Well, with July behind me, overall I did ok. For the entire month I met my goals the majority of the days in everything except fiber.... I only met that 3 out of 31 days. So I'll trudge on and try to do better. I don't even want to imagine what the numbers were like before I started tracking and watching what I eat.

For July 31
met-calories, fat, carbs & calcium
under -protein, potassium & fiber
over - sodium

A healthy snack is banana ice cream:

1 banana per portion I make more when I am at it

cut banana and freeze, when frozen use a food processor, add the frozen banana, vanilla to taste and run until smooth. Refreeze for at least 15 minutes
I put it in small cups so that I have a portion size ready to use.

Enjoy

Nutritionally, I was within goal for everything except for FAT- I was short by 5.

Had lots of fruit & veggies and no refined sugar. Had yogurt with Blueberries as a snack in the afternoon and lean steak for dinner with large salad, cooked napa cabbage and some bok choy.

Did my Spark People exercises in the morning, went to the gym in the afternoon for an hour step class, ran on the treadmill for about 45 minutes and after dinner hubby & I went for an hour walk.

My Calorie Differential is (-) 614.

Got in a 20 minute walk this morning, which was good, because I went to a huge potluck luncheon (not so good). I'm not going to attempt to track what I ate today and vow to do better tomorrow....the start of a new month!! Isn't it wonderful to always have that second chance to do better?

For Thursday I met my goals for everything except Carbs. I was just short by 10 for Carbs.

No refined sugar today, but lots of fruits & veggies. Exercises done and did 2 hrs. at the gym (Aerobics low impact class & Pilates class).

Had all our meals at home so no problem staying within range of all my nutritional goals.

Calorie Differential was (-) 590.

EXCEPT potassium short by 30 & fiber down by 3

Percentages ( which may not be realistic)
fat 32.6 (25) protein 20.8(45)carbs46.8(30) I'm happy as long as carbs are under 50 for now.

Just finished tracking for the last 3 days. It's really hard to go back and attempt to reconstruct. Had book club, overnight guests, and dinner out, so ate differently than I usually do. Was a little over on some items and under on protein one day. Exercise consisted of cleaning house and walking today for 25 minutes.

We have been having a heat wave here with temps that are 100 - 110!
And since our average for this time of year is about 74....it has been extremely difficult.
My nutrition has been good, but no exercise. Lots of water too!
Am a little discombobulated with this heat, but am trying to stay on track.

Met all my goals except on calories and was -63 on them.
Walked my 2 miles and did my stair steps.

And to ANIDUCK, you can find your differential in the reports. It takes your calories and your workouts. The minus means you used more than you ate...at least I think that's how it works. emoticon

LIMASTAR,what do you mean by "Calorie Differential was (-)438" Especially the word "differential" and the minus sign in parentheses? Sorry to be so ignorant but I'm trying to learn the lingo here.

Help me out here Sparkers; how do some of you seem to keep your calories down and carbs up. It just seems that anything that has carbs also is loaded with calories. Give me some foods that don't do that. Do I have to live on chicken?!! That seems unbalanced.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul
