Your advice is great too! Looks like a great group. I am "a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll" I need to find the right fit. I am spending time getting to know the website and it appears to offer a lot of good things. I'll be on here often.

lots of great advice. Sounds like you might be overwhelming yourself with too many changes at once. try picking just 2 or 3 things to work on at a time till they become habits then take on a couple more. such as drinking enough water ea day or portion control or getting enough sleep ea night or eating enough veggies and fruits. try to look at it as a life style change and not a diet. hope that helps.

Hang in there Diana; were all here for you. There is no one way of losing weight that works for everybody. Try mixing styles see if that works for you. I even have a lap-band and thats not working for me. I tried all the diets. Mixing up a few different styles is working for me. Im having trouble with exercising I just dont like cardio period! If I could find a cardio that I like my weight would come off Im sure of it! So hang in there. Keep trying youll find what works just as Im sure I will.

Diana...Diana here. I was struck by your quote from Edison. I sometimes ask myself why I don't just quit trying to find a way to lose weight that works. Thank you for your post. emoticon

I like that one day, one meal, one pound at a time! I think I'll make that my mantra. And focus on losing ONE pound, not 50, awesome. I'm going to try that too!

From the wonderful Louise Hay, (You Can Heal Your Life) This affirmation is one of my favorites for an overweight problem.

Jazz, I believe you will do it. Are you tracking all your food and does it fall into your calorie range? I have added a morning and afternoon snack to my tracker so that I can easily account for everything.

I agree with JLEE58 whole heartedly. But I have to break my day down even farther - I'm trying to make 2-3 hr intervals. Since Christmas I can't seem to stop eating. Every hour I eat! I don't know why but I have to slow myself down and take control and a whole day seems to be too much. I CAN do this!!

Hi---I agree with everyone. One day at a time. I have the eating down ok--it's the exercise I struggle with. I try to do everything in the morning so I don't have to keep thinking about it.

One day, one meal, one pound at a time. That is my new mantra. I have had the same problem in the past, of falling off my program when things got tough or I got bored, but this time I have a brand new mindset. It is not just losing weight this time, it is getting healthy and eating foods that nourish my body and mind. I have set small goals to concentrate on. Instead of saying I will exercise for an hour, I am concentrating on 15 mins. for now. Instead of thinking I have 50 pounds to lose. I have 1pound to lose, and when I lose that 1, I will work on the next one. Someone once said that slow and steady wins the race, and I believe that is true. I really feel, at least for me, that this time of my life is meant to be lived at a slower more restful pace and my lifestyle should reflect that. Believing in yourself and knowing that you can do it is the key.

I find that if I set small goals for myself I tend to do better. It takes time to do this. Remember just make up your mind to do it and you will. Believe in yourself and anything can be done. If you fall off the wagon get right back on. I had that happen to me for awhile. Post often and just know we are here for you and you'll do it.

You have to get it set in your mind... you can do this and YOU want to do this.
Look at the food you think you want and say to yourself, is this really worth it? I already know how this taste, do I really need this food right now? I know I can have it later on in smaller portions.
Your health and your well being has to become the most important in your life. You are worth it.. and besides the other side of eathing healthy, you will start to feel and look better.
YOU CAN DO THIS, one pound at at time, one meal at a time and one day at a time!

Chris, hi! I find that walking is my thing, and putting on my trusty pedometer and trying to get 10,000 steps daily REALLY give me the motive to keep at it. Its like a do or die deal, and seeing how far Ive gotten makes me want to do more and more. I also listen to audiobooks when I walk and get so immersed in that, that the time flies by. I dont especially like exercises, but do like the walking. I MAKE myself do the exercises, and hope to like them more as time goes by. The deal is to find what you really like, then get with that. Am also Walking across America daily...big fun for me.

Wishing you well and trusting youll soon be Thin Chris!

Anyone who has a lot of weight to lose knows that the number can be overwhelming. So, focus on doing what you have to do to lose 10 pounds at a time.

It takes about 3 weeks for us to form a habit. Try setting a mini-goal - track all your meals for a week, exercise 3 times this week. Then, when you've accomplished those, set another goal.
