During the time I was in grad school (8 years ago) I gained well over 100 lbs from all the driving, long classes, study time, etc. It was my intent to change careers, but in my last semester we were blessed with a sibling group we were able to adopt. My baby starts kindergarten next August so we decided to have me pursue my new career. I have been working in my old career and honestly I can't do this anymore. Its not that I can't do it, its that I don't want to do it. I'm over it.

I applied for a few jobs and was offered a job starting in a few months, but in my new field! :) We will be moving for the new job, so now the thinning begins! My kids are thrilled, I'm excited, a little scared and go happy that I am actively losing weight. The new job has a lot more people contact and I don't feel particularly good about myself at this weight. It's getting better and by the time I start the new job I will be even thinner.

Wanted to share the happy news. :)

emoticon I'm sorry about the scale being your nemesis. I find that there isn't always rhyme or reason to when I gain or lose. It is definitely not "calories in - calories out".

I had been invited to the American Marine Corp ball tonight, but in light of last night's events, they decided not to hold it. emoticon

Busy week. I stayed on track with my nutrition plan all week and within my calorie budget. I quit eating when full. I exercised a little every day and a lot on a few days, yet the scale has not been my friend. The number has creeped up a little every day. It's frustrating and I'm trying to be positive since I know I did everything I could to lose. Hope everyone else is having better luck with the scale.

PS, hoping I'll get a big drop in a couple of days so I can stop feeling sorry for myself. I was less than a pound away from my first 20 pound loss and now, I need to lose almost 5. ((SIGH)))

Amen sister! emoticon I can't listen to that station as long as it continues playing the same few songs over and over again. This "gift" to the listeners will turn them into Grinches and "bah humbugs".

In fact, here is the station's website so that you may hear their limited selection of Christmas music: www.iheart.com/live/christmas-949-10

I love this season, and I'm sad about the way some people have completely lost sight of what it's all about. I'm surprised that they're playing it so early, though. I love Christmas music, too, but I want the season to begin after Thanksgiving.

A local oldies, classic and modern rock station here -- Tom 94.9 fm -- began playing 24-hour Christmas music two days before Halloween and will continue through Christmas, as "an early gift for our listeners". I say BAH HUMBUG....

I love the Christmas season...the music, the decorations, the time of year, the story behind the holiday, the glitz, glamour, and gluttonous overindulgence. And I would not mind listening to Christmas music all the time beginning, say, after Thanksgiving. Most radio stations will only play a few Christmas songs periodically mixed in with their regular playlists.

This radio station, however, has quickly become annoying in the extreme. Not only did it begin BEFORE Halloween, but instead of playing a variety of ALL Christmas music, it only plays about eight secular songs with different covers...over and over and over again. What is missing are all the Christmas songs...the carols, songs like White Christmas, Jingle Bells etc., and groups such as Transiberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, the country Christmas songs, etc. Why the rest of the holiday music is not being played is a mystery to me. All I can think of as a primary reason is that the station is attempting to stay clear of any religious-themed songs, lest they offend some people. I enjoy all the holiday music...the secular and the religious. If this radio station is going to merely play a certain select few secular songs all the time, the listeners are being deprived of the full Christmas/holiday experience.

And although I'm not really religious anymore, I still enjoy listening to the Christmas carols and hymns and the variety they bring to the holidays. And this makes me a bit sad...but not enough to let it ruin the holiday season. It's just highly annoying how politically correct our society has become where we are so concerned about possibly offending the sensibilities of certain groups of people. And don't think I haven't let this radio station know of my dismay and disappointment. I've promised to not listen to this station until their regular format returns...unless they begin including the rest of the Christmas/holiday music...the good, the bad, and the ugly. LOL

Okay, that was my rant of the day. I'm stepping down off my soapbox now.... emoticon

Hi Donna, thanks! I'm moved in but not unpacked. Since it's a new place this past week the contractors have been coming to do one thing or another (or fix something they over looked) and kind of make a mess if you know what I mean:)

How are you doing?

Good Evening everyone!

Another wonderful weekend winding down. The girls are loud in the kitchen, Christmas cookie dough all mixed and in freezer to be baked in couple of weeks, dinner with wife today, and afternoon spent being the light of Christ by serving people with Refuge Church.

I hang out at the Lose 2 Win Team. Stop by and say hi or join one of our challenges

I was looking at the goals I set for myself on here. I am 17 lbs away from my first major goal (lose 65 lbs). I talked to my dr this week and she is running more tests to see why I am so tired. I have thyroid disease so it's not uncommon for me to be tired, but my bloodwork is wonky so she is suspecting a few things.

Last night I got my very large tush on the treadmill for 10 minutes and this morning again for 15 minutes. I feel amazingly happy today, I need the endorphines that exercise releases. Overall I am feeling great about life, the routine I've created and the food I am exploring.

Question for you ladies. I have now lost 48 lbs and some clothes just don't fit anymore. What do you do with your clothes when you no longer fit them? I have looked into a women's shelter and think I may do that, but was curious what other people do.

emoticon everyone,

It has been a very long time since I have been here.

I have got a recumbent bike, and am starting today to get some exercising in on it. Going to have to start very slow. emoticon But slow is better then none, right?

Not really anything interesting with me going on. It will be 1 year & 8 months tomorrow since my sweet Alan passed away. In the early months of grieving, I somehow managed to loose 30 in less then 3 months. emoticon But I've gained that back (and probably more) since then. I have struggled with self worth all of my life. X-husband did not help that, neither did my verbally & physically abusive mother. My sweet Alan tried for 27 years to patch some of the stuff that other have torn apart---but I feel that losing him has brought back a lot of my insecurities and thinking little of myself. It's not good, I know. emoticon emoticon

Anyway.....I just wanted to stop in and say "hello" to everyone. I am going to try to get in her at least once a week now. Maybe it will make me feel better, I hope. emoticon

You all have a great Tuesday.

Tracy, Good luck with your new exercise plan. I'm sure you know this, but there is a difference between "stiff" pain and true "don't do this" pain. If you start feeling the latter, I'm sure you will adjust the plan as needed so that you can still continue. I hope it does well for you!

Ok, so once again I am out on medical leave. Over the past 15 years I have had 8 major surgeries. I am seriously considering disability.

Last year this time I was out for knee replacement. This time it is a pinched nerve. The pain is awful. I can't sit, stand nor walk without extreme pain. I end up in tears going from my bed to the bathroom and back.

The only bright side to this is I have lost 14 pounds in the short time I have been out.
Mainly because I am eating two meals a day with more fruits and vegetables. Drinking more water and using less sugar. I may have one snack, usually a plum

I am not in the hospital, I am at home. If only I could do as well when I am well.

It's amazing how much having a walking buddy helps! We typically walk 3+ miles Mon-Fri! My mom bought herself and I Fitbits and we should be getting them next week. I'm on day 10 of my toning challenge and it's gotten easier! I don't want to die after doing the roll ups :)

HI to all my teammates I have not seen in quite a while !!!! Dusty, Pooh, Paul and a number of you others.....

I have missed you all - I moved to Las Vegas in April after ending a 20 + year relationship - I have lost 35 lbs since April 15th, I have a new boyfriend (who I have actually known for almost 30 years) We just rented a house together a few weeks ago and I am the happiest I think I have ever been. It has changed my life in so many ways I can not explain. I dont spend my days wanting or even craving food anymore. Being happy is the best motivation that I have ever had. I do need to exercise so that my belly will shrink more, but I am still losing : ] I am more active I want to do more things (I still dont want to exercise), but I feel so much better - Once I lose the other 50 lbs or so I should be good.

I miss you guys - I will try to stay in touch,

Rayne

Pooh, How the heck are you???
Dusty - I have missed you...

So I just realized that spark goodies have notes attached to them... Thanks to Stephybear and Ashbug and Dusty for sending me goodies and encouraging notes. Hoping I didn't miss anyone.

Thanks for being a supportive Team!!!

PS, I'm finding it difficult to find time to track food and take time to post on the message boards... Hope I can keep it up as this is an awesome group.

I am so sore and tired! Can't stop just because it's the weekend. Down 1 lb from last week.

I totally just completed a personal goal! I wanted to be able to walk a 5k. Well, today I walked 3.5 miles in 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Good morning team checking in, I have been low key for a while.
Just wanted to say hello and have a glorious weekend.
