Thanks, Jen, I'm hopeful this one will want to stay, I think she will be capable she just needs time to adjust from being in charge to having to take direction. The good news is once she understands what we need to do, I do not believe in hoovering over someone's shoulder, I expect them to do what the have to do to get it done as long as it fits within the paremeters of what the Board set out; thus, in a way, you are your own boss. We shall see.

Holly, I think we would be dangerous together, but oh so much fun. Glad your holiday plans are falling into schedule for you.

Jan - good for you. It's like we all need at least one person on the board who guilts the rest of us into moving. Keep going, you're getting me there, just a little more Jan and I will feel I have to get back on track,...keep showing us up...you'll get us there...hee hee...ok I think you got the joke...lol. Seriously, though, so proud of you. Good for you.

I came to work early. DH's work has their Christmas party this afternoon and I would like to leave at least by 4:00 for a change. Splitting headache, problems with the one let go...but...

IT IS THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS SEASON DAY OUT THERE! THE SNOW IS GENTLY FALLING....THE LIGHTS ARE UP EVERYWHERE....GOD IS IN HIS GLORY AS HE IS ABOUT TO BE THE PROUD FATHER OF A BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY! You know, I've never thought about Christmas from that angle...God as the expectant Father, pacing in the waiting room, full of excitement and joy that His Son is about to be born!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! ENJOY THIS TIME! IT REALLY IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!

LOVE YOU ALL,
-Raine emoticon emoticon emoticon

I hope you are all well. I'm going to come on and read postings tomorrow when I'm more rested.

I hope you are all well. Here's to a happy & healthy Christmas!

Hi Divas!
Shouting a big hello to everyone!

Holly, it sounds like you're crazy/busy. BTW... Dave DOES remember that cake, and he's eagerly anticipating his bit blast from the past on Saturday. ;-)

Jan - I'm glad things are settling down in terms of school.

Sock - I hope you can stay crisp and dry as well as soggy. Great job on the exercise! It sounds like you're getting some mojo back.

Raine, I hope that you find someone who you can be in sync with! I'm glad you have an extra pair of hands now, though.

Claire, glad you're at the home stretch in terms of school.

We have our big party on Saturday and I'm woefully behind, but determined to catch up. Somehow, hahahaha! I do have a lot planned out, but the house itself is just not coming together. My motivation is ZIP.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday!

Hugs,
Jen

Good Thursday Morning! Another night meeting. Work is crazy busy and I am hoping to take Friday off...yeah right. The first new girl did not work out, this second one, has skills, but I don't think she will stay, even though she has been without work and readily admits there is nothing out there that pays what she got 2 yrs prior to her old job cutting her pay back, and even though our board has increased the salary again, yes, you would want the job - I think, she is not committing. I think its because she wants a job where she is the boss. Which is also silly, because the way we work is my assistant has a job and I make her responsible for it, not over her shoulder unless she needs help/direction etc. Oh well. It's a pair of extra hands to get through the end of the year.

Got a beautiful Christmas card last night in the mail...from my hubby. As crazy as life has been, we've really been able to enjoy the Christmas holiday itself. He keeps asking where are we going to church Christmas Eve. I just cannot believe how fast the time since Thanksgiving has flown!

Enjoy this time everyone. Enjoy every busy second of it. and...

A big Woo Hoo! to all those of you how are able to continue exercising. My body seems to be coming back from the cripple stage and I hope to get back into something soon. Each time I read what one of you have done, it kicks my psychy in the butt to say, I have got to get downstairs and workout too. Thanks.

Have a great day everyone.
-Raine

Sock, you sound like you're doing so much and enjoying (almost) all of it! Wooohooo!!!

Wendy - have a lovely, lovely time with your Sis.

Holly - loved the story about your name, and glad your mom didn't name you Bunny. ;-)

Leslie - are you just filled with concerts right now?

Jan - that's quite the commute! I used to think Vancouver was my dream city, but I hate icky driving. That makes me less jealous.

Well, still struggling with eating, but doing well with exercise. It helps.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday!

Wendy congrats on the new job and the fortitude!!

OK people wonder how i can bake so much and not eat it. its the ACT of baking that i love. Yeah the stuff i make is all good..but i've had it for years, the smell lets me remember the taste, and Trident gum is my friend. I tell myself these are my "bread and butter" per se...did i steal money out of the bank till when i was a bank teller? nope..wouldnt think of it..so why would i steal from the people i'm baking for?
works for me...but i think what works best is telling myself if i have any its double workout. i so detest exercise..that does it ever time..

Drippy Sock reporting in... (just finished riding the e-bike)

Holly, those mice cookies on your blog are so cute! And that's a cool story about your name, too!

Wendy, hope you have a wonderful, wonderful time with your sis. Don't stay away too long after she leaves. Sure, we'll continue on but we'll miss you!

Jen, that's very cool about your son! Woohoo!!!!!

Claire, I echo the congrats on the concert. I'm sure it was a very moving experience.

Leslie, that's very cool about the good news from the doc. Way to go!!!

Mana, where are you???

Raine, how are you?

Jan, I admire you and everyone else here who can do holiday baking. I will admit I'm having a really tough time with treats this holiday season, so there's definitely no baking in my house this year (I live alone so I can do that). Stay strong and keep your end goal in the front of your mind as you bake.

As for me, I'm doing a 28-day bootcamp challenge here on Spark to help focus on winter exercise. So far it's working (3 days so far). My left foot is still bugging me a bit after the 5k, but it's better than overnight. A friend of mine recommended someone to help with feet/shoe issues and never sent me the name/contact info, so I sent her an email tonight to remind her. The feet definitely need to be better if I'm going to do all these events next year.

Time to wind down. Apparently I'm helping in a skit at a potluck at work tomorrow...absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but we'll find out soon enough.

Hugs to the divas!!

Hi lovely ladies,

Wendy - Enjoy this special time with your sister! Congrats again on the new job. It sounds like it's starting off on a great note. Yup, that's what we are ... food addicts. It's a good thing to just be up front about. I had to do something similar a few weeks ago. Another teacher at the school had a new chocolate snack that was in little 100 calories bags. She must of asked me 10 times to try one, try one, try one ... finally I said, "I just can't have one. It's chocolate and I know that one will push me over the edge." Thank goodness she stopped after that.

Leslie - Congrats on the great dr. check up! :) *woohoo*

Holly - Thank you for sharing the sweet story about your name. :) I'm loving the little Santa cookies with the marshmallow trim on the hat! So cute! The mice are adorable too.

Jen - How wonderful for your son!!! Congratulations to him (and you!) That is such exciting news. :) I live in a suburb outside of Vancouver, BC. There are a whole lot of little cities and they have all grown together into one BIG city. So the commute into Vancouver is non stop city driving really and always busy. There is never a quiet time although rush hour is a nightmare - it's just busy at other times of the day and night. If you are lucky - 45 minutes. It can take 2 or 3 hours if it's really bad. Ugh!

Claire - I'm so glad to hear that the concert went well. That is wonderful - it must have been an incredibly moving experience to hear David singing and then to have his daughter sing as well ... wow! How neat to be able to share it with your father and your DH too. :)

Socks - how are your feet? I hope you've recovered! My feet ache for you! Congrats on finishing the 5K. I noticed you put up a blog about it so I'll read that after I finish up here.

I only have 3 more days of school and then Christmas holidays start! I'm ready for a break. I am a bit worried about starting the Christmas baking for fear that I won't be able to control myself and my eating. I think I'll be okay though, I'll just have to constantly give myself pep talks and I'll track super carefully. Cross finger & toes!

I hope everyone has a great week! Fa la la la la la la la la!

I will be awol for a while since my dear dear sister is coming to the freezer state Ohio for a short visit. Its been ten years since she has been here and is coming for snow (see not just Holly likes it) but then she has never been in it, just seen pix.

I started the new job today. Already know them, the clients and staff so it was like going to a relatives house. Same people just differnt stuff to do. I am the boss. So I love it even more. The guy training me today said after I signed some papers I would be his boss. Wow. weird. The first day.

Someone brought a huge box of homemade chocolate dipped pretzals into my office and was beaming for me to try them. I kindly said they look scrumptious but I am a food addict. If I have one I will manage to search them out and eat them all before the day ends. She took them away in a hurry and probably hid them. te he. No more problem. No one argues with an addict!

I read your posts and wish I had time to comment but I have to sweep and polish and spiff or my sis just may not stay with me.... not. Still I wanna make a good impression.

I love you and will miss not checking in but I kniw you will go on without me for a bit.

Good Morning Divas!
Sock, congrats on the 5K!
Jan - what a lovely evening out. It sounds like you had great time seeing your son, too. Where IS downtown for you?
Wendy - you sound like you're in a fabulous place. Keep on track, Lady!
Claire - what a wonderful tribute to your dear friend. It sounds like a beautiful experience.
Mana - where are you??
I don't think I shared this yet - our big news is that Con got into his top choice college, along with a hefty merit scholarship, so it looks like this is going to fly. Needless to say, we're all walking on air. It's such a huge relief.
Claire, I hate to say this, but we both have snow days today. ;-) Actually, for me it was sort of a pain because today was our big semester presentation day and I had meetings and other important things scheduled all day and I worked a good chunk of the weekend prepping. And. it's. all. been. canceled. Permanently. They can't reschedule it at this point. Sigh. I'm trying to get constructive, but all I want to do is read!

Have a wonderful Monday!

The concert was GREAT! We had on our games faces (the show must go on!) but there were tears at the end. They played the recording of David singing "Happy Christmas" ("For David, by David" waas the way our director put it). His daughter Hillary sang his part (as well as The St. Francis Prayer ealier in the concert which was also moving). All in all, a great concert. My sweet DH brought my 95 yo father. It was a good day......

I read an article in O this weekend that has strategies to reach your goal -- I will post more about it later. Gotta get ready for my last week of school!!

Hi, everybody! Thanks for the comments about my not being such a slacker, but I have been...not exercising as much as I used to and it's showing. Time to quit goofing off!

Did my 5K race today, walking the distance in 52 minutes 29 seconds. It was a hard one today because I haven't exercised much the past couple of weeks, plus the new walking shoes I got aren't as "cushiony" as I'm accustomed to so my feet felt like they were pounded today, especially the left one. I'll definitely need to do more work on the shoes and the feet.

Claire, I hope your concert went okay today. It must be so hard with your friend gone as suddenly as he was.

Jen, I hope you find your balance soon and that you figure out a schedule or something that helps. It's hard this time of year with all the holiday and family activities.

Wendy, you are so rocking!! And I really like your new picture -- pretty!

Jan, it sounds like a lovely evening with the trip to town and the show and dinner.

Holly, I love looking at the pictures of your cakes. You are sooooo talented and make some really pretty ones!

That's all my feeble mind can remember at the moment. LOL! I hope all the divas are having a good weekend and that the week ahead is a good one.

Hugs!

Happy Sunday, everyone,

We had such a lovely evening out last night. We drove downtown (about a 45-60 minute drive, depending on the traffic) and went out for dinner. Then a drive around for a while looking at all the city lights. Our son was a lead character in the play - Pip, the satyr. Mask and all. He carried off the role in a Jim Carrey like frenzy. It's funny because he's quite quiet and conservative until he gets up on stage. Lots of fun.

Wendy - it sounds like you're in a really neat place right now. It's such a busy time of year and we have so much to do, don't we? I'm actually a little worried about the temptations that are always around too. I've had to take the "nothing at all" route for now. It's easy now but I don't think it will be as easy as we get closer to Christmas. I'm going to try to focus really hard on keeping within my calorie range. So if I want a treat or like you, know that there will be lots at a certain party, I will have to try to plan for it in my calories. I've decided to take Christmas Day itself "off" though and just relax about it all. I've also planned to keep up with some fitness activity (somehow, anyhow) everyday.

Jen - I hope you've got your balance back. :) It's just so hard at this time of year when we are pulled in so many different directions. Don't beat yourself up about it. I don't like the expression *Whateverrrrrrr* but we might just have to start saying it to ourselves with the appropriately added "eye roll" when we stumble a bit over the next 2 weeks.

Claire - I hope the Concert went well today. It must have been a difficult, emotional time for everyone involved. xoxo

Socks - Delinquent? Good grief, you are nothing but AMAZING! I hope the 5K went well!

Holly - You are perfectly named! :) I'm off to see if you've posted a blog with more pictures of your creations right now!

Hello to all the other divas. I hope you are happy & healthy!

Its a fact that no one can compete with our Frontier Woman. The amazing and always cheerful Holly. With the perfect name for the season. I'm so happy that all that snow is giving you the climate that you love.

Its been a perfect season for me. I have decided to stay light as a feather and let nothing get me down. The schedule I set for myself is giving those around me pause but I am taking it all in stride. Like a bride with a perfect plan but it lasts a month. I have shown up on time with the correct food and clothing. That alone has been a feat. Last night was our Muddy Buddy party and it was a hoot. DH got a remote control Jeep and he has run the batteries down on it. He is a big kid.

Now I rest for the next phase. New job in the am then sis coming in on Tuesday. Next week we pack the entire family up and head to the Smokey Mountains for Christmas. Whew. New Years I get to sleep all weekend!

I have done exceptional on the wagon but feel worried like I am heading into a tight mountain pass on a ricky wheel. I have a record of falling off real easy then I am sunk. I cant afford to do that or the diabetes monster will catch up to me.

I have kept nothing tempting in my house but next Sunday is our Open house with 60 souls showing up with goodies. Arrgh. Just one treat can send me into a binge. Strategies please. Anyone else feeling the nerves?

Happy Sunday, Everyone!

Claire, I'm so sorry to hear about David. I'm sure today will be very emotional for all of you.

Jan and Wendy - congrats on your Mad Sparking! Wooohooo! Wendy that new picture is truly gorgeous. Truly. No saggy skin to my view.

Holly - you are truly amazing - I don't know how anyone ever keeps up with you. I have some cookie making on the agenda today, too, but not 15 kinds.

Sock - good luck on the 5K today! That hardly seems like you're slacking.

I AM slacking... but not apologetic about it. Today is the day I regain control - I really need to regroup. It's been too hectic and I'm going to find balance today.

I hope everyone has the Sunday of their dreams.

Hugs,
Jen

Busy weekend. Choir concert today. I'm not sure how they/we are going to do the things that David was an integral part of. His daughter sang them in our last rehearsal when he was in the hospital. Wish me luck, Divas!

Divas! Delinquent Sock reporting in. emoticon

Without trying to catch up, it sounds like everyone is pretty busy with holiday activity and/or the general craziness that happens this time of year. And some folks are totally on fire with their Spark programs -- Jan and Wendy come to mind -- and that is so inspiring for me!

Seems like I've been slacking since the bike season ended and it's been hard to switch back to an indoor exercise routine. Today I joined a 28-day bootcamp forum and am going to see if that helps me focus more on the indoor activities again. I have a big boatload of activities I want to do next year (already registered for some of them), and I need to keep working my program to get in shape (seven bike rides, two sprint triathlons, four duathlons, and seven 5K races).

Perhaps I need to see a psychiatrist as well. emoticon

Speaking of 5K races, I have one tomorrow, so it's time to wind down and set ready for bed. Sweet dreams, divas!

Hi girlies,

I moved up to the Advanced Program level on the Stationary Bike this morning! *pant pant* It went well - so excited. Heading downtown tonight to see our oldest son at the closing night of the play "Tales from the Toadstool." What fun!

Nothing else to report. I hope everyone is having a happy and healthy weekend.

emoticon I've got the same saggy chin skin! I guess I will learn to love it! I can walk up the stairs without holding onto the railing and I can tie up my shoes without a major production - so a little saggy chin skin? That's okay!

Congrats on the walks - it is just like brushing your teeth, isn't it? We have to do it!

Jan, thanks. It was time for an update. I wanted to see if I could see any change in my face. Yes, saggy chin skin. But at least its saggy and not stuffed full of fat.

I have passed the mile a day goal and now have gone for a thirty minute goal. Each day I will add two minutes to the brisk walk portion. Its five warm up, 20 brisk intervals then five cool down. At one time I didnt think five min was possible. Its still boring but its like brushing teeth, I feel yucky if I dont do it. Just wish I was down to 140 or some number that sounds sweet. Alas I must wait.

Claire, that seemed quick. Another reminder of how it can change in a second. So sad.

15 kinds of cookies means 15 times to nibble. Thats why I have to have a guard stand over me this year. My sis had bi pass and wont let me even lick the bowl. I am waiting for her to make our many dozen. Its a hard time for a food addict like me.

Good to see all you little elves keeping warm and happy. Off to jog/walk. yes i said it...me.

Good evening, ladies

Claire - I'm sorry to hear about David passing. My condolences to his family and to you as well. How sad. It's such good news that your DH is feeling better and is home, safe and sound.

Sock - I sure hope you are feeling better soon. You've been fighting this bug for quite a few days! I hope you get a good rest tonight and feel better soon.

Holly - 15 kinds of cookies!?!?! :P How do you not nibble nibble nibble? Heck, I'd like you to be my wife! Oh, on second thought, that wouldn't work ... I'm trying to lose weight.

Wendy - WTG for starting to run on your treadmill! Wow! This polar bear talk is confusing me. lol

Jen - it's hilarious that you wrote the note about the clothes and the bathrobe over them. It seems to be my fashion choice these days. :)

I had a good sleep last night, was 4 pounds lighter this morning (?), had a nice day at work with lots of kindergarten hugs & I love yous, leftovers for dinner (HAHA easy!), stationary bike *pant pant*, and I'm now in my jammies with my feet up and *sparking*. It's been a good day. :)

Sending you my warmest wishes

Very sorry to hear about your friend, Claire. The irony of the date is interesting, too. Hugs to you! Glad your husband is better.

Just a quick drive by to say hello...I'll try to catch up by the weekend!

David passed this morning. Of all the days, it seems appropriate that he and John Lennon share the same "end" date. We have always ended our Christmas Concert with "Happy Christmas/War is Over" which David sang and, of course, John Lennon wrote. I hope they're jammin' together in heaven......

Don't call ME a POLAR BEAR! Yuch!!! I am a sunshine and warm lover. I think its Sandy as she loves the snow but lives in GA. She went up north and had a blast playing with her "own kind". Those girls are crazy! I run from snow. Its pretty on a greeting card and if it lasted only Christmas day it would be perfect. I send all my snow to Holly.

Jen, I hope things calm down for you. Sounds like you need a bit of quiet.

Jan, good news on your son's job. give it time to work out, sounds like a positive step.

Claire, I am doing the whoo hoo cheer. Hands in the air dancing around like a fool. I know you are dancing on a cloud.

Raine, you paint such a cozy picture. Being a wife is fun for a hobby but I know you would get bored of it soon enough. There is a whole world that needs you to save it. Put your cape in the closet for now but keep it pressed.

I have begun to jog on my treadmill. I saw biggest loser last night and they ran a marathon. I want to see if I can even run at all.

Have a great day.

Claire, I'm so sorry to hear about David, but delighted your DH is home and resolved and doing so well!

Raine - that sounds like a wonderful afternoon, and something you maybe need to do more often.

I think I came on too late to know PB 3, unless it's Wendy? If she's PB 3, then I'm PB 4, because MI has more snow (usually) than OH, unless Wendy lives right near the lake?

Speaking of PBs... it's 17 out right now. Brrr... cold in my office with clothes AND my fleece bathrobe on.

Janet - I really hope you had some lovely sleep last night.

Sock - where ARE you??

Hugs,
Jen

Update on David: They have a DNR in place and have turned off life support.

DH is home! He had a rough day yesterday but we spent a long time talking by the fire and things were looking brighter for him afterward. I am so grateful he's home. Thanks for your prayers for me, him, David, everyone. You are all mighty women! Thank you!!
