My friend invited me to do Zumba with her at the gym. SUCH a fun class! Sweating and moving with a smile on my face the whole time.

No longer go to that gym but have Zumba DVD for home use and also have been to Zumba at Curves.

May take some Zumba classes at a community center. Love Latin dance! Love Zumba!

Has everyone seen the Zumba-like emoticons new on Spark???
They are under fitness!

I actually love to do aerobics-type exercise, I was hooked on Leslie Sansone for a while after each child, I used Walk away the Pounds, but I have been a dancer all my life, taking a break for a while while in college, having kids, etc.,

Fast forward to the last few months, my daughter's dance studio is going to have a Zumba class this fall and I was signed up to take it. I started thinking i was going to find a class ahead of time somewhere else so i could do it before I actually got to her class. In the process, I fell in love with Zumba and had a "lightbulb moment" and asked her about her instructor, and she did not have one, so i offered to do it, and so then she offered to pay for me to go!!! so i went last week and it was awesome. We are planning so much now. Its going to be incredible!

A friend of mine told me that they were going to be offering Zumba classes at the local K-12 school (one of the 1st grade teachers is the instructor). I had never heard of it before, but they way she described it, it sounded like fun! So I went. And was IMMEDIATELY hooked! Eight months later, I'm in the best shape that I've been in in years, and I'm planning on getting certified to teach...as soon as I get the money together to take the certification course. ;)

Ironically enough, my friend washed out...me, I'm addicted for life! :D

Here's my story. I was at a women's cross country ski outing. As a warm up we did Zumba, outside, on the snow, in skis! It was sort of funny, and a lot of laughs, and tons of fun. I like to dance (and had participated in some dance classes, but they were so serious! And I'm looking for fun in my exercise). So, the first time I heard about a Zumba class in my town, I went...and got the bug emoticon

We had moved back to NM and I was trying to find a belly dance class somewhat near us. (having taken classes off and on for 3 yrs) Had no luck for awhile-but then I stumbled upon a Zumba studio that said it had one- so I went. It was NOTHING like I was used to- it was like this hardore cardio class with belly dance moves...it nearly killed me- but I loved it. Went back the next week and that night they announced they were replacing that class with a Zumba toning class. I was BUMMED. So, I thought about it for a week or two and then decided to try Zumba- but with the same instructor that had done the belly dance class. I was terrified, but went anyway and though I felt completely lost- I kinda liked it (though the music wasn't my thing). The next week I tried again. Now - I'm up to 3x a week and actually will go 4 times this week! It's been 2 months or so now...

My sister told me I HAD to go check out a workout class that was gonna start up in our little town. I agree to accompany her because she was excited and she's not too big on working out. We went, we danced, we have not stopped since April 2011. An amazing ZumbaFamily was instantly created in our community and I dont know what I would do without my ZumbaGirls. Our instructor is amazing and now 4 of our students have become certified also. =) My sister and i will follow suit in December.

Watching the Ad's on late night TV when I was up doing assignment's. Then the boyfriend asked me what I wanted for christmas... 'Zumba for wii' haha. Then I moved to Melbourne and found a class. And they also did ZumbaTomic, so my daughter joined too. Haven't looked back!

It was a new class at the gym I was going to at the time. Not going to the gym anymore but did workouts to Youtube videos then finally bought the dvd set. No regrets!

I'd heard stuff online in forums I'm in, just generally around. Later I saw my gym had it, so I gave it (and several other classes, over time) a whirl... turned out I liked it, so!

When I started my internship in January a lady in the office asked me if I was interested in going with her because her zumba partner had quit attending. At first I was nervous but I had always wanted to try it yet none of my friends would go with me. Sooooo I went and I AM HOOKED! HaHa! I love it and I go to every class offered, which right now is 4 days a week. Sometimes I even stay for the second class offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays! ;)

I got the bug from my honey! He is from Costa RIca and we love going dancing together. After our son was born I really needed to get back to being me. And late night channel surfing found me.
I love my Zumba and I am starting to out dance my honey and that is almost as good as having a firmer backside!!! lol

A friend on a message board posted a video of her and her little son dancing to the DVDs. Around the same time, my gym started offering classes. I thought that if a three-year-old could do it, I should give it a try. :)

I have a very bad knee injury, was recovering from brain surgery at the time and I live in a very isolated, non-Latin place, so I hadn't been able to do any dancing in years. I grew up with salsa and merengue and at one point in my life was a competative dancer (and have always been a Latin music fanatic) so it has been wonderful to have an outlet for my dancy energy again.

I'm in such good shape now that I am dipping my toes back into serious salsa...traveling to a world-class congreso de salsa in about a month.

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, cumba Mexicana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, danzón, Cuban rumba, ballroom rumba

I hate to say it but it was a good friend who introduced me to Zumba! I hate to say it because she is the general manager of the arena where I had played indoor soccer for over 10 years and I left soccer to do Zumba! One of my Zumba instructors had contacted my friend about possibly renting some floor space to do classes when she was just starting out. My friend was not able to accommodate my instructor, but my friend mentioned the other building where my teacher had Tuesday/Thursday classes, so a bunch of my soccer friends went and took a couple of classes. I was hooked from the first class and retired from soccer after that session ended, so my friend who had sent me the info for Zumba lost me as a soccer customer! My friends all knew I was getting burned out on soccer after over 10 years, so it was no surprise I retired when I did b/c I was so enthusiastic about Zumba and there was the conflict of having Zumba and soccer on Tuesdays. I chose Zumba on Tuesdays, but they were a bit surprised I also quit my Wednesday team, but it was too much to do Zumba on Tuesday, soccer on Wednesday, and then Zumba on Thursday and Saturday, just too much!

emoticon Marie!! I didn't know that I was the one who got you interested in Zumba....that's just makes me feel special. If Beto comes to your class, I need advanced warning and I'm getting in my car and am headed your way!! That would just be too cool......almost as good as meeting Leandro....... emoticon

I had a friend and her daughter who often talked about going to Zumba and wanting me to go. I was worried I wouldn't be able to since I was not overly coordinated and overweight. I went the first class and I was hooked. That was going on three years ago.

Well. . my friend "Cindy" (haha Beachgirl1205) was always talking about doing it so she got me curious. . .and then my friend and I are always wanting to try something new for our workouts so we went to 1 live class. . .which led to 2 and so on. We both fell in love with it, then we went and got our instructor licenses. . .and now we just Zumba every chance we get, whether it is teaching a class, attending a class as a student, holding or participating in a Zumbathon or Jam Session or in our basements working on new Choreo. Then what is better than advancing your skills with the Amazing Madelene Aponte, Gina Grant or Kass Martin when you can! I have been to their live trainings. . .AMAZING! Rumor has it that if you publicize your classes. . .occasionally Beto will show up to random ones. .. wouldn't that be awesome??!!

About 4 yrs ago I went to a Health Fair in Tacoma, WA, Ali Vincent (winner of the Biggest Loser) was the guest speaker and they had people doing Zumba on the stage for a fill until she came out. It looked like it was fun but still took me about 2 yrs to order the original DVDs and now I'm starting Zumba Exhilarate. Zumba is so much fun and I love Gina, Tanya and especially Beto!!

I decided to try Zumba Gold shortly after I joined the Y 2 years ago. I liked it enough to keep going when the friend I dragged said it wasn't for her, but I wasn't in love with it. I then moved to a regular class with a Cuban instructor who I struggled to follow - amazing to watch, though, know what I mean? Finally, after doing it for about 9 months, a new instructor took over the class and I was hooked after her first class. Now I take all 4 classes that she teaches each week (and occasionally return to the Cuban's class or a few others) and I assist wherever I can. After my training next month, I may sub for her if she's ever out sick.

Technically Convention starts on 8/14, but I arrive the day before! So Excited :)
