I thought of one more reason: I want to be able to sit and cross my legs. I'm very uncomfortable when I sit right now, needing effort to hold my legs together. Ugh!

My top ten reasons to lose weight are (updated from 1 year ago)

1. Reduce my risk of heart disease and diabetes
2. Reduce my risk of other health problems like Alzheimer's
3. I will be in less pain if I lose weight (I have not much pain now so I want to keep it that way!)
4. I will feel stronger and have more energy (I have a dog now and I do have energy to play with her now and I want to increase my stamina so I can keep her healthy and active too)
5. I will feel good about myself
6. I donated all my clothes that were a size 14 or bigger - not going back to those sizes.
7. If I have more energy I can be a better housewife and caregiver for DH (and playing with grandchildren in a few years maybe)
8. If I feel better I can cope with stress
9. If I can cope with stress I will be happier
10. there is a chance I could donate a kidney to my husband next year, that cannot happen unless I am healthy (and I can't keep him alive if I am not strong and healthy)

Today I gave more thought to my reasons for weight loss:

When I stay committed and disciplined to keep moving forward, I see how
discipline can overlap into other areas of my life. I also stayed committed to
really organizing our home, and it is such a satisfying feeling to accomplish
the initial goal!

To feel better about myself
To have more energy
To be more limber … (I have ankylosing spondylitis)
To reduce pain and stiffness
To sleep better (and I do with eating well and exercise)
To wear the most attractive clothes.
To take pride in my appearance.
To slow aging
To never become a burden to my husband.
Overall: to look and feel great!

I found my older post below for this ...

10 Reasons I Want to Lose Weight

1. I want to improve my total health, and I feel that losing weight will help me not only physically, but definitely mentally, and possibly spiritually.
2. To look great in clothes I love and to actually "dress" every day in clothes I love, not just throw on jeans and a big top to hide everything in.
3. To gain energy for future grand-kids and fun activities.
4. To improve my confidence and self-esteem.
5. To improve a few obesity related ailments I've acquired.
6. To avoid any new obesity related illnesses and ailments in the future.
7. To stop hiding from cameras and hating myself in pictures.
8. To make myself proud as well as certain people in my life.
9. To improve my social anxiety that stems from feeling like and/or being the fattest and ugliest woman in the place all the time.
10. To be my own kind of healthy, confident, 'beautiful' me.

Well, I am now reliably 10lbs, sometimes 14lbs, lower in weight than I was when I began 4 yrs ago. Those are not big numbers, but those 10-14lbs made such a BIG difference to how I feel about myself. So those things are the main reasons I want to maintain the lower weight

1. Confidence: I am much more confident - my body no longer gets in my way at all on a day-to-day basis
emoticon
2. Calmness: I am much calmer around food generally
emoticon
3. Self-respect: I have established respect for my body
emoticon
4. Empowerment: It feels good to be in control of my body size
emoticon
5. Clothes: I now love shopping for clothes & love reaching for the smaller sizes knowing they fit!
emoticon
6. Comfortable with my age: Now that I am slimmer, I no longer feel 'frumpy'
7. Athleticism: I love being able to run and do yoga without my body getting in the way
8. Role model: I enjoy being a healthy role-model for colleagues and friends
9. Independence: Being strong enough to do things for myself, and help others
10. Accomplishment: I feel a sense of achievement in maintaining my healthy weight

And 10 more - which are why I want to lose more weight (about 5lbs)

1. To be lean, strong, healthy
2. To never let my belly get between me and my thighs in child's post
3. To minimize the effects of age on things like varicose veins in my legs
4. For my family not to worry about me
5. To fit comfortably into all my clothes, always
6. To have a bit of leeway for occasional indulgences
7. To be comfortable running
8. To be confident putting a swimsuit on
9. To find out what it feels like!
10. To take up less space on the planet!

I went back and reviewed what I wrote last time...and my reasons still hold true. I was heavier then, but where I want to be now. So here goes...pretty much the same, but slightly revised.

10 reasons I want to maintain the weight I'm at now:

1. Being at goal reduces those needy feelings and unexplained hunger attacks that being heavier seems to bring out in me.

2. I'm just about 5 pounds away from the pants that fit me now becoming tight around the waistband.

3. I want to get rid of my heavier clothing without worrying about maybe needing it again someday. I like feeling at ease in my clothing.

4. Eating less saturated fat will improve my LDL cholesterol number as well as help me stay on track weight-wise.

5. My skin is what it is -- that of a 65 yr old...but, still, I DO look better in a swimsuit when I'm at goal.

6. I enjoy my workouts at the Y more when my slimmer form is reflected in the mirrors.

7. Still on a search for the perfect fitting pair of pants (why is that so difficult for my pear shape?), but weighing less definitely gives me more options.

8. Since I've re-gained in the past, I know it's a really bad feeling ---even though it might only be a "few" (like 10) pounds. This time I feel equipped to maintain within 2-3 pounds.

9. I want to continue my healthy vegetarian eating that emphasizes veggies and fruit and keeping an eye on tracking will not only make sure I continue to get a good nutrient intake, but also help with maintenance.

10. I want to be able to enjoy special times like the holidays without gaining.
