Had a great 5K this past weekend with O2V in Sault Ste. Marie, MI! Isn't it funny how 3.1 miles pales in comparison to 13.1 now? Not that long ago I said "NO WAY can I run THREE WHOLE MILES." Saturday was just another enjoyable run. Although there were only about 45 racers in the 5K, I placed 4th overall female - WooHoo! Not bad for a woman on the other side of 50 who just began running a year ago.

More exciting was meeting ON2VICTORY and his family. He is an amazing man who embodies the word POSITIVE! And he has his own portable WooHoo crew!

I did my first run outside in over 3 months tonight!!

It was amazing. I was pretty nervous getting outside again as I was kinda discouraged the last time I tried.

I'm so glad I did it & so happy it went so well. It's given much more confidence in myself & at reaching my goal of running some more races next year!

I ran my 2nd HM yesterday and I PR'd - 2:16:04 - beating my 2:20 goal time!! I shaved 12min off my 1st HM's (Aug 1st) time! The best part for me personally, was that I ran pain free. I pulled my groin muscles a week and a half earlier and chose to rest & recover...and it paid off! emoticon

My woohoo would be getting back on track. I did so well last year dropping 40 pounds and well then I fell off the wagon. It slowly started to creep back up again.

I'm finally heading back down. Down 6 pounds in the last week and a half. Also on track with my training for a half in December. Vegas here I come.

Two woo hoo's in one week. Last week I finally reached my Goal Weight (40 pounds GONE!) and Saturday I ran a new long, for me, of 10 miles.

Everyone is KILLING IT!!! Keep it up! You are a force to be reckoned with!

@MOM2NATE08 & AFALLON918 - Way to push through! You have to keep pushing and before you know it, you are done! On to the next challenge....

@MBUSSAN210 - AWESOME! I know it must be a great feeling to cross the finish line especially for the first time. You got a PR and next time I am sure you will be under the 2 hour mark. What's next for you?

@GREYLOCKES1 - Congrats on reaching your weight goal! The hard work has paid off!

AFALLON918 and Momtonate08. Congratulations on your runs. It is always hard to stretch to new distances. But as you noted the feeling of accomplishment more than makes up for your temporary pain. Just don't try to do too much too soon. 1 or 2 additional miles should be well tolerated but more than that can mean risk of injury and starting over after recovering from injury is a major let down.

Yesterday, I did my first ever trail run. 12 miles through a forest on a mountain. (A bunch of hiking uphill was involved.) It took us about 2.5 hours, but it was so much fun!

(my former self would have laid on the couch all day on labor day!)

Did 4:1 intervals, and walked an entire mile (STEEP hill)
Still finished in 1:55:40 (was shooting for under 2 hours)
Came in last place, but I was still SUPER proud of myself - The other 58 runners were super elite.

Did my first HM Saturday! Time was 2:23 - Woo Hoo! I came in 92nd out of 111 females, but this was NOT about time for me - this was about doing it, finishing, and reaching a goal. Stuck with my running partner and we made it through. We'd been training in hot, or at least very warm, mostly humid weather. Race Day was 50 degrees, cold mist, and wind gusts off Lake Superior of 30-40 MPH.

My big woo hoo this month was getting my Dad to the gym. He hadn't been since...well...I don't even remember, its been decades. I asked if he wanted to come with me and surprisingly this time he did. We got day passes at the gym by his house. We played basketball because I know that's something he enjoys. Then we used the cardio equipment and I showed him how to do some weight machines. Not too much for the first day. It was really fun. And my big woo hoo was he went back by himself on Monday and got a 1 year membership!

This is a Thread for posting our Woo-Hoo's for the month of September. Have you met a weight loss goal?, beat a PR?, added a few miles to your long run?, first race or just plain ol' feel like gettin down with a boogie woogie, woo hoo happy dance?

Post them here so we can celebrate with you!
