My 4 Day Goal: Track all food and stay in range.
Daily Reward: $1.00 in a jar for future fun spending
4 day Reward: Tall, nonfat Cascara Latte from Starbucks!!

2/20: emoticon Today was HARD, but I made it.

2/21: emoticon I did it! Stayed in range and even got to enjoy a Lindt truffle as my dessert. No urges to binge.

2/22: emoticon Another day with no binges. I re-introduced a long exercise session today, and I was worried that I would use that as an excuse to overeat. It turned out okay...I did go to bed hungry, which was not pleasant, but I think I need to retrain my body still.

2/23 emoticon So far, so good today. I am REALLY hungry right now, but I want to stay the course. Good news: 153.0 pounds!

Final: Success! It was hard, I was definitely battling hunger, cravings, and impulse control. I learned to drink more water, laid up on lean protein, and that healthy eating is within my control...if I choose to do it.

Happy New Year!

This thread is for logging and reporting 4 Day Wins. "The 4 Day Win" is a practice from the book by Martha Beck.The main idea is that a goal that is practiced and sustained for just 4 days is very likely to perturb the inertia we get into with bad habits and push us forward.

I for one love the idea of just 4 days at a time and use it to explore all sorts of new habits.

To create a 4 day win:
* Choose a goal and then simplify it by half. Simplify again. You want something that is ridiculously easy. (This step is very important. My 4 day wins are a little harder now, but I had to start with really easy ones.)
* Identify a daily reward and then a bigger 4 day reward. Rewards can be anything that give you a little pleasure. 4 day reward is just a little bigger to recognize the accomplishment. I use rewards like soap bubbles (!), daily origami or kirigami, bubble bath, foot massage, popping bubblewrap, and so on. (It is a mind game to some degree.)
*Report daily on your progress!
