I feel your pain Kim!!!! Food, food and food!!! Not only do we have a bazillion things to do to get out of school for the summer - but we have to EAT too!!!! It sometimes feels like "eat" is an item on the TO DO list! I struggle with all the party/celebration food fests too --- takes more thinking and planning on our part and with everything else that needs our attention, it's hard some times --- but we CAN do this --- staying as focused and on target! At my meeting this morning our leader kept saying "there's no saying that I'm trying --- we must say that we are DOING" Trying implies that we hoping to make the best or it where doing says we WILL!! I like that!

Happy Saturday to all ---

Jane

I'll admit to overeating yesterday. It seemed like there was food at work, food at the party, food everywhere! Back at it today.

Isn't it funny how no matter what the event -- from birth to retirement --- there's always a food issue we have to think about!!!! I say "funny" --- but actually it's not at all funny! I'm just thankful for the invention of those standard items we have these days like those veggie trays, fruit kabobs, etc. ---- at least we can count on those items at most any event! and water bottles!!! those are a popular trendy party staple as well!

Have a healthy weekend!

I still have 4 days with kids! My room is mostly packed though and I have 2 retirement parties after school. I've kept the food intake very low today so I can nibble a little tonight. Weigh in is right around the corner! Yes on the water.

I think it's Thirsty Thursday ----- are you drinking your water?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm at school trying to get my classroom put away for the summer --- I keep holding off drinking b/c I don't want to run to the potty constantly!!!! but I must say that I do miss it!

I've watched others in meetings who needed to eat more - and they did - and they lost! Check to see if your leader has any other suggestions too --- sometimes it's the small adjustments that can make a huge difference!

The night shift is tough. My daughter did that for several years.
I eat them if I'm hungry. Look at the calories you eat and the calories you burn. You may not be eating enough. Bump it up by 100 for a week and see what happens. I remember being on WW one time and I wasn't eating enough. When I ate more the following week I lost quite a bit.

Good morning.
Life Time member here, getting back on track. I'm on the edge of a slippery slope and putting on the traction! LOL
I'm VERY active. So, here is my question. I earn about 8-12 activity points in a day. Should I be "trading in" some of those points for food? I want the scale to go down, but I also know I need to be eating enough. What do you all do with your activity points? It scares me to "eat" those points.

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial weekend. I did three night shifts at the hospital and now my sleeping schedule is off. emoticon One more night shift to go. I stayed on track with food for most of the weekend which was not too hard to do since I was at the hospital and not at parties or get togethers. Haven't exercised since Friday though.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Happy and Healthy Tuesday to all! Hope everyone is on track, on program, on target ---- well ---- just ON!!!!

We had a great weekend --- beautiful weather and got things done. I play in our community band and we performed at a Memorial Day service at one of the cemeteries. It was so well organized and just what every Memorial Day should be --- they had all branches of the military involved, did a fly over with 2 old planes, a dove release, and an excellent speaker -- all very nice. And I stayed OP!

Here's to a great week ---- we GOT this!

I'm sure finding the age thing affecting things. It's more that I've lost flexibility and I'm not sleeping as well. The weight still comes off ok if I do the right things.

Good Morning! I just signed up again for WW online last Monday. It's been a pretty on point week for me, but unfortunately, the scale hasn't budged. I know I can't get discouraged by that. This time I'm losing weight for my health - I need to get the blood pressure down, chlorestal (spelling?), etc. When you are young, you only worry about the number on the scale, but when middle-age creeps in, there are a whole bunch more numbers to worry about! Have a great weekend!! - Jane

I did end up losing .8. Not a lot, but it's better than nothing. I haven't been sleeping great due to stress at school and menopause. I'm sure that affects the weight. I'm hoping to get some things done this weekend.

I should see a loss tomorrow but who knows. The scale seems to fluctuate more than it did when I was younger. The stress of the end of the year at school probably doesn't help.

Sounds like we all need to keep our Super shirts on and stay strong! I have to WI on Saturday, but have a doc appt. tomorrow --- it's been 4 months since I was there, so he'll be pleased with me for sure! It's the weekly WI that's tougher to impress them!!!!! But I'm hanging tough and hope to hit that scale with a big POW!!!!

Time to start thinking about the weekend --- I really have to pre-plan in order to get through them --- I keep telling myself it's the weekend, not the WEAKend!!!

Happy Thursday evening --

Hello everyone,
Been getting through the days, staying within points. Haven't weighed myself. I did start my cycle yesterday so hopefully all the water retention will be gone by my next weigh in. I find myself thinking about lots of sugary sweet cravings but try to keep my eye on the prize. I know that I can have some treats as long as I stay within my points, but when I look up how many points a slice of banana cream pie is, or cream cheese pie, OMG!!! I am going to have to figure out healthier ways to have these treats.
Have a good night!

It tends to be salt and/or the amount of water I'm drinking --- those two are my biggest friends/enemies!!!! When I was on a plateau, I found success when I started using my tracker to it's fullest ----- being sure I was checking every single box and watching those Healthy Guidelines -- made a difference for me. Also, many seem to see a difference when they watch the carbs, up the protein, and go heavier on veggies than fruit.

It could be water. I know if I eat a salty or carb heavy meal the night before weigh in the scale is always up. Could be time to change up your exercise program if you've been doing the same thing for 12 weeks or so.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I had a nice and busy weekend with my family.
Anyhow, I weighed myself today and found that I am the same weight as last Monday. I came in under my total points--- I had like 20 activity points leftover, so I am not sure what it could be. Maybe it's because I am retaining water- It's about to be that time of the month for me.
Any ideas/thoughts?
Thanks! Have a good one!

It was a sunny Sunday here! So nice to have a bright sunny day -- a little bit on the chilly side, but just beautiful!

I wore a pair of new pants to church today --- they actually fit me well and 3 people told me I looked nice and wondered if I had lost weight! I've been taking in the seams of my old ones and they were a bit baggy - so I guess the more fitted look made it more obvious that there was less of me!!! woohoo for that!

I've been seeing a lot of posts on Pinterest of the Mason jar salads --- I'm thinking this may be an upcoming project for me ---- they are so pretty and everyone says they're great --- anyone tried them????

Have a great OP week!

I just thought of another bit of info to share ---- my 88 year old Dad told Mom a couple of weeks ago that he really would like to have a piece of chocolate cake --- he never eats the icing from a cake, so I thought the 321 cake would be perfect for him! Made a bag of it, typed up the directions in a large font (!!) and took it to him ---- we made one to practice on and he was thrilled! He doesn't need to worry about his weight --- but it's still so good and so easy -- and they usually have ice cream and Cool Whip in the freezer -- so it works for him and her -- she can dress it up - he can have it straight!!! LOL!!!! whoever came up with this little recipe is a winner!

Vanilla 3-2-1 Cake

1 box angel food cake mix 1 box vanilla cake mix

Combine ingredients and store in an airtight container. When ready to make your cake, place 3 tbsp of the mixture into a microwave-safe mug or bowl. Add 2 tbsp of water to the mixture and stir thoroughly until well-combined. Heat in microwave for 1 minute, or until cake is cooked throughout.

Total Fat: 0g
Carbohydrates: 18g
Fiber: 0g
Protein: 1g

This can be made with any flavor of cake mix --- I keep mine in a large zip lock baggy --- right now I have a Devil's Food mix with the Angel Food -- love to top it with some Cool Whip and a drizzle of the Light Hersheys syrup!!!!

Hey everyone, hope you had a wonderful week and Mother's Day. I got through the week and stayed within my points. I lost weight, so I was happy about that! I did 3 night shifts at the hospital for school last week and luckily I only have one this week. Doing the night shift really screws things up for me. I am trying to be positive though.

Love reading about what everyone does in life! No matter what our job is or isn't ---- we all seem to agree that there are food challenges involved ---- I guess we are a food driven society and most tend to "live to eat" rather than "eat to live" ---- aren't we glad that we're changing our thinking --- although it may be slow for some of us --- but we're getting there! woohoo for our progress!!!! y'all know that WE ROCK!!!!!!

Enjoy your SATURDAY!

Only half a pound for me this week. :(
I try not to weigh during the week but I did yesterday and I had lost 1.5 pounds, but today my official weigh in day it's only half a pound. I think it's from the frozen Lean Cuisine pizza I had last night. But it was late when I got home and I was in no mood for chopping vegetables and fixing a big meal so I threw it in the microwave. It was really really good but probably not the best thing to have the night before weigh in. Oh Well! Live and learn. This week I'm going to try counting points and hope I do okay. I avoided all the candy at work the last two weeks that everyone was munching on! So that's something to cheer about!

Congratulations Stephanie on your upcoming graduation! That's so exciting. I know it's tough right now but just keep repeating "It won't always be like this" I say that a lot.

I work for the local school system here as a secretary in a department that supports the school libraries (we have over 120 schools in our system, it's one of the biggest) we also provide some services for teachers. We are 12 month employees with not much to do during the summer so it's pretty boring. During the last 2 summers and this upcoming summer we work 4- 10 hour days with Fridays off. My hours this summer are from 7am-5pm. We eat lunch at our desk while we work so that we can leave 30 mins. earlier. We all hate it with a passion. By the time Friday rolls around I'm too tired to enjoy a three day weekend. So not looking forward to this. School gets out here in two weeks.

Have a lot going on today so need to get moving.
Have a wonderful weekend and Mother's Day everyone!

Shirley

I won't have days many days off this summer since I'm teaching summer school. I'm bringing piles home to work on since we can't get in our building all summer. I'm ready to at least be down to 1/2 days in the summer.

WOW Stephanie!!!! so exciting to read about your upcoming graduation!!!! that is just awesome --- but it's never easy getting all the last minute "stuff" done --- but hang tough - you are SO close and there's light at the end of the tunnel!!!! enjoy your last few weeks -- you GOT this!!!!

and Kim ---- isn't it the truth about getting the end of the school year DONE!!!! We had staff meeting yesterday and already the "TO DO" list is getting longer and longer!!! I always say I feel like we're trying to break outta jail or something --- it's like nearly impossible to get OUT!!!! I have our big spring program next week and then hopefully, it will be a breeze -- we can actually sing for fun and do a little celebrating of the upcoming summer!!! and then there's always at least a handful of students who become a "handful" b/c they get so excited and distracted --- sorta like the month of December when we're getting anxious for Christmas!! But this time - we will get a much longer break!!! woohoo!!!!

I love the Firsty Friday ---- tired or not, that's just too cute!!! Keep thinking ladies ---- we have Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get yet --- every day is water day!!!! hurray!!

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday was a really rough day for me. I am getting ready to graduate as an RN June 12th and there is a lot of pressure and stress right now. In addition, I have to do my clinical hours during night shift (7pm-7am) and I do not like it all. But, the good news is that I got through the day and ate within my points. I am a big sweets person and bought skinny cow ice cream cones and found that one was really satisfying for only 4 points! That is huge for me because typically we would buy a tub of ice cream and I would eat a big bowl (at least two servings) at one sitting. I like that skinny cow helps me with portion control.
Have a great day!

All I can think of is "Firsty Friday" and that's because I haven't slept well the last 3 nights.Too much to get done before school gets out so I'm feeling a little stressed. Some of my kids say their "th" sound that way.

Welcome to the team Purplebear! I just started on this team too and they are fantastic in the way of support. I'm loving this team!

I am finishing up my second week of Simple Start. I lost 5.5 pounds the first week and today, although it isn't my official weigh in day I was down another 1.5 pounds. So I'm happy. I have done WW before and knew I would probably lose a lot the first week and then lose a pound or so a week after that. My concern is on Simple Start I was not eating near my points and now this week when I start doing the regular points I'm worried that I will gain. Does anyone know if you gain when you start eating and counting and eating in the prescribed points range? I don't want to gain of course.

I am working hard at getting my 8 glasses of water in everyday. I like water but I wasn't drinking anywhere near 8 glasses a day. Now I'm running to the bathroom all the time. I'm thinking hard of a word for Friday and nothing comes to mind except fantastic or fabulous and that's just because it's Friday and I'm ready for the weekend!

Need to run.

Soooooo ............ since we're all drinking our water on Water Wednesday, we should be happy to do it again on Thirsty Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have anything to say about Friday ------- anyone????? The only word that comes to mind might be misleading --- we could say Flush Friday --- meaning "flush" the system by drinking water -- but we may be suggesting that b/c we DRINK so much water, we'll need to flush!!!! I guess either way works!!!! But I'd like to see what you "drinkers" come up with!!!!!!
