Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakk
kk!

Yeah, I shamelessly stole Greg's post title there, did you notice?

Hope everyone is doing great on their goals, health-related and otherwise! Fall is here, the air is brisk and temperatures are cooling down. Well, in North America, anyway! :) Autumn. Best time of the year.

Time to evaluate progress, to tweak plans for better results.

So, what have YOU been up to? I've been waaaaaaaaaaaaaalking all over the place, working, eating pretty much anything I want. Yesterday, for example, I snuck in some Doritos with home-made salsa - yummy! Even my picky 7-year-old nephew loved the salsa - cleaned his plate!

Doritos? Tsk, tsk? But you see, it's a whole-grain serving. Okay, it's covered with not-healthy gunk, but the basic chip is a corn chip! And the salsa was a great way to get in some extra fresh veggies, too! LOTs of vitamin C yesterday, what with the tomatoes and hot chili peppers! Which reminds me, I need to stock up on oranges ... my favourite fruit ought to be coming into season soon!

Hope you're all having a superb October!

Cheers,
Maya

Hmm - no one's using the thread - maybe we should de-sticky it and let people chat on the other threads. :)

Hope you've all had a fabulous summer and are now ready to have a kick-ass fall!

Allergies can definitely affect (negatively) the exercise habit! A treadmill helps! I don't have one. Used to - and in a room with a TV. That helps time go by!

I have a recumbent bike now I use when my allergies or the weather keep me in.

To God be all glory!

Having allergies and a new treadmill to work out at home is thrilling....I love it but it is old and has a permanent incline and a lever to make it go faster ... fun. Having fun?

Thanks again for the support. If I hadn't done the "Work off the Chocolate Bunny" Challenge I probably would have never been where I have grown to today. I guess it was the right time for things to click.

I have sent my prayers this AM.

here I am again LOL

Major multiple computer problems plus health problems and here I am back ready to battle again! Drinking lots of rooibos tea and about to go dust off my Wii Fit - might break my treadmill boredom which makes me not want to exercise.

I am also trying to get a good balance with protein in my diet, to stop sugar spikes and be less hungry...

Okay Wii Fit here I come!!!

--Michelle--

With God's help I can do this!

Good work, Jean - I'm glad your pal got you on the Challenge team, and GREAT that you're incorporating some strength training into your workouts!

Carry, good to see you back, stranger! Yeah, working 2 jobs WILL keep you busy - hope you're still getting some time to squeeze in the workouts and healthy eating! And good luck to your friend in that Miss Rocklahoma contest thing! :)

Mel - it's STILL hot, despite the rain! :)

Cheers,

Hey ladies sorry I haven't been over here in a while. Working two jobs keeps me pretty busy lately. Hopefully they new people will get trained and they will cut my hours back so I can enjoy some summer. Anyway, a friend of mine joined the Miss Rocklahoma contest and she needs some votes. It is an Miss 80s metal bands contest and is judged my the number of votes, not by your accomplishments. So if you get a chance could you go to www.rocklahoma.com and vote for Jana Jones contestant #5. I and she would really appreciate it. Thanks for you help! And Stay Fit!

I have been off the thread of a while. After our challenge my NE Buddy got me to join the Challenge Team. We are almost done with the Rocky Round 1. I am actually doing Strength 3 days a week. I have learned to push myself more. I am actually going on to Round 2. I must be NUTS.

We have two others from our SP CLASS in the team. I just love the Sparks People.

Hope all are doing well? It sounds like we still have a very active Team.

It is HOT, HOT, HOT here also. I have to stay out of the heat because of my issues. I don't really see any end in sight here. The humidity will be here for a few months.

And YESTERDAY was a day that would've melted an ice-cube - in an air-conditioned room. :)

No, SkinnyMissy, I'm not buying your real estate - but those menus sure gave me a giggle. I've heard they DO fry eggs on car bonnets in Texas, just for giggles - because they CAN. I'm almost tempted to take my niece and nephew out in the backyard this summer and try "camping" ...

Well, it was like an oven out there. This was my menu for the day:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, scrambled and cooked on the hood of my car.

Lunch: 1 cheeseburger, fried on my car's trunk lid.

Dinner: 3 oz. piece of rump beef roast, slowly cooked inside my car for maximum flavor.

Oh yes I forgot: I've also got some prime real estate to sell anyone who really believes this stuff! emoticon

Here, we have sunshine and LOTS of heat! 90+ temps, sweating like Niagara Falls. Any of you that are cold are welcome to some of it! :)

I'm tired and run down, but I'm trying to get my 13 cups of water in. Weigh in is Saturday, so we'll see what we see. Tried to do some walking today, but I felt like a piece of beef slowly roasting in my own juice.

Mary, your friend has a great idea there - I *like* the idea of keeping the vaccuum cleaner in the hallway. Except then I'd probably fall over it because I *always* assume I've got a clear pathway, even when I know I don't! :)

And yes, share that recipe, pretty please! :) It sounds delicious!

I'm STILL waiting for sunshine ...

It's my daughter's recipe and she calls it reeses cake - and I NEVER make one for us! Just for others!! It is delicious! (sometimes I get a piece if she makes it!)

I had a friend that kept her vaccuum in the hallway - if anybody came unexpected she said she always said - I was just getting ready to vaccuum!

O well.....so I chooose ONE morning to sleep in and rest ...and the rest is history! But as I said, it DID force me to stop moping around and stop feeling sorry for myself! lol....

Have you ever read :" sandra felton - The organiser lady"...That book changed my life and my outlook!

Mel - I can relate on the house! It seems every spare minute I have not at the B&B is with Gkids - I babysit a lot! (got the 6 yo today-last day of school). anyway - the lady next door - maybe 47 - recently mowed our grass. I was at the B&B where I cut the grass and it was getting shaggy over here. DH called and said RD is mowing our grass. I said stop her! (he is not a grass cutter so he wasn't going to take over). Anyway - she was headed to Florida in a couple of weeks and she said she needed the exercise. So I fixed her a cake a few days later - chocolate with caramel sauce poured in it and then cool whip and chopped reeses on top. So a few days later she brings the pan back and DH opens the door and she bounds up the 6 steps to main level. I thought - OMG - such a mess! I have things on all the steps! Things behind the rail upstairs. And always dog hair!! She thanked me, hugged me and was gone but I kept thinking OMG! Look at this mess. DH said nobody thinks that - they know how busy I am all the time but still - I was mortified! I moved some things and vacuumed the steps! Taken off guard like that we are often surprised at our messes! I'm sure the nieghbor of yours didn't think anything - especially since you are sick AND you helped her! I sort of laughed when I read it though because I could so relate!!

To God be all glory!

Hello all, I hope that you are all well, and feeling better than I am ....I have a cold, my sinuses are killing me! Thank goodness I will be over it by the time I have my swim Analysis at the Physio's office next Fri...lol

So I am always out of bed before everyone else , dressed and I take the kids to school, right , not this morning because I was feeling yuck, so dh took them and I was still in bed, when the DOOR BELL RANG!!! No one ever does that first thing in the morning !!!
ANyway a fellow parent at the school ( which is across the street from us) could not start her car and she did not have her cell on her, so she came over to ask if I had a booster or could she use the phone ! Dh had used the booster pack the night before so we tried it but it did not work, so she came in to use the phone! AAAAH! Not exactly the nice organised house I would like to invite the neighbours to see first thing in the morning! lol....
anyway Murphy's law I guess! and it forced me to get out of bed and stop feeling sorry for myself!
Have a good day everyone! it is misty and grey here...perfect weather for staying in bed, but I will be good and stay out of it! lol

Mel, YAY on those results! Way to go, lady!

And yes, I'm definitely enjoying the rays - even the cooler days now are really welcome, because they break up the routine!

Hey, has anyone else done the virtual walk thing? I've just embarked on a 335 mile virtual walk - from Venice (Italy) to Rome (also the one in Italy!), via Florence. I blogged about it this morning - check out the blog if you're interested!

This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but finally got inspired by one of the challenge-oriented teams that I've just joined.

So, where are YOU gonna walk from, and where to? Even if it's something near home, this is a GREAT way to figure out what sights/trails are near you, and maybe get inspired to actually DO the walk on those trails, rather than just doing the virtual thing.

I'm definitely thinking that some day, I would LOVE to turn my virtual walk into a real one from Venice to Florence to Rome ...

Oh, and it's not just walking - I've known people who've added up their daily bike miles or running miles or even converted all exercise minutes (cardio AND strength) to miles, using a 15 minutes = 1 mile kind of formula. If you're getting bored with your routine, this may be just the added ingredient to reinvigorate you!

Cheers,
Maya

Hard to please, that's me. After a couple of days of 30 degrees Celsius, I'm HAPPY that today is a cooler day - yes, that means it is actually a gray, cloudy day!

*giggle* - SO enjoying the fresh breeze this morning!

Oh, yeah, what Mel's too modest to tell you and you won't find out unless you go to her page and read the blogs ... except, of course, she doesn't know I'm a snitch! :) Yeah, with an "sn" at the beginning, thank you very much! :)

Mel just competed in several events at the Canadian Masters National swimming championship this past weekend. And she came in a very respectable 10th in her age-group!

Yay, Mel - WAY to go!

Keep up all that swimming! You're setting such a fabulous example! :)

And Tina, have you looked into the stainless steel bottles that MEC carries now instead of the plastic/Nalgene ones? I hear they're safer for your health ...

My water bottle broke. Time to buy a new one. I guess I used it so much that the bottom gave out. I tried to glue it back together with some nail glue but that only lasted for a couple months. So time to buy a new one. I will use this old one, one last time before I retire it.

What a wonderful day! I got to play outside with the kids this afternoon and it was sooooo nice after a crazy hectic weekend....
Because I was away at a swim meet I was not able to track food, but I can safely say I burnt more calories than I ate ( lol) ...anyway back to tracking today.....

ONE DAY AT A TIME FOLKS!!!
Have a great evening!
p.s Maya is my cheif cheer leader!!!!

The choices before me are mine to choose, win or lose!

Don't wait until you "feel like it " to exercise, that only happens AFTER YOU ARE DONE! ( the first 10 minutes are the hardest, after that it gets easier to keep going)

You never know what you might achieve if you just go for it and push through!

It isn't raining here.... yet. The storms & rain are supposed to come in later today. I love watching storms too. It is beautiful (provided you have some protection from it).

I've been trying to psyche myself up to do the 100 pushups final test - can't seem to get inspired.

So, to inspire myself, I just decided to try the 200 situps one again (the last time I tried, I managed 169 and then - got BOOOOORED!, so I stopped!)

Yep. Managed 210, and I wasn't even tired.

Hula hooping or not, I've got some good abs under all this fat! Yay, me!

Cheers,

Jean, I'm SO glad you're keeping up the tracking! It really DOES make a difference!

And be sure to get in that water!

Everybody ... is it raining out where you are? Today, we've got thunderstorms - I was up before the sun came up, and I saw lightning! :) Cooool! I LOVE thunderstorms! :)

Maya, you are quite the WOMAN. I have been busy recently and have not followed what all are doing. I enjoy gardening and all my extra time (and energy) are spent on that. We got 1 inch of rain last night. I still track all my nutrition since the challenge. I always do at least 10,000 steps daily.

Maya, congrats on the push-ups. You are doing an amazing job.

Today, I walked for 40 minutes and I did 48 minutes of strength. And guess what my 200 sit-ups wasn't a fluke. I did it again today!!

I plan for today to be the start of my recommitment to getting healthy!!

Just got back from the ball field. While DS and DH were practicing I walked with DS's Ipod. I put the fastest songs on and it is amazing how much faster you walk when the song is fast.

Thanks, everyone! Now what are YOU doing today to reach YOUR goals?

(Just thought I'd throw that out there!)

I did Week 6, Day 3 of the pushups challenge today, but ZERO other exercise. My body is appreciating the rest day, I can tell you!

Oooh, I gotta, gotta, gotta brag!

I just did it!

TWO HUNDRED CONSECUTIVE SQUATS! :)

I'll bring back the WonderWoman pic in a day or two, but for now, squats rule! :)

Yeah, I'm doing well on the freggies so far ... a large carrot, a mini cucumber, half a roasted green pepper. Hmm. Not quite as good as a weekday, but not too awful! :)

Cheers,

I am glad to see this thread is taking off again. Hope everyone is enjoying their mothers day so far. It looks like it is going to be a great day. No wind so far and the sun is shinning here. I think the old lady dog and I will go for a slow walk today in our favorite spot down by the river now that we have the clean bill of health and the go ahead to increase out time and distance.

Tina, the fruit/veggie challenge IS only today and tomorrow. Friday was a typo. More like a "dimbulb moment!"

So, I'm all done today and thought I should report in on those freggie (what else would YOU call a fruit/veggie?) servings:
- one cup sauteed mushrooms
- half a small onion, sauteed
- 3 hot chili peppers
- one mini-cucumber (love, love, LOVE 'em!)
- one large carrot
- juice of half a lime (dressed the cuke/carrot slices)
- half a cup of sauteed green beans
- half a cup of stir-fried bitter melon

All right. I think I did good. Still within my calories, but just barely - I think I was just 20 calories away from the upper limit on my range!

But I burned close to 800 calories today, so I think it's okay that I was high on calories.

Cheers,
Maya

Maya, I got hungry just reading what you had for breakfast.

I was able to go back to sleep for a couple more hours. I woke up at 7am so I could get a load of laundry in the machines before they were all taken. HEHEH. Early bird gets the worm.

You should read some posts on Rita's team main topic you should read is ones that have Who Inspired me. Trust me go read some of them.

I am going to join the Fruite veggie challenge this weekend as well. Except I missed Friday but I will just do it on Sat and Sunday. I guess more of a mental challenge for myself. I need to eat more of those suckers to get the body working proper and REGULAR!

Speaking of getting my body working proper, I must got have my first jug of water of the day.

Lots of Love!

Oh, I just had WAY too big a breakfast, but I am happy to report that I'm doing well on the freggies: 1 cup sauteed mushrooms, 1/2 a small onion, sauteed, 3 hot green chili peppers (did you know there's almost a full day's worth of vitamin C in each of these little suckers?)! I think that's already about 4 servings of veggies right there. :) And lunch is usually (these days) cukes and carrots and tomatoes - unless we wind up eating out.

Sadly, I *also* had a couple of eggs, a slice of (not fat-free) cheese, and a hunk of bread. The bread I shoulda skipped. Or maybe eaten half as much. :)

I'll be having an orange for a snack in a bit - it may wind up being an afternoon snack, though, I haven't the room to do much eating rightnow.

I'll go work off the mega-breakfast on the treadmill in a bit - raining again, so I can't go play outdoors.

Okay, get in those freggies, everyone!

Cheers,
Maya

Yii! Hope you got back to sleep, Tina. And NO Double Double, girl! :) You know that's not gonna do you much good - if you want the caffeine, just go for a BLACK! :)

And NEVER check SP in the middle of the night - I swear I've lost more sleep BECAUSE of SP than for any other reason - my logic just stops working and I keep surfing for more, more, more ... :)

Man oh man. Note to self never ever drink a Timmy's Double Double coffee at 7:30 at night again. I don't drink coffee that much anymore, I may have one in the mornings but nothing like I use to.

I was awake until 1:00 am watching Dances with Wolves. I was able to fall a sleep but woke up half an hour ago (4:00am) I laid in bed and could not sleep the blater was screaming at me. So I went to the washroom and decided to check my e-mail. You know just incase the Queen sent me something. LOL. I crack myself up. So I checked my e-mail and decided to check out SP. Crazy me.

You know once you get on here it is hard to get off. The time just flies. So I best try to get back to sleep before Mr. Sun wakes up.

So, 5 to 8 for the weekend! That's Saturday and Sunday.

Maya, I enjoy being on SP and all the helpful people. So I thought I'd join this thread so that I might be of some help to someone else.

Tina, You, Maya and I are on a lot of the same threads.

Carry, I'm not new to this team. I joined last year. I've lost 8 lbs. since recommitting in January. It should be more, but as Maya stated I've lost and regained the same few pounds over and over.

Maureen, we are all still here for you. Take things one day at a time. It will get better.

Anna, way to go on another 10 lbs. You are rocking!!

Who's up for a little mini-challenge for this weekend?

Just for Friday and Saturday, make sure you get in 5 to 8 servings of fruit and/or veggies.

That's it.

Report back as we get through the weekend.

I know that with visiting and family stuff, I tend to get a little bit more relaxed (hahahaha! a LOT! more) on the weekends, and I need to stay accountable to someone for that! :)

Today, as a "normal" day, I've already had 2 mini cucumbers, a plum tomato, a large carrot and a large orange - and it's only mid afternoon. I'll probably wind up with a cup or so of veggies (cooked this time) at dinner, as well. So, as you can see, on a normal day, I do fine. It's the eating out (oh, yeah, Mother's Day, too!) that gets me! :)

So, who's in? I am, because I need it!

Cheers,
Maya

Maureen, hang in there. Whatever it is, remind yourself that this, too, WILL pass.

Carry, happy birthday to your son! And yay on your walking partner motivating you EVEN more - sorry she tore those tendons, but glad you're helping her recover in an active way!

Anna, WHEEE! on the losses! Congratulations - that's a nice little 40 pound number there! Cool!

Cheers,
Maya

Maya I am glad you started the new thread. We already have new people on. emoticon

Donna - That is great you have lost 8lbs already. Way to go. I wish I could say the same. I think the stress in my life is hindering me. Oh well. Someday.

Maureen - hang in there. My life is a mess too. I work two jobs and have a son that turned 18 today. Plus my walking partner, my dog, tore the tendons in her knee. Now that I HAVE to walk her everyday, suppose to twice a day, I have picked up a new obsession. I can't go a day without walking or I feel totally guilty. So I am out there walking at 930 at night lately even. Crazy since I hate walking in the dark.

Hi, I'm Maureen and sometimes I post and sometimes I lurk. LOL
I love this team though.
My life is pretty much a mess right now, but it is out of my hands, so I just have to deal with it.

Hey, Tina and Donna, GOOD to see you both on here!

I'm joining you in that SunDance, Tina.

Hey, if anyone thinks they "shouldn't" be dancing because they're too heavy, check out this gal - she's one of my heroes - look at that grace and flow! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdPKbuoyG3w

One of these days, I want to be as brave as she is! :) And as gorgeous and fluid!

Cheers,
Maya

I'm Donna, one of MRSHONEYC's busy bees!! I've lost 8lbs. this year since recommitting t the program.

I as well need to get more exercise after falling off the wagon. It is so hard to make that part of my daily routine again.

I'm Tina, one of MrsHoneyC's busy bees!

I need to get more exercise weekly as I hit a bump but I am working on getting to the gym and making it my routine again.

I have lost 16 pounds so far on my new journey to a healthy lifestyle.

I am praying that the sun will come out this weekend and play. I love do to the Sun Dance.

Oh, lemme introduce myself: I'm Maya, one of MrsHoneyC's busy bees.

I tend to be an exercise nut, but I also tend to overdo the eating ... :)

So, over the past 16 months, all I've lost is 11 pounds net.

But I've actually lost probably closer to 50 because for the first 11 months, I mostly spent them bouncing between 206 and 215! :)

Now I seem to have hit some sort of groove and the weight is coming off ... slooooowly, but it *is* coming off!

Cheers,
Maya

Carry thought we needed a new thread for the chat, and I agree!

Come by, chat, tell us what you're doing, how you've done all year, what results you've had and/or NOT had! What would you do differently if you did it over?

What are you planning to do THIS week to achieve the results you are looking for?

What's going on in your life? Is there anything a SparkBuddy can do to help? Or would you like us all to shut up and go away? :)

Go on, TELL us! We want to know! We'd love to get to know you a little better - what better way than by sharing some of our lives right here?

This is YOUR team - MAKE it yours!

Cheers,
Maya
