Has Twinhood affected your relationships?

The first time my boyfriend met my sister we all watched a movie and had a bit to drink. My boyfriend told me later when he was a bit tipsy, "It's like you... but not right!" LOL. He likes Rachel, but she isn't me!

Heh, yeah, I guess that was all the same guy:). I didn't want to actually post his name.

You keep saying "boys," but I think you mean, "Nathan."

I think the worst was the boys who seemed to think it was "cool" to date twins because they saw too many debauched movies. Or the boys who would flirt with one of us while dating the other. Or the boys who considered us interchangeable. Or the boys who would try to make me feel inferior and take second place to them because they felt threatened by our relationship.

my husband actually met my twin a few hours before he met me. We both had different blind dates to the same function, and I was running late. He says it was a little uncomfortable for him.

I know it made my husband a little uncomfortable, especially at first, but fortunately we met when my twin wasn't around. we both ended up doing most of our dating of our now husbands separately- there weren't many double dates!!!

its awkward if I want to go over and talk to a guy but my sister has to trail along with me...

Plus, its just like you said, they see your twin as a boundry.

Twinhood is kind of awkward to other people sometimes, especially if they have a special relationship with one twin and not the other. Out of the corner of their eye, they see the other sister/brother and are about to respond to them as if they are their friend/partner/etc, and then- wham! That's not my person. Thats a person that just looks like my person.

Have the singles in your life reported this as a dilemma?
