Hi Debbie...I haven't tried my Cowboy Candy yet, but having it with cream sheese and crackers sounds lovely!

Last evenings dinner was chicken croquettes from the freezer and my au gratin potatoes...
The potatoes did not thicken but they tasted SOOO Good...I added some left over bacon from the frig.
I have to check out some more recipes to see if there is a suggestion of a thickener.

Hi All...
Last evening, I went shopping in my freezer and pantry...
Made Chopped sirloin with mashed potatoes, gravy with onions and canned corn
Beef from freezer, corn and beef broth (mine), onions and potatoes I grew, my garlic powder...
The only thing that was store bought was the seasoned salt and flour to thicken the gravy !!!

I put together a meal of Rosemary/Orange Lamb Cutlets with the lamb in the freezer, my breadcrumbs I did plus some of the Orange Zest I froze from our Oranges. Some mashed potatoes, grilled tomatoes and some home grown peas frozen a few months ago.

This is my first year having Honey Crisp Apples, they are awesome.

Tonight we didn't know what to have for dinner, so I pulled a bunch of stuff from the freezer.

We had Zucchini Sticks, Teriyaki Meatballs, Popcorn Chicken, for me Jalapeno Poppers for everyone else Sweet Pepper Poppers. Everything but the Popcorn Chicken was homemade.

Oh, Aren't Honey Crisp Apples the BEST !!!!???
I have 1 left...that's one apple and I'm having it for lunch today before it goes bad...

Today is making a big pot of chili with frozen ground meat, my canned beans, and diced tomatoes, dried onions, my homemade chili spice blend and tomato powder.

Last nights dinner was a dinner of frozen ravioli bake and my canned sauce.

This week we used Lasagna, Garlic Bread, the kids used frozen fruits with yogurt for breakfast, also made some Apricot Juice I canned this summer, I used some dehydrated fruit in my oatmeal, jam on toast, chicken thighs stuffed with homemade Pesto and Laughing Cow Cheese, breaded with homemade breadcrumbs ans served with roasted baby potatoes. Slow-cooked Pork Loin Roast studded with garlic and cooked with both local Honey Crisp Apples and Onions. Soft Tacos using wraps I bought at the farm stand.

Nope, just down the back veranda where it has not a lot of light normally. The trick is to keep them damp not wet, you usually have to spray them with spray water bottles. It's funny they grow all over the place outside but as soon as you try to grow anything inside it suddenly seems like a hard thing to do.

Yep, just the plain old white mushies, but I have had my eye on the packs for Sh!takes and Oyster mushrooms.

They are pretty easy to grow and the spawn is available at the larger hardware stores.

I had to modify the word Sh!take because stupid Sparks thinks I'm swearing.

Nothing special here, I pulled some fillet steak from the freezer and made Peppered steak, picked another feed of Broad beans from the couple of plants that sprouted on the edge of the compost heap and grilled some of our mushrooms we have growing.

For dinner I pulled out some Stir-Fry Veg I froze earlier this year. Then for dessert I pulled a Cheesecake out of the freezer too, instead of just plain cheesecake I topped it with some melted chocolate chips mixed with a little rice milk (we are out of regular milk), and some homemade Caramel Sauce.

It's way too hot here to be cooking cakes and cookies, more's the pity. But it's probably a good idea that it is too hot, I have a tendency of nibbling on home made stuff.

Linda, I have such a hard time figuring out what cookies to make for Christmas, since there are only 6 people here for the holidays. I can't coordinate with my family for pick up if I bake for them. Last year I had to cut my baking way down and only baked the truely Christmassy things. I think I still ended up doing 5 kinds still, and I have a hard time doing only 1 batch of each.

Last year I made Gingerbread, Shortbread, Sugar Cookies, Candy Cane Cookies and Fruitcake Drops.

I have been digging up my favorite recipes. Soon we will be starting to get some of our Christmas baking done. We need to start our Christmas cake soon. Before we make the batter, we get the fruit ready, and soak it for a few days in brandy. It makies it very yummy, when we do that.
I also want to figure out what type of cookies to make this year. I will make our favorite Gingerbread people, sugar cookies, and shortbread. I do not know what others we will make tho.

Yeah it is a Pumpkin recipe, I used potatoes instead. I originally doubled the recipe using 4 cups diced potatoes and ended up with 6 loaves, so for a single recipe use 2 cups, and get 3 loaves.

Tammy, on your tablet, Find your recipe.
On the recipe, press your figure on the screen for a few seconds.
The copy icon will show up where you were pressing.
And A box with dots.
Those dots let you spread the box over the area you want to copy.
Just put your figure on a dot and move it by sliding your figure over the screen.
When you get the area in the box, press the word copy.
Come to SP and press your figure on the screen for a few seconds where you want to paste it.
The paste icon will come up. Press on the word paste.
Voila !!!!
Can you tell I really want your recipe ????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I made my soup today...Finally...
Used the carcus of the chicken from dinner last evening and some chicken parts from the freezer...
More from the freezer...Carrots, celery, grated zucchini, cabbage, Italian Wedding Soup meatballs, parsley, parsnip, green beans and parmesiano reggiono rinds.
So Nice to get all of that out of the freezer !
All this made about 2 gallons of soup...

Got rid of a bunch of small packages from my freezer...

I feel for your daughter, tooth pain is one of the worse kinds of pain. I've got a face ache from my second root canal treatment on Monday and I'm feeling so so as well.

I pulled out another jar of my Blackberry jelly that everybody had on some crusty toast after a slap up meal on Tuesday night after the grocery shopping. I think I'll pull out my frozen blackberries and make up another batch of jelly, it's a good jelly to have on hand and you can use it in savoury dishes as well as sweet.

Peace and long life - Jules

I was in town all day, on less than 4 hours broken sleep. My older DD was in pain all night from her tooth, so I brought her in to either go to the walk-in clinic or the dentist. We got an appointment with the dentist, but had over 4 hours to wait. We went window shopping. After our last stop I called hubby and asked him to throw some thing in the oven. He put in 2 pans of Turkey Casserole. I got to take a nap when I got home.

We are going to use some of our canned turkey stock, and make some cauliflower cheese soup for dinner today.
We had some homemade jam on our toast for breakfast. emoticon

I opened a jar on my apples and simmered it with some of our homemade maple syrup and cinnamon...
For lunch/mid afternoon dinner with the neighbors...we had brats and beans, simmered apples, my refrigerator bread and butter pickles and cabbage, bacon and onions.
I surely would not plan that kind of menu...but that's what came together !

One of our favorite deserts backpacking was dried apple slices sometimes with some cranberries too simmered until tender and a package of half of a gingerbread mix made up and dropped by the spoonful on top then cover and allow to steam about 20 minutes. yum! tasted so good on the trail.
I still have a large stash of backpacking food in the freezer that we made up with our dried foods, it can be very creative and so much better then the stuff you buy.

We harvested carrots yesterday, my DD made 24 Carrot Cupcakes and a Round cake, all topped with Cream Cheese Frosting. We froze the cake.

I pulled a bag of pumpkin puree from the freezer and made Pumpkin Cookies.

At lunch hubby, younger DD, and DS had Beef, Bean and Cheese Burritos I made last weekend.

Hopefully I'll be doing my version of the Cabbage Rolls using my Collards tomorrow (depending on how much I'm outside in the garden). If it looks good I'll post some pics.

A lot of the things I can go into Christmas packages to our Kids who are scattered to the 4 winds. Other than that the things I freeze & can go into meals throughout the year.

2 days ago, I made some zucchini muffins, from some shredded frozen zucchini that I had in my freezer. Yesterday Mom made us some nice turkey vegetable soup with dumplings for lunch, from some of the soup stock we had made from the turkey carcass and stored away.

In the next few days, I am planning to make some pumpkin loaves, from some of our pumpkin puree. Tomorrow I am planning to make some nice stew in our crock pot, from some buffalo meat that I have frozen in our freezer, and some of the nice vegetables that are stored in our cold-room, in our basement.
