Countdown240...thanks for all of that. My daughter is almost 8 months and is really only nursing once a day. I try to nurse her when i get home from work but it's only for a very, very short time. In the early morning she nurses great. I'm still pumping and trying to do it as long as possible. I know it's just a natural thing for her to want to wean...i'm just not going to beat myself up over it.

Well, I knew this day would come. But I hope new moms will read this because I want to give you some "20/20 hindsight" advice. My sweet lil angel is almost ONE and is weaning herself. I only nurse her 1 time a day now and I know that will soon come to an end. But I'm ok with it...I can tell she's ready.

So I just wanted to tell all you moms who are just starting or in the early weeks/months of nursing a few things I learned. (I managed to keep nursing even with my crazy work schedule!! but I'm so glad I did.)

1. If you're feeling frustrated with nursing (as I did, especially in the beginning) don't give up. I had just about every nursing problem there is, but I just took it one day at time and kept on. It has been so worth it! I didn't think I could get to 3 months let alone 12 months!!!

2. Don't worry about your weight loss while nursing if you are having trouble with it. I actually gained weight while nursing and now that I'm barely nursing, it is coming off much easier (and I'm putting in effort!). It just isn't worth worrying about because you are giving your baby the best nutrition and care possible. They just grow up soo fast! So just enjoy the time! I miss it already.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks so much for everyone's great advice on this team. I don't come around here too much anymore but I will check in from time to time to see if I can offer any advice!

Best wishes with all you new mommies! You are doing an awesome thing, it can be hard at times, but just hang in there...It's such a precious special time! Cherish it....it'll be gone in a flash! emoticon
