I admit it - I am a creature of habit. As my DH does all the evening cooking - and we never know what he will whip up, I tend to rely on my cheerios in the morning.

The only question will be will it be naked, or with blueberries or a banana...

Ok ... for starters I am not an expert ... but I have always heard that eating more meals, closer together, is best for your metabolism. Eating two breakfasts in your case (since you get up at 4:30 am, and by the way is their REALLY a 4:30am?) is probably a good thing. I don't actually think eating something different every day is a bad thing. I usually do the cheerios shakes every day but that is because I am lazy and I really like them.

Hello,

I've been wanting to post and wondering what to say. Breakfast is my weakness. I can't have just one. I'm like a Hobbit and somedays I have my Hobbit breakfast and never feel bad about it. (Hobbits eat 2 breakfasts a day)

I rationalize by saying: well, I got up at 4:30 so it's really lunchtime. I end up with 4 meals a day this way.

So my favorite breakfast? Sweet, savory, cold cereal, hot from the frying pan, I LOVE them all!

How do I become one of those people who eats the same food every day for breakfast when there's so much yummy variety? If I had to only have one meal a day it would be breakfast. I may be able to go with the oatmeal daily but I'm a sucker for adding brown sugar to it. Maybe some of that Splenda brown sugar?

Help me! emoticon

My son eats honeynut cheerios, whereas I eat the original. One time I took the last of his honey nut and added to my cheerios - and man it was too sweet for me. Me chocoholic that I am couldn't eat honeynut cheerios because it was too sweet.

I am afraid DH and I are the most boring people on earth. I always have HoneyNut Cheerios and skim milk for breakfast, and a banana about 2 hours later. He has Basic4 with skim milk. When we eat out they just start cooking when we pull in the parking lot, always the same things.

Wow! Now when I pay my Verizon bill I'll think of you!

I have just discovered a new favorite breakfast - our farmer's market began last week, so I have some fresh blackberries that are so sweet - so I had some shredded wheat minis (the non-frosted kind) with lots of blackberries and 1% milk. It was sooooooo yummy!

Stock in Cheerios ... why didn't I think of that 10 years ago ... I could diversify my only stock I own that has made me some big bucks ... Verizon. Years and years ago I worked for a subsidiary of GTE Sylvania ... when I left the company a few stocks were left in that account with dividends being reinvested. It was sold several times to other companies and I vaguely remember when it became Verizon. My husband took care of that. I never gave it a thought. Never read the mail, etc. Figured it was about $100 if that. Well imagine my surprise when I got an email from them. Balance is over $4,000.

Ok so I now have another favorite breakfast. I take 2% (or you can use 0%) greek yogurt and mix in concentrated crushed cherry juice (a great anti-oxident) with a couple drops of almond extract and agave nectar. Mix well and add Cheerios ... mmmmmmm soooo good. Can you tell I love Cheerios?

SALUTE!

But do you think we might put our geese together to make a heart block? I'm gonna try to post a picture on my home page, but this whole newbie thing is almost beyond my realm of comprehension.

This pattern is a Thimbleberries pattern. I have one somewhere in the puter at home that isn't Thimbleberries (a variation of this one) that we might use without copyright violation.

Let me know what you think. cb

My favorite breakfast is:

A fried/poached egg.
I put a little coconut oil in the pan then the egg, bust the yoke, add hot hot water and a lid. so I call it sorta fried/poached.

A cinnamon raisin english muffin and cream cheese and the poached egg with just a little bit of kosher salt and black pepper.

With coffee of course! :)

Instant oatmeal is still pretty nasty. I cook the regular oats in the bowl in the microwave. The recipe is on the box. Quite yum and no pot to clean.

my sister orders the protein powder on ebay I will have to get the distributor information. She orders it 4 to a case and they have all flavors but they also have plain ... with no flavor ... but there is always chocolate or vanilla. the caffe latte really doesn't taste like coffee but there are a lot of others to choose from ..

Report on my daughter ... she managed to convince the orthopedic dr to give her a boot for her ankle so she will now be able to go swimming to get her cardio exercise. I realize she is addicted to this exercise and I am hoping when she finally gets back to work it will take a back seat in her life.

Sally, that is great about your daughter. I want to thank you for the cherrio smoothie recipe. It sounds great. Now I know what the agave nectar is I know what to get. I will also have to find some protein powder that does not have anything to do with coffee. I don't care for coffee flavor at all (don't drink it either).

I am trying to get the chemicals out of my food program, i.e., artifical sweetners. Agave Nectar is a slow metabolizing sweetner which is good for diabetics. It looks a lot like honey. I get it at the health food store. I did find it at Meijer (grocery store) but it was a tiny bottle and very expensive. Much cheaper at the health food store. I use it in my cheerio smoothie (1 cup cheerios, about cup fat free milk, 2 T peanut butter, two scoops of protein powder (I use herbal magic cafe latte protein powder) and a squirt of the agave nectar. Mix in blender or bullet then add a few icecubes and blend til incorporated). This is a good smoothie and with the protein powder you don't get hungry right away). I also get Soy Latte's with protein powder from Starbucks. I am addicted them them thanks to my daughter. I need to brag on my daughter. She lost her job in January (we live in Michigan) and because she has a lifetime membership at a gym started working out and has lost over 50 pounds since January (she has lost 120 pounds over the last 3 years). She looks great! She broke her ankle last thursday and is devastated she won't be able to work with her trainer for awhile.

agave nectar is used as a sweetener, I haven't tried it. I buy protein powder at my local grocery store (HEB) - my coach recommended that I get my protein levels up (she is a dietician) and told me to buy Whey powder

I am an oatmeal person too. DH bought a fancy rice cooker that has a timer and a porridge cycle. We have steel cut oats or the thick kind of rolled oats every morning. I add 1 TB of peanut butter to mine (for a bit of protein and fat to make it last all morning). I often add fruit too.

Seems many of us eat oatmeal. I'm surprised at this.

Eggs are my favorite - usually I have cereal and fruit, it is faster and faster to clean up. During the winter I love warm oatmeal.

My favorite ~ broccoli omelet. Sometimes add 1-2 ounces of chicken for an additional boost.

In winter, love cooked oatmeal with raisins & cinnamon.

My usual breakfast is minute oatmeal with some original fiber one cereal, raisins, ground flax seed, and 1% milk. Sometimes I will have a banana with breakfast or have it as morning snack.

Once in a while I have eggo waffles with SF syrup, Fiber One pancakes with SF syrup, bowl of Cherrios, or an eggbeaters omelette with onions, bell peppers, and shredded cheese.

I usually have Special K Vanilla Almond cereal with skim milk, and Activia fat free fibre yogurt.

In winter, I'll sometimes have instant oatmeal instead of the cereal and milk. My favourite is the peaches and cream from the Sobey's Compliments line.

Wow - all good suggestions. I pretty much eat Shredded Wheat and Bran and FF milk. I was eating oatmeal and bran for awhile, but got tired of it. Now that it is hot, I need to eat cold food. Sometimes I eat a banana with my Shredded wheat, or egg whites and feta cheese and chopped up tomato with salsa on top. That's pretty yummy.

I have to ask kwiltergirl - what is raspeberry curd?

My daughter has also hooked me on Starbucks soy latte with protein powder ... oh my is that good!!!! I have a Starbucks card and I load it with $25 and it has to last a month. The only Starbucks in my city is located inside our Meijer grocery store. Luckily for me I don't have a stand-alone Starbucks with a drive thru.

I know this is going to sound weird but I make a breakfast smoothie using about a cup of cheerios, about a cup of non-fat milk, 2 T peanut butter, a couple tablespoons of agave nectar, and two scoops of protein powder ... mix it in the magic bullet and then add about 4 to 5 ice cubes and process til smooth. If I have that about 8 I am not hungry again til noon or later ... and it tastes delicious. I get the agave nectar at the health food store. It looks like honey but is a slow processed sweetner that is especially good for diabetics and doesn't have all the chemicals of artificial sweetener. It is by and far my favorite breakfast.

I usually have slim-fast and sometimes a banana with it. Sometimes my husband or I will cook oatmeal.

I don't use the instant packages. I wonder if they have gotten better tasting.

My Favorite? 2 slices of Honey Oat Bread, toasted, with a very small amount of peanut butter and raspberry curd plus 12 oz of Irish Creme Cappuccino. Sometimes I'll mix it up and instead of the bread I'll have my Irish Creme Cappuccino with 3/4 cup of Special K Cinnamon Pecan Cereal and skim milk.

I usually have whole wheat toast with peanut butter and a banana sliced on top or I'll make oatmeal and add raisins and craisins to it...2% milk of course. Of course by the time I have my breakfast I've already had loads of coffee.

I like to make egg salad the night before and have it ready, or make a protein smoothie, or make quinoa (like oatmeal) and have it with nuts and berries on it.

I really feel lazy right now. I seldom get up or eat breakfast until around 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning and just have some slim-fast. It keeps me full until lunch at 12. Sometimes I have Fiber One with some strawberries.

Of course I don't sleep well, and sometimes I have to sleep that long to get in 7 or8 hours a night.lol
Basically lazy. JO

I agree with having breakfast and its importance but I have to mix it up. I envy those who are content with oatmeal everyday.

I too make an egg sandwich or I might have a whole wheat muffin with peanut butter, or I'll make some Fiber One pancakes and sprinkle a little powdered sugar on, or a bowl of Cheerios. I also have a piece of fruit each morning - usually a banana but I eat that at 4 a.m. when I get up and before I hit the treadmill to get a couple of miles in before my work day.

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we must fortify ourselves to exercise and quilt lots! So, what is your favorite breakfast?

I love my egg sandwich - two pieces of whole grain bread toasted, one egg scrambled and cooked in the microwave, 1 slice of cheddar cheese.

Yum and it's fast - as fast as cereal!
