I starting reading to my son when he was just months old. I continued to read to him when my daughter was born, so she heard reading all her life.
My son did not like stories much, so we started with encyclopedias before he was 2. He loves animals and nature, so we have all the books that were published on the subject.
We have a routine when we go to bed, each of us picks one book.
The victory here is that my son already reads his own books and he reads to his sister almost every day.
They were both praised a lot in school and kindergarten that they know so much more than a regular kid. They were allowed to bring books to school so they can present to the class.
