I'm not really sure what "interval training" is persay (the art of two different workouts??) so I guess I can't really give an accurate opinion. If it is incorporating cardio and strength then YES, it's the only way to go.

I also hyper your link for you..I hope you don't mind.

I used to just do steady state cardio when I was a member of the gym.

Since I quit the gym just over a year ago (more info on my Sparkpage) and began working out at home, I've come to absolutely love interval training!

My first foray into it was through JM and her workouts - and it was a real wake up call for me!

I always considered myself quite fit having been a gym-attendee for about 12 years, but when I started interval workouts - well, I never thought I'd live to tell the tale!

Now, over a year on, since I've incorporated interval training into my workout routine, I've really increased my stamina and fitness no end - and my strength training has also taken on a whole new lease of life.

So all in all, I think interval training is the way to go!

Of course, there is always a place for steady state cardio, for example if you're training for a race which of course requires endurance and the ability to keep going for a long time. I still do go running outside, and run for about 45 minutes at a time. When I was at the gym, I used the treadmill and ran for an hour at a time.

So I guess I make the best of both forms of training - but out of the two, interval training wins hands down for me in terms of results and also the fun factor. Afterall, a workout should be hard work but also fun and enjoyable, right?

I love interval training. Every time I do it, I feel like I get so much more out of the workout. I've of course done it in JM's dvds, but I've been doing a weekly Tabata class at the gym that incorporates this. Its exhausting and awesome. :) Its a 45 min class but I'm left just wiped out!

Hi all! I thought the blog above about interval training was really interesting! There are so many benefits! I know JM also incorporates intervals in her DVDs

Do you use intervals when exercising? What are your thoughts?
