Monday Morning...dark, dreary, want to crawl into my gopher hole. Had a hard weekend, system all messed up, fluid way up, shortness of breath, rib pain, everything that goes with the heart issues and of course my weight chart is above my goal line. Still showing a loss but dropped from 65% of meeting my 1st goal to 37% and need to lose 7 lbs of this excess to get back to goal time. I guess I can take comfort in knowing I know what it is, but I can feel the true struggle I will have today is not chucking it all and giving in to eating the comfort foods. But its Monday and we forge on. It will get better...it will get better... "Oh bother!" ~ Winnie the Pooh

Thanks, Sandy. I couldn't get it to hold, but it is not that big of a deal to change it each time I look at the report. Good news, even with the fluid fluctuations, the report is showing I am overall on track with the goal line loss. Left foot right foot...everyday. lol

HI RAINE! GREAT for you in losing slow, but steady.. NOTHING wrong with that! I know the ups and downs are frustrating though.. I'm experiencing a lot more of that lately myself.

There IS a way to reset your start date... I THINK if you go here:
www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/
weight_edi
t.asp

You can change what you need to change.. I think.. And it may have to be done from a desktop or laptop computer. I've found the options are different on cell phones versus desktops.

Along those lines, I've found the Sparkpeople app insufficient on my cell phone.. Can't find a link to the communities there at all!! SO, I end up having to get on a different computer to come here for the group. That MAY be some of the reasons so many of the forums here seem to be dying off.. many of them are.. some that have been very active before. I know from dealing with my websites, the MAJORITY of website accesses are through mobile devices these days, so a site really has to be mobile optimized. Sparkpeople has their app, but it doesn't allow certain functions, so it's not really that great as far as apps go. It lets you track things, and read /respond to a general feed, but not to easily access community groups

With my Fitbit, I got a USB Bluetooth dongle that I stuck in the USB drive for my PC for syncing my Fitbit to the website data. With that, you don't have to have a cell phone. I don't know if all fitbits come with that dongle, but I like having mine! I did end up putting the app on my smartphone. However, I still have the dongle plugged into my PC for syncing without my phone.

Sorry I'm spotty about getting on here!! We've just had a LOT going on. I do aim to check in daily, but I'm doing my tracking with the phone app and have to go to my PC to get to the group! .. That AND, I NEVER get email announcements when someone posts anymore.. I used to get them, and rechecked my settings to supposedly get the notifications, but they are NOT working! ~ That probably contributes to inactivity in the group too. BUMMER!

Hope you're having an awesome week!

Good Morning Guys,

Still tracking and trying. This fluid is such a pain, I make strides and then bam, weight goes up, go through 3-4 days of increases, then bam, weight comes back down. Yesterday though I reviewed all my numbers and I'm still at 1.77 avg loss per week. Which is my goal, losing only 1-2 lbs/week. Trying to do this right with something I can live with long term.

Regarding tracking. Do you guys know how to change the report date permanently? I started tracking 08/02. When I track my weight, the calendar run report date comes up as February, and I have to click it to the right date. Is there someway to save the new date, so I do no have to adjust it each time I log in?

I still haven't bought a tracker. Everything wants my cell phone and I only have a work cell and can't put personal on it.

Well off to finish getting ready for work. Have a great day ladies!

~Raine

HI Raine!

I'm currently using a Fitbit and like it because it syncs well with the app on my phone. Previously, I had a Polar fitness tracker, which tracked heartrate, etc., but not steps! I liked it just fine for what it did, and it was still functioning well when I got this Fitbit.

I JUST ordered a new tracker for each of the boys.. supposed to track both steps and heart-measures. They were fairly inexpensive, so I'm hoping they aren't CHEAP! LOL!

My Fitbit has been acting up a lot lately, so I've been considering getting something else and would also like for it to track steps, sleep, exercise, BP, and heart rate. I haven't started researching yet, but would also be interested in what others use and love! :-D

That said, I've been soooo eratic about my diet lately!! GREAT for several days, then LOUSY for a couple of days!! I gotta get my act together! LOL!

That it is, Sandy! I'm back tracking, struggling with medical decisions. I miss this thread when it was active with so many. I hopped on a few of the past recent threads, but for some reason, the communication thread would stop when I posted, so I stopped posting. I hope my being here doesn't deter the others. I'm sure it was coincidence.

Thinking of buying another fit bit. I want something that will track not just steps, but BP and heart rate. I had one of the clip on ones (I don't wear jewelry so I am uncomfortable with those ugly bulky watch types) but it fell apart and it didn't seem to sinc well with sparks. I also did not find their own site for data very user friendly. I loved the old sparks tracker that would log into sparks. Would love any suggestions of what has worked for people. I should note that another challenge I have when selecting a tracker is that I do not have a personal cell phone, which many run their apps on; I only have my work cell and can't put personal stuff on it. Thanks for any suggestions.

Keep up the good work Sandy! A shout out to Holly as well and all of the 'ole MWHPL's!

~Raine

SO GLAD to see you stopped by, Raine! I'm checking in semi-regularly right now and tracking DAILY! I'm working hard on making my health as good as I can, but admit I'm not making a lot of progress with actual weight loss. I'm feeling better though, and exercising regularly!

It's an ONGOING journey! ;-)

There have been so many great woman on this board over the past at least 5 years that I've been around, with much struggle, pain, sharing, tears...and then growth, self awareness, love and oh, the friendships made.

Well, that's part of why I was asking what people want. There's new women arechecking this board out, so I'd love to hear form them. If we can gear it to what the women are looking for today, then maybe we can have a livelier community here!

Plus, Holly, I think some of our long-term members, like you and Cindi, who have done exceptionally well, would be a great inspiration to others!
