I have a variety of rewards for myself--never thought to add yarn or needles to the list--but that's definitely a healthier choice than a weekend away (which always involves eating) or dinner out. :)

My rewards have included massages (my insurance pays for a little alternative care, but it means finding time for myself), haircuts & colors (every 20 lb mark I hit--it's been a long time since the last one). One reward I have had to get occasionally is new jeans or bras (after 20 lbs, the jeans were necessary--after 40 lbs the bras were. :) Maybe when I get under 200 I'll have to reward myself with something knit-related. . .

I have a full set of circulars made of rosewood that are just heaven to use :) That is quite the reward. Sit down, tea at my side, nice soft yarn and circular rosewood needles! emoticon

Well, I like knitting needles. I buy them and covet them. Addis to be more specific. Have you seen the 12" needle by addi. I whipped out a pair of arm warmers on them. The perfect size!

I tell myself out loud "You did it!" and I smile. It actually feels pretty nice to do that. I used to think this was smug but I am realizing that it is necessary for me to be nice to me.

I also.... set aside some time reading, knitting, looking at my cookbooks (love Cooking Light big time!) and doing it without guilt.

My favorite knitting reward is to start a new project.
There is something so exciting about knitting something new.
I have the same rule about my workout too... do that first... then knit.

I'm trying to get back on track, so I've instituted a rule that I can't knit for the evening until I've got my workout in.

I'm hoping that will get me on the elliptical or on the bike (that's on the trainer). I have workout equipment at home, so there's no reason I can't spend 45 min-1 hr working out when I get home. :)

I don't need another inch of yarn for perhaps the rest of my life but I think when I get below the half way mark I will reward myself with this sock kit.

with more yarn for my stash

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much A true friend reaches for your hand but touches your hea

I won't knit until I have worked out that day. So knitting is my reward and my incentive to work out and do it early in the day.

I am losing for my 10 year wedding anniversary so my ultimate reward will be to knit something for me in a luxurious (aka expensive) yarn. I've got so many projects in mind I'm going to have to figure out a way to narrow them down. LOL

I like to start something new as a reward too.

I'll be glad when Christmas present knitting is finished and I can do just that!

Yarn is a much healthier reward than food, for me!

I would love a dress in a lace pattern. Have several options I am thinking of

I am going to start making myself something I have always wanted in a smaller size.

My reward is to start something new on the needles with really great yarn (wool/silk blend or cashmere).

ooooo. A golding spindle! I have 2 but I'd love some more. Still, I would buy that for me and I decided on a reward that I think about but would never ever give myself - a real spa day with massage and body wrap treatment. I want to go here:

www.colonialwilliamsburgresort.com/spa

which will cost an arm and a leg so in order to get the reward I think reaching my goal deserves - I added a savings goal here too. Right now it's at $2 a day but I also toss into that particular kitty any spare change I can collect throughout the week.

I'm thinking just before Valentine's Day I'll have enough to do it up right. emoticon

I was thinking about buying myself a ball of yarn for every 5 pounds I lost and then having enough for a sweater of some sort at the end of my weight loss goal. then i thought of those tricky things called dye lots and i think i might just put some money away for every 5 pounds lost so that i can make this sweater:
www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/viv

n

i really want to make it and i hope that losing 50 pounds will change my measurements enough that i don't even want to think about having to frog that because of size problems.

i think i might need to buy some alpaca at the half way point though

I decided last week that when I successfully lost 25 pounds I would buy myself the Golding spindle I've been lusting after for some time. It's definitely motivation!

I reward myself with something I want, but don't need. I got a fish tank when I'd lost 50 pounds, but lately I haven't deserved a reward.

Just crossed the 1K points mark. Making progress with sticking to exercise and steadily increasing water and healthy beverage intake. Woo Hoo!

I rewarded myself by going to Knit Picks (hee, hee, hee). Yes, the people at KP know my credit card number very well. Ordered some np circs and some wool yarn in Daffodil for my next sweater. For some reason, I've always wanted a yellow cardigan to drape over my shoulders and clip one of those old-fashioned sweater chains at the neck ...

OK back to the here and now! Hope you're havin' a great day!
