Lady Justice and the book club murders. by Robert Thornhill. An easy almost comfortable read. A blah man chooses to murder as a way to not be blah. I give it 5 stars, altho it isn't outstanding. The writing is good, and character development V. good.

Goldberg Variations - Susan Isaacs 2 stars

Skip this book. Very slow paced with a predictable ending. Not much to learn or like about the characters. Not sure why I finished it.

I'm in a minor depression, and want to live in a different world for awhile, so I'm reading many long hours. John Sandford's "Golden Prey" world was a bit too violent for me, but it certainly hooked me to the end. I'd read his "Prey" books before, but don't remember them so vicious. I give this book a three ***

Every Note Played - Lisa Genova 3 stars

Most people rated this much higher. It is the story of a classical pianist with ALS who ends up living with his ex-wife. Gives great insight into how horrible the disease is but I wanted more character development. Of course it was sad but the main characters were not likable at all.

Machines Like Me by Ian McEwan. This "artificial Intelligence" robot is fascinating. You get an unusual love story, plus learn some of the hurdles the programers face, plus enough about Alan Turing to want a biography about him, plus quirky characters. I doubt it's for everyone, but I sort of loved it. -- so I give it a wishy-washy 5 stars.
