I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. I have been away for awhile, but have missed this challenge. Keeping track of the differential really helped me to stay focused. Is anyone interested in keeping this challenge going?

Dec was not a month to try to lose weight. Too many meals out with the family, traveling East to West and back to East, off regular schedule, and too many sweets this time of the year.

Looking forward to 2010 and better effort to reach goal weight by my April birthday. Tomorrow is weigh in day and I expect I will show a gain for all my extra eating.

Loss of 2 pounds for the month and I'm fine with that. Slow and steady and healthy along the way ... holding at 136 this week. This has been a great challenge and I've loved following along with everyone; so inspired by Spark friends.

Looks like i finished the month with a 4 pound total loss and Im holding at 139...... which is what i was hoping for.

Hope I see everyone on the January challenge. We will keep using the differential - but spike up the exercise with a graduated walking plan. We can do it for a month.......... I know its going to be good for us.


Wishing everyone all the best in 2010 and thanking you all for being here. I wouldnt want to be taking this fitness journey alone = and with all of you - Im not.

Ok all - lots of negative diffs posted here? Who lost any weight?

I lost 4 pounds in Dec - and think I will end the month at 139. I could have lost another few pounds if I stayed focussed a little more and stayed with my exercise routine but I slacked off on exercising. Did ok with eating actually but with the bitter cold I didnt get out to exercise much. ALso all the classes are cancelled at my ymca between xmas and new year. I miss them.

So who lost some pounds? We have one more day - tomorrow morning I will post the Januray challenge. We're getting serious in 2010 HA HA HA

Unfortunately I have gained all of my weight back over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday. I have no one to blame but myself. I was thinking the other day that it takes no time at all to put the weight back on. However it takes a lifetime to take it back off. Oh well, a new day a new beginning. The steps I am taking to get this off and keep off are as follows.
I started by having my husband take a before picture of me this morning. What an eye opener. I have folded this up in my weight loss diary that I will log in each day. I also purchased a cardio dvd that I can use. It is walk at home series. When you finish the 45 minutes you should have walked 3 miles. I completed this yesterday and did work up a sweat. And of course back to eating healthy. I was so proud of myself for completing the workout. I will do this again this afternoon. I have also set up a strength training plan through SP. My first goal is lose 8 pounds by 1-27-10. I have no more excuses.
I am so excited to see the end results. emoticon

Lost 1.5 pounds in Christmas week.

I weighed in today and am holding at 139. I gained 3 pounds over xmas week.............. yuk.......... but I know I will lose it eventually.

How is everyone doing on the challenge?

We are coming to year end............ I will be posting the January challenge early in the day on Dec 31. It will be all about exercise.........but I do want to keep the daily differential part of this challenge going. Its good for all of us and has gotten a great response.

If i wake up tomorrow morning under 140 pounds it will be my miracle of the season. I didnt totally pig out = but I ate plenty. Want to hang on to that 5 pound loss.................

You are not alone. Working hard to maintain, but it hasn't been an easy task. Lots of meals out with relatives since getting to CA. Had lunch out today and dinner is also out with my siblings. I don't even want to think what my calorie intake is, but I've been trying to log it. It isn't pretty to look at, but at least I know where I stand regarding the work that I will need to do once the holidays are over,

Certainly tis the season for snacking, eating off schedule and eating things you dont normally munch on. I havent been logging food very well because I havent been on the computer too much. Too many things to do. I do know I have been eating more and not necessarily healthy things. Ive gained 2 pounds back.................. but so far am holding there and am still under the 140 mark. I think I can maintain that thru the holidays. That would be wonderful.

So happy to see everyone doing well............... enjoy the holidays - leave guilt behind but be reasonable in snacking and munching. Its one day =----- and take a little taste of everything without completely pigging out............. bottom line = enjoy with your families and have a blessed holiday.

Food seems to be waiting around every corner this month! My solution is to divert my attention to other fun holiday activities like wrapping presents, writing Christmas cards, looking at photo albums of when my kids were little, taking walks (brisk!!!) to look at the lights...playing carols on my sax (you can NOT eat and play an instrument at the same time); taking ONE bite of something yummy and giving the rest to my slender husband.
Since Octoer I've lost 10 lbs. Thanks to all for the positive reinforcement, tips, and tricks in your posts.

Today was a travel day to CA to visit with my Mom and the siblings. Because of all the snow and ice, left at 3:30AM to go to the airport. It was slow going. Lots of snow still on the roads and ice as well. Where there should of been two lanes, there was just one. Some of the drivers were a little crazy - driving too fast for the very wet & icy conditions.

Made it to the airport in one piece and then spent the rest of the day waiting to go from one airport to the next. Flew through Dallas to San Jose. Lots of people who had been bumped were trying to get on the flights. My first leg had 30 people trying to get a seat. Not everyone could be accommodated. Our flight flew completely full. It was no different in Dallas - lots of people on standby trying to get on. The overheads were stuffed to capacity and made worse because the cold weather meant that everyone had large coats and other extra clothing to stow away somehow on the plane.

Arrived in CA very tired. Slept some on the first flight, but the second flight had a very unhappy child, who cried from beginning to end. felt really sorry for the poor parents who tried their best to get him to stop crying.

Had an apple for breakfast, walked around the terminal while waiting for my flights and when I got here, had lunch out with Mom and my sister. Had a sandwich with some fruit. Don't think I'll be having dinner because I want to catch up on my sleep more than I want to eat.

So hope everyone had a great Monday.

Lousy week for diet & exercise last week! 4 - count 'em 4 parties; extra rehearsals for the choirs, which menas less time to exercise. Still I lost .5 lb. That's not too horrible I guess.

I did not lose a pound, so maybe next week if I keep up the differential, it will be gone, the only day I could have it wrong is today, but I am pretty sure I got it right, home made tamales are hard to figure nutrition wise for me
