Mine is related to keeping my blood sugars as low as possible. Always balance the carbs with protein (and try to keep the carbs low). Also, those 10 minute walks really help the blood sugar too.

The best tip I ever got was to remember to ask myself "Will the world end tomorrow if I don't do this RIGHT NOW". I tend to be an over achiever, and learning to stop and make the choice that was right, not what was expected was a HUGE release for me. Now I can live with a little clutter (not dirt mind you) and play with my son instead of scrubbing :). Also I am not quilty when I tell my son I really do HAVE to go to Curves. :)

I have figured out that I have to put myself in first place sometimes, this is something I have never done, the no. 6 child, 2 younger 5 older, it seemed to me, that I was always waiting for my turn at anything. Then when I got married I was so anxious to please him, ( emoticon ) yeah, we all were, anyway, then we had our son, and I really went to the back burner then, all of this by my own choosing, but still and all, there I went, It has only been since I joined Sparks and started reading all of the blogs, that I have discovered that I have to really like myself to make a change, it is hard work, and there are lots of time, I need to get on the computer and do my Sparks, or just get out and walk or do my exercise, and my husband kind of resents that I am not sitting by him watching TV with him or just talking, I am not saying that he doesnt want me to do it, just it would be nice if I could do it when he wasnt wanting attention or whatever men want. emoticon . I still kind of feel guilty when I say I will do something later, but it is getting easier and easier, because I know that I am important and I have to be physically able to take care of both of us.

Start a gratitude journal and write at least 1 thing you are grateful for each day. It is both inspiring and very motivating.

You've got three choices in life. Give up, give in, or give it your all.

53 pounds down and approaching goal! WooHoo!

Drink your 8 glasses of water, forgive yourself slip-ups (it helps keep you from turning oops into weeks-on-end binges) and make an exercise schedule and keep to it!

using affirmations daily, help healthier choices become more natural responses. for example, "I am supported and encouraged in all of my efforts" has made me less likely to turn to food when i face disappointments.

don't be afraid of fats.

good fats (avocado, nuts, etc.) are ESSENTIAL to healthy living and weight loss.. in moderation of course.

Little things add up:
A glass of water here and there
A 5 minute walk
small amounts of favorite foods
An extra 30 minutes of sleep
Adding a pouund to free weights

What have I learned from the years of trying to reach my overall goal. EVERYTHING MATTERS/MAKES A DIFFERENCE Every drop that you eat every movement you make. The type of food and how it is prepared and the type of "exercise" how you do it and how much of it you do, matters.
Adding in along with my 30 to 60 mins a day workout the extra 30min walk at lunch, five min stair climb on break-doing without sugar, grains and fatty foods is what made the difference and I lost the weight. Thank you for reading I needed this for myself as well
Have a wonderful day

I have learned that if you want to get your excerise in for the day to do it first thing in the morning. Lay your workout clothes and shoes out the night before by your bed. That way you trip over them when you get out of bed. LOL Then go workout. That way you have no excuses for not getting in your workout. Plus you can start the day on a natural stress free feeling.

This time around, I am not going to give up on me I am worth it. Besides my son there is no one else in this world that is worth it more than my self. I will not be discouraged if I don't lose a pound from now till March 1st. The winter months are so hard for me. I am just going to strive to stay at my current weight till March. Not saying that I wouldn't be happy to lose! Just don't want any gains. I was told this morning at my WW meeting that this is a cop out.

The thing I have found most useful is just to keep on trying. Don't let a bad meal, bad day, bad week, bad month keep you from continuing on your healthy journey. Be proud of yourself every single day for trying.

I've been taking an "inventory" of my accomplishments this year. Instead of being down that I lost "only" 25 pounds, I celebrate that & the other lifestyle changes I have made. 2010 is ending on a far different note than it began!

be significant.

Challenge 12/23/10: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy Thursday to you!

As we progress on our healthy living journey, we pick up bits of useful information. We read great books, magazines, website articles, and blogs. We watch informative shows on television.

Our challenge today is to SHARE A PIECE OF USEFUL INFORMATION TO HELP OTHERS ON THEIR JOURNEY. It could be from any of the sources above, or one you have learned about over the years and want to share.

Here is an example:

*Take a BEFORE picture of yourself and put it in a place where you see it every day. A great place to put it is on your refrigerator or pantry door. When you feel like eating, take a look at your picture. You can also cut out a magazine photo of a body you would like to work towards (i.e. one from Shape, Weight Watchers, etc.). Do you really NEED to eat right now, or are you just bored, stressed, etc? That photo might motivate you to walk away.

Have a THANKS FOR THE TIPS Thursday!
