I'm totally in! I have always wanted athens sparklers to be more active as a team. Looking forward to get to know you all.

I'm leighann. Im 24, I have a(almost) 3 year old little girl. She eats really healthy. And I'm trying to learn to set a good example for her instead of"do as I say, not as I do".

Ember39 - Calorie counting is THE reason I justified my purchase of a smartphone. In the year since I got the fancy phone, I have not always been good about using it for that reason. But I've definitely found some new success with it recently.

I have been thinking about trading up to a smart phone. These apps sound like a good reason to seriously look into it. I have to admit that I have been great about entering my breakfast on the Nutrition page of SP but then I I don't usually have time to check in during the day so I don't enter anything until the next morning. I like the idea of entering items as the day goes so I know exactly where I am.

Hi everyone. My name is Andrea but my husband and my friends call me Frankie. I moved to Athens from Arkansas a couple of years ago when my husband started grad school at the University of Georgia.

I will be finishing the MAT program this summer and I am also (finally) making use of the student health fee and spending a lot of time in Ramsey (the gym).

I'm in too!! I lost 35lbs with Spark, but that was almost a year ago. I gained some back and now I have to get re-motivated! Your email was a sign, I'm sure of it emoticon

I was raised just outside of Athens, but moved away for several years. I returned to finished my schooling. I just started back to tracking my food. I really want to get back into fitness, but it won't be easy. I work 60 hours a week and am also taking a GRE Prep class for the next 6 weeks, so my life is super hectic. But, I do stay active with all of my jobs, all of them are on my feet, on the go and require physical lifting and things like that, so I feel like, if I can monitor my food and make sure I am making healthy choices, then I should still lose a few pounds.
Yay to us!! emoticon

I've been using MyFitnessPal app to count calories on my smartphone. I'm really enjoying it. My username is erint816 if anybody else uses this app.

Karen, congratulations on your upcoming wedding and move! I've always wanted to live in the UK. How exciting. :)

as for the calorie counter thing, I suppose I've become used to this one on SP, but if I had a smart phone I'd love being able to scan in bar codes! I used to use a program from FitDay but this one is integrated into the site, so I'm good with it. That scanning thing though. What a convenience that would be.

This is my body and it's fine.
It's where I spend the vast majority of my time.
It's not perfect. But it's mine.

Marie, I am using the free calorie app, Lose It! For me, it is easier than the Weight Watchers tracker and the Spark tracker. You can track calories, enter your own recipes, and if you have it on a smartphone it can scan barcodes.

I use it on my Kindle Fire.

Thank you Irishf. You are wonderful. Your comments and advice are spot on. I checked out the shoe site you recommended to Karen and they are really cute. Cute and comfortable are rare in shoes these days.

Thank you Karen. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Moving to England sounds exciting. Are you from the Athens area orginally? I don't have a place to work out. That is one of my problems. I will check out Bodyplex.

Thank you Iris. I have been seriously considering joining Weight Watchers. Congrats on your success. Do you go to the one on the Atlanta Highway? It's not far and I really think I need, no I know I need guidance.

Thank you Paula. I so appreciate you telling me that you've joined several times. I felt ashamed that I couldn't make this work. I love the line "we are worth the work it will take to do this." I have copied that down in a motivation journal I started. I also love the meaning of your name, "to go freely."

Thank you Cindy. It was your e-mail that brought me back and helped me make that decision to step out again. You've got a deal. I need your help and I will be there for you.

Paula, if you are interested, I'm in a very nice knitting and crochet group. We meet every second Thursday at Schlotzky's, around 5:30 when people get off work. You're welcome to join us if you ever care to! (I admit, I smuggle in a snack...I don't care for the calorie count at Schlotzky's...)

If you are on Ravelry, I'm irishf over there too and we have a nice group in the Athens Area group there.

Karen, you mentioned you're moving to England. I just FINALLY found shoes that are actually comfortable to me, and they are from England. They aren't cheap, but since they are leather I expect them to last...just got a pair of boots that are so comfortable, I know I'll be able to walk, walk, walk all over on my next trip to Europe. Good luck with your move when it happens.

I'm in!

My name is Karen and I am turning 38 next month (eek!). I am also getting married later this year so I have loads of outside motivation to lose the weight. After the wedding I am moving to England but I am in Athens & Atlanta until then :)

I think most of us know about the struggle to lose consistently and then keep it off. If it was easy, we would all be in perfect shape already.

Do you have anywhere to workout Marie? There is a groupon right now for Bodyplex - $35 for 2 months I think it was.

Marie, Cindy, Paula....

I AM IN!!!

My name is Iris. I was actually born in Athens. I left Athens after college and returned back in 2009. Like everyone else probably, I was on the site years ago. I decided to come back because the weight came back.

I am currently a member of weight watchers and loving it. I love alll the tips and motivations that the other members and leader give. I was so set on doing this on my own. Unfortunately, I came to the realization that it was impossible. I am here and ready to change. I have already lost 18lbs in the past month and a half.

Good luck ladies! Let's do it!

Marie, Cindy,

I am so IN!

Marie, I understand where you're coming from. I've joined this site several times under several names and I've come back three separate times under this one. I decided there was no reason to hide the fact that I have problems losing the weight. Heck, every picture taken of me proves that fact, so I decided I was in it for the long haul, no matter how long it takes.

My name is Paula, I'm a mother of four and a grandmother of two. I love writing, photography, and crochet. I was raised all over the world, as my father was in the Air Force. When I turned 17, he retired. I cried for two hours, knowing I'd get stuck here for the rest of my life. LOL! I've tried to leave on a few occasions, but there's this vortex that keeps dragging me back. I'm guessing some part of my subconscious likes it here. I wish it would share why, especially during the school year when traffic's so heavy. *G*

We are worth the work it will take to do this. We *have* to remember that.

Hugs to all,
Paula

I'm in. :)

I'm Cindy, a 35 year old mom of a beautiful five year old boy. Unemployed but that means I take care of the house, my husband, and my son, who is starting kindergarten next fall. He currently goes to camp at the YMCA.

He is my motivation for this. He is an athlete, and always on the go. I am not. I want desperately to lose the weight I've gained.

Marie, what you wrote in the note that went out to all of us struck a chord in me. I understand what that's like. I'll help you, if you help me. :)

My name is Marie. I am 52 and I work at UGA. I grew up in Madison County and left the area when I was 17 swearing I'd never return to GA. Long story short....I lived all over the country and came back home six years ago.
