How do you know you're REALLY having a binge-free day? When your brain is so burned out and you're so tired that you can't even entertain your thoughts of having dessert or a glass of wine b/c you have neither at home, and you can't muster the strength to go to the store and get them.

I'm totally spent!

Sorry Oolala, no photos from the wedding last night. I was just a guest, and I didn't take a camera with me.

Hi sparkers!
I am fading fast. I did some running around -- getting copies, buying fresh strawberries (which turned out to be s-o-u-r!) and fresh blueberries for morning cereal.

I made an eggplant ratitouille with lots of mushrooms and bulgar wheat for supper so I am picking my mother up at church and bringing her over for eats. I suddenly got tired out, and don't think I will get to my meeting. I just know my limits. Emma went off for a swim in the ocean with a friend.

I am not a busy beach swim-in-the-ocean kinda gal! There is no way in hell I would wear a bathing suit in public these days. Emma took a picture of me last night when I was catching her in her semi-prom dress. I was horrified! I definitely look bigger than my last pics (a few years ago)! Maybe it was the calypso pants, and it is only really 13 pounds over what I was for most of the year then, but I definitely see how my not toning up lets gravity run its course!

I really need to to get it together around weights, yoga, stretching again. I did it religiously for 5 years and very gradually let it go. I figured as long as I was doing some form of cardio, I was legal! Of course that is all rationalization. Time to consider my level of commitment now that I am used to living in my chaotic reno project, and can actually function as if it is normal!

I will have to put a blanket down to avoid the dog hairs and find a space beside the 4 foot by 8 ft high boxes of laminate flooring sitting in the middle of my livingroom. So it is good that I am talking this talk. It is the precursor to walking the walk!

I am getting to bed early tonight. No toning today!
Tomorrow I will commit to toning and lifting some weights, dog hairs be damned! I am binge-free! That keeps me in the running and makes me feel sane!

Ta, Reggie

Jol1, I think you must have made it a lot of days even if it hasn't often been 21. It's an arbitrary, if useful, number anyway. Though I thought I'd have lost more by now, I'm still glad for the number of total days I've been BF this year. I've been trying to get more routine about exercise, and I keep watching your 4-day wins. I only made it when I was visiting my friend and doing a lot of walking. But, maybe today will start one. emoticon

OOlala -- I'm using 4DWs to become BF... I have trouble thinking even "I will be BF for 21 days"... scares the hell out of me, but I can do anything for 4 days! Also using it to work on other food habits and personal habits.

Reggie, you're doing good work. I marvel at everything you get done.

Bethany, when do we get to see a photo of you from the wedding?

Doublel, sounds like a fun weekend. I visited the Cloisters in 1976. I actually don't remember stained glass, which is probably going to prove embarrassing when you see lot of it. I remember more tapestries and a serene atmosphere. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Jol1, am I finally understanding that you are combining 4-day wins with being BF?

Today is a sweet day, no restrictions, besides inhaling food. Yayl emoticon

Day 3 here :).

Leslie ~ enjoy the Cloisters. It's one of my favorite museums ever! My parents used to take us there when I was growing up and the unicorn tapestries are gorgeous.

I got up super-early this morning and biked 17 miles with my group. Tons of hills, but at least we got it done before the insane heat/humidity kick in.

Afternoon plans include watching USA soccer and hitting the pool with the family.

Good morning! I've been up since 6am, had a healthy breakfast and got an oil change. Now I am about to go to a spa for a facial (my mothers day gift from DH). Very excited!

Today will be filled with errand running, so that always is good for me in terms of eating. I tend to get caught up in what I'm doing and stick with three main meals. No extra munching. I am going to do the dreaded maternity bathing suit shopping today. Ugh. Hopefully I'll be too relaxed to be upset about it!

If I play my cards right I'll be back home to watch soccer w/ DH. Then we'll do dinner at our town's street festival tonight. Tomorrow we are headed to the Cloisters, a medieval museum and gardens. It is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but is located in northern Manhattan (with free parking, yay!). I have never been before and always wanted to check it out. I am a huge fan of stained glass, which there is a lot of and I heard that the gardens are beautiful too. Should be a fun and relaxing weekend!

Hope everyone enjoys their weekends-binge free!

Good morning to all! Today is Day 7 for me.

Definitely feeling completely back to normal. I'm majorly excited to watch team USA today! I have to work a 12 hour shift, but I work in a bar so that's convenient for viewing sporting events. I never worry about bingeing on Saturdays because I work all day and all night, and even though there is delicious cheesy crunchy food everywhere, it's just not my style to binge when I'm doing something productive. I binge when I feel bored and like life is passing me by... it's stupid, but I feel like I can't slow down because if i do I'll binge. I always am doing something! I kind of like it that way, though.

JAMIE - I find it amazing that you were able to have that cinnamon bun in the morning and enjoy eating it! That's pretty major. And then to make up for it later in the day by having a light lunch. That's very healthy and very reasonable! I'm sure it wasn't easy and you may have given that cinnabon more thought than most people would, but you managed to do it in the end!

OOLALA - Thank you for your encouragement. I know there will come that time again where I'm not just sailing through, and I will be sure to get my butt on here before I do anything I'll regret later! You are starting a new streak? Congrats! I think I would be tempted to keep counting the days, but I notice that most people on this site start over once they reach 21.

I'm off to "work" now. People who aren't in healthcare or the service industry (those who get weekends off)- have a great weekend! :)

Morning to all my BF ladies. Uh, I am TIRED, and maybe just a smidge feeling the beer from last night.

The wedding was nice. I looked lovely, if I do say so myself. Very happy how my outfit, makeup, hair turned out.

In addition, I barely ate anything yesterday, was just so busy I couldn't think much about food. And I hardly ate anything at the wedding, not even CAKE! I just didn't feel physical hunger. I'm sure that's why I'm feeling the beer this morning a little.

this looks like it will be another busy day. Wishing everyone the best!

Day 11 - binge-free!

Good morning,sparkers!

Another beautiful, sunny morning, altho we are supposed to get showers later. I got to bed late watching a silly movie. I picked Emma up from the dance hall at 11:45. She was very tired, but said the prom was ok (not great, but ok).

I am walking the doggies this morning and then going for copies of papers I need to deliver to hotels and B&Bs in my district to provide to hotel guests, which are meeting lists for self-help groups in case guests want to attend meetings. I have been putting this task off, but the walking will do me good. I also have to deliver info to nursing homes in my area. We are attempting to reach out to elderly persons who might have addiction problems. In a sense, they are the invisible in our society -- especially women, who tend to drink or abuse prescription drugs in isolation at home.

I have my meeting tonight. My foodplan is in place and I will be physically active today. All the best,
Ta, Reggie

Back from Pittsburgh. Didn't even walk by the treats table that they had set up for us. Knew that I would not be able to handle it. Instead went to Panera Bread and was eating a strawberry poppyseed chicken salad when this group of women asked me to take their picture, which I did. They they proceeded to buy me a cinnamon bun. Most people would be happy to get such a treat for free- for me it began my usual obsessing!!

So I went back to my hotel and left the bun in my car for the night- got dressed for bed so I would not be tempted to go back out to my car. I thought about just throwing it away but couldn't bring myself to do that.

Ended up eating it for breakfast. Sat down and enjoyed eating it. Ate a salad for lunch to make up for the extra calories consumed at breakfast.

Good night everyone. Till next time.

Monkeyshortz, hope you got through Friday at work. I forgot why it's all you can eat. Getting over wanting to have food because it's free is a big hurdle. I took a couple of free desserts from my weeklong workshop snack tables this week, but mostly skipped what was there. I hate to sound mean, but I noticed that the majority of people were pretty heavy and I'm sure they weren't hungry, but were just eating because it was there. It is one of the curses of an affluent society, IMHO.

What a wrenching story of a generous family in regard to the kidney transplant. Hope your future father-in-law is doing well.

I know what you mean about noshing instead of having a meal, but after several months of eating mostly meals with no snacks, I've also come to recognize that sometimes, especially when the food is rich, I need only a snack-size amount to be satisfied until the next meal. I may wish I was hungrier, but I'm not! However, I usually try the next meal to have more normal fare.

I think you are doing very well! A lot learned in a short time. Good going! emoticon

So I have had a couple very busy days and have been unable to post!

Wednesday and Thursday were very emotional. My fiance's father had a kidney transplat a few months ago and we got to meet the family that gave him the kidney. The family lost their little girl in an accident and donated her organs. The whole meeting was very sad!! Plus, the family is making a documentary of their daughters life and these meetings (her other organs went to other people) so there were cameras everywhere which stressed me out!

But, my eating has been pretty good. Not great, but not bingeyish. Yesterday at work, I caught myself in the potato chips and cheese dip. I just had to think to myself "Why am I doing this". I was able to stop. It was hard, but I was able to do it!

Today I am kind of nervous...Fridays at work mean all you can eat at work and I always overeat! But, I did go buy some popsicles today so I am hoping that if I do well at work, I can have one when I get home!!

Also, I am nervous because I didn't really have lunch. I was at my parents helping my dad make cakes for a wedding and munched on some cake (not too much though) and had a little chicken. I feel like I really didn't eat lunch which makes me think I can eat whatever I want! I will have a snack when I get hungry, but it doesn't mean I can have a free-for-all!

Sorry this is so long, and sorry if my comments below are from posts a few days ago!!

Lizz-this might sound dumb and childish, but have you ever tried sleeping with a stuffed animal? I used to come home from my boyfriends house and eat and binge before bed because I was lonely and wanted affection. It helped some nights to crawl into bed and have something to hug and snuggle with. It might help you. Instead of getting up and eating just cuddle!!!

Catherine-welcome! You are in the right place! I also think that you can lose weight while tackling binging! Why not get to birds with one stone!! I think it is tricky, but it can be done!

Ohlala-way to go! congrats on your first streak. I see another one right around the corner!!

Bethany-I love how you recognized that sleep and talking to us was a better option! That is so hard to do when you are "caught in the moment" of wanting to eat!

One last thing...I keep thinking that once I am cured of my binging habits, then it will be okay to do it occassionally...why am I thinking this is okay?

Have a good weekend everyone!

Congrats, Running! I'm so glad you're feeling strong. It's so comforting when we get a reprieve from the urges. However, I hope we can help you through being able to resist-or stop before they build-stronger and stronger urges. Coming here to read and write, or thinking about the people on this board has helped me at times to say No to urges that I know I would have given in to before. Knowing that others have had to tough it out at times when it might have seemed like it made perfect sense to give in gave me strength. I hope it can for you, too. We'll take turns! emoticon

Day 6 :)

Hi everyone,

I want to say thank you for such a warm welcome from everyone! Today is Day 6 and, a few months ago, I would barely be keeping it together by this point. But as of late, I've been sailing right through the single digit days. I'm trying to figure out what happened that helped me elongate my BF streaks. One thing I did notice was that it got better right after I quit caffeine. I think the cravings are a little more bearable without that dissociative caffeine feeling. And I definitely don't miss it- I thought I would, but I don't. I feel better.

The scale was up a pound this morning from yesterday. I'm not too worried about it, but it does mean I need to tighten the reigns a bit. I usually need to eat between 1000 and 1400 calories to lose weight, and lately I've been more like 1500-1800. And I know that a lot of people say that you shouldn't try to quit binge eating and lose weight at the same time, but it looks like that's what I'm trying to do!

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

Catherine

Day 11 - binge-free!

Good morning, sparkers!

Congratulations Oolala, on your 21-day streak! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thinking of you, Kristina and Jolikey! Seize the day!

I am walking Emma to the hairdressers with the doggies so that she can get her hair-do for the semi-prom this evening. This is beginning to feel like a family wedding! The sun is shining today and my garden is growing, which lifts my spirits. I had a gruelling mediation session yesterday, but it is gratifying seeing progress.

I have household chores to do today and will take it as it comes. I have been reading the Tao te Ching again and find these writings very calming and inspiring at the same time.

Off into my day. I have my foodplan in place and will be getting my walking in, too.

Ta, Reggie

Evening all. I had an unplanned evening out with friends. Had a few beers and what appeared to be a relatively healthy fajita dish. All in all, I may have gone over calories, but if I did, not by much. Certainly not the controlled uber-healthy dinner and evening I had planned. When I walked in my house going to eat was my first instinct. I wanted to get lost in something...food. Lost because I am tired, don't want to work tomorrow, am frustrated that weight loss is slow, and just frustrated in general. But, I caught myself, realized what I was feeling, and decided restoration from a good night sleep and venting to y'all is a much better remedy. Esp since I have a hot black dress I need to fit into tomorrow for the wedding!

The cortisone shot the doc wants me to have is just to verify that the pain is coming from the cartilage tear and that it isn't something more extensive. If I have the shot and the pain goes away, then the tear is the sole culprit. If I have the shot and still have pain/issues, there is more at play and the investigation needs to be broadened before he thinks it's reasonable to make a decision to operate. I personally think the cortisone shot will work wonders for me, and then I'll be able to make the decision to operate. I don't consider the shot a permanent solution. I'm 27, and have dealt with this for 1.5 years now. Without repir, the tear is only going to get worse over time, and the pain more severe as I increase my physical intensity of workouts. The doc is just slow to cut, and wants to make sure it's the best route. Besides, I've already met my deductible, and I'm about 1/3 of the way to meeting my out of pocket max, so now is the time to do it. I'll need the insurance coverage, esp for the physical therapy I'll need after.

Signing off!

Jol1, hope you made it through day 4.

Bethany, I don't know if I had as severe an injury in my shoulders as you have in your hip. I've had a fair amount of pain at different points in each of them and was told surgery was an option. I was also told that cortisone done often can make the cartilage brittle, but that is mostly a problem of athletes who keep getting it done. I've had two shots in a shoulder spread out about a year apart. I haven't had one for at least two years. It helped a lot, but I still have to be careful. Better than nothing, though.

Keep up the good work, Chance!

Sorry about the news on the scale, Maxy. However, I suggest you weigh yourself at least 3 days in a row and average. On Monday, after a weekend of chocolate and salty foods, I weighed nearly 5 pounds more than I did on Wednesday.

Have a happy second Friday, Doublel

Good job on the three meals, Buggy. Don't know if the weight loss will continue as fast, but it's a habit that can feel very sane.

Congrats on getting through the grad ceremony, Kitty. And for finding a way to torture a teen. We love 'em, but sometimes they deserve it!

Sure had fun at dinner. I had corn on the cob AND pasta. I consider corn a grain/starch and don't always mix it with other starches, but I wanted both. That wasn't all I had, but I won't go into it. I'm not sure if it was as light as I wanted because our workshop organizers are hosting a breakfast that I know I'm going to want to partake in. I've been passing up the snacks all week, which hasn't been that hard as it is a pretty much a habit now, but it it did stir up a little of that desire to take advantage of free food. I've been very un-hungry in the mornings this whole week. So, tomorrow, I'm hoping I'll be hungry for sumpin'!

Okay, everybody- my first 21-day streak since the end of March complete! emoticon

Don't be discouraged about the weight gain. You have had a tough year health-wise with injuries. You will get the weight off again! You are very active and know what it takes to do it right!

Bethanyway: What a bummer that you have to go through all the stress of being doctored and operated on and then healing from it. At least you are going to know what's what and can eventually resolve it and be active to your heart's content. The important thing is to line up your food intake with your not-so-intense level of activity during your treatment and healing. It will all sort itself out.

Emma had a great grad ceremony. (My god, I hate those things! It was so hot and stuffy in that auditorium and it seemed to go on and on forever!) TGIO! (Thank God it's over!)

Have a good night.

Good afternoon! I am having one of those days where I keep thinking it is Friday one day ahead of time. I just got back from the gym and feel good. My work outs are way less intense, but at least I am still moving and keeping active.

Catherine-Welcome! I joined this group in October of 08 and it has changed my life. I still have my moments and days where I binge eat, but I have support now and have to be accountable here for my actions. It is very freeing to talk about binge eating in a non-threatening and understanding environment. You are right-this is a manageable thing, a battle that can be won! Good luck:)

Bethany-glad it sounds like they have found something concrete in your imaging. I hope that the cortisone shot helps (if it does, would you then postpone surgery?).

Chance-enjoy your weekend with the girls! And don't second guess yourself on your success-you work hard at it and deserve it:)

Kristina-you can get it back-one day at a time!

I think we are in for some pretty intense weather this afternoon-although it still looks sunny to me. It would be nice for a storm to break the heat and humidity we have going on. It is just plain gross out!

Have a great night team!

Welcome Catharine!!!!

I got a rude surprise this morning when I stepped on the scale ~ 128.8. I have officially gained back every single one of the 18 pounds I lost on SP two summers ago. The bingeing needs to stop. Now.

Today I've done really well, and I'm biking tonight. So that's a good start.

Good afternoon! Today is day 17! I am so excited it's almost Friday because tomorrow night I'm driving to the beach (Delaware) with some grad school girlfriends I haven't seen in a long time.

Still doing well with the food and exercise. I feel like I found a happy balance but have no idea how I got here. Well, I guess I've been working on it for 18 years, but it still seems unreal.

Brandi - Have a great vacation!

Leslie - I'm sure your husband had good intentions, but don't you hate when they spend huge $$ without discussing! Hopefully you'll be able to use or give away everything, and you're right, that charity sounds like good karma :)

Bethany - great job at your parents'!

Lizz - this might be a stupid question, but have you ever tried making a physical barrier between you and food overnight? Like a chair in front of your door or something? It might be enough of a break in routine to wake you up a bit more.

Catherine - welcome!!

Catherine, welcome! We all feel your pain. Once I have more time, I would be happy to share with you some of the epiphanies that I've had and maybe that will help you in your journey.

For everyone else....So, I have an answer and a solution from the MRI results. There is a tear in my right hip joint cartilage. The solution is surgery, thankfully a minor, outpatient surgery. The doctor indicated I'd be back in the office probably a week later, on crutches and with some limitations, but back in the office. He's asked me to take one more measure before we decide together to have the surgery. He wants me to have a cortisone shot to see if that resolves the pain. If it does, then the tear is the sole culprit. If it doesn't, we'll need to do further scans on the area to see if other things are present. It looks like it will be a month before the cortisone doctor can see me, so I have plenty of time to plan and get my list of questions ready to make the decision.

Welcome, Catherine!

Way to go on Day 11, SMayer!

Yeah, Jolikey! You are back in the saddle! I just found a piece of bubble wrap. I drove my Emma crazy when I was popping it. I thoroughly checked it today to make sure I had popped them all! (I thought I was the only one!)

Yeah, Bethany for a good trip home. You will have that pound off in no time! Good luck with the Ortho!

Hi everyone, I am new to Spark People but have been perusing this page for a few weeks now. I have struggled with binge eating for about seven years now- almost a third of my life! About a year ago it got very bad, and I was bingeing about every 5 days. Within the past few months, I've managed to stretch the binge cycle back out to about every 15 days, which is actually a pretty big deal and a major relief!

I'm definitely in a better place than I have been in a long time and I feel very motivated, so instead of trying to do it all on my own like I have in the past I'm gonna try getting more support. Very few people in my life know about my problem, and I still don't like to talk to them about it because I don't want to be identified by that. I am a happy and vivacious girl who happens to have some food issues to work though! The more normalcy I can feel, the better. So I figured I'd share with you lovely understanding people instead :)

Many of your stories are very inspiring and very impressive. I truly do believe that binge eating disorder is something that can be worked though and managed with enough dedication.

Today is technically Day 5 for me, as the last time I binged was Saturday. Not that I am blaming the circumstances, but this bachelorette party had an OBSCENE amount of food going on. Combine that with drunken munchies at the end of the day and there you have it. It's weird because I hardly ever binge when others are around, but because I was riding the coattails of a binge from the day before, I was still in "who cares" mode.

Anyway, here's to Day 5! The last time I went 21 days was over a year ago. This will be a real challenge. Bring it on!

~Catherine~

So I guess I was well-behaved with my eating while I was at home! It looks like the scale went up only 1/2 lb, maybe 1 lb? It was hard to say. I felt a sense of relief and used a few moments to revisit what, when & how I ate while I was home and remind myself that this morning was the positive consequence from having not stuffed myself with food while I was home, and that had my actions been different, I would've been upset, disappointed, and beating myself up as I watched the scale climb again.

I'm excited that I will still look good in my dress this weekend for the wedding, and that I won't have to go buy something that hides a swollen tummy.

Off to the ortho!!! Someone send a prayer up to my man in the sky and tell him Bethany needs a SOLUTION to this issue, but please be specific and let him know that we want the solution to be non-serious, permanent, and definitive (not trail and error or "I don't know what we can do for you").

Day 10 - binge-free!

Good morning, sparkers!

I am grateful that I brought a healthy lunch and snacks in the car trip to the City with my mother. We got a lot of her business done and opened her cottage. I did a lot of cleaning of fixtures and sweeping, and setting up her new lawn chairs, etc. It was actually kind of fun doing housework in someone else's place!...considering I avoid my own a lot!

Today, I am taking the doggies for a walk in the rain and doing some sorting at home. I have a mediation late afternoon, and then will rush to pick up my mother and attend Emma's grade 9 graduation ceremony for 7. I will eat supper before I leave for my mediation and carry a protein snack with me.

My foodplan is in place. Have a great day, folks.

Still Binge Free. Leaving in 6 hours to visit University of Pittsburgh with my daughter. I have my snacks packed.

Lizz- have you tried putting any type of bell on the refrigerator, or just not have anything in the frig to eat? I know that there are certain things that I cannot just have in my house.

hey all,
well just not eating like i want to. Felt really hungry today..and ate during the night..of course..
Givin it another shot tonight.. i have a bunch of notes on my refrigerator to remind the half a-sleep part of me..that its just not a good decision.
The rest of this week is going to require some very sensible eating..as I will be spending it with Scott and I want to look good...

Just trying to battle my mental struggles on day at a time..I think the most important battle is battling my night eating..so i know i just need to focus on this..and then focus on actually losing weight later.. i know this is a long process..and I can't start skipping steps just because I'm so close to breaking out of these chains my history of eating disorders..I've come a very far way but still have plenty of work to do!

Oh, yeah, Bethany, we understand about the damn scale. We all know it shouldn't determine anything in our lives, and yet...

I feel so much more "normal" about food than I did last year, but I know I am only part way there because today I was standing behind a young man in the college dining room where my workshop is being held and I was caught between fascination, envy, and disgust at his plate. He had a fried chicken sandwich (ciabatta roll- big chunks of breading sticking out over the edge) that covered half the plate and the other half was...French fries! There may have been a pickle slice, but I think that was the only green and no sign of anything fresh. Of course, he was slim and trim. What is that like????

I've had an attack of "lack-of-relationship-sadness." Don't worry; I know it's temporary. And I'm feeling frustrated because this workshop is not what I thought it was going to be, and I'm wondering if I should have been in the one next door that I had an option to attend. I thought I asked the right questions to make sure I was in the right place, but it's not working out. I prefer not to dwell on it as it just makes me think I just expect too much in general.

I came home around 4:15 and it was all I could do to wait until 5:45 to eat. I was just barely hungry for dinner. I had my one plate of food, but I felt like I heaped the black beans pretty high. Actually, it was just about a cup of beans with an ounce of cheese and about 2 oz. of ground buffalo. The rest of the plate was all raw plants. I'm choosing not to call it a binge since I didn't wolf it and it had a beginning and end, but it reminded me of more desperate days.

Sounds like lots of people are doing well.

Whewwwww! Back at my own home now! I am glad that I didn't binge or overeat at my parents. Last night dinner was larger than I'd have, but nothing unhealthy or in a bad quantity. In hindsight, I wish I would've only eaten half my steak, but it's ok to indulge sometimes.

The chips were calling me though, even today. Thank God mom and I spent the day away from home, so I wasn't surrounded by food all day. We ate lunch at Panera, and I chose the chips as my side. I figured, you like chips, allow yourself to have some, and this way, it's in a controlled serving size, plus you'll be full from your 1/2 salad and 1/2 sandwich. And I was.

Tomorrow morning, MRI results with the ortho, and I step on the scale. A part of me is overly concerned about the number temporarily going up a pound or two just b/c I ate outside of my norm for a 24 hour period. I need to learn to accept it for what it is...temporary! But it feels good to openly say my fears to you all and know that you're not judging or thinking I'm crazy for being afraid of the scale!

Hey everyone! And congrats to ShannonSnail! Can't wait to hear all about it!

I continue to log my calories to the best of my ability. I weighed in this AM and I am up 1.5 lbs from last week (last week didn't gain any weight). The avg weight gain for me should be about 1lb a week, so I feel okay w/ how this is all going. I am up 8.5 lbs at 17 weeks pregnant. My goal is to gain 25-35 pounds, I think I am pacing okay for that goal. It is weird b/c normally when I gain weight my face and arms bulk up too, but they look exactly the same. It is the tummy, butt, and thighs that are feeling the brunt of this! I am going to Target this wknd to buy some maternity work pants. My khakis have no give and the hair tye trick works only so-so. I also have to look for a maternity bathing suit, which sounds about as fun as a lobotomy, lol!

Thanks for everyone's advice and kind words regarding some of my religious issues surrounding starting a family. While I feel calmly about DH and I's choices, it is a hot topic for the fam!

Monkeyshortz-I am like you-the same old work out gets tiresome after awhile. I always try to mix it up to stay intersted be it a hike, walk, run, work out video, or class, if your gym offers classes. Having a goal like a marathon can be very inspiring. I have known people to train for sprint distance triathalons if all that running is not appealing to you (and as I continue reading, I see Kristina recs this too!).

Kristina-enjoy your swimming lesson!

Bethany-So glad to hear you are doing well at home, even with that dreaded chip cabinet staring you in the face! You are a new woman!

DKZephir-great to recognize that food will not fix any of those stressful situations!

Jamie420-walking out of that store would be tough for me, way to go! It can be easier just to go with a less healthy option in that case, but you did great.

Chance-good luck at finding a balance btwn tracking and just eating healthy/binge free. I hear you on the big ol' lunches comment. I eat a large volume of food each day as well. It is healthy, but a lot!

So DH has lost his mind. He went to a charity event that had a silent auction the other night and comes home with ARMLOADS of baby stuff-including a freakin' stroller! Apparently he was the high bidder. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but he bid a fair amount of money for all of this stuff that is nice, but isn't exactly what we need/want. I am just looking at it as a charitable donation. The cause was for children w/ congential heart defects, which effects 1 in 100 children, so our karma is good right now! I, on the other hand have panic attacks about finances on the regular! There has to be a happy middle!

Hope everyone has a great and binge free night!

Congratulations ShannonSnail!!!! I can't wait to hear all about your new little one :).

Yesterday was binge-y. Day 1 today.

Chance ~ what you are describing sounds perfect! I feel best, and in the best control, when I don't track and eat what is healthy and tasty. Glad you broke out of your workout rut!

Another busy day taking children to swimming lessons, violin lessons, and running to the store. Summer seems busier than the school year at times.

Good morning my favorite team! I'm sailing through day 16 today.

I haven't been tracking food for the last 2 weeks, and it's working well for me. I'm at my lowest weight since last August. I'm happy about this, but also worried because I feel like I've been here before. Not tracking works for me... until it doesn't. I want to monitor what I'm eating so that I recognize when I start to slip, but then I start obsessing about it just as much as when I was tracking. For now my goal is just to eat healthful, nutritious food everyday. And I want to enjoy feeling thin (for me) without thinking about it TOO much and self sabotaging. And I won't think about self-sabotage so much that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Phew! I wish I had a normal relationship with food and my body, haha!

I think I broke out of my workout rut! I joined the gym near my work. I plan on canceling after the free 1 month trial (I am already under contract at a gym closer to home), but for now the fresh, new classes and convenient location are exciting :) I went twice yesterday! Lunchtime Zumba and evening "chisel" weight training class.

Smeyers - I hope everything went smoothly with the sono!!

Nicole - emoticon remember, food is not comfort.

Monkey - I agree with Kristina - registering for a race always motivates me! I love having a training plan down on paper. Even if I need to change it, or if I can only stick to it 75% of the time, I love knowing that each run (or whatever workout) is preparing me for the next one.

DK - sorry to hear about the rough day. How smart of you to go study somewhere without tempting food!

Bethany - great job staying in control at your family's place. Hope the tum feels better!

Carissa - so glad you love the flowers! You earned them!!

Oohlala - way to go on 19 days!!

Ranjani - woohoo for day 1! that's the toughest one for me!

Wow for ShannonSnail! I can't wait to hear the details.

Bethany -- Good work on losing another pound!

Dkzephir -- Hang in there and congrats on Day 1 despite your stress

Carissa -- Enjoy your flowers...I think learning to enjoy and give ourselves little rewards is really important.

Jamie -- good job getting out of the store !! emoticon

Oolala -- I love yams and was happy the last time I cooked them because they were large and I just ate 1/2 yam for a serving. (I've always considered the whole yam as one serving before.) Day 19 -- great!!

Reggie - Keep up the good work!

Ranini -- Hang in there!

Day 9 - binge-free!

Oh Wow! Shannonsnail is a mommy! What great news and what a surprise!

I am going off to another city today with my mother to open her cottage and get my annual pap test at my doctors'. I am not going to have time to walk the dogs, which I shall leave to Emma since she is home from school today. I do have loading and unloading to do of lawn chairs and other paraphenalia for my mother, including climbing up circular stairs with said chairs when we get to the cottage!

My foodplan is in place. I am taking a lunch to avoid getting into the "I deserve to eat this fattening thing because I am on the road" thinking! Yeah to Bethany on the loss of another pound, and yeah to the newbies who are getting in some BF days!

Have a great day, sparkers!
Ta, Reggie

Sorry for not giving much attention to the team. I've been in a workshop the past two days and will be thre rest of the week.

Tonight I baked a supply of chicken legs and small yams. I had some for dinner and I was tempted to eat some more later because I didn't feel full full full. I got involved in a phone conversation and then looking at my email. Now I'm fine without eating anything more.

Day 19 BF complete.
