My Pet Peeve:
Hotels near a airport, but no restaurants. I take the hotel shuttle, so no rental car. Then get to the hotel & there are no restaurants. Nothing in walking distance and no restaurant in the hotel either. Now what? Pizza delivery, I guess.

Having a great stay at Hava Space rv park in Gravois Mills Mo! Owners are so friendly and help you any way you can. Park is clean and close to Lake of Ozarks!

I swear I am going to pay the 85 bucks and get TSA Pre-board. What bugs me the most about traveling is the "amateurs" in the security line. emoticon

Frustration - small regional airports with over zealous TSA agents! I had to bite my tongue so hard, it almost fell off! I was traveling on a small Beechcraft; 12 seats. 3 people on the flight total. This TSA woman took my checked bag and removed every single item (I kid you not). She took each bottle of lotion, shampoo, deodorant, medicine, etc., and wiped them all down for explosive residue. She took all of my dirty laundry out of the bag and ran it through the xray scanner separately. I was just seething. But the final straw was when they made me take my socks off, and then they tested my bare feet for explosive residue along with my bare hands. I kept my mouth shut, as I wanted on that plane and out of that horrible place, but I sent a complaint to the TSA headquarters. For all the good it will do. Travel is its own nightmare, sometimes. Thanks for letting me vent!!

Friday - was an interesting day - my frustration for the day - the couple who haven't traveled in a while - slow at checking - too many bags, very very slow through TSA, and I could go on - they seemed to be oblivious to everything around them.

I got finished with my trip early and went ahead and changed my flight - good thing too - my original flight was delayed and I would not have made it home. I use Tripit and kept getting updated through out the day about my original flight. My changed flight was delayed as well by about an hour or so - but made it home prior to when my orginal flight would have left even if it had been on time.

One other frustration - just being in the airplane.

Frustration: small airports with only one customs agent. Last night, I flew into a small airport in Victoria BC. Three planes arrived at the same time. They were small planes but there were well over a 100 people that needed to go through customs. They only had one customs agent and since my luggage was lost (albeit temporarily - I got it back later), I was the last one in line. It took me almost two hours to get through. You'd think they could staff up for busy times.

On the bright side, everything was in English. Going through customs in small Asian airports where I can't read the signs and I'm not even sure if I'm in the right line is worse!

I just finished a month of taking the commuter bus from the 'burbs to downtown and back for work. When we get back to the commuter lot at the end of the day, it is so orderly that I really think air passengers could learn a lesson or two from it. Everyone knows the routine, and they stay in their seats (yes, seated, not standing in the aisle or standing in their seat area) until the person ahead or across from them has gotten up to exit. There is a steady flow of people off the bus, nobody gets jostled in the aisles, and it really works. You can tell who the new riders are, since they are the ones that pop out of the seat as soon as the bus stops! Now... If only we could pass the message on to airline passengers to stay in their seats at least until the jetway door is open!

Hopefully you weren't planning to sleep during the flight last night, Tink?

As for those who choose to recline their seats in front of you, you might need to keep pulling on the back of their seat!

I'm echoing the chair thing...

Flight last night leaving at 10 something from Charlotte to Tampa - arrival midnight.

Two guys behind me, talking over the person in the middle seat. All flight. One directly behind me had obviously been drinking, kept saying how tired he was, then he proceeded to "loose" his cell phone. So with all his squirming and searching, and every move, he kept pushing and pulling on my seat.

A child behind me might have been more pleasant!

Pet peeve #237: Tonight on the plane, the guy in front of me sat down and immediately reclined his seat back as far as it would go. Nearly broke my laptop screen. Same thing after we took off. I had to lean my seat way back so that I could see my screen. It was like a domino effect. The most frustrating part is that nobody else in eye shot leaned their seat all the way back. Why do I always sit behind the guy that does that?!!!

New forum topic: what has gotten your goat today in the world of travel? Let's share our travel stories here with our team members who understand.

My biggest pet peeve lately: people who use the seat in front of them to hoist themselves up, or back into their seat, particularly when they are seated behind ME! With the sturdiness of the seats in planes, I feel like I am going to be shot out of my ricocheting seat like a slingshot! Buddy, use your armrest for leverage, not my seat.

OK... pretty minor, but I bet there are other frustrations bubbling that others can share with an empathetic crowd? What has pushed your buttons lately?
