Oh dear Kathryn.....It is full of salt!!!!!

Tina.....so true....they have done a great job they just haven't lined the bench back up with a point to have it all the way it was....

Alison....same here...to keep the app you pay otherwise go weighin each month and pay if you are over your goal....

Jacquie.....we will come up with something here if that happens.....Like you it is the "personal interaction" that helps us.....we can always pick a cafe that everyone can get to and have a meeting there and just do the weigh in online.....

Happy Saturday!

So like you Embi, I don't get here as often as I'd like and then when I do there is so much going on that I want to comment on! I usually end up just jumping in too, but on a Saturday, when I have a little more time, I can do more... Please be safe at work, bless all the essential workers.

Ali, the one thing I'll say abut the online program is that mentally you have to be in that zone where you are self-motivated. But one thing I've found in the last months is that this group helps give you the motivation that meetings used to give me.

Lyn, nice that you have new cupboards, and you didn't have to suffer through the installation!

Tawney, I get reflux at night when I'm not eating well, also. I'm glad you figured out Zoom, I have to say I have loved Zoom meetings (not WW, have never done one of those, but even work meetings and we talk to my mom in the nursing home via Zoom), it has filled a void.
Good for you and your hubby for trying the "dating" think...in our house I think we've survived all this togetherness by being on separate floors most of the time, lol.

Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear they've dropped good WW instructors, they are the lifeblood of the program. I'm impressed with your "Three Dog Walk!"

Nell, what an interesting story about the start of WW, really that mission has continued to this day. I might look for that book.

Rubi and Tawney, congratulations on being at or close to your goal!

Kathryn, good job on your weight loss!

I have been doing okay. I actually went to the office both Thursday and Friday this week and found it so much easier to eat well and not snack. Not that I"m surprised at that, but it felt so good to easily stay within my points those days. Today I was in the mood for a different kind of exercise, so I found a couple of short "on demand" videos. I didn't really enjoy either one of them, but they did get me moving, and that is of course the most important thing.

I hope everyone has a great rest of their weekend!

It's not a diet, it's not exercise, it's a way of life. Period.

Yes Lynn I get to keep the app for now. I don't know what will happen once things open up again but I will take what i can get.
Yesterday we had our 3rd Covid date night. We had Pizza and Caesar salad, which I picked up from one of our local restaurants. I added wine and dessert. After 40+ years of marriage you would think we would know how to communicate but that is something we are still working on. it is coming along. I am also happy with how i handled food yesterday. I kept within points using all my weeklies.
It is a beautiful day here. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

I hope they donít eliminate the free lifetime membership! I know you have to reach your goal and maintain it for six weeks, and continue to weigh in monthly and be within 2 pounds of goalÖ I am really working towards that. Free lifetime after goal maintenance is not an option on the Internet only program here in the US, itís only an option if you are paying for meetings.

Jacquie, like you my weight was up this week (2,4 pounds, or approximately one kilo). But I did weigh in and track everything, and I went to the zoom meeting. It was a different meeting and I did not like the leader as well as the others. She was substituting for a regular leader that was off due to surgery, so I will give her some slack. She just wasnít as warm and welcoming or supportive as they usually are. The discussion topic was creating new healthy habits. They emphasize starting small, tracking each achievement, and rewarding yourself with non-food rewards on a regular basis.

Embi I would be very nervous to be doing your very essential job. I am glad you have all of the protective gear, it is so important. We have been in phase 1 for about 10 days now, but I have not gone to any restaurants or bars, which are now open with a reduced number of tables and extra cleaning. I am waiting to see if thereís another surge.

Kathryn stickers For your progress are a great idea.
Tawney congratulations on reaching goal. Woo hoo! Thatís amazing.,

I am grateful that my computer is back. It is so frustrating when it crashes! Apparently a big Microsoft update conflicted with my antivirus program and crashed the whole system.

I went online to watch Mindy Goodman, WW USA chair, discuss the layoffs and changes ahead. She said the pandemic accelerated a new direction for WW, where they are moving to more online services. She said that not all branches will reopen after the pandemic. I certainly hope that my branch will remain open! We have a large group of participants (But Iím not sure how many dropped out during the pandemic). I was very upset to read some of the comments posted on her CNBC interview. When did it ever become OK to publicly post racist or sexist comment? And the website did not allow me to post an alert to the website manager about offensive content ....

I called in yesterday. When I bought the app I was over goal. I am now at goal. I am a Lifetime member. The person I talked to yesterday said that she would set it up to give me free service from June 16 to July 15th (I had paid until June 15). Once Covid is over I will have to weigh in monthly at a studio and stay at goal ( up to 2 pounds over) and it will then be free.

Lifetime isn't free anymore? It used to be free as long as you went to weigh in once a month and weren't more than 3 pounds above or below your goal. I heard of a meeting where they had to disband because most of the people there were lifetime and not paying.

Question: Now that my goal weight is back in sight (8 more pounds), I have been trying to figure out what happens. I find Lifetime membership info is elusive. Itís been a very long time. I presume I no longer have to pay then. And donít have to go through maintenance weeks again. Doing virtual weigh ins. Guess I should call WW to clarify but does anyone know?

If it doesnít challenge you, it wonít change you!

Hello to Everybody! I seem to be getting farther and farther behind with all the posts! I try to log on and catch up, and get a little ways, and get called away. So, because I miss chatting with all of you, I'm just going to jump in. I have been tracking, not weighing, but feeling pretty good about how my clothes are fitting. I haven't figured out the online meetings yet, but keep on putting it in my planner. Our county is still in phase 1 of the lock down. Even if we go to phase 2, I'm not too anxious to get out there. Luckily I'm still working throughout the entire thing, so I don't have to worry about work. It's hard as we deal with families who have had a death due to COVID, so they have been exposed, we are in their homes, etc, so I really like to stay far away from everybody else if possible. I know we have been exposed even though we all take extreme caution and wear the appropriate PPE. It's just safer for everybody.

Beautiful sunny day here today. It has been nice all week. Headed for rain this weekend, but the plants need a drink so that will be good. Nice chatting...catch up soon!

Hello from Seattle(ish)! I'm Embi!

I got on the scale today and saw I had lost the 3 pounds I put in with a cheat day. I will no longer do them. I knew that scale was wrong because I could fit in smaller clothes. I put on an outfit from my too small summer clothes, my hubby asked if I was holding my tummy in. I said no and showed him. The scale may not say what i like but that NSV was worth a million bucks.

That was a long time ago!
I remember the very restrictive diet. Looking back I think all that restriction lead to bingeing.

If you want to start your own support group, why would you call WW? Of course they'll say no, then they'll know someone is trying to usurp their trademarked property. You can do it on your own

Jean Nidetch wrote a book nearly 50 years ago, The Story of Weight Watchers. You can see how casually it all started. Jean used a diet she'd gotten from a weight clinic at a hospital, the old Norman Jolliffe diet, which was free property, no one copyrighted a diet plan back then. (It's a really restrictive plan, intended for heart health circa 1960, not weight loss.) She couldn't follow it on her own so she asked a few friends to join her in her living room. It's an interesting read from a time when a woman needed her husband to sign a lease when she started her own business. She never intended to start a business, she started out looking for help for herself, and saw how many people needed that same help. And she was able to keep the weight off for the rest of her life.

Tawney it is always an unpleasant surprise for me also when I give into cravings and binge. Like you, over eating unhealthy food triggers my acid reflux. I have worked very hard at changing unhealthy habits like binging on dessert. So I am just blindsided when I give in and lapse. Congratulations on getting back on track. And I am glad you had a good visit with your friend.

Jackie, if the WW meetings here stop working for me, or if they close my cityís branch after the pandemic, I will probably try to get together an informal group of friends. Iím not going to call WW; it will be a get together of several of us that are working on losing weight and getting healthier. We can discuss what went well during the week, what was challenging, and a rotating general discussion topic. Of my friends that I think would participate, one is doing NOOM, one is doing the dash diet, one is Mediterranean diet, and two of us are in WW. Hopefully we could get even more people to participate. BTW, I hope you had fun with the three dogs. And that they all got along and play together well.

I really struggled for two days. I is quite shocking how after all these years of working to change habits and improve that I can slip back into old binge patterns. Being older now I end up with acid re flux when bingeing. You would think that would be enough to dissuade me but for two days it didn't. At bedtime I take ant-acids and sleep on two pillows so I am not flat. I hope I will be back down in weight by Friday but if I am not I have only myself to blame.
I enjoyed a visit from my friend for a couple of days. We were able to walk and also get out kayaking. We went down the lake. We pretty much floated all the way back because the wind came up so it wasn't too tiring.
Today I am taking the dog in for his yearly shave. He loves going to the vet so it should not be too traumatic.

Jacquie, Lyn and Nell, I agree with you about the importance of customer service. And like you, I want a WW that is focused on the health of its members, not corporate profits. I overall I am pleased with the program. I may switch to online only like Tina after I see what happens here in my city after reopening from pandemic closure. I know I will have a different WW leader, but that was not due to the downsizing; she got another better paying job, full-time with benefits. For my zoom meetings, it appears that our merged zoom meeting groups will have two fewer options for Weekly meetings. But there are still 15 meetings offered weekly, including the one that I have been attending.

Kathryn , it is very hard to exercise when it is so hot. I talked to my brother in Sacramento yesterday, he was also really feeling the heat. Kudos for you for going out and walking anyway! When itís that hot, I walk in place in front of the television set with the air conditioning on. Iím very glad your DH liked the potato without butter on it. I usually put fat free Greek yogurt on mine, and pretend that it is sour cream.

Jane, I enjoyed the quote. I am another one who is trying to overcome emotional eating. It is a constant temptation when times are stressful or when I am bored. But I am making progress and doing better. I think it will be a lifetime battle for me. I hope your cat is adjusting to his new normal, and enjoying his own space.

Lyn, Congratulations on turning things around. We all just have to take this one day at a time!

Nell, I am very glad you have your Housecleaners back. Like you, I have been without my cleaners assistance for over eight weeks. I have not asked her to return yet. I miss her services, but I am nervous about the virus exposure. The last time she came was before the governor ordered businesses to close (the virus was already here). And I got very nervous because she sneezed in my house. She told me it was allergies and I believed her; but I still went around and wiped off every surface with Clorox after she left.

Tina, I have definitely considered an online only membership. Normally Iím glad that I have meetings. Even in this pandemic when the meetings are on zoom, they are a lifeline to me. I live alone and I appreciate the support of other WW members who are going through the same struggles. I will have to see what happens to my local meetings after all of the changes are in place.

The weather has gotten warmer here; in the mid 60s to mid 70s ( 18 - 24 C).. My friend Linda and I drove up to our favorite mountain lake to go kayaking today, we were dismayed to discover how much snow was still up in the mountains. Oh well, I will go for a walk later this evening. I got my grocery shopping done, which as always was a big adventure. The limited availability of some items means I will be trying new recipes from what I was able to get.

Had a good start to the day, 60 minutes on the peddler and 30 minute walk. It was hot out 84¬į at 10:00 and going to be 103¬į. I went for my walk at 10:00 was only out an hour but came in soaking wet. I also started my day off with a good bowl of oatmeal with blueberries. I am planning to have a salad for lunch. For dinner I am having left over BBQ chicken with a plain baked potato and green beans and onions.

I gave hubby his backed potato with out butter and he liked it. Did not seem to notice I had not put butter on it. Lol

Good Afternoon!

I haven't been attending WW meetings for quite a while, I've been an online only member. I did find that worked for me last fall into winter, I was doing well. And I actually continued to eat very mindfully even after I had my hip surgery and wasn't tracking everything. I have been treading water fairly well, which I'd rather be losing but at least I wasn't gaining. But as the stay at home time has dragged on, I find myself eating more and more, both out of hunger and emotional eating. So honestly right now I don't really know what to do. I start each day well, and I have been trying to get time on the exercise bike in which always makes me feel better, but as the day wears on I seem to lose my ambition to stay the course. I know a lot of it is boredom in addition to the emotional aspect of seeing so many people getting sick and dying. I know of a mother and son who passed from the virus last week, he was 53 years old and had a teenage daughter and a wife, it's just so tragic and scary. And here in the US, we just seem to be leaderless. I don't want to make this a political discussion, but we are just not used to being so inept.

Anyway, Lyn, good for you on getting to day 4. And Nell, you're right about corporations worrying more about the bottom line than their customers. I do think that if they make the product one that people aren't enthused by, they will lose customers, and then get back to being more customer-centric. And good for your son and his business. And I'm oh so jealous of that housecleaning! Jane, thank you for sharing that, there is so much truth in it.

Better get back to work. Have a great day!

WW is a publicly traded company with a board of directors that answers to shareholders who demand a return on their investment. When WW was private, owned and run by the Nidetches and the Lipperts, they could run it for the benefit of members. Then they sold it to Heinz, it hasn't been the same since. My son owns a pub, he is always being approached by people who want to give him money in return for a partnership. He always says no, he wants to be the only one whose opinion counts. He needs to make money, of course, but he is laser focused on his customers, the ones who provide that profit. He didn't even want me to partner with him, he says I have way too many opinions. I lent him money, he is paying me back, but he didn't want a partner, let alone a board of directors.

I have cleaners coming this morning, yay! I went 8 weeks of doing my own cleaning again, I'm glad to be able to have it done, the whole house in an hour and a half.

Here's the article that I mentioned below. Please excuse the typos or errors.
******

Hey, listen to your emotionsÖ

Bitterness shows you where you need to heal, where youíre still holding judgments on others and yourself.

Resentment shows you where youíre living in the past and not allowing the present to be as it is.

Discomfort shows you that you need to pay attention right now to what is happening, because youíre being given the opportunity to change, to do something different than you typically do it.

Anger shows you what youíre passionate about, where your boundaries are, and what you believe needs to change about the world.

Disappointment shows you that you tried for something, that you did not give in to apathy, that you still care.

Guilt shows you that youíre still living life in other peopleís expectations of what you should do.

Shame shows you that you are internalizing other peopleís beliefs about who you should be (or who you are) and that you need to reconnect with yourself.

Anxiety shows you that you need to wake up, right now, and that you need to be present, that youíre stuck in the past and living in fear of the future.

Sadness shows you the depth of your feeling, the depth of your care for others and this world.

Good morning all. I love waking up in the morning and seeing on the app a roll over into the weeklies.

I am planning my meals each morning and sticking to it. I need to do this for me and I will.

I am very much an emotional compulsive overeater. When I want something like a cookie I often do stop and ask myself what am I feeling. Usually nothing comes to mind so I eat the cookie. Last night I really wanted chocolate, sweet and I didn't know what I was feeling so I made my decadent mug cake.

I read this on the Facebook and I will want to really study it, but upon first skim it looks really good:

I can't copy and paste it in the format that it is in. When I print it (the printer is in Rudy's room) and I will retype it

I think if I had realized that Rudy's nibbles and scratches were not just kitten behavior I would have tried to return him. I don't know how much time I would have had before it was too late for that.

I too, have seen that quote Lynn. I don't know if I'm really ready for Christmas, but I do wonder what the summer is going to be like, we are supposed to rent a place at the beach with my sister and her family at the beginning of August, and I have no idea if that is going to happen. My grandmother, who in my minds eye was heavy when I was a child, lost a lot of weight by using smaller plates.

Jacquie, I'm glad you've found your reset button. Funny, I felt like when they sent us to work from home in mid-March that it would be a reset, and it felt like that for the first month or so, but now I am just weary. And my eating reset button is nowhere in sight, I'm afraid.

Jane, good luck with the cat situation. About a year ago we rescued a lovely plothound from North Carolina. She was about a year and a half old and was a gorgeous creature. But she was crazy. We were prisoners in our own home. After 6 weeks we said "uncle" and had to return her, it really was her or us. She wasn't aggressive but she never, ever stopped moving and getting into things she shouldn't. She was incorrigible. Took us a year to be ready to try again, and in mid-April we brought home another rescue, but he's working out well, if a little too attached to me right now because I'm here all the time. I am a little concerned about what's going to happen when I go back to work.

Ali, the pictures and videos I've seen from the places that have "re-opened" this weekend have me terrified that we are never going to be able to leave our houses until they come up with a vaccine. We really need to be able to rely on the compliance of other people, and that simply isn't happening in too many places that I've seen.

Kathryn you're doing great, keep it up!

Lyn, I hope you find your way back. I'm right there with you...

Have a great day everyone..

I couldn't have lost my weight without meetings, believe me, I tried. I guess people can go back to private meetings in homes, just use the Plan, cut WW out altogether. That's how WW started in the first place.

Here it is Memorial Day and we are still in seclusion, it's been over 2 months.

Jacquie I get nervous when they go out to shop also. It doesnít help that the number of COVID-19 cases are increasing here, since the restrictions were slightly eased. Apparently some people have used the slate restrictions as a license to ignore all the recommendations for social distancing. I am really glad you found the reset button!

Jane, good luck in dealing with your cats behavioral problems. I admire you for trying the flax seed and kale smoothie; I cannot imagine it. I do like most vegetables, but I draw the line at green smoothies.

Lynn I agree with the quote. I feel sorry for the young people who have had to reschedule or totally changed their wedding plans. This is been a very strange year.

Regarding the change in WW leaders in NZ, here in the US, WW is doing a major restructuring. They have laid off a significant number of group leaders, who (According to the New York Times) were notified in a mass ZOOM call. The economic downturn has impacted their business as well; when an organization loses members it is in evitable that they will have to eventually reduce staff. The unemployment rate in my community has a jumped to about 15%, and when someone are laid off (or a spouse is laid off) they cut expenditures. I know the WW program works, and I want them to be successful. It is a balancing act. Because we, the members, need to feel valued and that we are receiving the benefits from the program. It is tough not having the in-person meetings when I am paying for that option. (Of course, even if meetings were available, I would not feel that they would be safe to attend right now)

i think the reset button is in sight lord willing .one of my cats mr frodo was found on a bus in a shoe box at about 3 weeks and i bottle fed him and he had the best temperament and lived till he was 19 .so i dont see that early weaning could be a problem .perhaps he is like me and just gets cranky for no reason.
i am going out to shop tomorrow and all ready feeling anxious about .telling my self i am a silly old chook and going to do it anyway .

Kathryn....that happens....all good if it is every now and then....

Nell....I eat out a lot however I leave on the plate what i don't want.....Read somewhere many years ago that we can either treat our body as a waste basket or we can put the food we don't want in the waste basket.....I often think of that when i look at the size of the meals served....

I can't rely on my eyeballs to estimate anything, not food or fabric or color or anything else. I still weigh out my food after all these years, each ingredient as it goes into the pan. I have noticed that serving sizes in old cookbooks are smaller than they are in modern editions. One of the reasons we seldom eat out is because I am offended by large portions, I don't want to take leftovers home. Tomorrow I'll want something different.

Good evening ...

Interesting reading today .. to control size of portion (1), put it on a plate instead of just picking at food from the frig etc. Doing this helps our mind and stomachs register what we are eating. Besides, a whole bag of chips won't fit on a plate.
(2) use a smaller plate. cutting plate size in half can reduce food intake by 30%. ( personally not sure about eating off a sideplate) but breakfast sized plate would prob work.
For some reason I really resist using a smaller plate (hubby uses one all the time).
But "they" say a study shows that of 2 groups, those eating from a smaller plate reported feeling more full and satisfied. Apparently called the "Delboeuf illusion" -- the amount of white space around a given object (the food), influences the perceived size of the object (portion).

Restaurant meals have radically increased in size ... 20 years ago average pasta meatball dish was about 500 calories, now is close to 1000. Apparently Chinese take out stir fry has just more than doubled. A Bagel has gone from 3inches up to 6.
As well, our dinnerware has grown larger too. In 1950, dinner plates were 9 inches, by 1980 they were 11 inches and now they're closer to 13 inches.

No wonder we're fighting to not gain weight ... all the while thinking it's just because we're now older that it's harder to lose and keep weight off.

Jane, one place I stayed while working out of town has a grumpy cat. He'll come up and want to be petted, or else will let you know it's okay to pet him ... then at some time during the pets, his eyes will change and he'll either bite or swat. I've noticed that he's worse if he's not allowed outside, where he patrols and is King Cat. I wonder if Rudy's genetics are from a line of farm, outside or ferral cats and he has a lot of aggressive, pent up energy. You're the only one around to interact with so you're targeted.

Interesting what the behaviourist said tho because our cat was taken from his mom at about 5 weeks of age. We taught him to drink from a saucer, use the litter box etc. He's a very gentle fella and is bonded closely to us, however he does NOT like other cats in his territory, regardless of whether a hot-to-trot female or male. Felix was never aggressive to people but doesn't share with animals.

Tina, okay, I understand what you are saying about "lawyer speak"; I've worked in the medical field for over thirty years and the doctors use certain phrases which can also be interpreted different ways, one for medical personal. I was taught by the specialist I worked for that "everything" said and especially written, had to be able to 'stand up in court'.
Thanks for explaining how lawyers have to plan for all contingencies .. now I also understand that. Before I thought they were just 'awfullizing" every possible scenerio.

Tawney, was relieved to read your post because when even just "maybe" plans get changed I'm finding I'm not taking it in stride at all.

last week was such a bummer. After finding that the two weddings I was really looking forward to weren't happening this summer I just felt so let down and discouraged with life. DS postponed theirs and my niece had an impromptu wedding last weekend instead of waiting for September. It really bothered me that my brother didn't even phone and tell me. I'd have understood we weren't invited due to restrictions on sizes of groups, but still ... however I sincerely doubt it ever crossed his mind.

there was a post on Fbk that really summed up my feelings ...

I was SO ready to just put up a tree!

Lynn

I did good the last few days and took off the 3 pounds I put on plus's a little more.
Today was my treat day and I did not go over my allotment and even have a point to roll over into my weeklies.
I have taken to planning my meals in the morning and if I eat high calorie for lunch I eat a O point dinner. My favorite is chicken breast, half a plain baked potato and broccoli. For desert some berries with some whip cream 0 points.
I am down a pound this week.

I've had a lot of cats over my life, none of them have been vicious, at least not with me. They usually hide when they don't want to be around me. I saw some online videos of cats unhappy with their owners being around all the time these days. We've been retired and home a lot for 20 years, the cats like to be around us.

Me again,

I wanted to share with you what has been my focus lately. Rudy, my cat, has been getting more and more aggressive in these last couple of months. I think he wonders why I am home all the time. A friend said to me that maybe Rudy wasn't the cat for me! But I love him!

I had an appointment with a pet behaviorist last week and she said that it is very bad to live with a cat that is so aggressive as well as dangerous. She thinks that it is a territorial thing and that he probably was an only child and was taken from his mom too early. He thinks this is his house.

Her solution was to give Rudy a room of his own. WHAT? Anyway I got to thinking that I could probably turn the office into his room. She gave me several ideas to make it more interesting and fun for him. She thinks that I could come in and use the computer for a while with no problems. If that doesn't work I could move the computer into the bedroom and come visit him and play several times a day.

She recommended that I get him a drinking fountain as it is so important that he gets fresh water. I planned to put it in the closet.† I took most of my stuff out of there, took the doors off and put carpet on the wire shelves so he could jump from one to the other. I will move his tree in here and I have made another bed for him on my desk.

He has been watching these changes with interest. He has been there pretty much all day while I was working. He watched the water fountain for a very long time but after a few hours he drank some water.

I certainly hope all of this works. I am realizing that this will give me my life back. I will be able to wear shorts, not have to fight to get him out of the bedroom when I am going to bed, not worry when he is on my lap that he is going to bite me, etc. etc. etc.

He clearly is a lot of trouble. He has been in there for a few days now by himself and I visit. It sure is less stressful for me to not have to be watchful all the time to avoid being bitten. But when he is not being mean he is the cutest, sweetest cat.

So very mixed emotions - sad, grief, stressed, anxious - so eating is not so great.

So sorry this is so long.

Hi,
In Colorado most things are open except big gatherings, dine-in restaurants, some stores so that means we are more likely to be outside. We are encouraged to go outside for some fresh air. I haven't been out in public much but I have noticed that the distancing thing is often ignored and I would think that would be the most important. I would love to get my hair cut but I don't see how the cutter can be 6' away! And they are seeing lots of people every day that could have the virus.

My sugar cravings aren't gone but at least I have removed things like cookies and ice cream. I still go to McD for a shake once in awhile but I can't really binge on that. Yesterday I had a sundae at Baskin Robbins. BUT it certainly isn't good eating for WW...

Happy Saturday...

I haven't been here much, I keep getting here, try to read all the back posts and get so wrapped up doing that I end up not posting. So now I'm just going to try to go forward. One thing I'll say about the posts I've been reading is that the lawyer-speak is not necessarily intended to ignore one's wishes. Lawyers (of which I am one but I don't practice) often must use those terms as terms of art that have particular meaning to lawyers and judges and often do do what you want them to but it doesn't seem like it has to be so complicated. Does that make sense? I'm not trying to shroud the law as something mysterious or too complicated for the lay person to understand, but oftentimes I think the jargon is just "the way to say it" in a legal setting. And as a lawyer you always have to plan for the contingencies, which also makes it more complicated but to not so plan might be considered legal malpractice.

Anyway, I have been trying to ride my exercise bike daily and increase my time on it, all of which makes me feel so much better. But I am still eating more than I should. It feels like hunger, but it's likely more boredom. I'm trying to drink more water, but that doesn't seem to be helping. I honestly think it's just that this is an unnatural way to live. Trying to get beyond that, but I can't seem to rise above it right now.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, a long one for those of us in the states.

It's not a diet, it's not exercise, it's a way of life. Period.

I slipped into a binge yesterday.
My plans could have changed and we may have made a quick trip to our daughters. None of the changes came to pass but I was amazed how shook I got with a "maybe" plan change. Maybe Covid isolation has affected me more than I thought. So long story short I was making my DH a treat, started tasting and the rest is history. It was like I was watching myself do it. I could have stopped, almost stopped but did not. I did manage to stop as this was around lunch time. I ate nothing until supper but slipped again then.
Today I am back on track and feeling good. I am thankful to say that I am not beating myself up for the lapse in judgement.
The muffins turned out great. What I did was take a recipe, substituted unsweetened applesauce for the oil, cut the sugar from 2 cups to 1/2 cup and left out the raisins. I used the recipe creator in the app. It is really cool - does all the calculation for you.
We do have some wolves around but I have never heard them. The coyotes make a lot of noise.
I plan to head outside for more garden work. I have to keep bringing my flowers in and out as it is not warm enough to plant them. Yesterday the dog knocked a flat off the deck. Luckily none were broken. He was chasing a bee!

I'm glad I haven't heard a wolf howl for real. It makes my hair stand on end just in a movie. Peter and The Wolf scared me for months!

Hard to believe it's Memorial Day weekend. No pools, no Indy 500, no parades or picnics. I feel like we've been on lockdown forever, it's been 10 weeks. My granddaughters have been sneaking out to see their boyfriends, hormones are more urgent than fear of a virus.

A tank of gas that used to last a week now lasts over a month. Even when life can resume, I won't be able to do much because of my frail DH. It's May and I'm already worrying about Thanksgiving and Christmas. I only bake for holidays because family can take it away. I can't imagine Christmas with baking.

Hi Ladies. Ahhh, yes spring has arrived. When walking a couple of days ago a 'new' sound caught my attention .. then realized it was the wind blowing thru the new little leaves. Wild sunflowers have covered the hillsides in a matter of a couple of days.

Nell, I'm in the midst of something a bit similar to you .. we're wanting to make a few changes to our wills and by the end of the conversation ( done by phone plus he phoned 40 minutes early so I was still "on the road) .. I was quite confused and the more I thought about it, I realized "he'd" gone in a different direction from what I'd requested.
It's unfortunate we have to argue to try to keep it simple and resulting in what we want.

Kathryn, Wt Watchers had a book on Motivation where they talked about our motivation cycle being linked to the numbers of the face of a clock. 12 was high motivation, then 3, 6 and 9 etc were varying degrees of dwindling motivation. At 6 o'clock position one could go either way ... kick back up and self-correct, or continue slipping sliding. What I found interesting was that the numbers of 10 and 11, (at our worst) were actually the closest ones to 12 .. so after a bad spell of backsliding we are really close to the place of high motivation. So we go to 12 again and try to stay closer to it.

Tawny, congratulations for reaching your goal; that's awesome.
Yes please share the recipe if it works out okay.

Ali, I'd be right there with you, retreating from snpaping and snarling! by the Grace of God I've yet to encounter a bear etc while out walking.

Last winter one evening I heard a wolf howl ... it was absolutely amazing. Started a one low sound "owwwwwww" then just a skow continuous increase in volume and power. They must have such a powerful set of lungs. Although I knew it was wan't real close, was still glad to be standing up on our deck which doesn't have outside stairs down to the ground.

Oh oh, hubby is in an eating mode tonite so I'm going downstairs, and work at keeping that elephant in check.

Lynn
