Finished an incredible book called "The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell". I was really impressed. Will check out his detective novels. I just read the 8th book in the "In Death" series by Robb. The ending was exciting and with 3 pages left to go the dogs all had to go out in the cold.

I've been reading way too much and not getting my chores done! I started reading J.D. Robb series 'In Death' and have been binge reading. I'm on book 6 and there are 42 or 45 of them. The only thing that will save me from myself is if Jill didn't buy more than 6 for the Kindle library. I'm almost positive they are her purchase? I just share them but don't buy. Suppose I could find them at the library but really need to stop reading and get some things done!

The Book about the Time Police was actually called "Doing Time" emoticon Finished it this morning. Really enjoyed it. Certainly sets up a whole new series.

Read the big fat Sunday Great Falls Tribune. It was bought by Gannett so lacks some of the best parts. Not even posting the Montana college football game scores. Sure disappointed!

So excited to find the brand new Jodi Taylor "Time Police" in my Kindle library! My beloved BFF must have preordered it!

read 3 other good books in the past couple of weeks. "Carrying Albert Home" was hysterical! Taking an alligator back to Florida!!!

"The Book that Matters Most" about a book club with members who chose the book that mattered most to them for the next year's reading list! Funny, sad, makes me want to join a book club!

Just finished Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham. Enjoyed it so much that am continuing with The Litigators by same author. He has a great sense of humor. I like to listen to audio books while doing my "chores".

Right now is a great time to get started.

"Crime Beat - A Decade of Covering Cops and Killers" by Michael Connelly. Good stuff! He wrote several stories with Harry Bosch as the main character. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series on Amazon prime so will get the books from the library to read over the winter!

Also picked up "Through My Eyes" by Tim Tebow. Should be interesting with Drew Brees in the news right now? Funny, I thought we had freedom of religion in our country?

This autobiography was written and published before he got fired from the Broncos. My BFF is a big fan of sports and autobiographies so got it for her.

"The Holy Man" by Susan Trott. It's a great little story (parable) about the search for happiness on the path to top of the mountain where the holy man is. I read it years ago (and there is a sequel) but found my old copy while cleaning a book shelf and remembered it fondly. Just knew I found it for a reason today!

Sorting through the bookcases to find the ones I'm willing to part with! I keep doing this but keep buying more at thrift stores and rummage sales! My mom had a bunch of David Baldacci bagged up but I snagged them. I will put them in the series order and keep them! Want to re-read his "Camel Club" series this winter!

Also putting all the Christmas related books into a milk crate for the basement. Started giving a stack of 25 wrapped books to families at Thanksgiving to be opened each night of Advent. It's been such a hit I look for them everywhere I go.

About halfway through "A Thousand Summers". A beautiful love story!

Will finish up the 4th in this Harley Merlin series by Bella Forrest. The other 5 aren't in my e-reader library and I'm not that interested. There is a new one by Jodi Taylor writing under another name that I am anxious to start so when I finish up this Merlin book I'll start it.

Taking the Michael Connelly series back to the library. Just finished #4 in the Jodi Taylor series. Ended up going back to the beginning. I need to get things done around here before I start in another series. I am ready to get into some heavy Spring Cleaning and then will start my summer reading!

Been rereading "Chronicles of St. Mary's" by Jodi Taylor. The newest one popped up in my Kindle library (#10) so I read it! Had forgotten some crucial details so started back at #5. Found what I was looking for in #8. Should finish #9 tonight and then will start on the Michael Connelly series!

Finished the David Baldacci and passed it on to my mom. Read both of the books on Alzheimer's and so did my mom. I got the latest Jodi Taylor "Hope for the Best" which is the newest in the Chronicles of St. Mary's. I really enjoy this series.

Went to the library and forgot to take back the Alzheimer's books emoticon but picked up 4 Michael Connelly books from the Bosch series. The first one was missing. I found the series on my Kindle and basically binge watched the first 4 seasons and season 5 just came out. Will see how the books compare to the series.

Bought the new David Baldacci, "Redemption" for myself for Easter! Read the first 3 chapters and fell asleep! Also got 2 books on Alzheimer's disease from the library. Just started "Mayo Clinic on Alzheimer's Disease" . It's from 2002 so not real current info. I'm afraid that is where my mom is headed!

Been reading all the time lately! Forget to eat! I'm reading a good story called "The Worst Day of My Life So Far" . Divorced woman moved back to the south (Louisiana) to take care of her mother who has the dreaded Alzheimer's. Almost done with it but had to stop and watch "Broken Brain 2" with Mark Hyman , M.D.. 8 FREE video lessons that expired at 10 p.m. my time!

Read a light murder mystery called "Arsenic in the Azaleas" by Dale Mayer! First in a series of 'alphabet murders'. Free on Amazon but the others are 4.99 each so will check at the library!

Finished another Jeff Wheeler trilogy (Kingfountain) only to discover there are 2 prequels and 2 more books so not a trilogy!!! That's when I 'took a break' and read the 2 freebies from Amazon.

Downloaded and read a wonderful story called "Inheriting Edith". A single mom who works as a house cleaner inherits a house in Sag Harbor from one of her past clients. She also "inherits" the mother, Edith. Edith is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's . Lots of twists and turns. Great read! Zoe Fishman is the author!

Reading "One Year to an Organized Life" by Regina Leeds and started one called "The Book of Awakening" by Mark Nepo. It's daily reading which I'm not good at. I'll read several 'lessons' at a time. I'm also reading "Quick Keto- Meals in 30 Minutes or Less". Has some interesting recipes I think I'll try.

I read a wonderful book called "Beneath a Scarlet Sky" by Mark Sullivan is a historical fiction novel based on the true life of Pino Lella during World War II. It was just one of the free selections on Kindle and they compared it to "Nightingale" so I downloaded it.

The guy who wrote it, Mark Sullivan, lives in Bozeman! When I found that in the introduction I thought, "oh good! A Montana boy!" This is a great story and now I find out they are about to release the movie. If you like historical fiction this one is a winner. Never hear much about the Nazi occupation of Italy during WWII. Mussolini is being held captive and controlled by the Nazi party. The same escapes are being planned by resistant fighters. I really liked it!

Finished the second Jeff Wheeler trilogy, the Covenant of Muirwood - the first was the Legend of Muirwood. I am almost finished with my last book by Kingsolver from the library, "Prodigal Summer". I really like her stuff but there are several more Wheeler's waiting for me on the Kindle so I'll take back the library book tomorrow and start in on more Wheeler books!

Finished the trilogy and am starting the second trilogy. I am really enjoying Wheeler's writing style. The series are set in ancient Britain and have an Arthurian feel but not exactly...maybe Druid is a better explanation. The battles of good and evil.

Our lives evolve into on-going stories. Every year there are chapters that read like a mystery, dramatic, whimsical, adventure, travel or romance novel. Within 365 days there could be several different styles of short stories all advancing into the evolution and growth of our lives.

Here’s another year and we get a blank slate. The older I get the more aware I am becoming of the privilege that arrives from each new day and the chance to create and align to my dreams. If we are honest with our desires and dreams we can encourage the stories to be joyful, challenging, loving, and exciting (among other beautiful surprises). If we are dormant or dishonest with our feelings then another year will pass and the chapters will be uneventful and boring.

Have you ever picked up a book after reading the back or the jacket and thought, “Wow, I can’t wait to get started on this journey?” Then you begin the adventure to find that it really isn’t a good novel so you struggle to continue to the end, or you just give up. Well Life is just like that…you have a choice to see the next year as a great story. You get to decide if it’s worth struggling to reach a goal or not worth the effort. You get to write your beginning and ending. NO ONE can do that for you unless you give them the pen.

This is your life! Start today. Make the next 52 weeks about you. Don’t settle and don’t deny your dreams in order conform to another who is writing their own book. You are the protagonist of your story. And, also notice that if your stories hold several antagonists then you need to start dumping those characters. It’s not fair to your novel.

Your higher self deserves the respect that it provides for you through those passionate ideas, dreams, and joyful moments. I believe this is a year of spiritual evolution for many of us. Let’s make it a memorable one. Remember to stay in your magic and sparkle!

Got 3 more Barbara Kingsolver stories at the library! "the Bean Tree" and what seems to be a sequel, "Pigs in Heaven" and one that looks interesting, titled "Prodigal Summer". Enough to keep me busy through this cold spell!

Just finished a wonderful story called "Unsheltered" by Barbara Kingsolver. I need to go to the library and take back a book so will see what else they have by her. A friend in Oregon recommended her.

Read "The Steam Pump Jump" - a short story by Jodi Taylor! Cute. Her last 2 have been too short. New full-length book due out in a couple weeks! Also started "About My Mother" by Mike Rowe's mother, Peggy Rowe. Nice, funny memoir! Hope to finish it at my motel tomorrow night!

still going through stacks of magazines!

Went through a stack of magazines and pulled out a couple pages of recipes or exercise routines or info to keep and tossed the rest of them in the recycling bin! Listening to the first Michael Connelly on CD done that's what was available at the library!

Got 2 bags to recycle! Packed 2 boxes of Christmas stories to store for next year's gift!

Reading Charles Krauthammer's last book, "Things That Matter; Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics". It's good but deep reading. Mostly articles he published over the years. I saw the interview where his son talked about finishing up this book after his father died. He was a very intelligent man with a really inspirational story. It still amazes me how many people didn't know he spent most of his life in a wheelchair. They hid it well, like they did with Roosevelt!

Need to read faster since it's a 'new book' and has to go back to the library. I was going to buy a copy for my mom for Christmas but they had it at the library so I just saved the $30!!

"And Now For Something Completely Different" by Jodi Taylor. It's the latest in her 'Chronicles of St. Mary's' series and came out on Christmas Eve. Just a short story and I read it twice. The historians always make an unplanned jump to some other time on Christmas and this one they end up on Mars!

emoticon I got the Kondo book as a gift from one of my Spark People friends a couple years ago! Felt the same way! I am not willing to give up my definite division of summer and winter clothes! Ever, for anyone!

emoticon Hate having to wait for next book in a series!! Often I have read so many between finishing one and release of the new one that I re-read the last one! Did that through the whole Harry Potter series! That's why I like finding them at the library with the whole series on the shelves!

I have a few books next to the bed that I've started and do want to finish but they are "slow reads" for me! Felt great accomplishment in finishing up 2 Montana history books and the biography of Billy Graham. I like the "for Dummies" books and buy them at thrift stores and rummage sales. There are always a couple of those in the bed stack!

have to read Tucker Carlson's "Ship of Fools" tonight! It's due back at the library tomorrow. My mom had it and just finished it this afternoon. I thought I had returned all my library books. Any excuse to cheat on "no books til Christmas" !!

Tried reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondō. I got about a third of the way through and just had to skim the rest so I could mark it as read. Maybe one or two good thoughts, but way too silly for me.
I am still trying to work my way through The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes and Why by Amanda Ripley. For some reason, I am having a hard time sticking with it. It's interesting so far, but just not grabbing my attention like I thought it would. I really want to have it done by the new year though.
The last book I am working on is An Echo of Things to Come by James Islington. I read the first book of the trilogy really fast, then started this one immediately only to find out the third book won't be released until November of 2019 So I slowed down to try to make it last a little bit longer before I have to WAIT! I hate waiting for the next book in a series. *pout*

I put navy beans on to soak and will do ham & beans in the crock pot tomorrow! Most of this ham went to split pea soup or bean soup!

Saw a new release on 12/25 from a funny author, Jodi Taylor, for 99 cents so sent a message to my BFF who gave me my Kindle and let's me share in the massive Kindle library she and her sister have! I told her Santa needs to get us this new story for Christmas!

Read three Adirondack Mountain mystery novels (boxed set) by S. W. Hubbard and "Pulse", a Kate Redman mystery set in England by Celina Grace.

That took up most of the past few evenings and today. Working on Split pea soup now. Have lots of bacon ends I'm baking up to go in it.

Finished the 3 books in the "Cape Refuge" series! "Southern Storm", "River's Edge" and "Breaker's Reef"! I enjoyed the 4 books! Each at about 300 pages so basically a day's read for me! Using reading chapters as a reward for chore accomplishments. I cheat! But still got a lot done!

I'm going to try to not start another book until after Christmas! I will, of course, have the newspaper and some magazines to keep me occupied but I'm on a mission to get more organized and down-sized as we head into 2019!

Just finished a Jeffrey Archer story, "Heads You Win" which also has a Russian backstory. Interesting read as a Russian dock worker is killed by the KGB for trying to set up a union! His wife and son escape in crates on a ship. One ship bound for America, the other bound fuor England. They flip a coin to choose. Then it becomes 2 stories, one in New York and one in London. At first it was a little hard to follow going back and forth with the "what ifs" in each country. I really liked it! I've read a lot of Jeffrey Archer. His "Clifton Chronicles" is 7 books that follow family dynasties in England. He's very good and very prolific!

Just finished "Red War". Really liked it. Many of these are covert ops in the Middle East. This one is about Russia. Always a little scary because they involve current events and seem plausible. I hope there really are good guys like Mitch Rapp working to keep us safe.

I have 3 more books in the Cape Refuge series on the night stand but think I'll read a new Jeffrey Archer novel, "Heads You Win" first.

Last winter I read 16 Vince Flynn books. Really only 14 were written by Flynn. He died young of prostate cancer. Another young author named Kyle Mills has taken over writing the Mitch Rapp novels! I read them one right after another and dreamed in Mitch Rapp covert ops! Was really looking forward to the movie "American Assassin" but it was a huge disappointment!! Huge!

Could easily have been another Jason Bourne kind of movie series but they strayed so far from the book and how Mitch Rapp became a CIA assassin that they just ruined it!

Kyle Mills wrote some thrillers of his own and they were good too! Now a new Mitch Rapp novels is out, "Red War". I picked it up at the library yesterday. There are others on the waiting list so I'm going to devour it now that I finished all my Sunday chores!

Then I'll read the 2nd in the "Cape Refuge" series!

I finished "Legend of Holly Clause" and "Montana: High, Wide and Handsome" and now the only thing I have left to finish is the "Red Storm Rising". I read through the new "Women's World" magazine and got a couple new recipe ideas for a party I am catering later this month. I need to take a reading break and get some Christmas cards done...but not likely to happen. My mom passed me the next trilogy by Blackstock.

Just finished 2 silly mysteries by JJ Murray. Got the wrong author. They were fiction and rather goofy about Dorothy Parker and the Algonquin gang. I am almost finished with "Montana High Wide and Handsome". I got several books I'm wrapping up and putting under the tree so Santa can give them to me in a couple weeks!

A book called the "Winter Garden" by Kristen Hannah. Really good story about 2 very different sisters and their cold Russian mother.

Read the new David Baldacci "Long Road to Mercy" in one night. Good story and a wonderful new character. I'm sure he'll write a few more starrring her!

Just finished "Hunt for Red October" ! Really enjoyed the book and looking forward to reading all the Tom Clancy books through the winter. I like his writing style. Pretty tense and suspenseful in a couple places. Saw the movie years ago so that's how I pictured the characters in my mind! Nothing wrong with visualizing Sean Connery!

About halfway through "Hunt for Red October" . A couple chapters then a chore! It's not going so bad!

I'm very proud of myself because I haven't started any of the 6 books I picked up at the library. I've been doing some of my homely duties that I didn't want to do. I have 2 more projects for today and if I get them done then I can start a book!

Currently reading "Year One" by Nora Roberts. It is very well written, very different than her usual fare.

Picked up 2 more Kristen Hannah books and the first 4 Tom Clancy novels at the library just before they closed today! !My winter mission to read all the Tom Clancy novels! I seriously loved all the Vince Flynn novels! Really like David Baldacci and plan on buying his latest when it comes out on the 13th. Have read several authors in the genre but not Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum. Need to remedy that!
