Hi everyone.... as soon as I logged onto this thread I felt better.

I am stressed to the max this week...work stuff. One of the reasons why my status talks about work/life balance....

I am glad it is Friday, gonna watch the rest of Olympics and workout this weekend. Gotta find some ways to just chill too!

I think I am back! I have not worked out for 1 1/2 weeks. Busy with the horse and the stained glass. Plans to workout all weekend though.

I have some catching up on the posts.

I volunteered my husband to help supervise the youth at our church this weekend. It's a 30 hour famine. LOL! He will have a great time with the kids.

Congratulations!! Everyone is doing so great. I keep hoping that if I stick with the plan that eventually I'll work the soreness out. I am still having a really hard time getting my calories right am either under or way over. Am eating too much fat and not enough protein. Have a wonderful day sparkers.

Hope everyone enjoys a Sparking kind of day! It's warmer here, but very windy, so I'll still have to walk indoors...

hello everyone,
Well I finally got some rest last night. All this work we are doing at the Red Cross is tiring but a lot of fun. The fundraiser on April 9th will be fun. We will have mexican food and Mexican beer and margarita tasting! I can't wait! But we have a lot of work to do between now and then. I just feel really good about my life right now. I am looking forward to graduating having my surgery and looking for a new job. I am also planning to find a rent house to move to and get out of this 1 bedroom apt. it is so little. well hope everyone has a great day! I am tracking today! Darla

Donna - Click back on the General Team Discussion and open for additional topics. There is one there to add your good news each week you weigh in. I do mine on Saturdays so everyone can help through the ups and downs.

Tonight is my husband's retirement outing at Quaker Steak and Lube. There are 65 people coming and that doesn't count any who just show up. Since we work at the same place I'll know many, many people. Daughter is flying home tonight to surprise him. He stated yesterday that she told him Kevin and she sent him a retirement gift in the mail. He said, I wonder if Kevin is sending her home. I said, well, with her restricted vacation time I don't see that happening. I'm so thankfully my son is available to pick her up.

I'm trying to really keep on course with eating. I'm hoping with tonight that I'll be so busy chatting that I won't have much time to eat. Definitely not wings. Too messy for tonight.

Amanda will be home for several days but I'm going to aim to keep myself moving and tracking. I'll try to drop by and keep caught up with the goings on here with the team.

I am doing good, back on track and will continue to work at not going off track. It is too cold outside to walk, so I will be doing a Leslie Sansone DVD for an hour or so. I am not giving up!

DONNA - great job, keep up the great work. You are doing a fantastic job.

Thank you to all of you for your support and encouragement through this hard time. I am just glad it was the part time job and not the full time position that he lost. Even though it will be tough financially for us for a while.

Well for some reason I really slept in today. My daughter got out of school at 11:30 and was home before I got up today. Later this afternoon I took her to confirmation class, then joined her for supper at the church, attended the services, went to choir practice and then after we got home we got the lining and over skirt of her dress cut out. We now have everything cut out so we can start working on sewing it together. I got some of the kitchen cleaned up yesterday but haven't gotten any cleaning done today because of sleeping in. Talked with my husband yesterday about his having to work the evening of our daughters first communion during holy week. He has now requested a vacation day for that night so he can attend church and take communion with her for her first communion. I also found out that the pictures are going to be taken the day of confirmation after the church services so I guess it is best to have the party at my sisters so that she can get back to the house (id she attends the services) and get the last minute stuff ready while we are at the church getting the pictures done.

Well guess I should see what I can get done yet tonight before heading to bed (not that I am tired).

Take care.
Thiry

Thanks for all the ideas to avoid bingeing. The gum thing won't work for me. I have this weird adversion to gum. It makes me gag?? Kind of weird, I know. I will try the healthy things on hand idea...vegies, shredded wheat, etc. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who has this problem. I don't understand why I can't seem to control these stupid binges. It is nice to know I am not alone in trying to battle them!

Donna----way to go......6 pounds!! I am soooooo jealous!!

Sorry to hear that we have so many sore sparkers!! ...but I guess that means we are working those muscles, right? Val, take it easy. I hope you didn't hurt yourself too bad with that fall.

Have a good night sparkers!!

Hi! This is my first post to this thread. I had my 2nd night with my trainer last night and am very sore. I usually take two days off a week from working out and am picking this day!

I did do some exercises he wanted me to at home, but skipped the gym. Will get back there tomorrow :) Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello everyone,
Man I am still not quite back on track with my eating from going off this last weekend. I have to get on track. I did follow my points today but did not write anything down. Tomorrow I am writing things down and getting on track. I came home early today from the internship. They have me doing a lot and since it has been a while since I worked I am exhausted! But I am cooking a chicken breast and veggies for supper! I am waiting until Sunday to weigh in and get back to my Sunday meetings. Got a lot of reading and cleaning to do this weekend. Hope everyone is doing well and hope you all have a good day! Darla

Oh my I am so sore I don't want to move. Like everything else I have taken to this and gone overboard. Yesterday I went to my first yoga class and then did an hour on the elliptical. I thought that if I went back to the gym this morning that it would work the soreness out. I did another hour on the elliptical machine and am still stiff. Any suggestions?

Morning Ladies---since I am new to the team I was wondering if there is an "official" weigh in thread on Wednesdays? I NEEED a place to scream for joy :0)...LOOK at my ticker...do you see it??? I lost SIX pounds! WOOOT! And I was even contemplating using to day as an off day for exercising! NO WAY! I am on a roll. Maybe next week I can get below the 220's. YAY! Not turning back now! 45 by 45 is my goal!

SP has been very pivotal to my staying ON track. Truth is, I only joined several days ago, but I KNOW that if I didn't have a place to track my food, I would have cheated! I am finally getting it that "cheating" is only cheating myself!!
Thanks to everyone that friended me and for all the awesome post of success, challenges, and humor :0)!
Hope you all have a fantastic day! Mine is off to a good start! Off to get that 3 mile workout in!

Hi Sparkers!
Wow! great strategies everyone. I use the gum trick too when I feel like I could go out of control too and pack my own snacks, some days though I've eaten 2 days worth, should probably bring just one days at a time.
Boy, since last week being away I've been struggling with some binging too. Yesterday I had two browines at lunch some parents had brought in. Since May I've been very sucessful saying no and not eating them.. I need to revisit my journal, take deep breaths and stop this reversal of behavoir!!!!

I got on the bike for 50 mins last night and had a good sweaty work out. I really just wanted to lie on the couch, but knew I had to get moving! Cheered on the nordic skiers and pushed even more. It was so cool to see them win the silver, US has never done that before. Starting to feel like I did before knee surgery.

What is everyone's favorite snack under 200 calories?
I like a fugi apple with a few almonds, or a mini whole wheat bagel with a little fresh peanut butter.

Alright everyone. We can do this!

Here's to health everyone!

Morning all,
Thanks Brenda for the words of support. Yesterday I was on track, and I am hoping to continue the trend. We have a winter weather advisory outside. Spring can't come fast enough for me, this has been a long cold winter, but Spring will be worth it.
I hope you all have a great day!

Catlover - We're here for support. Sometimes I feel alone when I'm off my game. Take just a small step each day and build on it. I think many of us go through the off and on again cycle. That was me two weeks ago.

Thnks4 - Lurking is good. There is so much here that it is hard to always be as active on the boards. I'm trying to get to certain things first and then it time allows, go to extra places.

Shalegra - Enjoy those college visits. Happy to here there are a couple of choices in Texas. But a visit can really turn them off. We had a few that was like, No, this isn't it. Maybe UK will be that for you.

MommaB - great job at McD's. That is a real booster to know you've stepped away from enticing urges. Great job on loss of weight.

Kirchds - my bingeing would be at home. I'm pretty good at work and have only healthy items here, nuts, veggies, fruit, shredded wheat cereal. I stay away from the vending machine. When needing some bingeing have those healthy items. I really like the Shredded Wheat and Bran cereal to pop in my mouth. There are some good ones with low sugar counts also I have for those times when I want something sweet but has high fiber count also.

Today is lunch out at a Chinese restaurant. Meeting 4 friends. This will be a goal setter for me to limit my food intake. It is a buffet style and I really like their chicken wings and crab ragoon. My goal is to eat a small sample of them and move to the other food choices that contain meats and veggies.

Have a good Wednesday.

Brenda

Afternoons are my biggest problem too, and it's always carbs. I always have carrots and cut up celery on hand for that time of day, it seems to get me through dinner. Today I gave in to the the carbs and had wheat pretzels and a tablespoon of low fat peanut butter.
Have a good night everyone:) lisa

My way of dealing with afternoons is I let myself have one bite size candy bar or a small piece of candy. Most of the time the calories are under 75 and just one satisfies my craving for something sweet.

hello everyone,
If I follow WW and write everything down then I don't compulsively overeat or binge but if I am not tracking then I do binge. It is a hard thing to fight.
Had a great day . Went to my first Overeaters Anonymous meeing and it was great. Highly reccomned it. The 12 steps really help me. Then I went to the Red Cross where I am doing my internship. It was a lot of fun and I really like the people who work there. There is possibly a job opening coming up so if it does then I am applying for it. I think it would be a great place to work. Went to the University library to get some books for my comp questions. So I have lots of reading to do and then still have to get some more journal references. Then I can start writing the papers. I have to turn them in by March 8th so I have ot get busy. I stay busy! But all my classes are done and i have just these 2 papers to write then my internship until I get 300 hours in. I feel like I will pass my comps and graduate but I wont' know for sure until 6 weeks after the 8th whether I pass or fail. But i am good at writing so hopefully it will be okay. Hope everyone had a great day!!! JIm had surgery today but not sure how he did. He would not let me be there! he said he was a horrible patient so he didn't want to upset me. Take care everyone. Hi, this is my second day as a SP and I have already learned some things and have met some nice folks. Concerning the binge thing, my problem is afternoon and cooking dinner. My husband bought these single servings of canned diced fruit, they are easy to grab and eat(50 cals.) and when cooking I like to cut up carrot sticks to crunch on to keep me from other things. Thanks for making me feel welcome emoticon

I have struggled with binging...packing snacks for work has helped and having a snack either right before I leave work or in the car helps with the binge before dinner.

On the weekends it is harder so spending time cooking helps and making sure I eat frequently.

Good luck.. it is hard

Hi team. Hope everyone is having a good day. I made a couple of my goals...running 2 miles straight and tracking my food so I rewarded myself with a new pair of workout pants, a jacket that matches, and a sparkpeople t-shirt. I was fortunate that the colors don't clash since I ordered them on line!! I plan to wear them to my first 5K on March 13th!

Does anyone have trouble with "binging?" In the afternoon, I tend to go on what I call "search and destroy." I end up hunting the frig and pantry for anything...especially carbs. I have been going for my workout in the afternoons to try and prevent them, but I come home and still feel that urge to binge while I am preparing dinner. Any suggestions?

To achieve all that is possible, we must attempt the impossible. To be all that we can be, we must dream of being more.

Tuesday .. I wish everyone a Happy Tuesday. All is fine in my world. I had kind of lost it with the food tracker when I had my cold, glad I am mended and have resumed my tracking. I swim with tri coach tonight, I love that! Then I might have enough energy to stay up and watch the figure skating..

I too love hiking.. even in the snow and I actually prefer winter hiking! Love to feed the chickadees on one of our local trails.

have a great day!

Running, Hiking, anything outside would be great! Especially swimming!
It's another cold snowy, rain mix here :( I missed my massage party yesterday, but I had to go thru McD drive thru for my dad and was able to pass up ordering anything so it was a successful day. emoticon

That darn scale finally showed some success this week.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Afternoon Team40,

I have been MIA for a few days now...just busy with life, nothing more than that. Getting back into my work out grove and feeling much better.

We are getting ready to visit 3 colleges...and praise God, two of them are in Texas! He does work in mysterious ways :0) The third one is the University of KY...which is very close to my family. She has been excepted to all three, now it is decision time.

Thank you to everyone for all the wisdom and encouragement. I'm starting to understand what my mom when through when I left home. Funny, it really does all come back around :0)

Anyway, everyone have a wonderful afternoon and keep up the great SPARKING! You are worth it!

Petal - Try these steps. I searched under Q&A for this info. Some things are hard to find at times. I think you can change it to pounds.

How do I change my weight goal?
1. Go to your Start page.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the my Tools section (left column in orange).
3. Click the "change" link next to your weight goal under My Goals.
4. Under Set Your Weight Goal, change the number in the "Target Weight" box.
5. Click "Save Your Changes" at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps you with the weight tracking.

MommaB0f7 - That must be great to have a massage day with friends. Hope you enjoyed it.

Thiry - sorry to hear about your hubby's job loss. Wishing you both success in finding full time jobs.

Some good things I did yesterday were: got my steps in for the day which included 47 mins of cardio broken up into 2 sessions; ordered and ate a mini pizza only 2 slices; ate only half a dessert. Not so good: had 2 drinks and ate the extra cheese sticks. Last night I couldn't go to sleep and today I'm feeling the effects of it. Stomach is not too happy.

This evening I am meeting my sister for a coffee outing. She started a new job a couple of weeks ago and we're catching up on how things are going. Must be decaffeinated or I'll be up all night.

Plan to work my steps in today again and not let the week of activities beat me. Take charge. Have a good Tuesday.

Wow, way to go on all the "losers!"
Did really good on my tracking today, and my pedo is showing some good numbers at 21,000+. So it's been a good day....

Hello Everyone,
I was gone all weekend to see my son and future daughter in law in San Antonio. It was harder trip this time. It took me 10 hours to get there instead of 7 and then on the way back I had a flat tire and ended up spending the night in Denton texas where we use to live and getting a tire today. But I had so much fun with my son and daughter in law. Caitlin had to work all day Sat so it was just me and Chris. We went and picked out his tux for his wedding. It was fun but almost made me cry! he is supppose to be my baby boy not a man! But the wedding is going to be beautiful and they have a lot done already. I ate pretty good except for today and it has been horrible the way I have ate. But I watched Ruby the other day and her therapist was talking to her about the 12 step program. Overeaters Anoymous does that. So I ordered some material I got in today and I am going to go to the 2 meetings a week they have here. just reading the material has made me really wake up and realize i am a compulsive overeater. I do pretty good following Weight Watchers as long as i am writing everything down but if I ever get off for even one day then the whole week is gone. But so far I have only gained a few times. I am mostly losing so that is a huge step forward for me. I can't catch up on all the posts but hope everyone is doing well. Now i am back! Have a good night everyone. Darla

Hi everyone. Just a quick note. thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Still not out of woods on the crisis but seeing a little day light. it has been a really tough week and not likely to end soon. I haven't fallen off the spark track but bdly switched from eating properly to not eating.
Hope in a few days to be fully back on track. I have enjoyed catching up on everyone and want you to know I missed you. Keep up what you are doing and help me get back on the exercise track. Hoep to be back more tomorrow.

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well today! I was procrastinating getting on the treadmill today ... BUT, after doing some reading on SP, I found the motivation to get moving! And I tried a Shrimp Fried recipe that was excellent and I think my husband will enjoy it for his lunch tomorrow! Have a great evening! emoticon
