I am on the Cloverleaf 5% Challenge Team. I have done these challenges for many years and I really like them!

Well - I didn't do too well on my goals this month. Between getting ready for Christmas, Christmas, and being sick a couple of days, I still am satisfied at how well I did.

My December Goals
1. Lose 3 lbs - stayed the same.
2. Shakes for breakfast or lunch 4-5 days a week -- did well the first two weeks of December
3. Continue to monitor sugar intake - nope
4. Step Goals:
5000+ a day - 25 days -- only made it 20 days
7000+ a day - 4 days -- emoticon -- I even did 7 days with 2 days over 10,000!!

Okay, I signed up and asked to be on a slow team. This is kind of like BLE in that it is a group effort for 8 weeks. But free. And maybe it will encourage me to walk and get out. Who knows what radiation will do for me. I will have to drive 45 min to get the radiation site. The local machine is being replaced or it would normally have been a few minutes each way. That is okay. I'll manage. Carol

The challenge community has 13 teams, you can be placed in which ever team has openings. There will be weekly challenges and you post your daily exercise, and must weigh in weekly by Sat evening. Your goal is to lose 5% in 8 weeks This is my first time in the challenge, so I'm not sure of specifics. But I thought I can use all the encouragement I can get, so gonna give it a try.

Maybe I'll join too. The holidays have not been good lately. Others brought some things over to dad's that were not diet friendly and with all the stress, I have been partaking. It is nearly all gone now. We also ate out a few times and we are going to be eating out once more. I had lost 10 pounds since dad's death, but I probably gained some of it back this past week. I will definitely be hitting it hard again January 2nd!

Yep Carol. I got to 172 in 2017 but evidently didn't track it. Yes we can do it. I refuse to gain this weight back. 1. I love being able to wear size 14. 2. I love being able to breathe without puffing. etc. etc. etc.

I've been massaging my left arm quite a bit using pain-a-trate, magnesium and a lotion. The feeling is starting to come back into the nerve that was affected and it is itching which is a good sign. When we came home from the party last night, I put on my jammies and furry house call. Suddenly my arm was wet. I wiped it off and it became wet again. I guess maybe it was draining because this morning it feels thinner and not so sore. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing. Tomorrow is a massage so can't wait. Carol

One of the forms I filled out had a checklist for help that I may need. I checked no on all of them. Just wasn't ready I guess. I am effectively rezooming althought not strict about S&F. Just eating healthy portions and not snacking and choosing wisely. Last night we had a Stouffers Lasagna. I had a modest portion and fixed myself a side salad which I enjoyed immensely. Hubby has a good excuse now, not to eat salad. CArol

Chemo and radiation can affect the way food tastes, and nutrients you may require for recovery. Some clinics have nutrition specialists to help with that. Perhaps you should ask if your doctor has one and discuss BLE with them.

I should explain BLE to the chemo doctor? In my mind, I've decided not to have chemo. I hope to meet with a friend who is going through Radiation now after a double mastectomy and chemo. Had it worse than I have. I have some questions for her. This morning I had some toast with cream cheese and jelly on it. That jelly is sitting on my stomach. Almost made me sick. Just need a smathering or none at all. I need a glass of milk to cover it up. Carol

My initial goal with BLE was to get down to 160. Actually, at 170, I looked pretty good but I know at 160, I would be better. Havent' been there in years and a picture with Santa Claus yesterday showed the weigh t gain. So, I am slowly thinking and rezooming and coming back to a healthier way to eat. Back to BLE I say. It works. Carol

Yes, it is Bev. I weighed this morning and I am up 15 lbs since June. Oh, well.

There are 3 things I need to do daily.
1. Weigh every day. This keeps me on track, up or down, it keeps my eating level. When I dont weigh, I go off the rails.
2. Weigh and measure and plan all my food to eat. I've gotten out of this habit.
3. Stay away from sugar. I find myself eating sugary foods and you know what? They are either gooey too sweet or just don't taste that good. So why eat them?

I have been eating a piece of Seed bread for breakfast. Flour is a no no for BLE but it doesn't trigger me and so I have this bread. However, I havent weighed the bread so I did this morning and found it to be 2 oz when I can only have one ounce. So I cut off all the crusts, and that did the trick. Perfectly happy with that and 2 eggs and half a banana. On to lunch. Carol

I am pretty much tired of BLE. It definitely works, however, never to have another piece of birthday cake is not happening. I dont feel I am eating as much as I used to. My appetitie has diminished some. ANd if I do have to have chemo or radiation, I imagine my appetitie will really diminish. We shall see. My facebook page is cluttered with BLE groups and I am going to be paring them down after the first of the year. We were at a party last night and I felt I did very well with choices. I did have some sweets but did not over do it. Carol

Carol--I think you will be much happier with the Sonoma plan. It is much like the Mediterranean diet (I strive for a version of this). Right now I'm doing very well with it. A little cheating, but not enough to not lose!

I am just trying to hold my own, with travel and family issues it is tough. The Holidays are no time to not allow myself to partake of some goods. The goal is MODERATION!

We eat a fairly good diet, but sometimes I slide and all I want is pizza! LOL

Just after Christmas I will be flying to Norristown PA to help my sister in law after knee surgery for 2 1/2 weeks so I will cook and we will eat well. We both need to watch the calories.

The goal is to stay with MODERATION and not gorge!

That's exactly what a good diet is--portion control and self control. I know I can't eat totally BLE anymore. It's not how I choose to live my life.

Yep, this morning I had a slice of good seeds toast topped with brie slices. And 4 oz milk. And coffee. Going back to the Sonoma Diet plan. The premise there is that half your plate should be veggies, and 1/4, protein and 1/4 grain or potato. I'm also going to use that scenario. When you get right down to it, many diets are alike. Portion control and what you eat. Carol

I belong to a couple of different BLE groups on facebook. One person made a long comment about her health situation since losing all the weight. And it was a lot. Not only did she lose the fat but she lost connective tissue as well and has had numerous problems. I have to agree that some of the photos on the BLE sites show truly obese women and men who have lost down to skin and bones. I think they look too thin. And you can't sustain your weight by staying on the diet plan forever. With possibly chemo and radiation looming, I am just going to monitor my portions, eat healthy whenever possible and just not worry about it. I've been eating s and F but it is not triggering and I limit the portions. Just waiting. Carol

If I could just stay downstairs in my sewing room I could do much better. If I have to go upstairs to eat I tend not to.

My November goal was to lose the 4 lbs I gained in October. Instead I gained 5. This has obviously got to stop. I'm living proof that you can't out exercise a bad diet.

I tracked my food today. I drank my water today.

My goals for December are:
1) Track my food
2) Drink my water
3) Stop gaining weight.

Just refocus. With my dad's illness and passing I just really haven't taken care of myself. So, once again, back to basics.

November goals:
1. Lose 4 pounds (at least) emoticon
2. Give up added sugar and all junk food for 21 days. emoticon
3. Spend at least 3 evenings a week working on the Winter Solstice quilt. emoticon

Well, November was a bust! I think I gained .2 and I didn't even pick up the Winter Solstice. I'm pretty sure I did the sugar and junk food part, though. December goals are going to be exactly the same.

November goals/resolutions:

1) Stay in nutrition goals (mos days)
2) Exercise daily (almost)
3) Finish Jewel Box quilt (nope)
4) Finish 1 UFO (nope)
5) Make 1 Christmas present (nope)

Well, did not do well for November, but will have to for December. Gotta get back on the low carb diet, so there's that. There are so many things to finish up, and so much I want to get started on for the new year, not sure where to start. But here we go.

1) Get started on low carb and stay in nutrition guidelines
2) Finish Jewel Box and jelly roll quilts
3) Finish photo albums
4) Exercise 30 minutes daily
