbers are important this year. Besides scale victories, I want to set goals for going down clothing sizes and more importantly fitness goals like signing up for my first 5k..and when that is done, hoping to do more of them.

What kinds of goals is everyone else setting for the year!

Hello! It's awfully quiet in here!

We've had a TON of rain and wind the last couple of days! emoticon emoticon Our basement flooded tonight, and Ben is currently in the basement hooking up a secondary pump. At least it hasn't reached the furnace or water heater like it did this summer!

Hope you all had a great Christmas! We did - had my oldest DS and his fiance home, and we had lots of family around. We ate and played games and had a great time. But, I'm ready to get back on track!

Hi, everyone. I'm trying to get some Christmas decorations up. I know, I know. Better late than ever. I'm hosting my work colleagues for Christmas, so I'm trying to make the place look more festive. I am struggling to find the energy, though. I remember when I was all energy, all the time, but it's hard even getting out of bed now. That's one reason I'm really trying to lose weight.

Turned out to be a skin infection brought on by the psoriasis on my ankle. Antibiotics it is... and new meds for psoriasis... hoping the swelling goes down soon so the pain isn't so unbearable. I haven't slept very well because of the pain. Glad I went to the doctor too. I found out my mom's brother had the same thing last spring except he was stubborn and didn't go to the doctor until he was at the point that they admitted him to the hospital for a week. That would drive me bonkers!!! Doctor said I can keep exercising. I'm planning to workout again tomorrow, even if it ends up just being walking and lifting weights, I know I will feel better for doing something.

Princess - Do you have varicose veins? My mother did and she had to be really careful about hurting her legs even slightly. (Which unfortunately she did often.)

I am so frustrated this week. Thursday night, as I was getting ready for bed, I lightly bumped my leg and nearly cried because it hurt so bad. It is swelling, red and warm to the touch. I think I will be making a trip to the doctor very soon. It doesn't hurt to walk on it, but cannot stand to even touch it. I have been trying to keep it elevated to reduce swelling and that has helped some. Unfortunately, I don't dare workout until the doctor checks it out. Hoping it is nothing and I can get back on track.

sleep has been a big issue for me... The holidays are so busy anyway, it's hard to set aside enough time for sleep... and I'm a night owl so it's always hard to turn in. Working on it! Slept in today & feel rested... it does make such a diff!

Happy Friday Everyone! Hope you all had a better week than me. I started out with some great fitness minutes but ended pretty flat mostly because I didn't get enough sleep at night. My son had 3 basketball games this week and I only got three to 4 hours of sleep on those nights and on Wednesday when I had my late bible study. I came home from work today and crawled into bed and only got my 15 minute walk in today. Next week, all games are out of town and I think I am going to the gym to workout instead of going to his games. I really want to get down a few more pounds before Christmas!

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars

Servings: bars
Serving Size: 30
Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 25 Minutes

Ingredients --
CriscoŽ Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 (14 oz.) can Eagle BrandŽ Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 cup (6 oz.) butterscotch-flavored chips
1 cup (6 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions --
HEAT oven 350°F. Spray 13 x 9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.
COMBINE graham cracker crumbs and butter; mix well. Press crumb mixture firmly into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with remaining ingredients; press down firmly with fork.

BAKE 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Loosen from sides of pan while still warm; cool on wire rack. Cut into bars or diamonds.
For perfectly cut cookie bars, line entire pan with foil, extending foil over edge of pan. Coat lightly with no-stick cooking spray. After bars have baked and cooled, lift up by edges of foil to remove from pan. Cut into individual bars.

Not feeling it... I have had a hard time the last couple of days getting to the gym. I just plain don't want to go. Yesterday, I didn't. Today, I made myself. I wasn't ready to quit when my hour was up today. Basically, getting there is 90% of the battle. The other 10 has to be that my legs have been sore the last several days from the elliptical. Today, I only did 20 minutes on it and then lifted weights and finally finished by walking. I think I could have walked 2 hours without it feeling like I was exercising... I even ran a few laps around the gym... definitely got my heart rate up.

Shopping on Friday was difficult for me because there were so many yummy looking Christmas cookies and candies everywhere. I didn't buy any and even was smart when going out to eat.

Unfortunately, the scale hasn't moved the way I would have liked this week,. On the bright side, it hasn't gone up either.

This to me is the most tempting time of year. Not only can it be an emotional time but like you said we're surround by unbelievable goodies:)

I saw on TV today a 3 layer cake/pie, called, "piecaken" It was layered cake, pie, cake all baked together. Some even added an extra pie!

Can't seem to get it out of my mind, LOL!

It's like a dessert turducken, LOL!

emoticon I'm trying to get back to eating regular meals/snacks and real food. It is hard to reign it in right now...

I noticed that when I see new2me, yummy looking goodies, I actually start drooling! I am trying to stay out of the stores...

Worked out this morning, filled my plate with fresh veggies and had a little of everything I liked and stayed in my calorie range even with a slice of cheesecake for dessert!
