I think we all struggle. We have to find something more in the middle that works for the long run. For the most part, I'm getting back to a better plan.

Eating that not so good meal on Friday really did me in. I just haven't felt like eating much at all. The ice cream still beckons though. Two dresses I purchased last year don't fit now. Bummer. I know that if I set my mind to it and followed BLE in earnest, the weight would lift. But just not into it that much. Carol

I have just started using CBD gel on my back. Works like a dream. I slept from 8:30 last night to 4:30 this morning. I haven't slept that long in probably 18 years.

Pam, an 80 something friend of mine was in extreme pain daily. She was prescribed medical marrijuana and started smiling again. At her age, I suggest whatever works. Another friends husband has Parkinsons and uses CBD oil. She says it works well for him. So try it. The medication is not affecting me now, occasional hot flash but that's about it. Carol

Thank you for the wishes, please add me to your prayers. Surgery is in 3 weeks and I have been busy getting ready. Meals in the freezer (some not all) doctors, tests, etc.

Carol, I am ordering CBD oils to try after surgery, heck maybe before surgery! The pain is really bad this past week. I guess I am doing way too much.

HAPPY EASTER to those of you who celebrate it. I will sleep through it this year.

Carol--my mom was on the antiestrogen pills too. They were very effective in preventing another bout of cancer--worth the side effects for her. Mom did have hot flashes and food taste changes with hers too. She did find many foods that did taste good to her. Stick with the plan as best as you can and increase walking, fiber, and water. You can do this!

I started taking the whole pill to ward off estrogen on thursday night. Honestly, it dims my appetite. I feel bloated due to constipation but not feeling like I want to eat is not a bad thing. So I deal with fixing the constipation and don't eat much. WIn win I guess. Carol

Medical marijuana now available in Florida. I have an 80 plus yr old friend who has always been active. But several years ago, she was riding a donkey and fell off and was dragged quite a ways. Ever since she has been in extreme pain. She is now a card carrying MM user and she is a different spirit. It reallly helps her. Carol

Thank you all. My surgery is APRIL 16th. I am so happy to be getting this done. I know the 1st month will be very, very rough and painful. I am looking into options for narcotics to try to keep ahead of the pain. As the surgeon said, "You will hate me for about a month" then it will be better. So no sewing now and until at least July. I am thinking of getting some yarn and kitting or crocheting something. I would love some slippers, so maybe I can handle that.

Prayers would be appreciated very much. This will be a rough one. God will get me through and Carol, yes I am hoping I will be able to walk again, more than 1 block, and return to some of my favorite activities.

I feel your love and know you are in my corner. God's blessings to you all.

Between last week and this past week I've repaired the damage from being sick and going to New Orleans in February. I'm down 2 lbs for the month. And I'm back into the 220's. I know I'm not going to make it out by the end of the month, but my goal is to be below 225 by March 31st.

Not making goals for March or April or May or June.
I have been to the doctor 3 times already this March and had 3 x-rays, a MRI and a CAT scan.
I go back to the doctor on Friday, but I do need back surgery. L-3,4,5 and the tail bone are in bad shape, spinal canal almost shut. Stenosis is sever and need rods and screws put in.

I hope to have surgery by Middle to end of April, so not really worrying about diet. I am keeping myself built up with my oils and oily supplements so I can do well after the surgery. I will post when my surgery date is and I know recovery is 3-4 months.

Good news: I should return to where I was at when my PPS first started. Seems most of my problems were NOT PPS, but my spinal canal closing off. Prayers would be much appreciated.

I made it to Yoga and boy do I need to get back there. I'm so stiff. But midway through the class I started with the nausea. She had put oil on our wrists that smelled like cloves and that did not help. So I had to take it easy for the last half of the class. Now, drinking ginger ale. There is a yoga for dummies class on Friday at 3;30 that I am going to try to get to. If I can go twice a week at least. Carol

Lent day 1 was perfect! No sugar. Yay me. And my portions were good. I got a packet of lentil soup mix at Winn-Dixie and made it for lunch. It said spicy lentil soup and that was an understatement. So for dinner, I made rice to go with which helped. Will probably freeze the rest to take to church on April 2. Carol

I'll have to think about my March goals when I get a little more time. I lost 3.8 pounds from what I weighed when I left on the cruise, down to 181.6 so I'm pretty happy. My biggest goal for March is to get out of the 180's TOO! I've been messing with that for at least 8 months. I'd also like to get to 160 Bev.

I am rereading THE SECRETS OF SUPER SELLING by Corson, Hadley, and Stevens. Out of print but you can still get it through third sellers on amazon. The first two chapters deal with programming your subconscious. Take the sales references out of it and use the tools to reprogram your thoughts. As I prepare for Lent, I need to set some specific goals and not allow my subconscious to reprogram itself away from the goals. Goals need to be positive affirmations!
Lenten Goals
1. Prepare and eat 3 delicious BLE meals a day. (note to self: I dont have to say eliminate S&F because preparing BLE meals takes care of that. Only follow the BLE program)
2. Achieve 40 fifteen minute sessions of exercise. (note to self: Since Lent is 40 days, not including Sundays, I can easily walk with the dog, go to Yoga, etc. I can keep a running total of my minutes for 40 days plus Sundays.)
That is enough for today! More goals to come.

Carol, my body keeps trying to stay at 180, too. I'm determined to get to at least 160, and would love to make it to 150. We can do it!

I really need to get back to BLE. Waiting for WEdnesday for Lent. Susan Pierce Thompson talks about adiposity set point. This is the weight your body wants to stay at and is comfortable at. I think I am there, having been in the 180's for more years than I need to remember. I'm thinkng 160 is a pip dream. Carol

Carol, perhaps you can move up to the full tablet when your body adjusts.

Amy, soup and salad sounds good to me.

Carol--if half does the trick why not! Glad to hear you are doing better.

I better start working on March goals today. I'm going out to lunch Tuesday. I looked at the menu and will choose something off the lite menu or soup and salad (not the all you can eat portion!).

yes, Bev, I felt a difference yesterday with only half pill and this morning the same. Its like the noose has been loosened. Less stress on the body. I dont mind taking it for 5 years if I can take the half. Carol

Carol, I am sorry you have the side effects. Does cutting the pill help any?

I had a bout of nausea yesterday and the only thing that helps is to eat something sweet, like a pop tart. Certainly not good for the diet. It seems I have most of the side effects, nausea, headache, hot flashes, constipation, somewhat loss of appetite. Until I need to eat something sweet. So last night I decided to halve the pill and see how that works. The doctor said it was up to me whether I took it or not which I thought was unusual. I don't want to give it up entirely if it is something that could help. I see him on March 9 so half pills til then and we shall see. I just dont want to gain back any more weight and it is tough to stay on a diet plan right now. I did go out for a walk with Josie yesterday. My DIL and grandkids went to Ohio for the weekend. Supposed to be in the 30's and snow on the ground. Carol

Good goals posted so far! Mine are on the light side, but I want to be sure I can claim victory on them.

Bev--Congratulations on doing so very well. You are having a great year keeping up with your health goals.

March:
1. Health appointments this month (not looking forward to it as I have not done well at all)
2. Continue to work on estate stuff (hopefully taxes can be done for 2018)
3. Walk at least 50K/week
4. Be good with diet 5-6 days/week (not ideal, but at least I could head in the right direction)
5. Complete at least two pieced tops that I made last year.

Well, here we are starting March. I certainly do hope spring is not far behind. I'm ready for some nice outdoor time. Did pretty well with my Feb goals.

1) exercise 45 minutes daily and lose 1 pound per week (yup)
2) stick to low carb diet and learn 1 new recipe weeklly (yup)
3) do strength training 2 days per week, and core exercises 1 day per week (well 1 and 1)
4) complete 1 UFO (actually created 4 more)

So for march I would like to continue my success. I will not be able to strength train the last week due to surgery, so will add extra sewing.
1) exercise 45 minutes daily and lose 1 pound per week
2) stick to low carb diet and increase fiber intake
3) complete 1 UFO
4) finish Dust off a Quilt Book top
