The American popcorn king was born on this day in Brazil, Indiana. He and his partner, Charlie Bowman, tried tens of thousands of hybrid strains of popcorn before achieving success.

Trivia buffs:
Thehybrid was initially called RedBow but they were advised by an advertising agency to use the name Orville Redenbacher to market the corn. Good choice!

So after my spending at the sales again yesterday I cleaned out my wardrobe and dresser.

I did not really have that much to throw out as I am not in the habit of keeping stuff that does not fit.

But at least it is tidy now, and I have one big draw with all my new workout gear together.

once again the sun has been shining, not that I got to see any with all the clothes I was trying on!

Back to the gym tomorrow, I always feel so bloated on Sundays!

Loved that quote from yesterday Liz!

I'm feeling really pumped right now from my workout. It's always a wonderful feeling when I come to the end of the week and look back over my activities and and see the goals that I'd set out were accomplished. Surely I will reach my full potential this time around!

Thanks so much Liz!

It is a hot day here in Atlanta! It's 97 degrees. I didn't get out to go to the gym again today, but opted rather to stay in and do one of my alternate workouts. Today I did both a 45 minute Tae Bo dvd and 20 minutes of Turbo Jam. My legs were a little sore from running the incline sprints on yesterday but I felt much better after my program today. It's always best for me to work through the mild soreness. I had a little trouble sleeping last night so I'm looking forward to some much needed rest tonight. It's time for a nice bubble bath. Hope everyone had a great day!

I was back in the gym today after giving myself a lazy day on yesterday. There was no way that I could take two days in a row and do nothing (LOL). So, after getting up and doing my prayers and grabbing a bit of protein, I was off and running with my circuit workout. It sure did feel great to be doing something again. I didn't bother setting the clock either. I just went with the flow. It's becoming more and more natural to me.

Afterward it was a trip to the gym. Since I had started doing my walks outside I hadn't been in the gym in way over a week. But I wanted to mix things up a bit. I still did the intervals, alternating between walks and sprints, but I also tried running on incline for my 1 minutes sprints. I didn't run as fast using the incline. I'm training my body how to run the hills and this felt really good. I was really proud of myself for changing up and for taking my workouts to a new level. You know, you never really know what you're capable of doing until you try. I'm determined that I'm not going to let my fears keep me back from doing anything anymore that I really want to do.

Today was one of those days that I didn't feel like doing much of anything. I haven't had a day like this it seems in ages. So I basically just stayed in and read a lot. I didn't do much writing today. I'm currently in the process of putting together my first book. I just wanted a "lazy day" so I took one. Tomorrow I will be back to my normal grind. Working out, writing and more writing (lol). I still have a few days to relax before mom gets back. She's been spending a few days away with other family members. I didn't realize just how much I needed this break. I didn't realize how very tired that I was. So I really deserved this day to just relax and take it easy for a change.

I've been getting outside in the early morning hours and walking/running outside. That has been a blast. I love the sound of the birds singing and the quietness and stillness of the morning right after sunrise. There's nothing else like it! This journey that I'm on now to be healthier is so darn exciting! I'm just loving every minute of it!!

Did you know...that today, besides being celebrated as Independence Day (Happy 4th!) in the US, is the birthday of the Erie Canal?
The Erie Canal was the first major human-made waterway in the United States. It opened the western frontier by providing a waterway between the Hudson River and Lake Erie. Work began on the canal on July 4th, 1817.

Did you know...that today is Perfect Pac-Man Game Day?

In 1999, Billy Mitchell of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, played the first perfect game of the Pac-Man arcade video game at Funspot Arcade in Weirs Beach, New Hampshire.
He scored 3,333,360 points, the maximum possible.
The entire six-hour game was videotaped.

... that today is Tomatoes Not Poisonous Day?
A member of the nightshade family, tomatoes were once considered poisonous.
In 1820, Robert Gibbon Johnson, despite warnings that the tomato's poison would turn his blood to acid, told the cheering spectators that he planned to eat an entire basket and survive.
The story goes that thousands of eager spectators turned out to watch Johnson die after eating the poisonous fruits, and were shocked when he lived. Enjoy a tomato today!

Weekend has started off beautifully so far. I'm so glad that my knee is getting better and I was able to complete a workout today. I hate injuries, but know they come with the territory. Getting ready to watch the World Cup. So excited for USA! Surely hope they will advance.
