Eva: I asked my brother and they already have plans for the 11th, so we're tentatively scheduling our girly day for the 18th. My niece says donuts have to be involved but I checked the mall's website and they have no donut stores, so I'll have to figure that one out. Maybe steal her for breakfast and lunch instead of lunch and dinner. We could hit Dunkin' Donuts before getting our nails done, then head to the mall.

I was the one who did most of the cat wrangling (as my poor arms will attest) and I think they blame me for their situation. I went to check on them before my appointment this morning and not a cat was in sight. DH says he saw two of them before he went to work, and a bowl of food was partially eaten, so I know they're in there. They're just sulking.

I knew that kids with pets had higher self-esteem, cognitive development, and social skills but I didn't know their immune system was stronger, too! My kid is getting all the perks, lol

You definitely do deserve a to read and watch the Food Network. I need to do some grocery shopping of my own - I have no lunches for this week! But we have no place to store food, so I think I am eating out until we're back in our own home. I had a Jimmy John's sandwich yesterday, and I think I am having a salad today. Tomorrow I might hit up Starbucks, or maybe see if the gyro place around the corner has chicken/turkey gyros.

Bella: Hi! How are you?

Feline: I think the question is up to mom. If you return your niece before mother's day is up it might be a nice break/date night mother's day gift.

Your cats will be fine, but they won't be happy. I have 5 cats now. I clean up hair every single day. My house is not dirty. My sisters in law have dogs. They clean up hair every single day. If you're not pet people then you'd complain. I'm sorry the in-laws are complaining so much. I'm sure your house is/was fine. I think it's an inlaw's duty to gripe about something. It certainly seems like mine always is.

FYI -- Kids that grow up in a house with 1 or more pets have stronger immune systems.

I'm glad you finished the walk!

Thank you about the party. I'm worn out. I finished cleaning my house yesterday so today I get an Eva day. I think I deserve a quiet day to read and watch food network. Tomorrow I'm cutting my mother's hair and we are going out to lunch. Thursday I have a doctor's appointment of my own. Friday at least is a normal shopping day. No party food list!

Mini: Hello! Welcome to the team!

Eva: DH moved the second tree to the garage, so I don't know if he's agreed to get rid of it or not, but it's really nice to be able to walk through that space again. No cat seems to be mourning its loss (they mostly used it to peer into the kitchen). They're just hanging out in the kitchen more, lol.

MIL and FIL BOTH came over Sunday to look at the house and complain. They vacuumed, complained about our cats, yelled at my husband about the state of our (very clean) house, tore out some tiling that they felt should be covered by carpet, complained about our cats some more, then left. We're spending the next three nights at their house while the carpet is replaced and I am so anxious I woke up grinding my teeth to the point of a face- and headache. They won't let the cats in their house so they will be in their garage for the next three nights, and I am terribly worried about them.

The Lymphoma walk went great on Saturday. We were second to last between my slow walking and my niece stopping to look at things and playing with her stuffed animal, but we finished! She and I talked about my last hurrah idea - she wanted to go to a pool, but I told her it was too cold (specifically she wanted me to set up my kiddie pool), so she suggested Chuck E Cheese which her dad vetoed. So her mom suggested getting her nails done and I added on my mall idea and she was so excited about the idea of a girly day she wanted to do it yesterday! So I think the plan is set, I just need to work with her parents for a good day to steal her. Not next week since it is DHs birthday weekend, and not the weekend after since it's Mother's Day weekend (unless a child-free Saturday before Mother's Day would make a good gift?) so maybe May 18th.

Oh, your party looked like SO much fun! And what yummy looking cakes! Congratulations to the Hufflepuffs :) Are you ready for a break now? I know you worked so hard. I bet Bug is tired out from all the partying, too!

Mini: Hello! How are you?

Feline: If you get rid of all the cat trees it will lead to cat fights. Maybe your FIL should be told.

You could "Marie Kondo" the room. But if I got rid of everything that didn't spark joy there's be nothing left. LOL No vacuum, no dust rags, no full laundry baskets. LOL

Your niece would love a drive in. Mainly because she doesn't have to be quiet or sit still. We put blankets on the ground for a "picnic" style experience and take camping chairs. Raise the hatch and you're ready to go.

The party went well. We ended up having 4 guests. I'm happy that 3 adults stepped up to fill out the house teams for our Quidditch tournament. It's a good sign when the kids don't want to go home. The weather held so when the party was over so we took our niece to Prater's Taters for dinner then up to the drive-in. She had a blast. We watched Endgame. Friday night we watched Infinity War just so our niece wouldn't be lost the entire movie. She also informed me that our parties and sleepovers are weird but that's what makes them fun. That made me smile. She likes that we plan group activities and it's not just "Go Play." She liked the drive in enough to ask if she can go back with us in the near future.

I have pictures up in the blog. I didn't get pictures of my Quidditch game but I made a good Madam Hooch!

Eva: We'd be going to his favorite Indian place, a nice little place with lots of options and very strange hours. I proposed a "babymoon" but he thinks we should save our money for baby, so dinner is a good compromise - especially with the bonus of the gift card.

Cleaners mostly just clean, they don't do a lot of moving of stuff which is mainly our problem - we just have a lot of STUFF. For that we'd need an organizer - which is much more expensive! I looked into one and it looks like the average cost in our area runs around $40/hour or about $300 per room, depending on the type of service you need. The gal I hired for yesterday did a good job considering how much she charged and how messy our house was. She was the lowest priced individual I looked at, so we weren't surprised there were some things she didn't do, but the house did look much better. She even did our dishes, which was a big surprise!

My FIL has decided that he is sick of our housekeeping (I don't know why it impacts him?) and has vowed that if our home is not spotless by Sunday he's going to come and clean it himself. He also wants us to get rid of all but one cat tree, which seems ridiculous to us since the cats USE the trees. We did get rid of the least used tree last night, and now our old man cat is in mourning over its loss. That leaves us with five trees for four cats. I'd be willing to get rid of one more - the one by the kitchen that partially blocks a hallway - but DH doesn't want to. My FIL has a key to the house, though, so we'll see if we come home to the trees being gone some day next week.

I have never been to a drive-in either, but there are a few that opened nearby in the last few years. One even offers glamping! That might be a fun idea for my niece sometime - she likes camping, and she's a glamour puss. Have a great time at the party enjoying all your hard work this weekend!

Feline: Most couples have a mini trip or a big date night just before the baby is due. I think using your gift card for that date night is a wonderful idea, plus DH gets a nice meal for his birthday.

I like your plans with your niece. She'll love being "Queen for a Day." Some salons sell packages for that at a discounted price. You might ask and see.

I'm sorry the cleaner seems more of a hindrance than a help. Is there someplace that isn't the nursery you can send her? Help is help and if you can manage the nursery on your own it might be best to have her do another space if possible.

I'm off to the grocery store after drop-off line, then home to make modeling chocolate and decorate my cakes. I have a busy day. My youngest niece (3 weeks older than Bug) is staying the weekend. After the party, we plan to surprise her with a trip to the drive-in. Brenna wants to see the Avengers movie and Anna has never been to the drive-in. It should be fun had by all!

Eva: I was initially thinking a day out doing crafts, but all the best ones are next weekend and that's DHs birthday weekend! So while he would drive us around because he's a nice guy, I know he's going to want that weekend for his own things. We've been so busy this month he hasn't had a single weekend to himself (even this weekend is all about me, with the cancer walk). So I'd like to let him take his birthday weekend off. Then I thought a movie day, but my dad does that with her pretty often so it wouldn't be that special. So my current thinking is a girly day. Get our nails done and go hang at the mall. Devote, like, $100 to mall shopping and let her just browse, check out all the stores, and get junk food. Then maybe meet up with her parents for a more reasonable dinner after. Kind of a "Queen for the Day" type thing.

Last night DH, who regularly stays up until 1:00-2:00am playing video games, got too tired at 11:00pm and went to bed. So the house is still a mess. I am not expecting the cleaner to be able to do much of anything, which, honestly, is fine. I was annoyed by having to schedule her to come anyway - all it did was move up the date the house had to be clean by a week and throw off DH's plan. Once things are finished boxing up we have a nice vacuum, we can do that ourselves. Or DH can, he will probably find some issue with me vacuuming. I can definitely wipe down counters and most shelves though - they're torso height!

This week is employee appreciation week at my Firm, and everyone got a $75 gift card yesterday. DH and I are deciding if we want to treat ourselves to a nice dinner out or be more responsible and use it for groceries. I think we should try for a nice date night for his birthday. There certainly won't be many of those for awhile once baby comes.

Feline: That's awesome that the men joined in. I like the Price is Right game!

Any ideas of what to do with your niece before baby? When you're with your niece she might like "jobs" to do with the baby. Singing or reading to the baby. Nothing hard but she'll feel like a big girl and that will help keep her in the attention spectrum. It will ease the transition for her. Or it did my niece when they brought home her baby sister. She was 6.

The tempering of chocolate is a tedious business. I used molds, but getting chocolate out of molds isn't always fun. I had 5 that stuck. Considering they had Gryffindor truffle (red) insides it was almost gory. It would have been much easier with a silicone mold, but I couldn't find one that looked like a real frog and not a cartoon one so I ended up with plastic.

I'll take pictures and post them on Monday. Today I have to wrap the items for the present game and make an Owl Post sign. I'm hoping I have a decent turnout. I still haven't gotten any RSVPs.

Eva: There weren't any crazy games, so they did. One of them even won a game where you had to get the closest to the cost of baby items without going over - he was $1.24 under!

People kind of split up into family branches - friends at one table, in-laws at another table, my immediate family at another, extended family at another. My moms were sick so they sat at the very back table away from everyone which was no fun. My niece wanted me at her side at all times, per usual. My mom joked that she was the only person I needed to invite for a good time. I need to think of something fun for us to do before baby arrives, a last hurrah before she needs to share the attention.

Your party is going to be awesome! Were the frogs hard to make? Or did you find froggy molds?

Feline: Thank you. I definitely miss the old girl laying on the back of the sofa and loving on my head while I watched a tv show.

It seems like just about every party has a large list of no shows. I hate that. Parties are fun and good for catching up. Did the men participate in any of the games?

Baby Boy will probably flip. The body often coaxes the baby to do so on its own. You can encourage him by lying kind of reclined. Most babies flip at night because of the gravity on their butt becomes uncomfortable when you are in a reclining position.

Congrats on your grades! Hopefully, this class will move you right along.

We have a plague of chocolate frogs in the fridge for Saturday. Most of my prep work is done. I have to hide Dobby socks, make an Owlery (balloons), wrap the stuff for the "pass the present" game. I should have gotten a Mrs. Weasley style sweater for that LOL. Today I'm going to do a crumb coat on my cakes and get them ready for Friday. That's when I decorate.

Eva: I am so sorry about Pearl. Losing a pet is so difficult and heartbreaking, I wish you lots of love.

My leg is walkable but still twingey. It's a muscle in my thigh so it gets a lot of use, I think it'll be another week or so before it's completely healed. I forgot about yoga last night, I was just so tired, and I am meeting friends for dinner tonight, so I will see if yoga helps tomorrow night.

I got another A on my second assignment - maybe this class won't be as bad as I dreaded. I am still worried about the final project, but I seem to have the hang of the weekly assignments. I have all the readings done for assignment 3 so will work on it today with the hopes of turning it in by tomorrow night. Then hopefully assignment 4 by Sunday night and I'll be halfway done with the class!

We had a lot of no-shows for my baby shower, like I expected. About half the food was left, and two tables were empty. It was still fun, though, and my niece especially had a blast - she helped with the presents (eventually helping me open them lol). I'm looking forward to the next few weeks just being over with (carpet replacement) so we can finally finish setting up the nursery.

I had an OB appointment today and baby boy has a deadline - if he doesn't turn head down by 36 weeks I can opt for a manual turn or if that fails (it has a less than 50% success rate) a cesarean. He's got a month to make the flip! I don't know if he will, he seems pretty darn cozy up in my ribs.

Feline: I hope your leg is feeling better by now. Bless your heart. I agree, if no one took you up on a day, getting a long term substitute might be difficult.

Congrats on your A!!!

Pearl, the 16-year-old cat, passed over the rainbow bridge yesterday morning, very early. She had seasonal allergies and started sneezing on Friday. This was not unusual for her, but she quickly took a turn for the worst and passed.

Otherwise, we had a nice and productive weekend. I learned I suck at ladder ball. We planted flowers. I'm doing my best to grow a wholly garden. I'd like to get some Purple Coneflowers. growing here.

Today I clean house and get started on party foods. Those frogs are not going to mold themselves, are they?

Eva: The cleaner will arrive next Thursday, so we have about a week to prepare. Then the week after that the carpet crew will arrive so we'll be spending three days at the in-laws with the cats, which will be interesting. We have only two cat carriers for the four cats since we've never traveled with more than two before, so we might have to pick up two more carriers.

This was the last week of the exercise classes at work. We get a week off, then the summer session begins. I pulled a muscle in my leg so tried to find a sub for barre yesterday, after posting on the bulletin board and emailing 12 people individually I didn't find anyone so had to go. I ended up messing up my leg worse and decided to drop out of the summer session barre. If it was that hard to find someone for a single day I bet it would be impossible to find someone to cover the 3 weeks I'd need when I go on maternity leave, so I am just doing yoga for the summer session. Saves me some money and hassle.

I was pleasantly surprised to get an A on my first paper yesterday. I have finished half the readings for my second assignment - I hope to finish another tonight after work. Normally I'd study on my lunch break, but a coworker wants to take me out this afternoon and talk about baby plans. So I have tonight and Saturday before/after the baby shower to finish the readings and then Sunday to write the paper. It should be doable.

My niece likes Mario and Kirby. She's pretty good at those games, I'll need to get her to help me out sometime. I think it's Mario Odyssey that I am stuck in, lol

Feline: I'm glad DH now has an "end date." You are right, if you don't have to bend repeatedly you can pack. The more active with normalish tasks you are the better your final weeks will go. Packing things off a shelf would be similar to putting away dishes, loading a dishwasher, or doing laundry. It will aid in your recovery from delivery. I was very active up until the end and I recovered in about half the time expected. The main thing is, take a break when you get tired.

You inlaws are very kind to offer a cleaning service.

Feline, when Baby Boy gets here your niece will feel like slow motion compared to your own child. Or that's how it is for me and my older niece and nephew. Nephew is 21 and niece is 16. I thought they grew up fast, but when it's your own it's like you just blinked.

Bug had a really good day. A surprise lunch at school. She didn't know I was bringing my mother or food. I made her wag a packed lunch box so she didn't suspect anything. Then, Olive Garden for dinner and a piece of cheesecake for dessert. She opened a few gifts, then asked to stay up until her birth time. 9:18 wasn't a bad time since there's no school today. So I watched her play her new Switch games until bedtime. She tickles me talking to Mario in Mario Oddessy.

Today we do the shopping, go cut mother-in-law's hair, color eggs to be used in Easter dinner Sunday, and maybe do some party prep. She still has to "Jackson Pollock" a table cloth for me to hang on the ceiling. Well, she asked if she could be the one to do it. Who am I to deny my artist a pallet and the permission to make a mess? I so can't wait to share pictures of this party. It's the last one for a while, by her request. She figured out how much time and money goes into it all. Next year she's asked if we could use that money for a mini vacation.

Kali: Oh, the instructor is! He's excited I've chosen the accelerated option. My school does classes one-on-one, so I am his only student in the class. That means if I finish early, he does, too. He still gets paid for the full class but gets the extra time without having to instruct me! I turned in the first paper last night and he emailed me that he will try to get to grading it this morning. I've started the readings for next week this morning and peeped at what the assignment is - another study analysis. So if I can finish the readings by tomorrow night (or even Saturday night, after the baby shower), I should be able to get the second paper turned in Sunday night. If I can keep up the Wednesday/Sunday pattern I'll be done in 4 weeks instead of 8, if I pass all the assignments anyway.

My in-laws have asked us to postpone the carpets by a week so the installation won't interfere with plans to go to the theater, which gives us two weeks to clean up. They've also offered to pay for a cleaning service to help - they're being really generous. I've used cleaning services before so I know they won't help us move things around and whatnot, so we've still got to finish all that. But it will be nice knowing the fine touches can be finished by someone else - like the vacuuming and scrub downs. This also gives DH a date to plan for, which means he will be more productive. He still doesn't want me to help, but I think I've convinced him that if he puts boxes up for me on chairs I can still pack stuff without having to bend down.

Eva: Happy birthday to Bug! Sounds like a nice day, and I know the party is going to be an absolute blast. Time really passes by. My niece turns 7 this year, and I'm like, but you were just a baby last year emoticon

Feline: I hope it all works out. A heads up, sometimes men get a bigger kick out of the baby shower games than women. Be prepared LOL!

Good luck with your paper. You'll do well. I believe in you.

Kali: I didn't know a car could have 2 fuel pumps. Is it a hybrid? Or maybe a flex fuel?

Fingers crossed for your CASA teamamate.

Bug is 11 today! I can't believe it. I've made cinnamon rolls this morning to serve with fruit and put up a birthday banner. I'll be going for lunch today, then she gets to choose where we have dinner tonight. Then the party is next weekend. I swear I don't know where the time has gone to.

Bella - how fun - a new garden!

Feline - it's interesting how we manage to work on different schedules and yet everything gets finished... It's taken me years to let DH do his own thing and amazingly it works out...
Glad to hear about the accelerated class option. I hope your prof is accelerated in getting your grades back to you!

Eva- glad to hear gardening is finished and birthday prep is underway - busy week indeed!

CASA meeting went well - keep your fingers crossed she can complete one more week...
emoticon problem has been determined - the high pressure fuel pump needs replaced (whoever heard of 2 fuel pumps in a car?)
emoticon but the good news is the cost will be reimbursed as the pump is still under warranty. Now the only question is whether to keep the car or trade it in...

Eva: He's pretty terrible under pressure. He does okay with long-term deadlines - like knowing we need things done by around June 16th lets him plan and prepare, but when it's "we'll call you when we're ready" and he has no day to plan for he gets so flustered he just doesn't do anything. He's very last minute though, which stresses me out. I like being prepared earlier for things. I pre-buy tickets, he buys at the door. That kind of thing.

He will be at the shower, my grandma thinks a co-ed shower is a little weird, lol, but I expect the guys will mostly split off into their own little groups while the girls play games and whatnot.

The class is Advanced Quantitative Measurement and Analysis, and I have a mathematical learning disability. My teacher said we won't be doing any math the class is mostly to gauge my ability to understand quantitative research in its written form so we will be analyzing a lot of studies. But I *don't* understand quantitative research methods, lol. I usually skip over the methodology part of those studies and just read the conclusions. I am not expecting a great grade in this class. But I got the last of my readings done yesterday and started my first paper this morning. I am going to try to finish it today.

Kali: I hope they get your car fixed soon. How did the CASA meeting go?

Bella: What will you be planting in your gardens?

Feline: Does DH work best under pressure? I'm just curious. I'd send you my cleaning fairy, but she apparently quit on me. I'll be interested in how you handle this class. Maybe it won't be as bad as you think. Will DH be at your shower? Jim went to both of mine. He said it was his baby too. I had him open about half the gifts.

Well, I managed my taco with no problem. So my big mouth is back in action LOL.

Yesterday we managed to get all the plants and most of the seeds in the ground. I have 3 small packets left. We are currently deciding what to do with them. We have time, they are early May planters. I also managed to paint my Quidditch set gold yesterday. My snitch has wings. Today I get a day free of birthday prep! Next week will be full of hustle. I have frogs to mold and cakes to stack and decorate. I'm still trying to decide how to make a whomping willow tree...

Kali: Sounds like a lot of trouble with your car! I hope it's fixed soon. We had to get our window replaced twice (a rock hit it right after it was replaced the first time!), the air conditioning fixed, and the battery replaced. We need to mow our lawn, too. DH has been too unmotivated to do it, though.

Eva: I have never heard of those kinds of tomatoes! How neat! I am glad your jaw is feeling better, enjoy those tacos. We're probably having baked potatoes tonight. I am thinking either quinoa w/spinach or brussels sprouts for a side.

I started my new class yesterday - my final class before comps and dissertation! The textbook has teeny text and big words. I feel so intimidated (and bored). I sent the instructor a heads up that I am due the week after class ends so if I suddenly disappear I am not slacking but probably went into labor. He's offered to do an unofficial accelerated program with me - as long as I wait for my grade on the assignments before turning in the next one, he'll let me turn in two a week instead of the usual one. I am going to give it a try, but his is the class I dreaded second most as it is going to be very difficult for me. So I don't know how well I will handle two assignments a week. If I do, though, it means I finish next month and have some free time before baby.

The carpet guys have our carpet and are ready to come whenever. DH has done no cleaning - he packed two boxes of books and moved things from a bag into a box. I did two boxes of books, too, and got scolded for it (he doesn't want me helping because he's worried about the baby). So we'll see how this goes, especially with the baby shower this weekend so very little time to clean or do homework.

I love all the talk of Spring and planting on all the SP threads I'm on! This weekend is all about planting for me. I tore everything out of the flower beds last summer/fall and am so excited to start off with a fresh palate emoticon

Blessings all, Bella

Bella - I love the graphic!

Eva - a Chocolate Sprinkles tomato plant? How fun. I'm going to look for a Cherokee purple @ our nurseries - sounds yummy.
No news on the emoticon
Lots of tests so they can get a clear picture. At minimum it sounds like cylinders aren't firing, but we shall see. The blessing is this didn't happen on my way to Minnesota.

Team meeting today for my CASA child. Hope the outcome is she gets to go home early! Keep your fingers crossed.

Kali: I hope they find out what's going on with your car and it's not too expensive to fix. And may your lawnmower parts arrive early!

Bella: Hello! How are you?

This morning I can open my mouth fully. Just in time for Taco Tuesday! emoticon We didn't get the plants done yesterday. Brenna had a fair amount of homework. So maybe this afternoon we will be able to get it done. I bought a Chocolate Sprinkles tomato plant. I don't know what it will taste like but it's going in my salad. I want to make a run to Greenway Nursery and pick up a Cherokee Purple. They are a sweeter tomato. More berry-like in flavor and fun in a summer salad.

Eva - glad you are feeling better and will see your doc soon. Your deck garden sound great - there are so many new varieties for 'small' spaces.

We both cheered when emoticon won the Masters. It will be so good for emoticon and it was good they doubled up to miss the weather. (Less time in front of the TV.)
Still haven't started the emoticon DH needed to order a tune-up kit which should get here by Wednesday. We can only hope the grass won't be too long and it will arrive before the rain. We've decided to mulch the clippings and need the grass dry to cut. I'm also delayed on getting my topsoil but am good with our decision to oversee this fall.
emoticon is in the shop and they're getting all sorts of engine codes that they need to check out - so hours of work even before we know what's wrong. Good thing I trust these guys...

Kali: I hope you enjoyed your "Free Time." Did they get a look at your car?

Feline: I love the godparent proposal boxes! Enjoy your classes as long as you can. It's good for you and the baby to be mobile.

Our high school has the kids to choose a path, but recommend if you are not sure to choose the STEM path for a well-rounded approach going into college. Our STEM path offers a lot of dual enrollment classes.

I'm better today. Friday I looked like I had been socked in the jaw. Thank you for the well wishes. I had to see the clinic doctor on duty as my regular doctor wasn't on clinic rotation Friday. He gave me a Toradol shot, muscle relaxers, and a mild NSAID. I'm to follow up within a month with my regular doctor. Which isn't a problem since my check up is May 2nd.

This afternoon we plan to start a deck garden. Pretty much a few potted veggie plants on the deck. We favor the shade tree over the deck when it comes to eating outside, so I figure it would be nice to reclaim that space and use it for some fresh produce.

Feline - glad you have a 'free' weekend and your proposal sounds exceptional. I'm glad to hear US schools are starting to realize the worth of vocational education. Happy you signed up for both classes - you'll be in superb shape when the baby comes! Good luck getting your cool godparent proposal package out.

emoticon was picked up by AAA this morning and is being (or has been delivered) to our mechanic. We were headed for dinner last night and black smoke + the engine light came on. Per the manual, it was drivable, but I didn't want to chance it. They may get a chance to look @ it today, but if not Monday will work.
emoticon is calling me to emoticon but it's still a little cool and the emoticon battery has to be fully charged before I can start moving the trailer, cleaning yard waste and cutting the grass. We shall see what gets accomplished...

Eva: Sorry to hear about the TMJ! I understand that's painful, so I hope the doc can clear it up for you.

Kali: It's cold and windy with a little rain here. Enough to bring back my coat! But it's springtime, so it's at least not the heavy winter coat. A sweater would even do, but my coat has pockets.

I decided to go ahead and sign up for both yoga and barre. By my estimate I'll need a sub for at least three classes - the week of my due date, and the two weeks after. Once I get the email approving me for the classes I'll get the sub for the two weeks after, but I'll play the week of by ear - if I don't go into labor early and am still feeling good I may as well attend! If I start going over 40 weeks I have a feeling I am not going to feel up to participating though, as I'll probably feel miserable. I'm already starting to feel stuffed turkey at nearly 31 weeks.

This weekend is the only weekend we have nothing planned this month, which is good since my final project is due Sunday. I'm writing a proposal for a pretend high school to start a vocational pathway program to graduation in addition to the traditional college prep pathway. Similar to the way Germany runs their schools, only simplified as a beginning program. A lot of high schools are starting to head the way I am proposing already by adding pathways that emphasize certain careers (I know the high school I attended now offers programs like nursing, accounting, law enforcement, etc.) that guide you with the best classes, electives, and outside partner programs to take to prepare for the training for those careers.

We got a godparent proposal box to send to our desired godparents, with mugs, t-shirts, and a little note. The inside of the box lid says "Will you be my godparents?" and is signed from the baby with a heart. Or it's supposed to, anyway. It says "godfather" instead! We decided to leave it since it's for a gay couple instead of dealing with the hassle of returning and reordering the gift. Since the note had to be handwritten we had it delivered to us, but now we're having a heck of a time finding the time to get it relabeled and shipped to them.

Eva - sorry to hear about the TMJ - jaw clenching will definitely add to the problem. Hope the doctor has a quick solution for you and your stress level goes down.
It sounds like we both have lots of shade, so I'll be looking for those pictures.

Temps are in the 30s and with wind chill in the teens I'm skipping emoticon this morning. Not going into the credit union, but also not planning on working in the yard. May start some laundry and clean the inside of the car, but also may catch up on a little reading.

Kali: Hopefully the leveling will work and you can overseed in the fall. What kind of grass will you be planting?

When the new plants"settle in" I'll take a picture for you. They like shade and I have plenty of that.

I'm headed to the doctor this morning. My TMD (TMJ) is giving me fits. I've been up since 3 am. It started on Wednesday. At home self-care just ain't cutting it this time. My dentist is on vacation, so I'll see a doctor at my clinic. I suppose it's time to fess up that I've lost my night guard and with my anxiety being up (sad thing is it's not even my problems that's causing me to stress) I'm jaw clenching and tooth grinding in my sleep.

Eva - never heard of ice blue bog rosemary - it will be fun to hear about it. Your weather is just that much warmer than ours (the bomb cyclone looks like it will miss us - so just cold and not snow), so I love hearing about your gardening. Also, like the idea of a mini-trip - lots of memory possibilities.

Feline - glad to hear classes are winding up and work offers exercise classes. Sounds like a win-win.

Throwing in the emoticon (couldn't find a towel...) on overseeding this spring as the lawn leveling is a major task in itself. Also going to stop bagging the clippings in favor of using the mower to move our trailer. (Changing out the attachments is a job in itself.) Hopefully this weekend (if the ground is dry enough), we'll move a couple loads of lawn waste to the landfill for composting and fill the trailer with pulverized topsoil, so I can level the lawn in anticipation of fall overseeding. It's actually a better time to seed cool weather grass, so it will be a win-win!

Feline: I'm glad you and DH came to an understanding about nails and massages.

I figure that close to delivery you'll feel more like yoga than barre. My final week I just walked. A lot. Walking helps ease labor. So does yoga.

I am enjoying the party prep. I figured out I have to go in search of a drill bit for the quidditch hoops so I didn't do that yesterday. That's probably going to wait until the weekend. But I do have a list of items to put my printer to a workout. Today I'll be making signs, paper decorations and labels for different items. Some printed, some hand drawn.

I figure this is the last friend party for a while, probably until sweet 16 and maybe not then if she doesn't want one. She's already asked about a mini trip next year using the party budget. And I'm okay with that, but I'm going to "go out" with a bang.

DH and I talked and he's satisfied with my continuing the 2x massages while I am still pregnant and switching to every three weeks once I deliver. There must have been a misunderstanding on my part about the nails, because when I brought that up about wanting at least one more professional polish done for the baby shower he said "Well, yeah! You still need to get your nails done while you're pregnant! You can't do them yourself!" Which is true, I can't even see my feet anymore much less reach them emoticon

I am in the final week of my class so I will be working on the final project. I've decided to skip the readings this week - they're long and don't sound too particularly relevant. I already know what I want to write about so I may as well get to it and try to spend as little of my weekend on the homework as possible. Next weekend is my baby shower, and the weekend after that is the School of Rock play and the 5K I am walking. In between is doctors and more doctors. I am sure I am forgetting something, but it's a busy month.

My employer offers exercise classes, and since I got pregnant I've been taking yoga and barre. The summer session for those classes starts April 29 and runs to June 28. I am due June 16. I've been debating whether to sign up for the summer session, wondering if I'll be too pregnant to want to participate, and knowing I will need a sub for the end of the session right off the bat. I am thinking of doing just yoga. It's the easier one to find a sub for, and my coworker wants to try barre but we can't both be gone at the same time unless our boss okays it. If I don't take barre that's less hassle for everyone. Maybe I can do two sessions of yoga or something?

Eva: You are really going all out for that party! It sounds like it's going to be a blast emoticon

Kali: I'm not the only energizer bunny here! You sound incredibly busy yourself. I hope you get the yard leveled soon.

Yesterday I weeded the flowerbeds then after school and homework Brenna and I potted our ice blue bog rosemary. I've never heard of the stuff but I hope it does well. We also planted some lily bulbs and some mixed seeds in the flower bed. I transplanted a mini rose bush as well. This weekend we'll ask Jim to till the soil next to the fence and plant a shady area wildflower mix to attract pollinators.

I also made my Honeydukes labels, found and printed a Moaning Myrtle for Brenna's bathroom mirror and an Olivander's label for the wands that are part of the party favors. I'm going up to the neighbor's house to do hair at 11. I think I'm going to see how far I can get building Quidditch hoops.

emoticon I've missed so much!

Bella - your meditation experience sounds wonderful - glad you were able to 'connect'.

Feline - sounds like things are going well (I too am glad DH listened to you) and I love the crib.

Eva - you continue to amaze me. Energizer bunny extraordinaire! Glad you will share pictures.

I've been able to work in the yard a couple days, but have decided the bagged topsoil is not what we need to level out the holes. Too much non-soil and more expensive than pulverized soil from GE - even with delivery included. The problem is spreading - they store it indoors and by the time I can get it spread, it will rain...
First emoticon of April yesterday - figuring cost @ $10 which will go down with each additional swim. (I only made it once in March...) Yoga was cancelled as the aerobics room is being used as a polling place, but ZB massage this afternoon, followed by CASA presentation this evening @ Forum.

Feline: I get want your nails done before the shower. I hate to say it, but you deserve one last hoorah before all your "me time" becomes "we time."

Sign up on pampers website. They send coupons in the mail. The first newspaper of the month has the P&G insert. That's when your baby stuff will be. If you prefer digital, check Coupons.com. You print them at home. They tend to have a lot of baby stuff. I think a reoccurring shipment is a good idea. That didn't exist with Brenna unless you went through Diapers.com

I mentioned sensitivities because I have sensitive skin. Pampers broke me out (I'm an exception, not the rule).

I love the crib! We never used the bumper either.

I'll share pictures! This one is a crafty affair because the stuff you just order is EXPENSIVE!

I have a running list of things to make. I need to make a checklist so I don't miss an item. I think the Quidditch "field" will be the most time-consuming. And I have to pick a good day to spray paint. We have a couple of games in mind. I plan to break the kids up into houses and have like a house cup competition. We have a child invited with a tree nut allergy so I'm trying to decide what to use for house cup trophies.

I do plan on breastfeeding as long as he can tolerate the medications I take. In particular, my epilepsy medication can effect babies, so if he shows signs of not tolerating it well I will keep store brand in mind. I know I was lactose intolerant as an infant and my husband is severely lactose intolerant so that's one thing I'll be watching for. I registered for Pampers Swaddlers in a variety of sizes because I heard such good things about them, but I'll keep an eye out for sensitivities. I've never been good at clipping coupons, but I did shop online for this weeks groceries which helped because they had the coupons right on the items and a special section for 10/$10 and other deals so you could see right off what the best deals were. It really helped. I am thinking of doing "subscribe and save" on Amazon with diapers and wipes, and other recurring infant items.

It's been warming up here, it's supposed to be sunny and nearly 80 today. We can use the sunshine to help dry up the flooding! It also means we're seeing more of the outdoor cat we feed. He's coming earlier and staying later, enjoying the sunshine, playing with his toy, and begging for food.

Our crib set arrived so we got the crib set up. We're not using the bumper, the recommendation is to not use them because they're more dangerous than the crib without them. We also don't have the right equipment for the window valance so we'd have to get that and some curtains. I'll probably check Etsy to see if there are some woodsy curtains for sale, otherwise a nice yellow or green would work.

DH wants me to stop getting my nails done, which I am fine with. I can paint them at home. But I want to get them done professionally one more time for the baby shower since I currently have gel polish on and want them to remove it. I only get them done once per month, and lately have only been getting a mani not a mani/pedi, but I get that it's frivolous. He's fighting me on getting them done for the baby shower, though. I know lots of pictures will be taken and I want to look nice! I don't feel pretty right now and getting my nails done helps.

Quidditch pong sounds like so much fun! You'll have to let us know what all you make and how the party goes.

Feline: I know you plan to breastfeed, but for me that didn't work out. I was a low producer. I used store brand formula (it's made in the same facilities) So if the baby doesn't have sensitivities, that's a big saver. And Target's brand of diapers, again if there are no sensitivities. They fit like a Huggies. Brenna would leak out of a Pamper. Unless you plan to use cloth diapers and a diaper cover. Food wise you just have to find your way, clip coupons, and shop the ads. I remember the budgeting for a new baby. It took a while to get it all down. If you haven't registered for a baby shower yet, register for multiple sizes of diapers. That sounds crazy, but you'll be thankful for that and wipes later. Honestly, diapers and wipes are where your baby budget go until you get ready for potty training.

I don't mean to stress you out. I happen to be figuring a new budget at the moment because some bills went up and others went down. So your talking about budgeting made me remember my own shopping habits with a new human in the house.

I had a good weekend. Brenna, Mom, and I went shopping on Saturday. Yesterday I went to Lowes for a water hose and come home with 2 hoses, 2 plants to put in the ground, a bag of bulbs, and a house plant.

Today I clean house and hem Jim's uniform pants. The tomorrow I get to start crafting birthday party stuff. I'm making a quidditch pong game.

Eva: Thanks for the articles! We both eat breakfast and lunch at work, and he's got a cafeteria to eat at so we don't buy lunches for him. I got myself some crackers and cheese lunchables and yogurt for $1 each for my lunches this coming week (my "charcuterie boards", lol). For dinners we're doing:
Oven Fried Pork Chops (w/ steamed veggies)
Crockpot Stovetop Chicken (w/ steamed veggies)
Crockpot Lasagna Soup (w/ garlic bread)
Baked Chicken (w/ steamed veggies)
Spaghetti & "Meatballs" (w/ garlic bread)
Tuna Sandwiches

DH goes to a party on Wednesdays, so that night it's either eating out or scavenging for leftovers, so I only planned six nights.

DH was checking our budget and once baby arrives, after bills, we'll have $500/month for groceries and anything else we need to buy. We're going to have to start shopping at multiple stores to hit the best deals (a lot more shopping at Aldi) and really curtailing our spending. He wants me to quit getting my massages, but they've been such a lifesaver for me! My body aches have greatly reduced, my stress and anxiety is down, I stopped pulling muscles when I exercise, and it's just a nice little me time. I currently get them every two weeks, which generally works out to two a month. I might switch to every three weeks, though, which ought to work out to about one a month. That could help moneywise.

Bella: I'm happy to hear your meditation lead you to insight. I often say prayer is when you ask for something, but meditation is when you listen for the answers.

Feline: I'm happy DH listened to you. Not just heard you but listened and responded accordingly. That's huge.

I know you have some food allergies, red meat isn't it? If I can help with any substitutions let me know, I'll see if I can help.

I did rest yesterday. I watched my favorite Netflix food documentary, In Defense of Food. I love how he breaks down the ins and outs of what happened to the nutritional aspects of foods, like bread, to become "Edible food-like substances." He's not touting a diet plan of any kind. It's "Eat real food. Mostly plants. And not too much of it."

Eva: He even turned down his music to listen to me, he was very intent on me being heard. It was nice. He said his goal is to have the house cleaned by the end of this month, so even earlier than my goal! And he hadn't realized the crib converted to a full bed so he's going to get rid of the small TV stand he has in the basement and turn the bed (which has drawers all along the bottom on both sides) into a large TV stand/storage center for his "man cave". He said he'll also keep the desk down there until baby is old enough to need it and we convert the crib into a bed and move it.

My sodium content has definitely increased lately. We've been eating more fast food for dinner again, I'm so tired I'm in bed around 7:00 which doesn't give us much time for dinner when we get home around 5:30. DH hasn't been feeling well so he's not up to cooking and it's just been easier to swing by somewhere and pick something up. DH has asked if we can start ordering groceries online again, though, so he can just stop and pick them up after he leaves work so once we figure out our menu planning and start doing that things should go back to normal. I'm going to browse the Spark recipes for some easy, 4 or 5 ingredient recipes we can just throw together. Any suggestions?

Good Morning all: I'm sorry I haven't taken the time to post more often on this team. I'm currently in a Biggest Loser Spring Challenge and much of my Spark time goes to that team. I loved reading through this thread, though! Sounds like everyone is getting out and working with nature and enjoying more springlike activities. I'm hoping to get some planting done this weekend and I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty. Gardening is definitely a spiritual experience for me since it directly/literally connects me to Earth.

I did a particular short meditation last week that only lasted 10 minutes. I had something different happen when I was meditating. It's too personal to get into but I feel like my soul was directly speaking to God and was upset about something I experienced during this lifetime. My parents were there and I got to hug them and, while that was wonderful, I was letting God know I was upset about this particular situation that was brought up. The vision didn't last long and was maybe a minute or 2 before the meditation ended. I've never had anything like that happen to me before (hope I'm not coming across as crazy) but it definitely happened and has given me something to reflect on.

I'm thankful I have an outlet to talk about this in. Have a beautiful day, Bella

Feline: How high is your sodium consumption? From what you describe eating, probably not that high, but I had to ask. It's effects are very obvious for pregnant ladies. My sister in law swelled terribly with her second child. They took her off work for the last 8 weeks of her pregnancy.

I love doctors sending mixed messages. emoticon

How did your talk with DH go?

I finished the laundry room and took stock of party supplies. Today I'm sitting on my butt for a well-deserved rest. This momma is tired.

Eva: If I remember to, I will talk to him tonight on the way home. I've been a space cadet lately - I even had to reschedule an appointment because I forgot about it.

I am trending up again. My OB said it's probably swelling, even my Oncologist noticed the swelling, but that with how quickly I am gaining we need to keep an eye out for preeclampsia symptoms. Of course, after she finished the long talk on her concern about my increasing weight she then told me all about how Dunkin Donuts has Peeps stuff now. Contradicting messages, much? LOL

I am having a pretty good Wednesday. Not too horribly busy at work, and jamming through my assigned readings for school on my lunch break. We have a test this week and our final project next week. Then I take my final class before comps and the dissertation series - which involves statistics, blech.

Feline: I hope DH listens to your concerns. For many time for baby isn't a real thing. They know a new human is arriving of course but they don't "nest" because until the baby actually arrives they have time and they are not overly concerned with a future event. Unlike women. We fuss over all future events. I hate to say it, but it's hard wiring.

I hope you find storage for the furniture.

Kali: Thank you about my Bug. She's growing so fast! She's 4'11". emoticon

I agree people forget that beauty comes in a variety of ways. I thought it an interesting facet of the family's personality that they did not want to wait for their art to arrive. I kinda liked the small pieces. It made me think of hanging art in my own home. I only have 2 walls that will accommodate a huge piece without hiding it in the hallway.

I hope your feeling better. Food poisoning is no joke. Good luck with the lawn leveling!

Today I clean the laundry room and then I'm done with spring cleaning! Tomorrow I get to sit in the closet floor and take stock of birthday party supplies. That will be a nice change of pace from swinging on the ladder.

Happy April!

Eva - it always amazes me when folks complain... Beauty comes in all sizes and speaking of beauty, Bug looks wonderful.
Your cleaning sounds so fresh. Do you have somewhere that cleans your area rugs? I've been hoping to get mine clean as well.

Feline - new carpets! You'll love it. Hope you can find a use for the furniture or that it can be stored for future use.

Bout with food poisoning lasted 5 days and 3 lbs (which appear to be gone forever - if such a thing is possible...) Concentrating on helping with the Credit Union so lawn leveling and reseeding will not start until next week. @ least a more level surface will be available to mow.

Eva: The carpet guys showed up minutes after he got home, much much earlier than they said they'd be there, so he got nothing done. I guess after they left he didn't see a point to cleaning. He had the day off work for it, so my guess is he played video games...again. I mean, I get it, he wants to get as much gaming time in as possible before baby arrives and demands attention. But I'm nearly 30 weeks! We're running out of time to get the house ready! I want to get the house cleaned up and set up by the middle of next month, then hire a maid service to do a deep clean so it is nice and sparkling when baby arrives and I don't have to worry about anything but recovery and spot maintenance during my time off.

It turns out the in-laws are giving us ALL the furniture from DHs old room, including the ginormous desk and his bed, so I don't know what we will do with those. There's not enough room in the nursery for the desk until the crib is converted to a bed - and there's not much use for it until baby is older, anyway. DH wants to store them in the shed out back, but I think he is vastly overestimating the size of the shed. I am not convinced we will need the bed, either, as the crib converts to a full bed, which is what his bed is. We chose that crib because it was convertible!

Sounds like you are super busy! Remember to take time for yourself and not to overdo it, especially if your asthma is acting up with the weather changes.

Feline: Maybe he made some progress. Cleaning isn't a fun job, but it can be very satisfying. I hope you get your carpet ordered and installed before the end of the month.

I have asthma, that's getting worse, so we are working our way to a carpet free home. I'll have big rugs that can be removed and cleaned. It has less to do with dust and cat hair than they hold onto pollen.

I finished with the spring cleaning in the kitchen, then I moved to the family room. Both are done. Today I'm headed to the bedrooms. Tomorrow I'll tackle the laundry room. That laundry room will take as long as the bedrooms or longer. Then if I'm lucky I get a day of rest. Lawd knows I need one.

Eva: He did, and it looks very nice. It is cat approved, they missed having something to walk between the couch sections on, and sit and stare at us from a distance.

We didn't get any cleaning done, though. I did homework on Saturday and DH said he just wasn't motivated to clean so he played video games all day. On Sunday we had our last bell choir performance, then went carpet shopping with the in-laws. I needed a nap after that and DH still wasn't motivated to clean so he played video games again. Now he's in a rush to get it all done today while I am at work, and he's only got half a day to do it because we were at the oncologist until 9:45 so he wouldn't have gotten home until 10:15-10:30 after dropping me at work. They're estimating our new carpets should be completely installed by the end of April if we get things ordered by Wednesday.

Welcome to April!

Feline: Did DH get your ottoman together?

We went to the Frist museum and Cheekwood gardens on Friday. I'll post a blog with a few more pictures later, but the Frist doesn't allow photography inside.

This is not the museum we went to but it does have a video with pieces that we saw. There were hundreds of smaller paintings. So much so that people complained there were no large works to study. But it was a family art collection and they bought items they could just take with them. There wasn't much there above the size of an 8X10 picture.
