It's okay Tracy to leave a team, when it is not working for you. It is also better to make small goals to lose weight than big ones. Some teams push big goals in their challenges and do not think of the consequences this has on some one that is new or struggling to lose the weight slowly. Or in cases like ours dealing with bouts of depression when we do not see the scale moving or perhaps we went off the reservation and ate something we shouldn't have.

The important thing here is to remember to forgive yourself and start with your very next meal or snack and get back on track. It isn't the end of eating healthy. This is how we learn to adjust from our mistakes.

This is one reason why it is so important to keep a journal on about why we are doing what, when, why and how we feel when eating. This too will help with our bouts of depression.

I myself find meditating in the words of God, while sounds of nature play in the back ground softly help as well. I try to find time to do this at least 3 times weekly. I call this me time.

We have suggest exercise and music here on our team. As well as health tips. We do not place any pressure on you. But if you need help or prayer, Please just ask one of the leaders or post on the team wall.

We love you and want to be here for you and all of our members. God Bless!

I too suffer from long bouts of depression, have most of my adult life. I have taken medications over the years, but not in a long time. I honestly don't know if they did any good. I'm coming out of a bad spell. But I am coming out of it..which is the good thing. In three days it will be my 1yr anniversary for SparkPeople. Today was my 257 (If I remember right) consecutive date logging in daily and using SP. I am very thankful for having found this site and all the wonderful supportive and friendly people. It has really changed my life and now my husband's too. In August I joined a Biggest Loser group on SP and thought that would be cool to do the challenges and stuff. But honestly...it was not for me. They are great people...but it took me off my path. I was so depressed and stressed. I was miserable and it was affecting my home life too. Hubby kept asking what was wrong and I could only reply I don't know. Sadly, it took a big argument (we don't argue..so this was not good) to make me open up and realize what was going on. I have always been a quiet person that bottles and compartmentalizes everything. So I need to work on bringing down those walls, I don't need them with my DH. It was a painful and hurtful evening...but it came down to me finally realizing and saying how depressed I was and what was bothering me. I do have a stressful job as a legal assistant in a busy office, and yes co-workers can get on my nerves...but I do like my work. So I couldn't keep blaming everything on work stress.
I have spent the past week connecting with my faith and looking inward. I withdrew from the BL challenge. My journey isn't about meeting all kinds of challenges, it is about my health and lifestyle. Once I realized that and withdrew, I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. We had a great weekend visiting friends and family. I have been stress free, drama free and happy. I know I will face more challenges and things that bring me down....but you have to keep getting back up.
Thank you for letting me spill my thoughts

Thank you both for your kind words. I too have always relied on the Lord to lift me up. When I stop and think of all the times that He has been there for me it is so amazing. I know He has brought us all here to lift one another up in Joy and love, for we truly are sisters. Both in joy and in heart ache. We will and can over come this together. I too often put on a smile for others to see, but then I think of what joy we have in Jesus. What Jesus did and is still doing for us, He is the music in my soul and heart. I love stealing a few moments of time for myself to meditate and find that light that leads to the Lord listening to music of meditation sounds of nature. This warm feeling of love and enlightenment comes over me. I can actually visualize what Heaven is like. This helps with the bouts of depression for me and having a great team like "KEEP WALKING WITH JESUS". I love all of you so much and appreciate all you do for this team, keep up the great work supporting one another.

I too have suffered with depression on/off for years. I try to remember we all have feelings, but we should not let those feelings control us, but sometimes it is very hard.
The smile people see on my face, doesn't reflect the break in my heart.
I know I am a child of God and that is what keeps me going.
Prayers for all of us who have been hurt by others, whether on purpose or accident, we have to remember we are a child of the King. God Bless us all.

I have been in and out of depression for the last 3 months, I have to put on a brave face for the sake of my children but it eats me at times, and it hurts so bad, because there is no one to talk to. SURVIVOR61, heres some emoticon , it will be well.

Many of us have problems in our lives that hinder what we are trying to do. Maybe, if we share and talk about it we can help each other through the rough times toward our goals. You may know someone with this same disorder that you can encourage and in turn that can be motivation for both of you. This information is from the Mayo Clinic .

Schizoaffective disorder symptoms look like a mixture of two kinds of major mental illnesses that are usually thought to run in different families, involve different brain mechanisms, develop in different ways, and respond to different treatments: mood (affective) disorders and schizophrenia.

Symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder

The two major mood disorders are unipolar depression and bipolar or manic-depressive illness.
Seriously depressed people:
Feel constantly sad and fatigued
Have lost interest in everyday activities
Are indecisive and unable to concentrate
Sleep and eat too little or too much
Complain of various physical symptoms
May have recurrent thoughts of death and suicide
People experiencing a manic mood are:
Suffering from sleeplessness
Compulsively talkative
Agitated and distractible
Convinced of their own inflated importance
Susceptible to buying sprees
Prone to cheerfulness turning to irritability
Indiscreet sexual advances, and foolish investments
Paranoia, and rage
People with chronic schizophrenia:
Appear apathetic
Are emotionally unresponsive
Have limited speech
Have confused thinking
May suffer from hallucinations and delusions
Perplex others with their strange behavior
And inappropriate emotional reactions
Difficulty In Distinguishing Illnesses

People with:
Affective disorders usually appear normal between episodes of illness and do not become more seriously disabled with time.
Schizophrenia rarely seem normal, and their condition tends to deteriorate, at least in the early years of the illness.
